And oddly I don't believe it. Until T-Mobile gives the announcement, itis all speculation.

I know noone knows me from anything.. but Im not out for attention on this.
When I went in to change my plan last week and check my upgrade credit it was in mid morning and I was the only customer so I was able to sit down with the re for a while talking about phones and he showed me the fender Mytouch demoo.. blah blah.. Anyway.. When we were talking about if I should wait for the fender mytouch or get a CLiq, he mentioned to me that the new updates would be officially out between feb 7th-21st. I asked him what build he said depending on the phone 2.01 and 2.1. He knew I had a G1 and he said that I may be getting 2.1. This guy has been working in the same store for about 4 years so I know hes not some rambling new guys saying whatever I want to hear.

Sending the creator a PM will not help since he hasnt showed up as of march (he actually was no where to be found from feb to march then he showed up in march for a day then dissapeared again), (someone correct me if im wrong) but creating a new thread wont help either. just search for dcs 1.17 and you'll find the thread.
nevertheless dont get your hopes high as the dcs' roms have not been updated for quite a while, and as a former dcs user i would have loved for this roms to be continued but it probably wont happen. I also might suggest giving up waiting for it. JPHCCFC hope this help clarified all your questions.

Lets see 1H 2010, ususally the updates run about 2 time periods behind when they say that they will be available... so looking somewhere around 1H2011...
By that time, the development work for 2.1 here in XDA-Developers will already be done and all of us will be looking forward to the next release.
I wonder why the Moment is being held up on the 2.0 release, when it's just vanilla Android. I really didn't think they were going to give us that broad of a timespan though. I figured January would be the latest that we'd have 2.0. So unless Google makes some changes, there's a good chance we won't be using their newest apps for a long time (officially anyway). By the time we get 2.0, Droid will be running 4.5 .
as long as we get 2.1 here first and i can brag about it for a whole before anyone else has it, im happy lol.

HTC has affirmed that we will be getting an update on more than one occasion now, but you're right, a reminder and an update from them is always welcome. I just wish we could keep talks of this in a single thread.

I love Sprint, and my Hero, but let's be real.... almost every Android phone on the market will be LIGHT YEARS ahead of us if it takes more than a couple months at most.
While I agree that it isn't cool to toy around with us...specially since we'll still be behind when the update hits most likely. But still...I don't think that not getting an update warrants hopping the fence haha.
but then again, I cannot even really use that since I "hopped the proverbial fence" after my girlfriend dumped me and haven't looked back...if you get my drift haha

I think it's a perfect reason to hop the fence, show sprint that we want our updates, we can't do anything on 1.5 .. no nav, no goggles, nothing new and exciting, i'm fed up and i would rather start over with a new phone.. than wait for sprint to get off their lazy behinds and feed us something that should have been out already

Or keep your eyes peeled for the 2.0-ish roms we have in the works here, there's a decent chance we'll be fully up and running by the time the other phones get their official update. But by all means, "stick it to the 'man'..." and cancel your service. It's your prerogative. I personally don't see the need. I like my sprint service and I like my sprint hero. /shrug

See, I don't think Sprint will have an update for us until about May (I just have a feeling on this). In light of that, I'm definitely looking at the development on the 2.0/2.1 ROMs in the other threads...those look like they will be ready way before Sprint updates us.

My source is me. My friend got his from Best Buy this morning, he asked me to root it for him. Then I discovered v1.47.651.1 on it.
My EVO is currently smashed, I am awaiting a replacement. I pray my replacement doesn't come with that version on it but I'm probably SOL on that.
There are still NEW Evos that are coming with stock ROM. I bought another Evo last Thursday from the Sprint website and got it yesterday. It has the 1.32.651.1 firmware and 003 Novatec panel.

I have no doubt that is true. But it's simple logic to figure that eventually those older versioned phones will run out and get replaced by the new v1.47.651.1.
I thought about offering $ as well. Which I may be willing to contribute. But I have the fear that it will cause the free flow of ideas between the devs to stop if they think another dev will crack it first.
They deserve the $, no doubt. But I'm hoping they would be willing to work together and split it up. If that's the case, lets see how high the pool can get.

Sure, it's possible. But he said the guy handed it to him in the box, and the plastic protector was still on the phone screen.
Can you not just downgrade to a previous version then root? (like what you had to do at the beginning if you already got a phone with the first OTA?)
And since you didnt specify that it needed to be full root or NAND unlock.. you could just use this:

Actually we've heard the 24th from other "sources" as well. Without any hard proof, or an official VZ announcement, right or wrong, you're post is just wasted space (as is mine admittedly)

The date of the 24th has actually been on numerous sites since at least yesterday (maybe longer but thats when I recall seeing it).
Ill post links once you state how why youre so sure. Otherwise, look it up yourself.

tazz, totally agreed, that date has been kicked around for likely longer than a week and ive seen it on droid life a million times, and several on phandroid, but this is nothing new, at this point i dont think any one single person can come out and say that they called it and got the date right. by now who gives a ****, its still a rock solid phone but i have heard so much about it that i feel like i already own the damn thing, there isnt a single spec i couldnt tell you. i will say this, i stopped in at my local best buy in knoxville,tn ant talked to the mobile dept. manager and he bet me his life that that the inspire 4g(really like 2.6g) had the same processor as the bolt, and he was right about that, but he told me the clock speed was 800mhz, i showed him at least 10 different spec sheets that proved him wrong, morons, all of them. the sad thing is he was very knowledgeable in actual android and even knew how to throw together some apps ansd code a little. on a different note, i played with the atrix while i was there and it had a sexy screen and for the first time in the existence of motoblur it actually ran buttery smooth although it still blows asshair compaired to sense or stock gizoogle android.

I think the important thing is to protect sources. Not sure if it is bricking or not. Though I don't want to be the one to find out.

bamf team is coming out with a new sense 3.0 rom(there is a preview zip available in the bamf 2 beta thread) so im guessing there is something coming soon, he seemed to stop once the brick issue came about, so why else would they and others update and create new roms for GB radios.

The fact that we have an MR2 Radio means GB could be right around the corner. I have had one reboot with it, (although that might have been a fluke, as the phone had 3% battery left), and so far it is very stable, and I wouldn't be surprised to see an official build out soon.
