How to hide music files in HTC Music Player ??? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hi All
As the tittle says I whant to know how to hide music files in HTC Music Player

Seconded. My g alarm tone is showing up in my music library and I'd like to get rid of it. Thanks

Make them hidden. I run into the same problem today and i went to the files and made them hidden, soft reseted and problem solved.

?
Thank you But I have one question will the programs find that sounds and work correctly

Yes, it finds them by path, not by if its hidden or not. The file is there, it doesn't matter what attributes it has.

Pocket Media Player Pissing Me Off

I've searched for the answer to this but have not come up with the solution to this problem, just others relating to skipping tracks after a few seconds playing...
Here's my problem...
Some tracks that have been previously recognised and played by Pocket Media Player aren't playing anymore.
In the playlist, they show up with red letters like as if they have been deleted off the memory card, BUT THEY'RE STILL THERE.
Mysteriously, these tracks will playback fine if I go into File Explorer and select them from there.
I started to think that the path information in Pocket Media Player had become corrupted, so I deleted the whole database of my tracks and let the application find them again.
IT STILL DOESN'T PLAY SOME OF MY TRACKS!
Can anyone tell me WTF is going on?
Please don't tell me to use another media player unless this problem can't be fixed.
Thanks in advance.
A bit more background information may help...
I'm using the Vodafone WM6.1 on a Kaiser
There are no other programs running in the background.
Is this a file path problem?
Is there a limit to the number of characters in a path and maybe the files that don't play are the ones where this limit is exceeded?
Help!
Thanks.

Windows Media Exclude Folders

Hi there,
Is there a way to force windows media not to update a library with a certain folders music, I have loads of music I want separate from my Windows Media library. I don't want to go through the library deleting music I don't want there every time I update it since its a bit of a pain.
E.G: My music located on the storage card I want to update into the library. But I don't want Misc Music also contained in My Music to update to the library.
I am using WM6 on T-Mobile MDA Vario II. If this is not possible are there any workarounds?
Thanks in advance
Anti
Not any that i know of, but i would really like to know... i have all my music on my memory card but the ringtones are still on the phone, and since wmp finds the ringtones it starts with the phones media library as standard, i dont like changing it at every start up
I have the same problem. I want to random play all my songs on my storage card, but I really want to exclude my audiobook/radio drama files!
Yet I also want easy access to play those files when required!
So, if I can set media player to exclude some album/genre in the "play all" option, I will be happy! Is it too much to ask for???
Yeah, REALLY annoying problem! Specially in combination with the m2d music tab.. Hope anyone finds a way to exclude specific folders.. (pm me if u found it?)

May be it helps...

Bumping this back up this list. Does anyone know a way to do this with the htc windows mobile music player???

sound settings conflict (?) problem on SAMSUN OMNIA

hi there,
i've got a samsung omnia with a cooked rom and everything worked for a month until 2 days ago when suddenly the ringtone for an incoming call has been changed (by something i dont know) to the wm default (which i can't hear!)
when i try to change it through the sound settings it switches back to the damned ringtone that i don't even have between the list of ringtones i can choose! it's called ring-WindowsMobile .wma
something could be in conflict with the audio settings because i cannot change ANY sound notify (sms, mms,ecc..). the difference between incoming call notify and the others is that the others notifies are still the same i choose before this "crash" but the incoming call notify has cahnged and cannot be changed back!
i also tried to install some software to administrate the audio settings but has not worked.....
what can i do?sorry for my english and the lenght of the message!
no ideas???
at least some tip to change the ringtone manually from the regisrty or kind of stuff please
all that "changer;" is, is a graphical interface for changing the ringtone. even if you did it manually it would change back with what ever was in conflict.
it could be a program u you installed or a bad flash.
I recomend a hard reset to fix the problem since by your description it sounds like it may have been a program you installed that screwed things up.
I came accross a similar problem to my old TyTN.. it seemed an audio player i installed associated all media files to it.. well that makes sence.. but.. when i assigned an mp3 as a ringtone the ringtone wouldnt play!
associating mp3s with windows media player fixed my problem! maybe something similar happened to you?
check it out.. hope it helps!

I
LOVE
YOU!
you avoided me to hardreset for such a problem like this!
it was resco audio recorder which screwed up the audio settings!
thanks a lot!
ps: when i use wmp or mortplayer to play an mp3 in "MY Storage" or in "My StorageCard" both programs return an error "could not find specified file" i think it's because of the space in the name of the folder which screw up the path..
how can i solve?

Heheh glad you solved it!!
i never use media player or mortplayer for my audio files.. i either use s2p or coreplayer!
dont know whats going wrong on your side :/
try using s2p and see if it returns the same problem! have u tried audio manager?
with audio manager its all ok
but if i set audio manager as default player for mp3 when i tap on a mp3 it opens audio manager with the last file played instead of the selected mp3 and the player stays on pause
anyway...i'll try s2p
thanks again!
thank............

Media player skin

Hey all
Due to an issue with build-in manilla media player (it stops after few moments of playing music) I'm stuck with WMP. I've been trying to find some finger friendly skins for it. Found some, but I'm unable to install them Tried to copy/paste files into program files/mindows media folder, but player does not see them Any ideas? Any beginner guide to installing skins or good source for skins will be much appreciated!
Thanks

Make sure all your music that you're playing from the HTC music player is in a root folder
eg. Storage Card/Music
With no subfolders.

Hey Phaedrus Nine
Tried all that - All my music is in "music" folder on my memory card. It is organised into separate folders. Tried to put one folder with few files in root location of memory card. Same time I've put some loose files in "music folder. All files are availabe for play in media libary and every single one stops after few seconds (40s max) Also before u ask - yes, followed few threads saying that it has something to do with mp3 tags - changed all of them, but still same issue. Gave up, decided to stick to WMP. The only thing I want now is a new skin for it...
Did you put all of your music into one root folder? Not organised into different folders, but just one.
I had the same problem, plays fine in WMP but HTC Player kept stopping after about 4 seconds.
Edit:
I tried installing skins for WMP on my phone, couldn't get it to work. Copied files etc.. Did a little searching, but couldn't find anything. I think the skins have to be WVGA? I dunno. But if you go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=492220 there is a download to a nice WMP skin with a .cab installer.
But I do suggest just sticking all your music into into folder (no other folders whatsoever, just one) HTC player is better than WMP.
Do the skins replace the album/artist list screens in the library or only the 'Now Playing' screen?

Just the now playing screen.
Phaedrus Nine - thanks for link, skin works great - finally I can listen to my mp3's on my handset.
Yes, I agree that WMP is not the best, but at least works As for music and build-in manilla media player I've tried all combinations and still no success
I've tested the cab and it works perfect on my device!?
Running MediaPlayer 10.3 build 28014 on ROM 1.61.468.1 with Manila Core 2.5.19211619.0
You have to change the skin in MediaPlayer Options but I think you know that!!
Just noticed that skin works ok, but only in portrait mode when flipped to landscape standard blue skin is displayed Checked file manager and all files appear to be there (landscape and portrait). I'm all confused here...

I didn't try it in landscape, like I said before I don't really use WMP I just installed to see if it worked for the benefit of this thread. But I would suggest going to the original thread I linked to to see if your answer is there. I'd have a look but I've not much time at the minute

No worries, glad to help. I don't understand why your HTC music app isn't working. My folder is set to Storage Card/Music.... and thats it, I had to remove all subfolders in the music file and make sure it was the only place music was stored on my device. Then it worked fine.
Does anyone know how to get the landscape skins to appear in the options? Not even my default skin shows up for landscape, only portrate. I've checked the program files and they're all there, but not within WMP.

Restrict Sense Music Player to play music from one folder?

All,
I've searched the forums and I've seen that people are asking how to exclude certain folders from the search path of the htc music engine. While this approach may work for some, it doesn't work for me, because I would have to know all the folders where music is stored to exclude them, and that can be a pain if you have several programs installed on your device.
What I've been trying to do is I've been trying to find out how to restrict or "force" the htc engine to search for music in one folder that I can configure and only in that folder. I save all my music to
\Stogare Card\Music\
But i have audio books in \Storage Card\My Documents\My Books\Audiobooks\
and when i go to the music tab, it tries to play my books (very annoying) and also, it plays the system sounds from the \Windows folder and any other sounds that it finds from the \Program Files\ folder, etc...
Does anyone have any idea how to tell the player to ONLY scan the \Storage Card\Music\ folder for music?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Dunno about Sense Music Player (I stay away from HTC bloatware and only use third party or MS apps), but some decent 3rd party media players that allow for excluding dirs when building up their library. See the "Library scanning: ex/including folders?" row in the chart in my dedicated article at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415063
btw, my article has a lot of other goodies you may find extremely useful

I've tried using third party players (TCPMP, Nitrogen, Mortplayer) but i can't control any of those with the forward/back buttons on the HD2 hands free, and when I lock the phone with the end key to put it in my pocket, the only player that keeps playing music is the Sense Music Player, all the others stop playing and i have to unlock the phone and hit play again.
Also, with Sense Music Player, I can be reading something on the internet, or using my GPS and I can still change songs without having to go to the music tab or switching applications by simply using the forward/back buttons on my hands free, so i prefer to skip the files i don't want to listen to (little annoyance) to having to switch applications or to not being able to lock the phone (big annoyance)
So in my opinion, the only thing that the Sense Music player is missing to be perfect is the ability to tell it which folders to scan for music, like Mortplayer does, for instance.
I use mortplayer for audiobooks, the ability to add bookmarks to mp3 audiobooks is great, no other player can do that as far as i know. (there is Overdrive Media Console, but you have to use THEIR audiobooks)
thanks for your reply, though... as i said, all help is appreciated.

btw, as far as button assignment problems are concerned, did you try third-party tools? see my dedicated article at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337602
Create a file named .nomedia in the directory in which you don't want them to show up. This works on Android, not sure what OS you're using.
Edit: You're using sense. It will work. Worked for me anyways. I have "Better Keyboard" installed and it stores all sounds on SD Card so I created .nomedia and viola, it's all gone from my music player. File needs to be blank, just needs to be named .nomedia.
Another edit: I guess you're not android. I thought you were talking about Android Sense. I'm sorry, but I can't help on this matter. Very sorry. However, if you ever get Android, there's a trick for you.
will check this out and see what I can do with it.

Tried it, but windows doesn't let you create a file with only an extension and no file name... it would have been great if it had worked! There's got to be a registry setting somewhere! if only somebody knew it and shared it!
thank you for your help, though! I appreciate it!

One workaround i found is making a playlist with all the songs on the device and skip all other audio files, but this is annoying and takes a lot of time...
try using A_C S2P AND S2U2
S2P will only detect play/pause. It will not detect track forward/backwards.
iam also looking for this solution on my omnia 2 with sense 2.5, went to the registry with no luck
Another option is to hide all folders you don't want SENSE to scan. Read more here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5504259
I have the same problem... I can't believe HTC didn't think about this issue!
In old version of windows mobile a dummy "ignore_my_docs" file use to do the trick.
Don't know if it is still effective in wm6 or if it works with the sense media player....
+1 i have the same question
The .nomedia works
This is what I did, I followed the advise of the .nomedia, but since windows does not allow a nameless file I created a "a.nomedia" and pasted into the folder I wanted to exclude.
Then with ES File Explorer in the phone I did a rename and removed the "a". It worked like a charm!! Now I can use HTC Sense Music and no third party.
.
Thread moved to Q&A due to it being a question. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.
The .nomedia worked however how do i remove it if I wanted to?
Hidden file?
Es file explore doesn't find it
