Theme messed my G1 up - General Questions and Answers

This happened like 2 months ago and I gave up so im back at it again I rooted my g1 with youtube video "rooting made easy" everything was good I put a new theme on it and it was cool well a few days later i wanted to change my theme again when I did it messed up my phone now it wont go past the Tmobile G1 screen so I went out and bought a 2g mirco sd card plus the adapter for the card reader and I just need a step by step to fix it I believe when rooting it I had the jf rc29 but Im not 100% sure i read so much about it and got lost so if any one can help please do

First you should always make a nandroid backup before applying a theme. Try flashing the ROM again (like if you flashed a theme on cyanogen flash the same cyanogen rom again) if all else fails wipe your phone and start from scratch.

Look man I dont know how to do any of that could u explain it to me

[Q] TiBU Icon gone, Can't Format Boot

Thank you for your great board and programs.
Noobie(3 wks), Droid X, 2.3.34
Current issues(just the facts m'aam)
1.TiBU Pro reported as installed. Shows in App mgr. No icon If uninstalled by phone or marked then reinstalled, same issue
2. Cannot format boot sector(partition?) Error Boot Formating (does it thru Rom Mgr, Clwks, and using GLD's total wipe procedure.
3. Can Ti BU Pro be run off the SD card, so that I would not have to go thru market to pick it up before doing anything else?, ie skip whole VRZ thing.
History
I have been having a lot of fun with Roms and themes. Installed Darkslide, couldn't get it working, next Rubix, worked ok, but never could get themes working over it, so I decided to SBF back to stock to clean out whatever was left over. Got back to working fine stock. Decided to try Liberty. Worked well as Rom but I liked Rubix Foc 2.0 better. Picked up Rom Man at this point(had been working thru bootstraper x rooted with command line procedure) Also, forgot, when I rooted 2nd time after SBF, I tried Do root a couple of times. Didn't feel comfortable with that "keep doing it til it works" mentality, so switched to Z4 Root . Worked flawlessly. Put Rubix back on phone but Liberty splas comes up before the rotating cube which does come up.
Thanks for your help Haven't found any of these issues addressed in any of the Droid forums, but Droid stuff is REALLY scattered, so if you could point me in the right direction if it is old hat I would appreciate it.

[q] help flashing freinds g1

I said I would flash cyanogenmod on a friends G1 because he was fed up with 1.6. I've flashed many custom ROM's on several different devices before but I've made a mess of things with this G1 and I can hardly hand back an unusable phone so I would really appreciate your help.
I rooted the phone using Androot, backed up the apps and settings using titanium backup and then the texts using a text backup app. I then downloaded Rom manager and flashed the latest clockworkmod recovery. Next I downloaded the latest official cyanogenmod rom for the dream/g1 and placed it on the phones SD card using my computer. I then re-opened rom manager and used it to select the zip file from the sd (to flash it) on prompt I checked two boxes one to wipe data and one to wipe the dalvik cache and pressed ok.
The phone rebooted into the recovery wiped the stuff, supposedly flashed the rom and rebooted. However it got stuck on the t-mobile g1 boot screen(it never showed anything else first or anything after) I left it for ages with no joy. I then tried wiping from the recovery and flashing again - same thing so i put cm5 on and tried flashing that. Same problem. Then i realised that it probably would not work because I would need to use DangerSPL as the /system partition is too small on the dream/g1. To be honest at this point I can't be bothered with to do that and this guy will be happy with anything above 1.6 to be honest so I thought I would try and flash CM4 because that's based on Eclair I believe (and so it not require I use DangerSPL or any other method to repartition the NAND). However, I tried it twice and still no luck.
At this point I'm somewhat panicking as I cannot seem to make the phone boot and it isn't even mine! Is anyone able to help?
Anyone? Please?
Look, at this stage I will forget custom roms etc. If anyone can tell me the easiest way to get this phone booting android again i would be very grateful.
Even if you could just tell me exactly how to restore it to stock 1.6 from here?
I have flashed roms on phones before - never had a problem but this is driving me crazy - please help!

Try this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803482. I hope it helps.
It's been way too long since I rooted mine to be of any real help but I shall try nonetheless.
Firstly, there is a guide in the G1 forum to unroot and get back to stock firmware: Here (but note that I've never done this).
I must stress though (admittedly from memory) that if you have flashed an SPL or radio image at all, be VERY careful about the order in which you revert back to stock (or go to get a custom ROM depending on which way you decide to go). The G1 is very picky, and flashing things (mostly SPL and radio IIRC) in the wrong order will brick the device. That said, if you follow the instructions you find to the letter you should be OK. But yeah, read twice, flash once.
There is a lot of information in the stickies in the G1 forum. It could take a while to wade through but it should all be there. Failing that, post in the Q&A or General G1 subforums and I'm sure a current user will help you out.
I apologise if I've just posted a bunch of stuff you already know/have read - like I said, I've not used the phone in a while - just trying to offer what I can.
Thanks
No worries now guys i've done it! It was quite complicated but its all sorted now. If anyone is trying this and has the same (or similar) issue then pm me and I will tell you how I sorted it.
Otherwise thanks guys and you can conciser this thread:

[Q] evo 3d won't boot missing pG86

Hi, I used to think i was pretty smart when it came to technology but this stuff is a little different. I sell cell phones as a "living" if that's what you call it and I tell people don't root unless you know what you are doing. Well seems as though I ****ed up. I have the 1.5 hboot. I successfully rooted with the S-on. I saw on here about the flash image gui thing and decided to try it out instead of using the sdk manager that I had been using. The first thing that I flashed was the clockwork recovery. I downloaded it and put it on my sd card then went into the gui app and followed the directions. So far so good as of then. I then went and researched a little bit and found a kernel I liked and downloaded it and put it on my sd card then went into the gui program and flashed the kernel on. I should have done the Rom and Kernel at the same time but didn't realize that til it was too late. I downloaded (CDMA-AOSP-AnthraX-2.6.38.6-REV_005.zip) kernel btw. Everything went very well and flashed the kernel on and ran fine. I then found a rom that said was compatible and that I liked (infectedrom-eternity-evo3d-35-r117-signed-122611_174844) and used the gui also. It went through everything fine and then asked if I wanted to reboot. I said no because I know that I have to go back into recovery and finish it there. I went and powered down then held the vol down + power button. This is where I Have my problem. When it came on it went and read the sd card and the quick time that it stays on the screen it mentioned about missing PG86 and like 10 lines of things like PG86diag missing etc. My thought is to get a sd card reader and check out what exactly i have on the sd card and possible just add the PG86 info on it. But I am lost and without a phone that works. Some help would be great. I apologize for it being long but wanted to give all the details

I am not sure what happened but I went and downloaded the stock boot and went into the android sdk and got it to work. flashed everything in recovery mode but now it just sits at the beats audio screen

[Q] MD5 Mismatch

Koodos Nexus S i9020A.
I took ICS update a few days ago and phone was very buggy... not to mention no data. I wanted Gingerbread back... Looked in this forum and found a post how to unlock and recover to gingerbread. A voila in gingerbread... But no service (no bars with a x). Phone funtions fine other than not being able to call, text, or use 3g. After futher searching I found that there's diffrent versions of Nexus S software. And didnt put the i9020a file on it.... so im assuming thats why its not working. I went back into CWM and tryed to restore my backup I made... I get MD5 Mismatch... I also wanted to be sure it wasnt my SIM card so i put my girlfriends SIM card in and same thing no service..PLEASE HELP... I know im a NOOB to the fullest.. but I really dont have the money to buy a new phone. Thanks in advance for anyone willing to give me some help.
