I HATE how slowly the trackball pulses for notifications. Can we get an app to adjust the rate (color too of possible)?
Missed call will support the nexus very soon
look here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=613095. I haven't tried it but it would answer my post too if it works. Rooted phone req. though.
Agree

I think everyone at that thread are talking about the LED flash. Not the trackball. I use notifylight and it works. Not 100% But def better then nothing. You do gotta have root. Try it. I will wait for the dev of Notifylight to make a N1 ver or improve more. Till then his latest works fine.

Hopefully that page is right but I'm currious, if it is a tricolor trackball, what in the Android OS uses it? I mean, why make it if nothing notifies in a different color? Makes me curious if that is a typo. So far I have found nothing that has customizable LED or trackball color on the N1. Anywone else?

Confirmed, trackball does light blue with incomming call and using a bluetooth headset so now we know it is mulicolored. As for the settings, yeah, thats just to turn it on and off and on is a slow pulse that sometimes is hard to notice. It does not let you customize it with color and frequency. So, hopefully the guy the developed missed call or notifylight can make more use of it!
Question, if its tricolor, what is the 3rd color? We only get to see blue and white for now.
The phone only uses three colors, but this, as we all know, does not represent how many it can completely do. It depends on the application that manipulates the LED under the trackball to re-produces unique colors from the already existing colors. We will see another color, only if it's possible for another color to be created using the already provided LED ~.~
I wish you cold program the trackball to bring the phone out of sleepmode, when pressed.

I was looking around for this as well and found that 'Lock Bot Free' brings the phone out of sleep mode when the trackball is pressed.
Now if only someone could figure out how to change the trackball color for notifications- then I can finally be happy. I was digging around in the 2.1 SDK that was released today and didn't see anything that I think would work. =(

is there any similar prog does the sleep mode thing? coz the theme of lock bot are uglier than wt we have on nexus. or any method to use default theme ?
Several devs today are reporting that color LED notifications are no longer accesible.
Google has taken away that feature.
Let them know this is unacceptable.

I am looking for a program to lock the touch screen and buttons, without affecting any running programs or the ability to see the display. I was happily using SensorLock, but it suddenly stopped locking and no amount of removing and reinstalling will make it work. Is there something like SensorLock out there that works?

S2U2 got some minor bugs.
e.g. when the phone is locked in S2U2, if someone calls you and hangs up in a short time, for example 1-2 seconds, the phone will hang and have to soft reset. i experienced this several times. might be due to the 3secs lag that's normal in touch pro phones, but if you get this with your touch pro, the combination will hang if someone calls and hang up.
im using throttlelock for now.
I tried S2U2, but it used a "screen saver" image. I need to be able to lock the keys with TomTom or SlingPlayer running and continue to see the program screen as it updates.
Pocket Shield is currently my favorite. Have tried a few others but I like this the best.
http://pocketshield.netserver01.com/
Thanks, but I don't see anything on PocketShield's site that indicates that I can run PS while TomTom is running and still see/hear the nav screen/voice.
throttlelock is pretty cool
and on top of that i use answerkeys disabler for when there are incoming calls
sensorlock messed up for me and pocketshield never really worked properly

You can try TouchLockPro
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444215
You can lock and keep the display on with the TouchLockPro Action Screen:
I've actually managed to get my preferred locking program, SensorLock, working again. I found the settings tab reenabled the locking! As my Brit mates say, works a charm!

No need for hard reset, it happened to me and all you need to do is install the app again and disable the ppsp in the application options and then uninstall.. it stops using the app skin and returns to the default HTC phone skin. (=
Hi
I have touchlockpro. Decreases this the battery time?
I tried almost all possible lock programs:
s2u2 - interface looks great - but truly it performed poorly in answering calls
sensorlock - i almost dropped my phone while rotating - LOL!!!!
pocketshield - used it longer - at least 3 weeks - main problem is that it goes to lock mode during a call and I have to unlock it everytime to enter a pin etc
throttlelock - for some reason couldnt install it
finally, i installed touchlockpro - i like this one - i like this so far...... haven't figured out battery drain part......
Hi there,
i've written an application that displayes recent tasks directly on the taskbar, so they can be switched very easily. I know there is a hardware button, but you have to press it for approx 2 sec (and tear it to), you have no option to determine which applications you'd like to have displayed.
This application allows you to do so and other things. Try! I think that it will be a must for some of you (of course not everybody, i know that).
I cannot post a direct link to the market as it is my first post here, so please search for:

Oh nice! Could be better if there was a red cross for exemple on each notification to kill te app .
And ICS-ized notifications too .
As i said, it is not a task killer . Those are extremely stupid IMHO since they spoil what Android was intented to be - it can handle it's applications and their lifetime on its own.
The only thing that I can understand is that killing an app can make you battery live a couple of minutes longer. But: if an application is written good, you won't notice any difference
Thanks for reply!
What I'm asking is not killing the app (excuse me if I didn't explained it nice), just the notification .
Oh i see. This option will be added in the next update (approx on friday ).
Wish you'll use it
Thanks!

How about some English screenshots?
Would it be possible to implement the ICS swipe to remove function and an option to change the background colour of the notification?

Just be aware this app is incompatible with "taskswitcher" from Market ( TaskSwitcher: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.shisho.taskswitcher ) - having both results in rebooting when home button is clicked, at least in my hands.

+1 for swipe to kill on ICS
Also gestures like swiping from the top to launch the notification bar could be practical for full screen apps.
Why not for india?

Would be nice if there was an option to remove the dots that take up the Notification tray at the top of the screen.. I forget if that affects the way android kills apps though..?

There are some existing mods, but none around the Infuse forum that I can recall.
In jest, I was thinking of black tape to cover the lights.
I was looking for some google images to post.
I was shocked when I googled "black tape" and then clicked on images.
Be Warned!..lol..some images is not safe for work, minors and the innocences.
BLN needs kernel level support, and there is no proper kernel for Infuse that supports BLN properly.

I have the same problem when watching Netflix. But I found that turning the screen off using the power button, then turning it back on using the power button and unlocking it will keep the soft keys off. They soft keys will stay off as long as you only touch the screen and not the soft keys.
There was support for BlN back in the Froyo days. There is a kernel laying around. If you can find it, find the source, then pm scott with it, he may add it in for us

Softkey backlights disabled via /sys ?
I have seen some posts regarding this issue on other phones where people are
echoing a 0 to files found in the /sys subdirectories
I have downloaded gScript and tried echoing a 0 to /sys/class/misc/melfas_touchkey/brightness and some other files that seemed brightness related - I have had no luck but wondered if anyone else might want to do some experimentation with this.
Also wondering if anyone else found another solution - I am going to try using a wide rubber band tonight.
UPDATE = I bit the bullet and obtained Total Screen Control - I went into the Softkey Backlight options, turned the brightness down to 0 and used the first of the two options (you DO need root) - it took a little bit of playing around (if I hit one of the softkeys at this point they turned back on) but after some trial and error I found that I could disable the softkey, exit the program, turn my ebook reading program on and .... the softkey backlight stayed OFF.
Awesome.
(Still interested in being able to do this with a shell script if possible, wonder how Total Screen Control manages it, any ideas?)

Ambient LED Flashlight is the newest flashlight application for Android that is both easy to use, and convenient.
Whether you want a push on / push off button, shake to activate feature, or a light/dark sensor, this application does it all.
It uses the ambient light sensor on your device to determine whether to turn on or off the camera LED. This helps to save battery.
Features:
- Automatically turn on/off LED depending on the lighting condition
- Built in light meter (lux reader)
- Screen light
- Shake to activate
- Simple and beautiful UI
- NO ADS!

I haven't tried it on the xt531. But I do know that the Galaxy S3, Nexus 4, HTC myTouch 4g, and HTC evo will work perfectly.
Why don't just give it a try and let me know? The app does not require any internet/location permissions like other apps.
Works great for me. Sensor in off is pretty cool.

On nexus 4 the shake on feature makes it feel like a real battery operated flashlight in that it turns off if you shake it slightly too. There should be a minimum on length when shaken and possibly a setting allowing you to define that. I like it though good job.
Any chance to use the screen of the phone as the flashlight? That way it can sit on the fatboy pillow and charge and can be used as a night light for my daughter.

hi
working good on galaxy s3 4.2.2
Doesn't seem to work very well on Xperia Z.
Double clicking the Turn on button in the middle creates a FC.
Shake doesn't work with Stamina (expected though)
Had to reboot after turning off stamina to make it work aswell, Shook my phone like 5 times to get it to work.
But this looks great. Looking forward for future updates.
Wow! that's cool! Thanks!
Looks cool, will have to try it out.
It works great, except: 1) the Report Bug button was half hidden on my LG Optimus Vu 2 1024 x 768 screen, 2) not responding to the back button to exit.
Works on my Evo LTE except for the auto function.
I appreciate the feedback and thank you for everyone who downloaded my app. I'm working on bug fixes. Expect updates in the near future

Would like to have the information being requested by jinkerz9430 and also want to know whether the LED notification light keeps flashing until the notification is dismissed or if it stops after a short while.
Testing all available led lighting app is a big ask.! I don't have time for that, but I can confirm the light keeps flashing until you open the phone lock and notification is considered read.

Asus BUG => Notification LED is not working anymore
Notification LED? What Notification LED?!
Notification LED is working for one app (telegram) after a factory reset with green blinking - but after activating gmail - all LED notifications are now gone and I cant find a way to bring the LED notification function back to work.
Now there is only the red LED while charging but no LED notification on my ASUS Zenphone 6 (8GB // 256 GB) , that function is gone. I bought a a sperate app (LED Blinker) - same result.
I really like that LED notification function and missing it is really disapointing and annoying!
In settings it is activated (I can not upload a small videofile to show the difference of the LED notifications between my Samsung note 9 and that asus zenphone 6)

- available colors are yellow, red, green
- led keeps blinking even after 25 minutes if the notification is not closed
