acer neotouch vs. xperia x2 - General Questions and Answers

Ive been looking into buying a new phone for a while and ive finally narrowed it down to either the acer neotouch f1 or the xperia x2. So... Which one should I buy?

pros and cons
so the xperia and the f1 are both loaded with great hardware but acer excels with an 1ghz processor where xperia only have the 528 processor. also the neotouch will be about 200 dollars cheaper. but on the other hand xperia has absolutely steller software with a beautiful ui a videoconference camera (still not usable in america) also it has a full keyboard and a 8 mp canera with flash where the f1 only has a 5 mp (which still takes great pictures). the xperia has a full keyboard which is good but also makes it alot more bulky. please... im totally undecided. is the extra 300 dollars going to be worth it. and speed is important is a 528 mghz processor going to be laggy? please help

If those were the only 2 mobiles in the world I would go for Xperia because it´s hardware keyboard.
But as they are not I would choos an HTC device defiantly

Best bang for the buck smartphone?

hi all , i am tight on my budget but i am looking for a decent android that is priced just right(buying one late this year ) ...i am looking for a sony phone , htc ..not samsung since their phone are a little ugly in my book ...i am eyeing on arc S ..are there better alternatives ? i dont really know much about htc ...
my priorities are
1.price - have to be decently priced ..but not high enders like s2 ..xperia s etc ..i cant afford
1.5 display- a good display is real important in my book
2. speed - decent speed should be great! single core or dual core ain't important
as long as it is snappy
3.camera - a decent camera is great ..not needing a front facing one since i am only 17
4.storage - minimal is enough since there is link2sd
i am eyeing on 2010 / early 2011 high enders like arc / arc s / htc incredible ...so what phone is in my reach ? i am buying them late this year thou ...
What is your budget? & Where are you?
i am a malaysian and my budget is about hmm...RM 100 ( USD333 ) but can fork out a little more ...

I don't know if it available for you but that's great. Just screen is small a bit. Same as iphone.

omg thats an amazing little phone you have there!.
I mean, darn.. i have a defy and i cannot film in 720 :S
mine cost 250 dlls with a 18 month contract :S
-.-!
omg...zte fury ?? for 20$?? u kidding man! the specs are even better than my ace! and my ace cost USD 250!
I recommend lg 2x. Really cheap (i bought one 300 euros 5 months ago) , its dual core with tegra 2, 8mp camera and the screen is nice. The only problems are
1)the stock firmware is bad but you can flash cm7
2)ram is only 512mb
i cant decide between 2x or arc s ...
2x have dual core , more ram and more internal
arc has better design , better screen ,better camera and bigger screen so in a sense arc is better as a media phone?
If you know anyone in China or an exporter then get a Xiaomi Mi One. Kills both The LG 2X and Xperia Arc on processing power, battery and ram with 1.5Ghz Dual core and 1GB Ram. You also get the amazing MIUI. Camera and screen on Sony probably better but the UI, extra power and large battery on the Xiaomi make up for it. $315 retail in China but in limited supply.
The ARC Vs LG 2X is tough. The Arc has better screen and camera and probably better battery too and will get android 4.0 officially very soon. The LG though is obviously dual core, but stuck on 2.3, so custom Roms will be the way to go.
yea..hm ...
heyyy bro
zomg!!!
get the htc EVO 3D bro! only 150$ off ebay!
specs: msm 8660 (dual core 1200mhz, adreno220 gpu, 1gb ram!, 720p, 3D video filming and watching, 3d screen, hdmi mini)
yeah, the EVO3D is verry good...
i like htc, it has a good case...good cpu...
and it is verry cheap...better than lg
greetz EMIL
evo 3d, the rom development is unreal, they have ics already too

What has being 17 and having a front facing camera got to do with anything?
Samsung Infuse on straight talk..

Xperia ray or HTC Sensation?

Hey all,
I'm looking for a smartphone for my dad. It will be his first smartphone so it doesn't have to be a new flashy top model.
I was thinking about a SE Xperia Ray or an HTC Sensation.
The sensation looks promising to me, but it's almost 200 euro's more expensive... The question is: is it worth it?
Maybe I haven't searched enough and you know a better phone for him?
We are looking for something with these specs:
- At least 5 MP camera
- GPS
- 1 ghz cpu (at least)
- 768 MB RAM
- 8 GB storage
It would be nice if we can keep the costs around €25,- per month.
If you have any ideas, please let me know
Greetings,
Marcoevich

I am xperia ray user. keep in mind that xperia ray has a small and narrower display (3.3 inch, 53mm width)
people with big fingers may have a bit difficulty to type in the portrait mode.
htc sensation has a dual core processor compare to single core of xperia ray. that's why the price differs so much.
you can consider other options:
- xperia sola (dual core, 3.7 inch display, 8GB storage, 512MB RAM, 5MP camera, but no front camera)
- samsung galaxy ace 2 (dual core, 3.8 inch display, 4GB storage, 768MB RAM, with front camera)
- nexus s
- galaxy nexus
you can compare the full specs at gsmarena.com
Thx for your explanation man!
We really like the xperia sola. Except for the battery... It's a shame imo that sone put such a bad battery in a such a great phone...
Do you know perhaps, a smartphone with the same specifications as the xperia sola, but with a better bettery?
Thank you very much
Marcoevich
I am the owner of a Xperia ray. HDMI isn't present...
Did I ask if HDMI was present? I only want a phone with the same specs but a better battery as the ray or the sola
Verstuurd van mijn HTC Desire S met Tapatalk

for me,I'm going with ray
Most Android phones don‘t have cutting edge battery life. They vary mostly with usage.
Most phones easily run out of juice by the end of a work day.
Seeing the budget issue(200 euros is something which I recommend rather saving) get the Xperia.
You should try out the phones at a local shop though before buying.

Best small phone... Really small (smaller than 3.5")

I have an LG Nitro HD. I like it fine, but I have been wanting another device to play around with. I will be getting a Samsung Galaxy S4 eventually, so I'd like my tinkering device to be something other than a large screen. I would love something that has a really small screen, but not a really crappy device.
Most things that I look at have had single core, 800 MHZ (or worse) CPU's. I think what I am going to end up with will be the Sony Ericson Xperia mini Pro. It has 1 GHZ Scorpion processor, 512 MB of RAM, and supports USB-OTG which is all pretty cool. http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_xperia_mini-3947.php
Does anyone have any experience with this phone? Does anyone know of a phone that is better or smaller? Also, does anyone know of any other cool, unique android devices?
I think u wont find any devices below 4' with decent enough hardware by today's standard. Either its big with full blown hardware or small but crappy and limited hardware. Yeah its sucks with current trend of bigger is better. Phone 4' and below is still much, much easier to handle with one hand than those humongous giants.

Currently using xperia mini pro and its a nice little phone. no complaints so far.
---------- Post added at 03:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:48 AM ----------
i would strongly recommend the Xperia Mini Pro. U wont regret it.
Sorry to bump thread but it's #1 forum link for "best small phone" on google
I have a htc wildfire s on android 2.3.6, as it only has 512mb rom so it can't do 4.x
Really smooth, lasts 2 days / charge (with cheap ebay battery).Glass touchscreen. Rarely notice which pocket it's in...
Also worth mention, my Desire C.
Can handle 4.x, yet no open wifi driver, works, but kinda "hacky" when not on stock rom. cheap touchscreen made of plastic. Aldo really small, but a bit longer. Battery can last 3 days.
Both phones can be bought used for under 100$.
Still waiting, I'd be willing to pay 400$ on a 720p 3.5" with a dual 1ghz, 1gb ram, that lasts 2 days on a charge, in the wildfire's size !

[Q] Xperia z3 upgrade worth it ?

hi,
I own an Xperia TX and was thinking of upgrading to the latest Xperia phone but I still haven't made up my mind.
For me the TX is a good phone but slow. Flicking through apps is not as quick as I would like and I was wondering is the Z3 much quicker ? The screen I have is 720p and is good enough for me but I do like 1080p on my laptop. Lastly the thing that gets me is the battery on the TX, I use the phone a lot for video and browsing and I barely scrap though a day, minding my use is a chore. Would the upgrade be much of a boost ?

Quad Code 2.5GHz
+ 3GB RAM on Snapdragon 801
means
Faster Browsing
Smoother Gaming
and improvement in all aspects
+ High density FHD Display
+ Stereo Speakers & NC
and ...
all these means do it upgrade to Z3 :good:
Went from Z2 to Z3. Upgrade is not phenomenal, but in my opinion, worth it.
Yeah the Z2 is only out 6 months. My Xperia TX is kinda slow... was the Z2 ever slow when you had lots of apps running and jumping from one to the next ?
My Xperia TX is :
Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8260A - Dual core, 1500 MHz, Krait
1024 MB RAM
720 x 1280 pixels - 319 ppi

Go for the upgrade. there's more than enough of new things in the Z3 compared to the TX. You'll love the phone.
The biggest thing for general snappiness is RAM. The difference between 1Gb and 2Gb is night and day
2Gb to 3Gb is not gonna be quite so dramatic so (from a memory perspective) I wouldn't think Z2 to Z3 would feel all that different but since the TX is only 1Gb, you'll definitely notice the difference if you upgrade.

Sounds like a computer. I do like my TX, it does everything I want it to do but I could never pick the phone up and do exactly what I wanted to do in my head - I would have to wait till it unclogs itself from whatever is in memory.
Do you think 3GB is enough ? I use a lot of YouTube, Twitter, Chrome, email app, and its never done with updates.
Hell yeah, 3Gb is a ****load of ram for a phone. My PC is only running 4Gb and it's not even very old.
My Nexus 5 is 2Gb and I never see any lag or hesitation at all. It's blazing. It is running vanilla android but even if the Xperia overlay is a memory hog (which there is no evidence to suggest it is) 3Gb will be plenty.
I just checked out my phone company and they are already offering the Xperia Z3 Compact for €459.99. The only thing is that they don't do colours and its black only. I was looking for white, damn.
I own a IPOD Touch 32GB and I take it out with me when I'm cycling. The only thing is that it is not waterproof and its never done switching itself on and off again(kinda broke?). I wonder if you could bring the Xperia Z3 Compact out on a cycle. I have an arm band for running with the Ipod Touch, not sure if I could bring Z3c out running either ? If so I could dump my IPod Touch and instead just buy a bit SDCard.

[Q] What about Xperia M2 Aqua (D2403)?

Well im planning to buy Xperia M2 Aqua, but it prings up some concerns about development for this phone. On paper it has very simmilar specs to Xperia M2:
Both have 1GB RAM
Both have 4.8 inch 540x960 screens
Both have 8MP camera
With only diffrence being in proccesors (witch from what i know makes pretty much all the diffrence)
1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8926 Quad Core (only for Xperia M2 D2303,D2306)
vs
1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8926-2 Quad Core (for Xperia M2 Aqua)
I dont really know whats the diffrence between both proccesors, doubt we can talk about compatiblity. But its not a big diffrence right?
So would there be any development for Xperia M2 Aqua, since i doubt its going to get a seprete forum (would be great though)?
- The screen is now marketed as IPS but it still has the greenish tint at lower light settings, so no improvement.
- The resolution is the same QGA and that's fine for a 4.8 screen in my books.
- The water-resistant covers eventually drop off after some months of use, at least this is what happened on my V. Anyway don't rely on that and emerge into water. When new it's ok but after weeks ... you wouldn't be the first.
- The powers saving are attributed mostly to KK, you can have that also on the non aqua model.
- As for the processor I can't say anything, except that on my 2303 the core 2 and 3 are pretty rarely used. A custom kernel would be really needed here.
- The glass is still the same, declared scratch resistant but not Corning, and smudging in the same manner.
- 1 gB RAM to my opinion in practice is not really enough anymore, but that does not concern Sony only.
- Sony is not exchanging our devices for the after 5 months after launch updated M2. Also consider a Asus Zenfone, Xiaomi, or a Lenovo in this class. They cost either less or offer much more for the same cash.
Well Xiaomi is pretty much non existant in my country, same for Lenovo phones. I was considering Asus Zenfone 5 for a while, but the M2 Aqua has like 70€ price cut, so its a good deal for only 199€. The major problem is that i'd like to get Cyanogenmod on it one day, but though thats happing.
