i flashed my blackjack over with the i600 carousel rom and it all went smoothly, i later noticed everything worked except for usb and bluetooth ive read around and noticed everyone mostly had just the phone not working but mine worked, anyways i tried to reflash back to my cingular rom and noticed it no longer said cingluar usb when i went into flash mode and the phone will appear for a short seccond as an unknown device on my pc and suddenly die. i cant flash back, i tried the flash fix rom and wasnt able to get anywhere with it without my phone communicating via usb. can someone help me my phone is useless now without usb/bluetooth
NOPE. there is nothing you can do at all. So say hello to your new brick. Someone did this in the excalibur thread. THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO AT ALL. SHould have done some reading bro.

i did read plenty but i made this flash around the time the rom first leaked out so there wasnt a "i bricked my blackjack" post to take notes on. the phone isnt a total brick though, everything works minus the usb option doesnt show up on the connection setttings, and bluetooth doesnt work. i guess ill try to sell it on ebay or something
no conclusive evidence of i600/i607 working after this!
though some have suggested using a serial cable (probably a Samsung D820 serial cable) to connect to the pc instead of usb and then reflashing the original rom, there is no conclusive evidence of the phone working.
You can try your luck with the serial cable. I am looking to buy one myself because I did the other way around, flashed a i600 with i607 WM6 rom and I ended up having an expensive paper-weight on my table.

its shocking how a phone as popular as the blackjack has little to no scene action, if this was an htc phone someone would have found a way by now
Hi everyone,
Well, i guess it had to happen at some stage!!! I am having major problems with my Uni and i have no more ideas on how to solve the problem so i thought that i would ask all my fellow uni lovers and see if someone might be able to help this old man!!
The Problem: I cant download any ROMS onto my Uni..
What Happens: I place my uni into bootloader mode, i then connect it to my computer and it tells me that the usb device is not recognised and active sync then dissappears. Then when i run the upgrade of course i get ROM errors, i have had error 114, 112 and 113.
The Specs:
I am running windows XP, i have reinstalled and reformatted XP 3 times now to try and fix this problem, using different XP packages, still no joy. I have active sync 4.5 and when i go into bootloader mode my uni says serial and 1.00 at the bottom.
What have i tried: i have turned antivirus off, firewalls off, reinstalled active sync, tried different usb ports, talked nice to my uni, and damn well threatened it as well!! The funny thing is, i have been downloading ROMs onto my uni for almost a year and this is the first time that it is having these problems...
From my minimal knowledge, i guess its a computer conflict with my unu but i just dont understand why after all this time its decided that it doesnt want to play!! If anyone has any ideas at all, please go ahead and jot them down and i will try, i love my uni and i want to make it good again!! Luckily it still works fine!!
Thanks everyone for all your help...
I think you have a problem with usb port of your uni...
Have you tried to attach your uni to another pc?

Hi,
- indeed as "pranik" says, try a different computer.
- does activesync always work ?
- be sure before upgrading to UNCHECK usb connection in activesync.
- don't use a usb hub
- try an "old" rom, one which you know has worked before.
- try to upgrade the bootloader to 1.01 NOT 2... (1... is for G3 = your device, 2.. is for G4)
be sure to read the wiki first about upgrading your bootloader.
greetings,
Wout
when you connect it over usb, does your uni show "USB" instead of serial?
Thanks alot for the ideas guys, its almost 3am here so i wont go and jump in with these ideas as i am afraid at this time of the day i will stuff stomething up!!!
I havent got another computer here at home to try another usb port so i will have to head off to a mates place tommorrow when the sun comes up!! Active sync has and is working, no problems there, the Uni says serial when i am connected to the usb port, now that is wierd, it should say i guess usb, right? wrong? not sure about that...i will try bootloader 1.01 as well and see if that helps at all...I have tried three different ROMS today so i will try an "older" one tommorrow and see if i get the same result, which i think i will...
Thanks again everyone, i really appreciate it, time for me to get some zzz's.

the moment you connect it, it should change from "Serial" to "USB" on your uni. This happens even before windows detects and initializes!
try plugging it into an alternate usb port on your system...
Thanks dream, i couldnt goto sleep until i had tried the usb thing and i tried all my ports and it stays as "serial" rather than change to usb...i havent a clue why its doing that, any ideas?
Funny cos it works as it should when connected to active sync...
take out SD and SIM, and charge to 100% before flashing and try again...
You could also try to use different USB cables. Damn things tend to deteriorate over time, especially when there's a lot of plugging and unplugging involved. Had been in a situation like yours several months ago, tried everything you tried and after a couple of hours I swapped cables with my E-ten P300. That did the trick.

As mentioned in shomki's post above; try & take out the SD Card from slot, go to bootloader mode & reconnect the USB cable. If connection changes to USB then that's it. Otherwise, you may have defective cable, usb port, etc., etc.
Had that similar problem since SPL upgrade from 1.0 to 1.01 & the only way to get the Uni to 'talk' to PC in bootloader mode (only) is by removing the SD Card. Strange!!!
Cheers.

I cant believe it!!
Thanks alot everyone, i took the SD card out and it WORKS now!! Amazing how something like taking out the SD card can fix this problem!!!
Now I am off to try some new ROM's!! Thanks again everyone, its great to have so many friends who jump in when ever there is a problem to lend a hand..
Great!
Just curious, what Uni variant do you have? O2, Voda, Dopod, etc? Is it a G3 (bootloader 1.x) or a G4 (bootloader 2.x)?
I had that very similar problem after applying super cid / sim unlock to my G3 voda Uni! Looks like some devices react to hacks differently from one another. This is the second time for this voda v1640, the first one is unlocking the extended ROM ... the only one that works is the patched extended ROM unlocker.
No wonder that a certain ROM build works well for one device while not for another!
G'day rh,
i have the qtek 9000 and its a G3 mate..its strange because before flashing this ROM i was using Ivans and i had no probs with that ROM..so obviously there is some sort of conflict there..
thanks again
lol seems like you didnt try everything...
glad you got your uni back...
the new roms are really good (ehem especially laurentius and beast's)
good luck!

actually, its not strange at all.
the uni supports flashing via SD card also, not just USB.
inserting the SD while in bootloader probably makes it think you want to flash via SD, so it makes problems connecting the USB.

hi shlomki,
it is still strange for me since i flashed 6 rom builds already WITHOUT TAKING OUT THE SIM OR SD CARD before the problem occurred. that was before when i had bootloader 1.0.
the only common thing between kanass69 & my setup is both are G3 & both of us did flashed Ivan's ROM. i don't suspect Ivan's ROM at all as the problem but instead i blame my SPL upgrade or Super CID'ing the device since i did screwed up somewhere in the process.
i'm sure other than me or kanass69, some are still flashing ROM's without taking out the SD what more the SIM card without any problems at all.
Anyone who wants to start a poll?
cheers!

i hope you are not using a USB extension hub. plus make sure that you are using original usb cable while upgrading
well this should be a tip for everybody who'll try to change rom. unless you upgrade via sd card, always remove the sd card before upgrading. saves you a lot of trouble.
luckily i have been successful with all my upgrades/downgrades with jasjar, tytn and touch using vista.
Hi farehmani & lukeap69,
With all due respect you are both missing the point.
First of all the problem WAS already solved.
Secondly, as posted above flashing ROM with the both SD & SIM card can be done successfully as I've been doing, before the STRANGE problem appeared.
Finally, we are just trying to figure out how this could be possible when I'm very sure that not all who are upgrading ROM's are removing their SIM and/or SD Card!
Anyway, I guess everyone had made their point and let this be an information source for future reference.
Cheers!

First, my palm 750 was having the problem that it got stuck like always, and when it finally started working, i had no signal at all, radio on, turned off and back on, hard reset, soft reset, nothing. So then I saw that there was WM6 and upgrading sounded like a good idea. Started looking for the rom and i found the voda WM6 rom, followed the instructions and when it was upgrading the battery felt cuz I didn't put back the cover (my bad). After that, I tried to turn on the fone and all I got is the Bootloader screen, have read a lot and all the answers are to format the card to fat32, or to switch computers, I've used like 3 different cards, checked on 3 pc's, used another card reader and all I got is the boot screen, if I put the card in it says loading, press the end call botton, start updating and then got stuck after splash1 and bootloader says ok. What I'm wondering is if the it is a hardware problem was before the update I had no signal, and now it got stuck on the gsm part of the update. Any Ideas?? this is a really expensive paperweight!!!!!
A couple thoughts...first, when it gets to the GSM portion of the flash it takes significantly longer than the others, so you might just need to be a bit more patient. Run it again and leave it alone for 10 minutes.
If you can get to the bootloader screen, your device is not bricked. You didn't mention what carrier your device is from..is it a Vodafone device? If so, you might be able to just connect the device to your PC while it's in bootloader mode and run the full Vodafone updater on your PC. There's a chance that this method might not work if a partial flash has left your device in a state that the PC based updater can't identify.

Thanks, and well it is a Cingular Treo, and I left the updater running several times for more than 3, 4 hours until the battery run out, and well, keep being stuck at gsm part, tried the tool that is on the update but after some % it got disconnected, any ideas???
im no expert. but if your using it with cingular (att) and you used a voda rom, i dont know how it would work in the first place without some sort of cid unlock? correct me if im wrong.
anyway. I would try that leaked att rom it it were me.

Well First never do a rom update off the battery second I have a att/Cingular 750 had leaked att on it ran fine then moved to the voda rom still fine
If the ATT rom doesnt work search for a WM5 Rom I think someone said it was posted in here. If that doesnt work, the first rom update I screwed up killed my device I called ATT said I tried to install the audio update and it killed my device they sent a new one and then i up'ed the ATT rom GL.
mtty perhaps?
I know, I know, there are loads of threads like this but I must be lacking something in the brains department as I've spent the last 6 days (since I got my orange tytn) reading this forum trying to understand how to unlock the thing without turning it into a brick and then to flash a rom and radio.
Everything I read on here has people contradicting other people and I end up not having a clue what to do in the end.
HEELLLLP!!!
To confuse matters even more I thought I'd got it sussed and then read about roms having/not having a CUBE!!!! WTF???? I then gave up and started typing this thread...
Here's what I think......and PLEASE correct me or agree with me....
Firstly I seem to be stumbling at the first hurdle since I have an orange tytn and that it seems is the worse to have for some reason???
I thought I'd start off simply by using the kaiser simunlocker to unlock the phone (by jocky) but then came across something called hardspl with all its variances, so OK lets go with the flow and dismiss the hardspl step for now assuming I can do it and read on...
Assuming I could ever find a program that makes a backup of the rom I've got I'd carry on with the unlocker until I get to the step (step 10) that says download the original radio..............this of course doesn't exist (1.27.14.32) so I look for a proggy that downloads the radio to use at this point. Here's where I come unstuck again.........no proggy!!
At this point I must assume that this may not be possible on the model I've got if I want to be sure I can make it original again.
Could someone please confirm this so I can accept the fact that I have to use what came with the phone and save myself a few hours a night getting nowhere...
Sorry for my rant but I'm frustrated that my old brain can't figure this out and giving up seems to be the only option. I completely understand that I'll get flamed for this since I'm a noobie and asking again what numerous otheres have asked but I accept that...
I have great respect for all you guys that can actually understand this on first reading and especially the people who produce this stuff....
Thanks again folks

hello, lots of stuff to learn, first thing, which sounds like you did is read, next hard SPL
see the 2nd sticky in the forum,
go down to kaiser wiki, then rom tools wiki, the 3rd choice, hard SPL cid unlock, read carefully and install, once completed, now your phone is ready to flash roms, (for Kaiser) most come with radio or recommend radios to use and not use. if you have problems with hard spl then use the wiki again to troubleshoot and the first 2 stickys
im out
just sell your kaiser and stick to a razor......lol.....j/k....just listen to p1tater...hes right!!
Hey family guy,
A few months back I got an Orange TYTN II just like you. I read for about a week on here untill I felt confident enough in the steps needed to flash a new ROM. First off I Hard SPL and then went for Dutty V3 ROM which was perfect untill I then felt clever enough to flash a new ROM a few weeks later. Due to not sim unlocking correctly the first time around, upon a new radio being flashed to the phone It locked my SIM.. untill I found out the true way to SIM unlock the phone.
Once you have Hard Spl and SIM unlocked you are well away. I know at this point you are probably feeling pretty confused with all this but believe me it is well worth it in the end.
Oh and FYI.... I can confirm that there is an Orange original Rom on here and a few compatible radios should you ever need to revert back to them for some reason as I had to do this myself at one point when trying to work out where I was having issues with something.
All the best
Chris

PMSL....That's where it went, I knew I had left it somewhere. Now where are my damn glasses I can't read a thing.
Unlock your Orange Kaiser
Here's my experience ..
1. Basically HardSPL your Tytn II to facilitate a cooked ROM that can be 'sim unlocked'
2. Install the Cooked Rom
3. Run the Sim unlock generator code
4. Phone is *UNLOCKED !*
5. Install a ROM of your choice
6. Install a Radio of your choice
Here's the stuff I used:
READ ALL THE POSTS - READ ALL THE POSTS !!
** USE WINDOWS XP OS with Activesync!! **
1. HTC Kaiser Hard-SPL v1 - CID Unlock & Flash any ROM to your device
You will know you got it right when it says either 1.0.HardSPL or 1.0.OliPof.
NOTE: I had problems here and had to force it with JumpSPL1.93 because HardSPL would not install.
2+3. I used Jockyw2001 Kaiser Sim Unlocker v0.1
NOTE:
> The file has three steps ... 1, 2 & 3 so you can't go wrong:
> Step 1. Installs the 'patched' Radio
> Step 2. Generates the key code for unlocking (on your PC) which you enter into the Tytn.
> Step 3. Installs a replacement radio
4. My code was a series of numbers that I had to type into the screen.
5+6. Read my signature for what I'm using today (it changes)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All instructions are on screen with prompts.
I sweated for days before I chanced it and it took me about 15 minutes from start to finish but you end up with a pucka HTC looking Tytn II and not the Orange variant.
A few important pointers from the bit I learned:
1. You cannot do this on a WM6.1 Tytn II, you have to go down to WM6.0 - As mine was WM6.0 it didn't matter.
2. Vista is a ***** for doing this and you have enough things to think about without the PC's OS .. USE XP !!
3. HardSPL once done, the Tytn II is clear for all future ROM + Radio upgrades.
4. Bootloader = Power button + Camera button + Reset with stylus
5. Hard reset is Left softkey + Right softkey + Reset with stylus
6. Always Hard reset after blowing any new ROM before using.
7. Backup all your contacts etc. to your SD card with PIM Backup 2.8 before you do anything.
8. Remove the SD card before you begin.
9. The 'Cube' isn't always included in the ROM's - I use this CUBE
10. Most Roms come with their own 'loader' called 'Kaiser_RUU' so you don't have too much to think about.
11. Stick your Radio and ROM information in your signature, you never know when you may want to go back and forget what you had installed ;-)
12. Installing a new radio on a phone that isn't SIM Unlocked will result in a LOCKED TO ALL NETWORKS phone - So SIM Unlock it !!
Enjoy
PS. Let me know if you can't find the files you need.
So what I'm asking is are you sure of this point?
Hi all and thanks for your comments advice and encouragement..........just quickly looking at the old age thread I am one of the oldest at 47!!
The thing about this thread is that it's happened again and there are only 13 posts!!
There's been contradiction about the orange tytn above. Some peeps say it needs to be unlocked (and that they've done it but don't mention what radio they're using), and some peeps say it doesn't need to be unlocked!?!?!?
There is my confusion and my hesitation to do anything in case I lock the sim out completely. That I can't have as I need the phone at all times to get in toch with my kids (humans or small goats depending on what your state of mind is!).
Here is what I think I should do...
1.) Use hardspl to unlock something (not sure what at the mo) so that I am able to flash
2.) Unlock the SIM lock using kaiser sim unlocker (or not! jury is out, but not sure which radio to use so scared of brickifying it)
3.) Flash my choice of rom (but not sure if I have to then flash a radio or if the radio is included in the rom)
That's about all my poor tired OLD.......VERY OLD brains can figure out and there are enough 'I don't knows' there to stop me in my tracks...
I'll keep reading though but in the meantime I could do with gleaning info from someone who is in the UK on orange and maybe has a recent model...
I'll be 48 in August, so it's not just the Youngsters who play with the 'phones.
(Does that make me the oldest ?)
I bought the TytnII from the Orange Shop in Leicester just before Christmas but didn't have the bottle to unlock it for months ... Main reason was the unlocking 4 months ago was £20 !! and i didn't want to brick it either.
I spotted someone selling the unlocking service on ebay about a month ago, so I knew someone had cracked it here (and some cheapskate was selling the service.)
Feel free to private message me, if you need to we can talk it through over the phone.
I may have added to the confusion - I do not have an Orange phone, adn was questioning whether you need to SIM unlock the phone b/c I hadn't. Later it was pointed out that Orange phones may be different and need to be.
mattarse you simply added to the confusion in my mind............for other it was probably very clear
ajs007, I will PM you and perhaps a quick chat to get me up and running would be great!
One thing I do know though..........when (yes, I've gone from if to when) I get more knowledable about this I'll be one of the first peeps there to help anyone out if I can!
After a long chat with ajs007 (for which I am very grateful) I felt I had the confidence to go ahead and install hardspl using the jumpspl route.
My tale of woe follows as it was unsuccessful every time...
I followed jockys instructions,
1a. download the 5 attached files
1b. connect your PC to phone with a USB cable
2. REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!
3. copy JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe to your device and run it (make sure the USB cable is still connected). If you still get a white screen then reset your device and now try JumpSPL1.93-KAIS.exe
4. after a few seconds "USB" appears on the phone display
5. unplug and replug the usb cable
6. deselect "Allow USB connections" in Activesync connection settings
7. now flash hardSPL (run KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-hardSPL.zip on your PC)
After step 3 (for both 1.56 & 1.93) I get the tri-colour screen (not mentioned above) shortly followed by 'USB' on the white at the bottom (step 4).
(I guess this makes it a quad colour screen instead of
I then did step 5 and step 6 as above and moved on to step 7 to run kaisercustomruu.exe.
I then get a screen which says verifying phone settings and a further screen which has 'current info about your pda phone:' and lists nothing!!
Another line that says 'image version:' and has nothing listed and yet another line that says 'select from below:' and has nothing next to it!?!?!?!?
There is a button that says update the current ROM version but I dare not press it if it is going to update with nothing!!!??
On top of all that I read contradiction again where the instructions above state that you must deselect 'allow usb connections' yet when you run kaisercustomruu.exe it states that you must have an activesync connection....
I'm now really confused and convinced it just isn't to be. Sorry Alan it did sound so easy when you explained it but there must be something different about my phone.........I'm going to throw myself or the phone or both of us off a tall building.............now Im totally depressed
Exit stage left feeling very sorry for oneself...
Looks like everything was A.O.K. for flashing..
IMPORTANT ** You didn't say if you had SPL xxx PoF on the Tri Screen ?
I didn't have any reference to a ROM on the install screen but it worked, probably because the ROM was in the same directory and it didn't need to look anywhere ....
I think (but I'm not 100%) the activesync USB connection is an XP v. Vista thing, and you do need USB connection in XP.
In summary, if you did have SPL xxx PoF on the Tri Screen you should be good to go.
From totally & utterly confused to successfully running Dutty's 6.1!!
Lots of bonus points and many thanks to AJS007 for allowing me to bother him with all my questions and lack of confidence.
Here's my tale...
Firstly I tried to install hardspl running from my PC and a USB cable but I got the infamous white screen!
I then followed the instructions for using jumpspl version 1.53 (for some reason the instructions I read didn't say remove and re-inset battery therefore I didn't do that bit!).
I got to the bit where 'USB' appears on the screen and pulled out the cable then re-inserted it. I have no idea why you do this but I did it. When I pulled the cable out the screen had 'Serial' on it and when I re-inserted it, it went back to 'USB'
I carried on to the next step and unchecked the 'Allow USB Connections' in Activesync (again I have no idea why you do this) and went on to run 'kaisercustomruu.exe'
Here's where I hesitated and got stuck. The program started on the PC and got to a point where it interrogated the phone, shortly after that I was presented with another screen that waited for my input ready to 'Update' but I hesitated since there was no information listed under 'Image Version:' and 'Select from below:'.
I wasn't sure what to do here and cancelled the whole thing in case I bricked it
After further investigation, more reading and speaking once again to my mentor AJS007, I decided to go ahead and throw what caution I had left to the wind, so I pressed the 'Update' button.
After a few more screens I got to the point of no return and gritted my teeth.........nothing happened........I disconnected and re-connected and tried again..........nothing again............after a third time though (and I don't know why) it burst into life and I got the 'percentage screen'.
At this point I did think I had trashed it but plodded on regardless in the hope that I hadn't and everything would be OK. Thankfully it was and on entering the bootloader screen I saw 'olipof'..............all was well
This gave me the extra bit of confidence I needed to go through the unlock procedure and then on to flash Dutty's latest. I did get to the point where I had to enter the unlock code and it took 2 attempts to accept it for some reason........I can't explain that either!!
It was all in all a stressful time and involved a lot of pacing up and down when the ROM was flashing, taking what seemed to be hours to complete and slowing down to an almost stop at certain points, but in the end it did all work and I am now left with a transformed T2, but with the following little problems,
1.) My bluetooth headset has to be paired every time I want to use it!
2.) When I go to re-calibrate the screen (with the cross hair) it freezes up and I have to do a soft reset.
3.) My screen 'tap' noises have disappeared (except when I press the 'start' button)
I haven't tried to reflash the radio to see if that will take care of the bluetooth issue yet but I intend to do so in the next few days.
For anyone that's interested I'm using the radio ROM that was included in Dutty's latest build (WM6.1_5.2.19209) which is 1.58.16.27.
Finally, once again my thanks to AJS007 who went to the trouble of helping me in my few hours of need.
If anyone new here would like to ask me any questions about my noobie experience please don't hold back!!
Hello,
I'm planning to get the xda serra - can I treat it like a htc branded touch pro and follow the rom and radio update instructions available here? or will i need to do different things?
Also are the sim unlock instructions same as a htc branded touch pro?
Could someone let me know.
Thanks.
I've just bought a serra but i'm scared to do anything with it.
could someone answer the question made by spark.
so no Serra users out there with cooked roms?
ive done it and its fine so far installed one rom 8 times with the updates,read the wiki and you will be fine,read about hard spl and read about it good-read twice if your not sure then the world is your oyster.just remember that if when you plug it it usb and it doesnt connect you can put it into bootloader mode and install a different rom if active sync doesnt work right.read about the differnet roms out there.
and keep checking the forum for updates etc.
best of luck and remember read about it before you do anything.
if your on o2 it should be unlocked anyway mine is, just use hard spl (hard spl for touch pro)for it dont use any other type eg... for htc diamond,touch etc as its only ment for the 1 model i think(iam i right guys).
Thank you for the answer (its given me the confidence to go buy one).
I'm going to get the Serra some time next week (now that i know the touch pro cooked roms will work). I'll probabily use the ROMeOS² version as it looks nicely cut down.
Yes, I'm using a cooked ROM on my Serra. Works a treat.
After reading all your replys i'm gouing to finally use a cooked rom on my serra.
I (like spark, sort of) have got a serra but never did anything with it. I never knew if i could just treat it like a touch pro (now i do).
Is there a original serra rom out there incase i need to put back back to its original state for warranty reasons? - i've browsed through the rom section but cant seem to see any.
The original XDA Serra ROM is available - see the link in the wiki.
I did try a different ROM on my original XDA Serra - basically the original HTC ROM, but I did have lots of problems with GPS. It did turn out to be a hardware problem and my device has been exchanged, but until I am confident every feature is fully working I'm not going to change the ROM again. Plus, other issues my original XDA Serra had (such as device.exe errors on keyboard slide out, random freezes, running slowly) dont' seem to be issues on the new one.
See my signature - the O2 ROM only stayed on my device briefly - it was OK but GPS lock was a nightmare (although I see O2 have issued a fix now). I will be cooking my own once I get a little time, but found the PROven roms to be good bases.
