hard decision. !!! - Touch Pro, Fuze General

aye guys. i am really having a hard time with my touch pro. it is so fkn slow and unresponsive it makes me want to break it. im thinking i should sell it and get the iphone 3gs?
is it a good idea?? thanks people
thanks in advance
wuchacarlsee

that's a downgrade decision,,, iPhone 3GS is no better than TP.
I am aware of your hardware problem with your keyboard. I am having this problem as well. I went to hTC center yesterday, but it was closed due to extended holiday. Don't you worry about your keyboard thingie, it is easily fixable. While the OS, just install Energy ROM, the latest, 24th if I'm not mistaken, it speed is blazing fast,,,
consider buying hTC Leo instead of iPhone 3GS,,, but it is your decision, your money is your own money,,,

OMG just not an iphone!!! better get some newer HTC, best HD2 if u want it faster, but depands on the money u can spend. even a new nokia will be much better then an iphone. but stil HTC is a HTC. i bought my few months ago after having a 5 years old Blueangel and believe me, that one u wanna smash in to the wall. touch pro is muuuuch better of course just get newer one and ull be ok.

..........
please not another one...theres enough iPhone owners in this world already...just like the first guy said...its a BIG downgrade...the TP is really quick with EnergyROM installed..i recommend before giving it up...should solve ur problem btw....
but if ure ever gonna give it up..get an Andriod or the Leo(HD2)..andriod is an intresting OS but it still hasnt matured yet...id save ur money and get the HD2 if i were you...but thats just me...its totally up to you bro..im not gonna hate u if ure gonna get the fruit phone...its ur decision
good luck

yeah. i just like the simplicity and the fun you get from the iphone. cause i heard 3gs has a 600mgh proccesor. which is really fast. i can score an iphone 3gs for 600 but hd2 is like 1000 or something like that.
thanks anyway guys.

I would certainly try a custom ROM as it really brings the touch pro to life. Lets not forget that the iphone is quite dated compared to what HTC is producing (in my opinion) and the build quality of HTCs are far superior, so if you did throw an HTC against a wall it would probably bounce off and still continue to work
Have you considered Android rather than windows mobile. I used a Hero in T-Mobile last week and was very impressed with the speed of the OS.

wel.. you have to buy it.. we have it already.. hehe.
fitrst: I would never buy a 500 euro phone.
I got it for free with my new contract....
About what ya wanna hear....
I really like the phone.....
It does everything I expect from it...
There are a few things HTC forgot , but with a little bit of help in this community it all works quite good...
And 4 me all the annoying things are solved here...
Offcourse everyone has another opinion.. but the most people here in the pro section are satisfied users...at least that's what I understand....
The phone is very simple in use....it's handy... and you can do a lot with it....
the new version of windows mobile is running smootly as well here...
I like the windows because there are SO many apps you can use...
The performance is good
the functionality is good
the camera is good
all fine for me...
But I'M PROBABLY NOT A HEAVY USER....
I guess I'm somewhere in the middle ...
well good luck with your decision..
agreed with above.... works pretty well and the major complaint I hear is that the battery is crap but I get 3 days out of it given I dont bluetooth or wifi.
I won't go into the good things so just assume everything ios good for me.
Only points to note that bother me some are:
1) when the phone locks... the volume buttons still work...WTF and that is really annoying and I have yet to figure out how to stop this. I tried reading the millions of pages here on this forum but have yet to find anything to install so this will be fixed.
2) heaver then normal phones. For me I'm use to using nokia or SE phones so when I switched to a WM based phone, the weight takes some getting use to. If u have been a WM user all along, u wont have this problem... really a personal beef I'd say.
3) Thickness.... it pretty thick in my opinion but only because its height and width are pretty compact which makes the phone seem think in the hand... I get its pretty much the same size as other WM based phone but still getting use to it.
I take it ur lvl of expertise is not as shallow as mine as I'm still very new at WM so I dare not touch flash the ROMs or tweak the registry because if I F it up, then I have no clue how to fix it.....
For u to write on thie forum is already half the battle won as the ppl here as the best bunch I've seen and the developers here are awesome...
To ur original question, I would rate this phone 4.5/5 if ur into WM phones. You can consider the Diamond BUT u will hv to live with shorter battery life and a bit of slower performance du to half the internal memory RAM. My 2 cents worth, hope it helps u out a bit.

iPhone 3GS or HTC Touch Pro 2 - Which one do I keep?

Hi all, I'm really struggling making a decision here so I'm hope your comments will sway me.
I have been an avid user of HTC WM devices since the very first XDA and always loved them. During that time I have owned almost every device that has come out.
Over the years it's always made me chuckle when new phones come out boasting about certain features that I've been enjoying for years and my repect for all other brands has dimished as a result. IPhone being the perfect example. I got one when they first came out and although I was impressed with the speed and interface the lack of file compatability and the simple things like copy and paste made it unbearable.
Anyway I've just been shopping for my latest phone and couldn't decide between a touch pro 2 and giving the new iPhone 3gs a try so I got them both with the intention of selling the one I like least.
The trouble is I'm trying really hard to hate the iPhone and choose the Pro2 and it's just not working (
Please help, I really don't want to betray HTC.
Why not give Android a shot? It's more advanced than WinMo, and faster too, and miles ahead of iPhone while providing a similarly smooth experience.
I went from a Diamond to the Hero the moment I tried it.
You won't be disappointed.
Throw both away and get an HD2
Excellent device:drool:
I certainly concidered android and had a good play with a hero. While I agree the interface is smoother than WM it simply doesn't come close to the 3gs. The available apps are again better (or soon will be) than WM but sadly no where near as good as the 3gs.
God, listen to me. I sound like someone sticking up for iPhones
Already asked before...

TP2!!!!!
Get the TP2 if u need a keyboard, or get the super HD2 if u don't!
I'd say stay with whichever you like best. It's not about WinMo vs. iPhone, but rather what fits you best. If you prefer the iPhone, so be it. If the TP2 fits your style better, good for you. I have an iPhone (1st gen), an iPod Touch (1st gen), a TP2, and a Kaiser, and I have to say that they're all great devices, but I personally prefer the Windows Mobile devices because the OS is more flexible/hackable, and it fits me better. I don't think you could make a wrong decision between the two, since they're both quite decent, so I'd say go with you gut.
iphone 3gs
Different functionality
Hi all
I have a TP2, I have friends with both iPhone and Hero (Android). It strikes me that if you are going for communication and particularly need a full exchange service then WM is your best bet. Android, or at least the Hero, seems to be best for social networking and the iPhone seems generally good at everything with a very smooth interface.
Cheers

I was one of the first unlocked Iphone users when it first came out. Very smooth interface, you can't go wrong with it. Simply an amazing product for simple-minded user.....it was cool back then. I would get an iphone if it wasn't 'cause...... my grandmom has one, my niece has one, my cousin has one.......and my 5 other friends each has one.
touch pro 2 wins!!!!
Suggest u to keep 3gs.. I also keep my 3gs with me now
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
I would keep the 3gs
like it..
its very nice.. n i like it to mch... really nice,,,
Of course keep 3GS. Cool (not in every aspect) and fast OS, many apps/games, reasonable good built quality (but glossy battery cover is questionable). I would keep 3GS.
Keep both, the iphone is good for mms and sms but the htc is more customisable. if you had too let one go i would leave the iphone and go with the htc. (personally)

HTC HD2 versus iPhone, Blackberry Storm 2

Hello,
I have been recently thinking about changing my HTC Touch Cruise for something newer. To my mind obviously came: HTC HD2, iPhone, Blackberry Storm2.
I know that specifications-wise, HTC wins. BUT...
I have recently experienced the new Blackberry and realized that: the operation system works much quicker and nicer than Windows which HTC uses. It also seems to have less problems -> my current HTC needs a good hard restart once a week or so, because it freezes on more demanding films or some music.
I thought that Windows has much more applications available - well, I am not so sure any more once I realized that thesaurus.com produced their dictionaries for... iPhone and Blackberry. Windows has lost its market and is not taken into account by the newest developers.
I am also wondering whether 4.3'' isn't a little bit too much -> I won't be able to put it into my pocket any longer!
What do you think? HTC seems to have created a very beautiful palmtop, full of great specifications but it has also committed one crucial mistake - it used Windows...
I would be grateful if you could share with me your opinions. Maybe my fear is unjustified and the newest HD2 works perfectly in all the aspects easily beating the competition?
I have to agree with you.
I have been a WM fan for the last 5 years or so and have become disilusioned with the OS. I too was looking for a change and had been watching the LEO. This is indeed a good hardware spec, but imho let down by WM6.5. I decided that I was after a better consumer experiance and opted for the iPhone. Everyone raves about them for a long time now so I decided (after much researching) that I would try one. I have not been let down by it yet. Mind you, I've only had it 3 weeks. I'm taking a punt that in 18 months or so, WM will have caught up or Andriod will have matured, but until then, I'll take a walk on the dark side.
So far I'm loving the fact that is just seems to work and it integrates with my car hifi perfecly. I can now play music and do hands free over Bluetooth. Under WM I could only do handsfree. Surfing the internet is now almost as easy as on my desktop. Safari browser beats anything else I've tried so far. The on screen keyboard was a worry at first, but it's easy to use, especialy in landscap (I have big thumbs). As a music player, well it beats WM any day of the week.
I know I will eventualy hit it's limitations, and when I do I'll consider jailbreaking, much like using custom ROMs from here realy. Untill then I'll keep an eye on the mobile development and look forward to seeing what happens in 18 months.
Good luck with your search, for now I have found my answer, I hope you find yours.

Personally I'd go for the HD2, as I rank spec more than software. The iPhone is a but too common and its pricing is a far too high for what you get (mins and txts etc). Blackberry has the same problem its too common, I know loads of people with Blackberrys who only use them for Facebook, but if your the kind of person who send and receieves loads of e-mails get a BB as they do it better than WinMo and iPhone.
Alex
Here we go again..........
Leo of course
Well I have been WM for several years and thought I would give the iPhone a trial. A BIG MISTAKE. Its dredful and im getting a HD2 next week.
I thought i'd add my comments to this, i've been predominantly symbian s60 / win mob for years now due to the fact that they "do" everything. But i think its fair to say that windows in all guises comes with the fact that as soon as you start to ask a bit of it, it sticks it's fingers up at you and stops working (symbian too, but to a lesser degree). Usually resulting in a reboot. I recently had an upgrade to do so i started researching into what i might get. In the end, after a spate with symbian, i v much wanted a win mo device but was ever so curious about the iphone. So many ppl couldn't be wrong, right? I was also deeply tempted by the blackberry bold too. I ended up going for the iphone as the upgrade and bought a TP2 as well. I just couldn't do the iphone thing on its own in case i hated it.
Pleasingly, i don't. The iphone is everything a win mo phone isn't, and vica versa. The iphone is completely dependable, never misses a beat, does what it does do perfectly and apart from some of the crazy apps, completely dull. It is frustratingly good. Even multitasking isn't really much of an issue due to push notifications and the like. I'd love to say the screen res is an issue but it never is. Safari is in a league of it's own. But it is dull. I use it as my everyday phone because it's dependable, but i use my TP2 to mess about with, i've had that many different ROM's on it it's silly, i follow forum progress with different things going on with bated breath, excited to see if they can pull this new rom off, or a linux port. It's exciting, i can modify the hell out of it and personalise it my way. I can send files via bluetooth without having to jump through hoops (unlike the iphone).
So, it comes down to what you want it to do, and if you can put up with less or more customization. There is a lot to choose from out there now and it's hard to decide. Look at the palm pre, and droid, and what about the n900 0n maemo?? Whatever you decide, you'll end up with a really good bit of kit, cos the mobile world it going potty with new stuff at the mo.
Just one last note, in defence of win mo, it may be getting a bit left behind in terms of bling, but it still remains one of the most functional os's out there, it's just that the young guns have caught up now.
Hmmm as I don't like iPhone (because everyone has it) and I wouldn't go Sony Ericsson (because I don't believe in their great ability of doing palmtops), I am personally trying to find reasons for continuing with HTC.
1.Is Windows 7 going to be released "soonish", so that if I buy HD2 now I might get some (hopefully) acceptable o/s?
2.There is also Droid Eris / HTC Dragon / HTC Passion / whatever it is called. If it is "HD2 on Google Android 2.0" then the question arises:
------is it just the case of software? If yes, I assume xda-masters will sooner or later allow easy migration between these two systems, or are there any technological obstacles? If this were true then this would be the best option -> One phone if you get bored - you can always swap to another o/s...
3. What was the market response to Android 2.0? What do you guys think about it, as compared with Windows?
I'm using Android at the moment having used WM for the past few years. It's version 1.5 and I'm loving it. Can't wait for 2.0 to come out for the Hero.
It hardly ever needs a reset - it 'just works'
The HD2 is one bad boy! No one knows when Windows 7 going to be released...maybe 3rd Q of 2010. But WM6.5.1 should be a lot sooner for the Leo...
I think its funny that every ppc that htc release, we seem to have this debate "blah" vs iphone, or is "blah" the iphone killer, this has been going on since the touch diamond, personaly i dont think any ppc can be compaired to the iphone, as ppc's are tools with functionality where as the iphone is a toy, it has no real functionality, yeah it looks good and there are lots of apps availble for them but how many of them are useful? and as for "killing" the iphone its clear by now that it has a far too big a fan base to be killed off, anyway thats my 2 cents lol

Well said!
+ 1 for this!
Every new phone and threads start with comparatives...
Very, Very UNFAIR comparison!!!
Seriously, HD2, go against someone ur OWN size (aka Xperia X10, i8910 HD, Motorola Milestone, N900, Acer F1)!
Leave iPhone alone! It's NOT even a smartphone (moreover not even a basic phone as it still lacks some basic phone functionality that people had for over a decade) as it doesn't even do multitasking...
What's "blackberry"?
bye

please advise

i have a diamond..am due for an upgrade in june..i wanna know if i should get an HD2 , nexus or hero...maybe wait for something better like an HD3( rumoured) i wanna know if the HD2 is worth it for me to be stuck with it for two years..i hate the diamond for freezing every now and then but love it cuse its an htc. i wanna know if the HD2 wnt give me same problems. i know it runs windows which is hella huge on ram causing all sortsa problems. android on the other hand is light weight and should not ideally give too much grief. please help. any nexus users? what do you think? is android really better than windows mobile? im curious about android since virtually everybody is taking that route.
If you can wait 4 months and $ is not a prob, go for the new upcoming devices.
If you canĀ“t wait longer go for Leo, That great screen is not comparable on Nexus or any other...
Android is too young and immature for now, perhaps in the future could be a good option to WM but now now.
WM is more business oriented OS
Just my opinion.
Good luck,
Agree w/orb But, the Nexus is an awsome android beast, and has the best screen colors OLED (which is simular to tv's)
See the N1 forum for the full spectacular scoop: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=557
thank you guys...guess i will have to wait till june for newer phones.not like i have a choice my contract expires in june. hopefully whatever comes out wont be too steep. the nexus is tempting but the leo looks like a real lion....

HTC hero, anygood?

Heyy everbody,
at the moment i have a htc Pharos, and im looking for an upgrade. Ive seen a few HTC Hero's on ebay for around $450 and that fits into my budget, so i was wondering if Hero's are any good? Also i have Bluetooth activesync setup on my Pharos and it works great with passthrough, but is there a way to set up the same thing on a android. btw i dont have wifi, so thats not really an option.
The hero is a good phone, but its a little out dated. If you want android, get a desire, legend, nexus 1. If you want to stay on winmo, get an HD2, they are only ~$300 on ebay right now

Pretty spot on. Hero is outdated a bit...
Thanks, ive been looking at android phones as they are in my opinion much better than winmo. The legend seems like a good phone for the price but ive heard its a bit outdated, but then again if i buy a HD2 and can i put android on it?

The Legend is the Hero's replacement. I own a Hero, and I can say that it's definitely not a "new" phone for mid-2010. Yes, it's nice, and the development community is active (90% functional Froyo? I'll take it!), but its features have been superseded a million times by high-end Snapdragon+WVGA phones. If you like the Hero, then take a look at the Legend instead - it has slightly (very slightly) better hardware plus a different/better version of Sense UI that includes some widgets and features not found in the Hero's.
Like some others have said, the hardware is outdated and by the end of this year with the 1.5Ghz Snapdragons coming out, the Hero will be long forgotten but still sellers on eBay will try to get $400 for it Personally I like the Hero design but looking at the lifespan, I'd say the Hero should be worth $200 max at this point due to the RAM, CPU, and display limitations.
You can always get an HD2, put android on it, but it will never be like owning a native Android phone. I know, from experience. But, I would suggest the Desire or Nexus One. I personally have a Nexus and LOVE it
