I got a new orbit 2 a few days ago, only to be dissapointed about the web browser capabilities.
I tried opera, but dont like how the fit to screen option distorts the page and desktop option makes the page become massive and difficult to navigate.
Also, is there anyway way of watching online videos SMOOTHLY?
The flash plugin works but its really choppy.
Not sure whether ill be keeping the upgrade, taking offers for it.
The choppy video is probably because of the driver issues (you can read more about it in the forums if you search a little)
And did you get opera 8.5 bundled with your phone? Opera 9.5 is much smoother and better looking than the 8.5 version (imo), and i'll suggest you try upgrading to it to see if there is any difference.
I watched the video regarding Opera 9.5 but its still not released, and by the looks of what I gathered from other forums, people are becoming impatient.
Im currently using Opera 8.65 and no it wasnt bundled with my phone.
So will those driver issues fix the choppy video playback?.
Normal videos saved to the device work fine its just the online ones that use a flash applet like dailymotion
Try Skyfire (you'll have to sign up for it), is really amazing, is very fast and smooth

Need to do some more research on it before you get it I guess.
Anyways, CorePlayer, TCMP player all play videos fine.
ALL browsers are FINE and work great for different things.
I myself use pocket IE for sites that are in mobile format, and opera 9.5 "beta" for sites that are not in mobile format. I would use opera mobile if it wouldn't install over my 9.5, instead of pocket IE, but all my text based sites work fine in pocket IE (ebay, paypal, howardforums, flickr, youtube, etc)
I don't really know who watches youtube videos or other internet based videos via their browser, I've always seen them being watched through TCMP, CorePlayer, WMP streaming or HTC streaming media.
There are no official driver updates coming.
I am unsure as to the technology that Dailymotion uses, but if it's youtube based then you should have no problems.
I think you are looking for a desktop in a pocketpc, which no one has quite yet. Maybe an HTC advantage, who knows.
Doesnt matter what phone you have, all software will run the same if the devices were made in the same time frame.
Oh and I assume orbit 2 is in Europe somewhere? None the less, Skyfire is available to U.S. numbers only apparently for it's beta. Maybe NetFront would work for you, try that. I hated it.

Have you tried Opera Mini? Their new beta v4.1 can be downloaded and really works great. My favorite browser so far.
try opera with limit paragraph on. that's amazing.
Opera 9 (beta) is working really well, especially for a beta. Panning in web pages is pretty smooth most of the time and as the above poster said, with limit paragraph on, reading articles on news sites, etc is doable.
The negatives are it is a beta so bugs here and there. Other issues are the touch keyboards (numbers only) don't work and neither does pocketCM (space between every character). I don't believe there is flash support in the browser either.
I use PIE for youtube/flashbundle combo.
whats flash bundle?
do a search on it. it allows you to watch videos from sites like youtube (the real youtube not the mobile version of it). those sites use flash video and the flashbundle is a plugin for PIE that enables that functionality in PIE.
I have the flash 7 plugin, is that the same thing?
Whenever i try and load the non-mobile version of u-tube on PIE,
The whole phone just crashes and i have to take the battery out!

You know there is a little round hole on the bottom of the device next to the USB called the 'Reset Hole"??? Put the stylus in it and you won't have to get the battery out....
Just search for TCMP and FlashVideoBundle cab files and install them.
When you go to youtube.com and watch a vdieo, it will give you an option of saving or playing the video. It uses the true youtube video not some crappy mobile version as said before, and it's really smooth. I watch cartoons and shows that way that i can't get on my tv, it's a life saver. really great quality and resolution for my cruise.
Try NetFront 3.5 for the ultimate web experience on a phone It's a class of it's own
You can get it here.
http://www.access-company.com/products/netfrontmobile/browser/35_wm_tp.html
Picsel browser is fast and smooth and does a nice job of re-formatting, also reads .PDF files and a bunch of other things
Opera mini 4.1 is very good for browsing although I don't like the way you input web addresses, and lack of file save features.
And for tabbed browsing newest Opera or Pieplus

If the player on the page is based on Flash then possibly yes...
I just installed Flash 7 and it hosed my PIE. Froze the phone and had to soft reset. Could not view any page with flash content. I uninstalled and I'm back to being able to view with TCPMP. So basically flash 7 is not compatible with PIE... I was thinking about trying it with Opera Mini but didn't even get that far. Is Flash 7 necessary with Opera Mini or Opera 9.5?

To view youtube you have to open youtube application. You cannot view youtube videos through opera or internet explorer. So use youtube application
flash is not yet fully supported...try skyfire browser if you want to surf flash websites...
I was wondering if there was a way to get all the youtube videos when clicked on in opera 9.7 to open in the youtube application. Opera used to open the mobile version of you tube which would link to the youtube application when I chose a link from google, now however, It links to the youtube site and I get the flash error message.
I'm going to flash a new ROM onto my HTC HD2 soon when they get the HSPL sorted, which will hopefully restore this function of opera. However, I was wondering if anyone knew in the mean time how to change this in the settings.
I personally cannot find anything in opera:config.
Also when there are embedded youtube videos in websites is there a way to click on them to get them to open in the youtube application?
I've tried installing flash for opera on my phone. Which I think is what changed this setting. I removed it because it caused problems with Opera crashing.
I've also tried searching for this in google and this site but all I can find is people wanting to do the opposite, open youtube in opera.
Apologies in advance if this is in the wrong place, but I cannot seem to download videos from Youtube using the latest Dolphin Browser on my N1.
To clarify, I went to m.youtube.com on WIFI, searched for the video that I want, clicked it, then clicked Download This Video in the pop-up. I then saved the file as video.mp4. However, nothing happens, nothing is added to the download list, and nothing along the lines of video.mp4 appears in Astro.
Anyone can advise on this?
^ does your program have anything to do with Android? I don't think it is what he's asking for
if you want to download youtube, why not use Tube Downloader in the market, it is free
I EVEN CAN'T access to my youtube, i email them [email protected]
and the problem has solved
i use the latest version dolphin browser HD v5.0
i prefer the mini version.
as a beginner, i really appreciate their timely support.

I usually dont like to ask for help, but I have exhausted my resources searching and trying things. I am trying to watch hulu.com videos on my windows mobile device. Things I have tried and failed are listed below. Any suggestions, fixes, or workarounds are greatly appreciated and will benefit the entire community not just me.
1: Using Skyfire hulu.com attempts to start the video and then comes up on the screen that hulu doesnt support anonymous proxy configurations and that you must be in the US to view etc.. I am in the US and have even tried using my PC's internet connection for the internet on my Mobile Device and it says the same thing.
2: Using Skyfire fancast.com tries to start the video but just says loading and never actually starts the video.
3: Changing the UA string to various other things.
4: Using Opera Mini, Opera Mobile, and Pocket IE. All of which do not get as far as Skyfire.
Uzard web browser nearly does it. It plays the ads on hulu, but can't load the shows in its viewer (tcpmp).
What would be awesome is a hulu downloader. Most of those are dedicated to porn, though, lol.

I've been hoping someone would find a fix for this issue for several weeks now.
