Hello everyone!
I recently got my brother's old HTC Magician. It's silver, and it has the T-Mobile MDA Compact sign on its case. I found the original box, and realized, that it comes from either Austria or Germany. My bro was using one of Cotulla's ROM-s, and I successfully upgraded to the latest one. (The device has 64MB RAM, and now WinMob 6.5) Big respect to Cotulla, the ROM is awesome! But I would like to try the original T-Mobile ROM just for fun, and for compatibility. I lack the Bluetooth and the Camera features, and I read the instructions, which say there is no way to fix it. I tried to downgrade, but the software gave me an error. I read on Cotulla's site that first I need to uninstall the current ROM, and then rename the exe file, and install it. But I think it works only with his ROMs. So I would like to ask for your help in downgrading to the original WM2003 T-Mobile ROM. Thanks in advance!!!
I also want original 2003 SE Rom in Eng language.I want to have original version (only original full work without bugs).

you should use "MaUpgradeUT_noID.exe" instead of "ROMUpgradeUt.exe". just take it from there http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=MagicianRomUpgrade - copy it to the same directory as ROMUpgradeUt.exe and start it.

hi! i have an xda mini with windows mobile 2003 in german. but i need it in english! can somebody explain me how i can flah or install another language?!? unfortunately i have no idea and never something to do with xda's so i need a good description! maybe a hint to a howTo. i have an usc cable, is it enough to flash the xda?

pls, pls, pls follow the threads about 'TMO official 1.13 ROM' or 'upgrade to radio 1.13'.
The 1.13 TMO is WWE, Means English, and requires flashing . You'll need the maugradeut_noid.exe too, as you're changing the language.
Hope this helps, cause I don't feel happy posting the whole procedure again. It's well described in those threads & there's the sticky topic on rom upgrading too.

As long as it is a magician you can use the TMO-rom. Keep your O2 original ext-rom at a save place though, you might need it for some specific settings. When you skip the TMO branding you got a plain 1.13 installation. I recommend the camera patch & BT patch though as a minimum, they're not branded.

Did you unzip it first? You'll need to unzip this one & put the maupgradeut_noid.exe in the same folder. Then execute the maupgradeut_noid.exe instead of the maupgrade.exe. Might be you need to run it twice, don't know why. Editting the RUU.conf helps too I read here.
Edit ruu.conf with notepad add on top [CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1

Don't know there are a lot of unspecified shipped roms on the ftp, maybe you can find out with a hex-editor which brand they are.
When you reload the current ext-rom there shouldn't be a problem for O2 settings though .

I have an XDA Mini and I used the english ROM. You have to use the "noid" version of the ROM updater. Search the forum for instructions. The error you got was country code, correct?

Yes, that's what I'm wondering too, can someone please tell us what's the best english rom out for this phone?
I guess we all are on same boat, trying to find the best available ROM for prophet after WWE offcial ROM as its been quite a while for offcial ROM upgrade for this device.
Check the FTP
There are several cooked ROMS avail. There are several 2.3 versions, and the 3.2 Beta is also out. Do a search. As for which is the best, it depends entirely on you. What I do is READ & READ, until I get an overall sense which is the fastest, most stable etc. In the end, what many people say is best for them, may not be good for you.
But like you, I've been usin the Dopod official ROM since May, and feel it's time to inject new life into my device.
If anyone care to give a short review of the ROMs they've tried in this thread (or make a new one), it'll definitely help a lot of people...

I am using 4PDA/Frog's 2.3 ROM from the FTP site. Its fast and stable. The problem I had with the PDAMobiz rom was its full of stuff and made to device slow, also it reset sometimes on its own. Also the backlight would come on for no reason.
I have tryed all the ROM's from the FTP site and this is the best IMHO.

is it possible to update an G4 Device by copy the nk.nbf file from the above package to a "G4 Rom" and replace the existing nk.nbf?
For example in the RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_Ship-NoVendorID Rom?

If you do not really know about it, don't try. Because it might be a possibility to break you prophet, if that nk.nbf has spl 2.xx.0000 inside.
Use itsme pdocwrite to upgrade to G4 by replacing ru.nb with your new os rom. (you have to use command "typho5.exe -x -v nk.nbf" at dos prompt to extract os-rom, check at ftp for typho5.exe tools)

Best ROM for Prophet (M600?)
well I can't really answer that can I but I can report the following.
I started off with the Orange oem ROM. Quickly I decided I wanted to get rid of this as I'm not with Orange (and I'm an incessant tinkerer), so I went for the RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_Ship-NoVendorID.
My phone was unlocked using the IMEI-CHECK service (so not sure what they unlocked exactly but it seems happy for me to re-flash it).
I ran with this ROM for maybe 2 months- no real problems BUT I really missed the voice speed dial.
A couple of days back I went for the 16Mb_AKU2.3_GSM02.30.21_Extrom-4PDA.ru.exe
This seems to be stable so far, a "bit" more responsive maybe, but with the unexpected bonus of having voice speed dial again!!! Yes, this ROM has voice speed dial - hoorah.
So for any of you old Orange M600 users who upgraded but lost the voice speed dial this could be for you.
I've not spotted any major problems at all. The only odd thing was that the COMM Manager hard key was not bound. A 2 sec job to fix that.
Now I did do a soft reset before letting the hard reset process finish with the customisations. No idea what happens there in this case.
I <believe> my phone is G3?? The IPL is 0000 - is that correct?? I read and checked everything I could and it seems to have turned out OK.......
Is there any way that someone could do up a quick, idiot proof tute on how to update your rom on a G4 device?
Also, is this AKU2.3 rom 16Mb_AKU2.3_GSM02.30.21_Extrom-4PDA.ru.exe in russian or english? The website link which shows the AKU2.0 version is all in russian...

its not cid unlocked and since i think its a g4 chip, im very hesitant - i dont want to end up with a break - have no customer support to send to. i dont need a lot of functions.
by any chance anyone has a wwe orange rom around? would that work without cid unlocking?

Just take the no vendor id dopod rom wwe from the ftp. It worked great on my G4 SPV M 600. It has also been french.

if i were you, i should take the new Qtek Rom:
ftp://[email protected]/Up...rophet_220734_2207114_024721_QtekWWE_Ship.exe
just download it, extract it with WinRar (i know it's a .exe file, but you can extract it) and replace the romupdateutility with this one:
ftp://[email protected]/Up...AKU2.3_LvsW_edition/ROMUpdateUtility_NoID.exe
copy the nk.nbf file in the same folder with the other files and just run the romupdateulityNo_Id.exe to update.
This Rom runs very stable and fast, much faster than the dopod one.

I haven't noticed any major speed improvement over the Dopod rom. Actually, my machine became slightly more unstable. Maybe it is only a software problem though. I have not reinstalled the applications that are running from the SD card, but I relied on a restore using sprite backup.

Yep that's right. Not only that T-Mobile didn't yet release 6.1 for the Vario III, they don't even provide any kind of an update for the old 6.0
Acoording to their regulations of course, you wouldn't need this ROM since you're not supposed to replace it anyway...

Can't use the reconstructed cause my hard-spl had a bad installation and my kaiser stucks in the boot mode , so only an original rom that doesn't check for country and vendor IDs can save me.
I don't need an update , but just any version installable on this device to let me install in the right way hard-spl.
In my Diamond the hard-spl installation was fine , I was unlucky with the kaiser , mtty commands can't help me , just proved.

The version you need doesn't exist...
edit: What's on the phone now? The normal SPL? But a cooked ROM??!!
Since that's impossible to my knowledge I assume that you are stuck in Bootloader with the normal SPL and the official ROM is still flashed but doesn't boot. If that's the case you might hypothetically (I'm not suggesting you do ;-) )try taking it to a T-Mobile store and tell them it just stopped working.

Getting an Orange locked SPV M5000 tomorrow with WM5 on it. Had one of these a long, long time, about two years ago. From UK.
Confused by exactly what I have to do to unlock it and put a new WM6.1 ROM on it. Which is the best ROM to use (so many around) and what is a vanilla one against a full one?
Is unlocking as easy as it appears in the Universal article? Does it have to be unlocked to flash the ROM? I have downloaded the files in anticipation.
Sorry for such basic questions but I did all this a couple of years ago on my old one and have not been near one since!

exe file is an executable and rar file is compressed
If you refer to install the ROM, just follow the instructions and don´t worry about the file format
