I'm running Faria's final edition of WM6 on my Wizard, pretty much stock except for mun's keyboard and a few apps. This rom is almost perfect for my needs.
The only problem is that when the wizard is connected to my computer USB port to charge, it won't go to sleep... In fact, if I press the power button, it turns off for maybe a minute then turns right back on again!
I searched the forums looking for an answer and came up with very little. I do recall seeing some tips for preventing this behavior several months ago but can't seem to find the post anymore (???).
Actually I had this issue fixed on this rom at one time, but then I went and re-flashed about 20 times, trying all the latest cooked versions out there before returning to Faria's. But now I can't recall the fix for the power-on problem!
So, could someone help me out and re-post the fix?
Many thanks in advance...
Don't know of a fix, but this happened to me also when using Faria's ROM and still happens now using the NBD ROM.
Have same problem with Core 2.0n
Same with my XDA ROM. I thought thats a WM6 feature that I have to live with.
It's a common problem then...
Ok, this sounds like a common problem then.
I've been thinking about it, and if I recall, I think the posted fix might have been from mrfrazz or dr puttingham... I'll try to PM them (not that they know me) and see if I can get them onto the thread....
Wasn't from me.
Ok thanks for that mrfrazzz.
How many folks have this problem? Does anyone have a fix?
Sorry, not from me either.
remove the pin password (start -> settings -> lock). used to solve this problem for me on older WM6 rom's. Don't know if the problem still exists in the newer roms...
nbd 7.4 has this problem and also wm6 business edition.
I am using the Dopod Pro 838 [Mobile 5] and have the same issue, when connected it does not sleep, no matter how many times I close the screen off
Thanks everyone for chiming in. So this is a widespread problem.
Is there a solution? Or is everyone just living with it?
For what it's worth, I've searched and searched and can't find that post with the solution. The only reason I can think of is that the post was removed. (?)
Oh well. I guess I'm going to have to live with it like everyone else until an answer turns up. If anyone has any info or ideas post here and we'll try it out.
WM6 TNT 3.0.... same problem
settings, system, backlight settings?
i'm using an enhanced xm6 and i don't seem to have this problem when i charge with the usb at work (no activesync installation). perhaps you may need to disable that, because i recall reading somewhere that activesync tends to wake the phone from time to time to constantly resync pim information.
if you don't like the backlight on, you can go to settings, system, backlight, and change the settings there. I know on faria's roms, the backlight goes off after some time, even when it's plugged into the usb. t-mobile's default rom and the one i'm currently using don't turn off, unless i hit the power button. (but unlike what was initially stated, my phone doesn't turn back on).
or in case i've misinterpreted something...i recall reading that in some roms, the phone would keep waking up due to the push service and it would require some combination of locking the phone to get it working. in those cases, i believe you have to read the respective rom thread. i know farias "the real thing" thread has info on it.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look into somehow getting better control over activesync.
Yeah, that's about where I'm at, just turning off the backlight and pretending the phone is off. But it still kind of irks me, all I want is for the phone to sync then go to sleep until I need it. And stay off when I hit the sleep button...
I've had this problem forever, and I consider it a "problem" because my phone is overclocked to 273, and I'd like to keep it off to keep the temperature down. It's definetly not a rom issue, but like someone else stated, it's an activesync issue. Even disabling sync options on activesync doesn't seem to help, only thing I can think of is uninstalling activesync, but who the hell wants to do that? Maybe preventing activesync from starting or running in the background on windows start, until you want to open activesync manually?
This is the random wake-up problem that first apeared in some build of WM5 (I guess). I too can't find much info on it but I guess you could remove the pin prompting. It happens due to activesync/wmdc and usb connection while the pin is enabled. I guess this is a bug in WM6 which is yet to be fixed. Hope microsoft and WM6 team reads this thread.
May be end tasking activesync in both phone and system will help. I haven't tried as I live with it and is not an issue for me.
with PhoneAlarm there is an option to disable the ActiveSync scheduling within a profile (eg profile work no ActiveSync, while ActiveSync will still be usable at home)
Maybe this can help you?
btw, PhoneAlarm has some other very nice features, it's still my nr 1 app for the wizard!
Hi,
Is anybody else experiencing issues with losing sound on their phone? I have been experiencing this on a number of different roms and initially put it down to an incompatible radio, but I have sinced flashed back to one of Dutty's roms (including radio) and it happened again. I have now flashed back to the stock bootloader and HTC rom and it has happened again!
I am at a bit of a loss now - am in the process of hard resetting my phone to see if it happens on a bare device as I had a number of apps installed although none of them had caused this problem before that I am aware.
Would be interesting to know if anyone else is getting this - don't know if its possible that any of the recent radio/rom releases could have done something permanently damaging to cause this. Will be sending mine back to HTC if it happens again, unless someone identifies a fix?!?
Cheers!

happened to me yesterday. i had to hard reset and my phone still isn't customized 24hrs later.
Do you remember what apps you had installed?
I'm starting to think all of this has something to do with MSVC.
well i have consistently been using version 19209 whilst having these problems. Going to try 17913 again and see how that goes.
Mine too
I've been getting this alot lately, too. I think it's either MS VC or S2U2 1.01, or a combination of them.
I've done the same thing, flashed multiple ROMS and radios, but I've stayed in the WM6.1 family. I was running Confused Stu's Vista 1.2 forever and it suddenly started doing that - loosing sound. I went to 1.3 and then over to a Dutty build, and have now settled on L26_WM6.1_PROV4_(3.51.502.0_WWE)_Multimedia... This time I went slow and only loaded a few apps at a time. I thought it was Calendar+... But I don't have that on here yet.
It seems like it ran fine until I put S2U2 on here, but like I say, I use MS VC to announce everything so maybe it's some action there that didn't happen until after I put s2u2 on there, or maybe coincidence.
I wonder if anyone else is seeing this? I think I'll start over without S2U2 - even tho it rocks! - and chill a week.
Do you use S2U2? Do you use Caller ID in S2U2? How about slide 2 answer, slide 2 end key options? What about blank screen on talk option?
Thanks,
H
s2u2 v1.01 could be the culprit as i have been using it. After slowly reloading apps this morning sound had gone again, and one of the last to go on was s2u2. I don't think MSVC is the problem as it has never done it before plus its cooked into a lot of new roms, whereas s2u2 isn't. Am going to uninstall s2u2 and see what happens. It was one of the last things I put on and sound had been stable before that.
Im getting this issue as well, what radio are you guys running just out of interest, im running duttys 6.1 build 19199 with radio 1.65.14.06
I haved the same problem and resolve it by flash ing TNT 19202 Series PRO with radio 1.65.14.06. Best regards.
Well, the issue came back on the stock rom when I bit the bullet and installed a slightly older version of S2U2 (0.99p)!
I have now reflashed Hard-SPL and the latest Dutty Rom (with MSVC included) and have resisted putting S2U2 on and so far, so good!!
Hey, Zaf, do you run S2U2 or MS VC?
I flashed back to the AT&T Tilt stock ROM (downloaded from HTC web site, incl the radio) and reloaded S2U2 1.01 and MS VC. I lost sound within a couple of hours.
I did a hard reset and have not installed EITHER... I plan to run for a day like this, then put MS VC back on for the weekend, and then S2U2 after that.
I think it's S2U2 and I think it's been around since .99p. But I think 1.01 is worse than .99p or 1.0.
Well, at least we're narrowing down the variables!
Hey, everyone - watch http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=390977
for a similar discussion.
I flashed TNT 19202 Pro thus morning and the sound died few hours later again... Don't use S2U2. I posted more here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2207600&postcount=18
I have lost sound 3 times, it is only through the speaker though, my bluetooth headset continues to work. Once I flashed a new rom to fix it, the other time it fixed itself over a few hours. The third time is happening now!
I have never used S2U so it can't be that. Have been using Dutty's roms, my radio is currently 1.58.16.27.
are we talking about sound in calls, if so i have been experiencing calls dropping and other people can hear me fine but then it suddenly goes quiet for the other caller and they can barely hear me? is this a fault with my kaiser or to do with flashing with custom ROMs.
I think we need to be very clear here what the symptoms are of a specific problem.
My symptoms were that sound would initially be ok after flashing a new ROM (whether it had MSVC cooked in or not) and then I would go through the process of installing my 'regular' apps which has always included S2U2.
Then, at some point after doing this, all sound would disappear - from the device and also during calls (interestingly, during calls, the other party could not hear me either).
I cannot explain for one moment the issues that people who don't use MSVC/S2U2 - some of these might be explainable by radio issues but I am not an expert by any means so would not be prepared to blame that!
All I know for certain is that up until recently I could use MSVC 1.6 build 17913 alongside S2U2 0.99 with NO issues at all - this is why I think that MSVC 19209 combined with S2U2 is the reason.
One other thing, I have not tried S2U2 on its own, without using MSVC, mainly because I am fed up with flashing! Perhaps someone else could confirm or deny if this has caused problems?!?
Yes, my symptoms are EXACTLY as the captain describes in his post... Everything fine for a little while after flashing, but soon after I get all my apps reloaded I call someone, or someone calls me, and there is no sound. No audio at all from the speaker, bluetooth, or in-call speaker. The caller can't hear me, either. I have to soft reset or power cycle to get sound back but it doesn't last long.
All day I've run with the AT&T stock tilt ROM from HTC's web site, still hard SPL'd, and I did not load MSVC, S2U2, or HTC Home yet.
R 1.27.14.09
G 22.45.88.07H
D 1.62.00.00
I have run all day with no sound problems. I am now about to plunge and I think I'll put MSVC on there first and run another day, only because on a whole it's cooler than S2U2. Lets see what tomorrow brings.
Hey, I just found this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=391262
I am using an older build of MSVC... I grabbed the latest build and will give that a shot first. What build are you using? I WAS using 1.6.17913 but aparently it is old. I just grabbed 1.6.19209
Its interesting that you're seeing the issue with the older build of MSVC as I never had it with that build, although I can't remember if I used that build with the latest version of S2U2.
My phone has gone a whole night now with no issues without S2U2 installed, so I think that proves there is a link. Not sure if I can be bothered trying S2U2 without MSVC as, like you, I prefer having MSVC over S2U2.
What is also interesting is that there has not been much (one post I think) mention of this on the S2U2 thread. I may bring it up...
The trouble is, in 6 weeks of trying to deal with the problem by re-flashing ROMs and radios, I would still have the issue. Even though I never install MSVC nor S2U2. I even had the problem on a "clean" setup - just the ROM, I setup Internet connection, ActiveSync wireless Exchange and Note2Self - that's it nothing else. And I would lose sound within 3 to 20 hours with this setup. That's the cleanest setup I could get - I don't need my phone if I don't have Note2Self )
Just saw another of the symptoms... Another thing it would do would be to just crash after a call. So hitting END leaves the screen stuck with whatever's on it, and no way to get off that dialer screen. OK doesn't work, though when I push my VC button I hear it beep. This just happened after a call.
Anyway, I did a power cycle and it's back now. But I do not have S2U2 on here, though the MS VC lady is getting a real workout today... Anyway, sergeb will still tell us that neither app matters, anyway.
Uggh. Still resisting urge to put S2U2 on here.
So using threaded sms has become an issue. After my long chat touchflo still shows #s under the sms tab. I have to go in and click each message until it dissapears. Is there a way to fix this? Not to mention its wasting my battery because the light keep going telling me i have an sms
I was having the exact same problem recently. what ROM are you using?
Provens rom 1.03
I have the same problem with JD's ROM (1.03651.3) but didn't have it with the stock ROM, no idea the version number.

You could disable the light until a solution is found to help with the battery drainage.
Unfortunately I don't have that issue so I can't offer any help other than the battery help. Sorry.
Yea i also had the issue with the new ROMeOS and the PROven ROM, but no issue with NATF or stock. The only thing I can recommend to you is to use a different ROM or revert to an older version, because I think it has something to do with the newer versions.
Im also having this probelm too. it first started when i was still using my diamond with duttys roms, the older ones didnt do this and then all the sudden it started doing this. and first rom i flashed on my fuze had the same prob.. seems to be a limited amout of people having this issue but hope we can figure it out. If any of the experts out there have any ideas let me know and im willing to test things.
Apparently the latest ROM is fixed...20931, I believe.
I just did the WinMo 6.5 update and now my phone is all messed up. My internet will not work says it cannot connect. My text are all messed up and are not working properly. Am I missing something, or doing something wrong? This is very frustrating! I thought this update was supposed to be better.....

Can you please be a little more specific? Which ROM did you flash to: stock carrier ROM (if so which carrier), a cooked ROM, etc.?
TP2 WM6.1 to 6.5
A bit more info; and someone here will be able to help.
I flashed two TP2's from WM6.1 to WM6.5 last week & both 1st flash running fine (MR-1 Upgrade from PCD).
Initially had some WiFi vs. ActivSync compatability isses, but worked these out. Not liking a few of the 6.5 menus & sytem resources, so looking to cook custom ROM for one of these this week.
Hi!
I downloaded the new Windows Live Messenger and it works like a charm. The problem is every 5-10 minutes it tells me my connection is lost and it´s trying to reconnect, however the connection had never been lost and it never reconnects. Also the interface becomes glitchy, the soft buttons dissapear, so instead of having a frame around close(when you press the top bar) you only have the word close and touch x taskmanager doesn't have any X's anymore to close applications, only a soft reset fixxes this. Palringo doesn't give me this glitch but I don't like the user interface that much.
Any help?
Thanks!
happens here too its annoying

I hope there will be a fix soon because I really like the UI, it's great to work with.
msn has been suffereing this issue for MONTHS!!!!!
You're not the only one. I'm on Telus Mobility with the same issue, funny thing is... It actually happens on the diamond and touch pro now on the STOCK ROM!
So it's clearly an issue with the MSN service itself.
They better fix it because i miss it dearly!

Have you guys looked in the Marketplace and downloaded the latest version?
I recall a post or two previously that were solved by the new one.

I have the latest version, installed it yesterday and the problem is there.
I created a a post in the microsoft forums and it seems updating the radio fixes it but ive just given up and waiting for the nect rom update with the added radio.
Ill dig out my post later.
Radio fix? but I never use the radio application so how is this the cause of the problem?
Bump...........
Any help? How about that microsoft post? Can't find it on the microsoft forums.
Same probs here for already 3 months or so, my Touch Pro also have this problem!
Wtf are they doin at MS ;/
All mine have the same problem.
If I'm not mistaken I've read somewhere that flashing to a new Radio Rom would fix the problem. I'll try this out and let you know how it works out.

is it working? i have also problems with msn
Nth to do with flashing New Radio Rom
This "disconnect" problem has been happening a long long time since i had Dopod D810, Diamond2, and now HD, and the issue never gets away! I thought was the problem with network privoders over my place(HK), it seems actually not as what i thought...i see all of you here got the same issue...so MS what the fxxk, i am considering of iphone...it seems good in some way...hehe..
thanks
MS is sleeping, its a flaw well known even by Wifi will still get lost connection or updating status. It's so damn irritating every now & then need to flip through the chat windows just to refresh the connections. Unlike Android MSN it realy does auto-reconnect upon lost connection or trying to send message until the other user receives it.
