so now i am trying to reload in fastboot but now evertime i try to load the radio again it goes to a black screen.
what do i do i live in brooklyn and need to fix my phone asap.
please someone help.
thank you please someone help...
email is [email protected]
thanks a lot

just curious, what was your previous radio and SPL version before upgrade?

radio i can't remember but lower then the required for the cursersence rom
HOW CAN I REBOOT SYSTEM ERASE ALL FILES ON SYSTEM AND LOAD NEW HBOOT, RADIO ETC LIKE STOCK

Let's do this one step at a time.
Can you go into fastboot or recover screen at all?
If you can, downgrade back to something usable again (search for downgrading radio) and try again.
If you can not get back into fastboot or recovery, then you have a major issue.
Good luck

This is definitely the issue.
The stock Sapphire 32A (H) recovery image reboots when it starts up.
Download the hero recovery from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561124
Then boot into fastboot mode and from your PC, type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.2.img
Then boot into recovery mode by holding Home and pressing Power.
(NOTE: to select items in the recovery menu with the Hero recovery, you need to use the Green Send key instead of the trackball key)
You might have issues reverting back to 32A 3.22 radio, but that's another topic.
Send me a PM if you're still having issues. You can give me money if you want, but I'm happy helping for free.
As long as you followed my directions, you should have no problems at all.

i can get into fastboot and fastbootusb
I have a 32a HTC Magic Rogers. are you sure i need the hero img you told me to download and flash?

got it to work via your method so i can continue with your install
but when i get to the part where it says your hboot should read
HBOOT-1.76.2007
mine still reads hboot 1.33.2010 (sapp50000)
i did flash your hboot and it did restart in recovery and then i pulled the battery and restarted into fastboot and saw this
what now

Try the instructions outlined here.
You're close, you just need to flash the hboot and recovery.

i finally got the hboot to load correctly.
now all i need is to flash
system.img
then
cursorsenceupdate.zip
RIGHT OR WRONG
and how much i owe you man... u are a life saver if you get this to work.

First of all, you owe me nothing. I'm not going to charge you for my help, but if you want to donate that's totally up to you.
As of right now you should have:
SPL: HBOOT-1.76.2007
Radio: 6.35.07.29
Confirm this information in FASTBOOT mode. (Power on by holding Back and pressing Power)
If you have not flashed the Hero Recovery, do that now.
Download it from here:
http://www.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=amon_ra/RECOVERY/&file=recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.2.img
Flash it to your phone using fastboot mode
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.2.img
Press Menu to power off your phone, then boot into Recovery by holding Home and pressing Power.
In the recovery you should see this at the bottom:
Code:
Build: RA-hero-v1.5.2
Note that when using the Hero Recovery on Magic 32A, the green Send/Talk key selects items, not the trackball button.
Download CursorSense32A from the thread in this forum, save it to SD.
Flash through recovery mode as normal. Make sure to wipe using the recovery menu options first.

Stucked, Can't Hard reset my Magic !

I tried to perform Hard Reset or Fast Boot on my HTC Magic it just stuck at
htc MAGIC screen
If i unplug the battery, and power on, it can boot up.
However, I can't seems to get to Fast Boot to load new rom nor Factory Reset my data.
Any ideas? Help Please!
Are both the recovery mode and fastboot mode not working?
My guess is that you did something to your SPL and screwed things up or you have a faulty device. If you can't get to fastboot or recovery mode, you should send it in for repairs.
And next time use the search function and put it in the NON-development forum.
yes both Recovery mode & fasboot are not working
I not sure I have done anything to SPL, I did flash the Magic with Daldroid rom and fastboot using daldroid-recovery.img
I've seen some people mentioning holding the home or back button when inserting the battery, I doubt it will work though...
hi,
i just tried,
if i press Back + End Call, I can get to Hboot and toggle to Fastboot mode
in the Fastboot mode, I managed to get to Bootloader and run the Wipe.
now i gonna try other roms. THanks

Semi-bricked Rogers Magic - Please Help!

I'm an idiot and tried to flashboot a new ROM on my phone without an engineered SPL. I got the standard error
"failed <remote: signature verify fail>"
In my defense i'm a noob who only now understands that I can't remote fastboot using my current SPL.
Now my phone hangs on the ROGERS splash screen.
I can get into HBOOT, FASTBOOT and RECOVERY. However I do not have any previous .img files to flash (I created a backup a few months ago and now I can't find it).
I have searched this forum (and elsewhere) and I cannot find how to restore my phone (I find lots of threads saying you can, but none with any useful steps)
Fastboot menu says:
- SPL 1.33.0009
- Radio 3.22.20.17
Please HELP!
if u have RA's recovery .. ther should be no problem
just booot in recovery mount ur sd card put any rom in it and flash
otherwise u can try the gold card method
P.S. : plz try to do ur homework b4 posting a new thread

I got it all up and running now. Thanks again.
Ok now I have a new problem.
I upgraded my SPL to 1.33.2010.
I'm trying to upgrade my Radio next however fastboot just hangs. It recognizes the device but when I "flash radio" it just sits at "send" forever.
I have tried reinstalling all my drivers and the sdk tools. Same problem.
Anybody have ideas?
Are you trying to follow the Cursordroid's guide to update to Radio 6.35.x / SPL 1.76? In that case it's strange to hear the send process loops forever.
1. have you double checked fastboot recognises your device? (fastboot devices)
2. is your USB cable plugged?

Yes I am following Cursordriods guide and Amrons. I spent 12 hours and didn't go to bed last night working on this stupid problem. I was at my wits end. Hair sticking up, nervous eye and head twitches, rings around eyes, and 20 hail mary's later I tried an absolutely desperate move and plugged my USB cable into the back USB ports instead of the front ones.........it worked. I didn't know if I should cry or beat my computer with a baseball bat.
Anyway. Thank you to everyone who were helping me out. Nice community here.
Cursordriods Sense ROM rocks. Highly recommended.

help!! May have bricked my phone

I updated the Radio on my 32a then I went to Fastboot mode to load the hboot image and discovered that i get a (failed : remote not allowed) message everytime I try to flash anything. So I guess I need a goldcard the only problem is I can't boot up to reformat the SD and make a goldcard...
Any idea's??
I'm lost!!
Can someone make a Goldcard for me, on another phone? I don't know what to do,
Thanks in advance...
anyone???
I'll pay for a goldcard if someone sends me one, assuming I can use one made on another phone in my phone. I need a way to get past my Fastboot mode and I can't boot to recovery or get anywhere else... to make a Goldcard
HELP?!?!
i used my memory card that came with my phone to create a gold card and it worked perfectly well just make sure you follow the guide to the letter.
you cant use one from another phone as you have to get the CID from your phone which is unique from phone to phone.
i believe what you should of done was flash the image first then update the radio but just search the forums theres bound to be someone with the same problem or even a google search might help

What's your HBOOT version? I got that while upgrading my RADIO. All I had to do was install an engineering SPL first. Then I was able to flash the new SPL.
you need to post more info. what radio did u upgrade to and whats your spl/hboot? Also, what recovery did u use?
I also noticed you saying something about the blueLED, I thought you could still get into fastboot...
can you still get into fastboot? I'm confused, cause you went from being able to go into fastboot and then now it's completely dead?
current set up
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT - 1.33.0010
CPLD-12
RADIO-6.35.00.29 (was 3.22.20.17 before update)
June 2 2009, 17:28:28
I the current recovery is RA-magic-v1.2.3H and I was trying to upgrade to RA-hero-v1.6.2 and Hboot 1.76.2007.
I got the radio upgraded but when I go to Fastboot to flash the hboot i get the (Failure: remote not allowed) error. So I can't change anything with the current hboot. I'm guessing I need a goldcard since I can't get to recovery mode, but every set of instructions for making a Goldcard requires the phone to be in adb shell mode which i can't get too.
At this point i don't care if i get the new radio on or not I just want it working again. I was running the SuperD 1.9.3 ROM with the Old radio...
The Blue LED issue wasn't me, I dont know who that is or what that was about.. I CAN still get to fastboot
Um, is that an engineering SPL? I believe you need one before doing this.
Did you try flashing the old radio again? Also, how did you upgrade your radio? Did you use Fastboot or Recovery?
If you can't flash anything.. well I dunno what else to do, never seen this problem yet. Maybe someone else with some more knowledge can help you, but try searching. I'm sure you're not the only one who's been through this situation.
Give this a try, I have no idea if it works though.
(Read this off unlockr)
Download the Hero Recovery Image
Put it in your androidsdk/tools folder
in fastboot, type
fastboot boot NameOfRecoveryImage.img
The only way i know how to change the Radio back is to Flash it through fastboot and this is the message i get when flashing anything through fastboot:
FAILED <remote: not allow>
The first time i changed the Radio to the new one I did it through recovery mode
I can't make it in to recovery mode anymore...
help?...
If you flash an engineering SPL you'll be able to continue. Flash 1.33.2010 and then continue from there. That happened to me too.
If you can read:
Prerequisites:
- HTC Magic / Sapphire 32A
- Engineering SPL
----- 1.33.2005
----- 1.33.2009
----- 1.33.2010
----- If you boot into fastboot and have issues with "fastboot:remote not allow", then your SPL won't work. Upgrade to Engineering SPL before continuing.
----- If you do not have an Engineering SPL, download 1.33.2010 and flash through recovery before starting this procedure. Flash the SPL update.zip like any other update.zip file.

how do I flash it through recovery if I can't boot into recovery?
can your computer detect the device? can ADB detect it? Can you get into fastboot mode (Power+Back)? You could try to flash the engineer SPL (and the old radio) through command prompt:
Do it in this order:
Code:
fastboot flash radio Radio_HTC_PVT_32A_3.22.20.17.img
fastboot flash hboot hboot-1.33.2010.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot reboot-bootloader
The files you'll need are all at this topic.
perhaps you missed the part about any fastboot command giving me a
FAILURE <remote: not allow> error
The one thing that gives me hope is that I get about 1-2 seconds of response from adb during boot up before it shuts down and starts the boot process again. If I knew how to run an update.zip from adb shell in one or two commmands maybe i have a chance at loading the old radio or engineering SPL or something. If I try to get to recovery mode it locks up after a second and I can't run the update through the menu...

HTC Magic Problem

Well. I was playing with my HTC Magic, on which I had previously installed the Rogers 2.1 update. So...
I rooted my phone
Downloaded ROM Manager
And from that, I downloaded Custom Kernel.
I then selected to backup my existing ROM and wipe data. After backing up the ROM, it kept restarting like crazy.
So... I removed the battery for 1 hour and then put it again, and WITHOUT pressing anything, it turned on and kept restarting by itself. O_O
What must I do to fix this?(Buying a new phone is not an option ) I promise I will be a good boy if I fix it. *boohooho* T_T
Edit: I had low battery. Dunno if that caused it.
Edit2: If I hold vol down+power, I go to hboot, then fastboot. I connect my USB, type adb devices on cmd but it doesn't display anything!! O;
BUMP. Help please.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuump. I need help.
Everyone has their favorite tools for upgrading.
Personally, I like the simple tools like Amon Ra for this job, together with fastboot.
Amon Ra's tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4647751&postcount=1
If you install the Amon 1.7.0 you can boot in recovery mode, switch to MS-usb mode, upload a rom-zip to the device and flash it using the flash option.
Make sure you use fastboot before to wipe the phone (i.e. start the phone while pressing vol-down, choose the fastboot option and connect the phone to your pc using usb).
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-dream-v1.7.0-cyan.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot reboot-bootloader
I don't know if the ROM-manager is useable to install kernels over an existing image. Amon can certainly do the job. But you should ask yourself if you want the trouble of upgrading kernels. Most of the time it is different but not necessarily better.
Well, how do I do this, when the only thing I see is the ROGERS logo and then it restarts? ; It doesn't even go to recovery mode.
Oh and I type "fastboot fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img" but it says "not allow"
Hit me up on Google Talk at [email protected]
Oh, when I try to install the Rogers update RUU, it finds the version I have, and asks me to update to the one I already have. But then I get an ERROR [132] SIGNATURE ERROR
Don't do that!!!!
Ok. I invited you on google talk.

Stuck in reboot loop flashing back to stock. Need assistance.

I had TWRP custom recovery installed, but I wanted to run an OTA update so I tried to flash back to stock recovery. My phone is now stuck in a reboot loop. It sits at a black screen with a small picture of an M8 and a red triangle and exclamation mark over it, then eventually it reboots. It boots to the white screen with the green "htc" logo, then goes back to the same black screen. I've tried holding down the power button, holding down Vol down+Power, holding down Vol up+Power, and holding down all three, but the reboot loop continues. Fastboot does not see my phone at any stage.
Here are the steps that I followed to arrive at where I am now:
1. Booted to Fastboot
2. Connected my phone to my PC
3. Opened a CMD prompt and accessed the fastboot directory
4. Ran this command: Fastboot oem rebootRUU
5. Ran this command: fastboot devices
6. Ensured that my phone was listed
7. Ran this command: fastboot flash recovery stock-recovery-4.4.3.img
8. Received a message stating that it was successful
9. Opened HBOOT on my phone
10. Opened Recovery on my phone
11. Phone went to a black screen with a small picture of a phone and a red triangle and exclamation mark
12. Phone stays there for a little while, then reboots to this screen, then the cycle starts over again
I did some searching but I couldn't find anything that helped. Anyone have any ideas?
Sorry, I mistakenly posted this in the wrong forum. Mods, could you please move this to Help & Troubleshooting?
UPDATE: I was able to get into fastboot by quickly holding down Vol Down + Power in between boot cycles, and fastboot is seeing my device on my PC. The problem now is that I don't know what to do from here.

What you are seeing is stock recovery. That is normal so relax.
What it sounds to me that you are wanting to do, is put your phone into a stock enough state in order to take any upcoming OTA correct?
I suggest at this point, that you take the latest available RUU (which has the latest OTA firmware included) which is also pre-rooted.
You will need to be able to get into Hboot however and you can do this by doing the following:
Hold Power+Volume up until the screen shuts off and goes black, then IMMEDIATELY hold power+volume down until you boot into hboot.
Once in hboot, you can always fastboot flash back TWRP to get your custom recovery back and flash custom roms.
I would do that first if there are things on your internal memory that you wish to save and off-load to your pc prior to taking the RUU.
If there is nothing you wish to save and you're ready to return to stock (but rooted so you can get back into the custom game later if you like), then follow the instructions outlined in the OP of this thread (which will provide a link for you to download the RUU needed): http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...zw-m8-master-ruu-firmware-collection-t2946473
If S=ON, select the S=ON link.

You DO NOT NEED to flash stock recovery if you are wanting to return back to stock.
If there is nothing on your internal memory that you are wanting to save, then follow the instructions for flashing the RUU in hboot via rename and sdcard. I gave you the link you needed to follow which outlines precise directions to get you completely functional again in the phone state you desire.

You need to be on stock firmware in order to take a OTA. That means stock firmware with FOTA enabled, and stock recovery.
Flashing a RUU returns you to a stock state of re-locked hboot, stock recovery, and stock rom with FOTA enabled. I can't help you any more if you don't follow the directions sir.
Flash the RUU and profit.
Good luck,
Neo
Flashing the RUU will flash the stock recovery.

I appreciate your help, but this isn't about me not following directions. I'm trying to figure out why my stock recovery doesn't seem to be flashing properly and, no disrespect intended, but you haven't addressed that issue directly.

None taken. I have not addressed the failed recovery flash because it could be a number of different reasons. I don't dwell on why things don't/didn't work.. I focus on the primary objective. Your primary objective was outlined in the OP of this thread and is as follows:

I wanted to run an OTA update

If the rom currently on your phone is in a completely stock state and simply rooted with no system files deleted or modified, then what you attempted to do with simply flashing a stock recovery would have been the minimally required thing to do.
If however you've deleted system files or flashed to a custom rom, then you will need to return your device to a stock rom, with fota enabled, and stock recovery flashed. The easiest method to achieve this directive is to flash a RUU, which contains all of the above requirements for being in a state to receive any OTA on top of updating all of your firmware to the latest OTA that we've received to date.
I do see your point, and loading the RUU might well work. But I would prefer to be able to back up my apps beforehand and I can't do that if I can't boot up. I did successfully re-flash TWRP recovery, but for some reason it still won't boot up; it's stuck in the reboot loop that I described (though I am still able to get into HBOOT).

Dirty flash (without wiping) the rom you are currently on. If S=ON, fastboot flash the included boot.img with it as well.

Does that mean just restoring my backup in TWRP? I am S-OFF.

That should work also, yes.

That worked! Thank you. I have all of my apps and they're all organized the way that I had them. I'm guessing the next thing I need to do is do a back-up, then flash the RUU, then the OTA should work?

Yes. However, if you flash the latest RUU, you won't receive any OTA because the latest RUU contains all the firmware from our most recent OTA lol. You will be in a state though to receive any future OTAs should they come.
Make sure to back up your internal memory to either your sd card or your computer as the internal memory gets wiped in a RUU.
So I downloaded the RUU, but I can't seem to be able to copy the file to the external SD card as instructed. I go into ES File Explorer and access Device\storage\ext_sd and try to paste it there, but it says "not enough space". Which is weird, because it says that the directory is empty (and hidden files are enabled).
