[ROM] esperOS 21054 (WM 6.1) ENG - lite - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

THIS IS A 6.1 ROM
Got tired of the sleep-of-death with 28XXX 6.5 so I've gone back to 6.1. This is a lite, fairly clean ROM intended for us who want lots of room to install stuff -- I use it with SPB Mobile Shell 3.5
ftp://burtcom.com/esperOS/
(slow home server, so be patient)
I will probably try to build a 6.5 ROM from another branch -- probably 21885 -- at some point when I have some time.

Thanks -- hopefully it will be sooner rather than later
For me the last straw with 28002 was when I was on-call this past week and the phone did a sleep-of-death on me, after behaving for a good two weeks.
When I'm on-call, I need a stable phone
So I hope 21885 will do it -- I miss 6.5 already.

Burtcom,
thanks for the release, but care to give us a bit of detail about this ROM.
thanks.

so if u can....

in the new manila u havr only one row of the calender, can u make it two?
tnx again for all
shiran

Hi Guy,
Thanks for your good rom. Prefer some naked rom, without any application and today programn.

Funny thing I was on your other thread with the 6.5rom and the link posted there is the one for here. I was so excited to see a clean lite rom for 6.5 I didn't even bother reading the file thinking it was the 6.5rom, but it is this 6.1. So now that is currently installed on my phone hah.
It is as described. clean/lite/fast.

We Need a Could we get a Wm6.1 LITE Rom from one of you rom chefs?

please guys, alot of us dont like the extra "junk" and programs that come with all these roms and want as much rom space as possible so we can use cabs to add exactly what we want. I never use HTC home or any of the other htc programs and I like to keep the installed and today apps to a minimum. Which of you can do a lite rom based on 6.1? We would really appreciate it!
Hi... the official 6.1 was uploaded yesterday (correct me if im wrong), so just give it a small amount of time and they'll start pouring like rain.
on the other side, dutty's kaiser isnt working, and itje delayed his 6.1 rom...so it might take a while but just keep hanging there.
sweet, I am still using duttys no 7 lite rom till this day, best damn rom I ever used, hope he will do one for wm6.1 once his kaiser comes, sucks he lost his kaiser though, I can feel his pain lol
thanks for the info
no problem....

Rom Reviews Anyone?

I have searched already and haven't found reviews of the new cooked and stock roms out there that we all use and love. If your flash happy like myself you would love to here unbiased reviews of the roms and I don't mean whats in the exisiting threads for each rom that have complaints, rants, and flaming. If anyone else would like to jump on this please let me know or just start reviewing the roms yourselves and the mods will hopefully start a sticky for reviews. Thanks and to all the great chefs keep up the good work.
dutty's roms are quite nice. They've got the basics. You'll probably need to install a few things for personal needs, but not too much.
For example, I always install HTC's Task manager. But he took it out since some people liked the WKTask (eww).
I've tried a few random others, and some pack in too many apps
**Edit for links** http://duttythroy.lives-in.eu/
->Current thread for V4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=361544
I'd like to be able to stick with a ROM for long enough to be able to do a full review
Agreed, Duttys v4 felt nice but I changed to Q-Mobile because I was having problems with bluetooth on the v4 rom.... After playing around with the Q-Mobile rom I don't actually think that the BT problem was caused by duttys rom.
Q-Mobile is nice and clean but I've had problems installing some stuff, again might not be anything to do with the ROM and it may well be the user and or the cabs at fault
What I'd really like is to try out a WM6.1 rom to see if the new network drivers sort out my wifi problem but Im really unsure as to which is the best, hopefully some people will post their thoughts on 6.1 roms in here.

That sounds fast
Roms depends on user needs Some people like fancy stuff. Like duttys one and some others with dual touch, cube etc.... And some people are professional they want fast, effective. I am in love with sleuth rom. I didnt have to install separate radio, separate java bla blah. Everything working out of the box working fine. Some people have issues like skype and core player. But they are problem with all 6.1 version.
I would of LOVED sleuth's wm 6.1 v3.0 if the audiomanager worked There were a few other small things, such as how to disable threaded sms, without killing the notifications (I didn't really like the threaded smsing, but I got enough smses that if I didn't get a notification it would mean lots of missed smses)
I spent the last 10 hours or so flashing different roms onto my phone, I've went back to Q-mobile 1.2 =/
If you don't mind the threaded sms and don't use audiomanager (I installed mortplayer to compensate) I'd suggest Sleuth's 3.0 6.1 rom.
I've tried just about every rom here and I keep going back to Q-Mobile 1.2.
I love dutty's customizations, but I have to agree that Quentin's are the most polished. I have tried almost all of them and have settled on Quentin's Q-Mobile 1.2 for now (with a lot of my own customizations of course).
Just wait a little bit
All I have to tell you guys is wait and see
Current is Sleuth 3.0 WM6.1
I am using an ATT Tilt version in the US, I have tried many of the current roms (to me some were more well done than I like, Some were not stable or under done) I like 3 roms
WM 6.1 - I like Austinsync's rom and Sleuth 3.0
WM 6.0 - I like Q-Mobile 1.2 (Sorry have not tried any others but the Sleuth version is probably good there too)
Cheers
BR
For now, I'm staying away from the 6.1 roms (I have a feeling that "for now" will change to "right now" once dutty's new one is released) but I've been using dutty's V4 since the day it was released and I love it. It's very fast and has everything you need.
...for now.

Haze,
I would say give Dutty a couple of days, or a week at the most, and he will release his newest flavor. The beta testers have worked really hard to get a perfect ROM to the community. You will be pleasantly surprised at the result. One thing you should know. Dutty has been building a WM6.1 ROM without a phone much like Schap's does which is quite amazing.
why do they both do it without phones? Did their phones break or are they using other ones? Anyways I like Q-Mobile 1.2 but I received a lot of error messages I didn't get on other roms. Sleuths is good also but a little too clean for my liking. Downloading Dutty v4 now hopefully this is a winner until his 6.1

Dutty's phone bricked and Schap's has never had a device.
I have 2 devices, 1 with dutty's WM6.1 and the other is Sleuth 3.0's WM6.1. Both are great in their respected fields. I think dutty's is the most organized of the two. Speed wise Sleuth is ahead but thats also due to a larger page file.

Sleuth 3.0's WM6.1 rocks!
Tried Alex 6.1 but have no luck with no-sound problem.
Switched to Sleuth 3.0 and I stay so far.
Waiting for new version of dutty. I hope secret testing policy will help here (?)
I think it would be awesome if Dutty made a clean version of 6.1 along with his regular version. I hate having all kinds of extra programs that I'm never use.

Sleuth's 6.1 is at 32MB and it's very fast and responsive. No issues with battery life. I'm on the 2nd full decharge right now. 1st run died at about 452 with bluetooth on in a E area. Dutty's default is 24 if i'm not mistaken. dutty's has the best battery life so far. I'll make a better report when i wake up, 2am here and I need to be in the office at 8. Night all

UPDATED: Would you like to see a cooked build of the new 19202?

I have been adding/deleting features and programs in the new 19202 build that NoThrills has so graciously released to us.
Due to it kaiser designed base, giving it amazing speed(even in complete stock form), I was curious as to how many people would like a cooked version released, with some bug fixes, registry tweaks, and also some added utilities.
If you would like this, please respond letting me know what you would like to see in this release. I have already cooked several versions for my own person use, and modified it for my own use.
Just let me know what everyone would like to see, and ill try my best to release a few builds to accommodate the majority.
First Release of my Hybrid OS 5.2.19202 (Build 19209) can be found here after I upload: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2069244#post2069244
Yes please!
I'd love to see the basic ROM with bug fixes and generic updates to the HTC progs. To many ROMs get stuffed with extraneous crap that isn't useful.
Cook away brother, as I'd enjoy the sampling.
I do not think this is a good build to cook from unless you feel like spending lots of time in the kitchen fixing MS screw ups! Has anyone noticed the screen tearing from the new .dlls? plus there are a few other things I won't mention since most of you haven't played with roms that long to understand what I am talking about.
What specifics would you like to see?
Such as apps to be added/removed
What bugs do you think should have priority?
etc, etc...
uDK just released a version...
I'd like to see a "If HTC could be bothered to put all the fixes and S/W updates in all one ROM, This is how it would look ROM"
Camera Fix
Camera Album
Comm Manager
Video Dialer
Calculator
Little fixes like backlight going out on call.
Removing of the useless Windows Update.
But most Important its clean!!! Fresh...
UC compliant for all us to enjoy the phone our way...
I like flashing other peoples work... But thats their work... The way they want the phone... Yes they add little bits and take bits out on request sometimes... But how nice would it be to have our own way...
Argh 1st post other than just a thanks so I babbled and lost my self...
Thanks for your suggestions. I am working on these fixes as I type.
So far I have completed this:
- Working Video Dialer
- Comm Manager(6 Button)
- Latest HTC Album
- Camera Fix(Latest which i have seen)... PLEASE post the cab that contains which fix you are speaking of.
- Calculator
- GPS Test
- Office and OneNote has been removed in the lite version
- Welcome Center removed
- HSDPA Icon added
- HTC Plus added(disabled by default)
- HTC Home updated(now with tab under today settings)
- And more!
all the latest htc apps.....audio manager,home,album etc.....plus total comander is a must...thanks

Well, I'm not a professional cook. But I flashed about every ROM that was ever out here, both on my Hermes and my Kaiser.
And despite of your reactions, AllTheWay and Austinsnyc, I really really dig this ROM. Never had a faster and snappier ROM before (even not Dutty's), no single freeze for 4 days, never needed to softreset.
I don't use voicecommander, but I dó use bluetooth (carkit, external phone), GPRS, HSDPA, phone, TomTom, Navigon, PointUI, PZPTools, etc. It all works great!
Yes, there are some problems reported, but aren't they also with Dutty's, Schaps, Alex's?
And yes, it may be a cooked ROM, but for me it's really worth further developing...

Never going to happen until a carrier is going to release it, so why even bring it up?

Windows Mobile 6.5 has gone gold?

Just found this article over on Engadget that proclaims that (via Twitter) Microsoft has announced that 6.5 has, indeed, gone gold.
Engadget Post here.
Cool, but haven't most of us flashed to some cooked v. already? Neat, but mundane-ish.
Sounds great! I hope microsoft will release it soon.
Can I still get it when my phone isn't flashed and is still on default software?
Ok, for those of you who had the at&t "Tilt" (Kaiser), if we use the same timeline....MS RTM'd 6.5, let's say they ship it in July. If we use that as a benchmark, and remember how long it took at&t to release 6.1 for the Tilt, it will be December 09 at the EARLIEST before we could see (if at all) 6.5 show up "officially" on the Touch Pro. LOL.......
If it wasn't for the cooks on XDA, we'd be slaves to whenever the carriers would get around to releasing updates. "Timely manor" is not in their vocabulary.

Chill man, it's sarcasm. Did ya notice the eyes rolling? But it's not going to be a whole lot diff except for hopefully less buggy, and the beta's I've been running have been really pretty solid for the most part. I'm looking forward to this as much as anybody. Lets loosen up. Life's way to short.
Good news, but I don't think there will be many differences with current custom 6.5 roms. Of course it's good to have the latest stable version as the base for custom roms.

Either or. It's about a billion times faster.
The rom I downloaded, was RRE's series 6, 6.5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=506837
He has the default wm6.5 interface (called chrome) & the tf3d interface. You simply toggle the one you want from the today screen.
My Fuze is MUCH faster... no screen lag, even when rotating. I'm still using the TF3D interface, haven't had much time to tinker with anything...too busy at work. If you've never flashed one, other than a rom update from a carrier (if yours is carrier locked), you'll need to do some reading. Read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008
Simple, straight forward steps on how to flash one.
I already knew what I needed, but ran the instructions step by step..."stupidly simple" as I like to call it. Once you get hard SPL changed,
flashing is the same (if you use the Rom Update Utility). It updates, reboots, and you are done.

I have been waiting for 6.5 to be out of beta before flashing. I will probably flash 6.5 tonight anyways...even if 6.5 is gold...it will be awhile before we get our hands on an offical release.
Yeah, if you have an at&t fuze....I remember when the 6.1 update came out...it took at&t over 6 months to finally release it "officially".
The 6.5 is the first "cooked" rom I've used. I won't use a "carrier" rom update
again. These are for lack of another term, bloat free.
This one has a few apps and some really nice tools that i download and install
anyway. The program "update" utility is really nice to have.

It's not officially out yet as I understand.
The link posted within the quote from my post above will take you where you need to go for the 6.5 rom. I haven't done it yet and it was really painless on my Tilt when I had it.
I am assuming that this ROM doesn't contain the bloatware that we have to deal with in the official "AT&T" ROM. I mention this cause there was a little trick that had to be done in order to bypass the bloatware load. It really wasn't that tough although it did take me a coule of tries before I got it right.
If you haven't modified your phone much then just follow the instructions. If you've added software and other tweeks... you will have to reload them again (based on the reply from "p51d007").
If you need help this board is awesome. Also you can send me a PM and I'll try to help best I can.

stay with 6.1 or move to 6.5? Pros? Cons?

while there was not a definitive WinMo 6.5 release, i didnt even consider moving to a 6.5 based ROM, but now that release date is closer, I´ve yet to see a pros and Cons of windows mobile 6.1 vs. winMo6.5.
I´ve a Diamond, so memory use is a concern.
i use manila 2.1 (hopefully 2.5 soon) so windows native dialogues are (nearly) over, and I dont need titanium WinMo6.5 native today UI.
Shall I move to 6.5 or stay with 6.1?
what advantages has a ROM based on 6.5 compared to a 6.1 ROM?
best regards
Amazed by nobody having a view into Win 6.1 vs 6.5!!!
I thought this thread would've actually been more popular... Lol.

As for M2D, I never really liked it much, so even with WM6.1 I never used it... I've gotten quite attached to the Titanium layout actually.. It's different, but it works well once you're use to it. Keep in mind I can only give you my opinions on upgrading.....
Pros
Easier navigation - Virtually any scrolling window can be 'dragged' up or down by dragging inside the contents instead of the scrollbar, makes it finger-friendly.
Speed - Obviously depending on who's ROM you install, many of them have had the really memory intensive applications and settings removed. This also depends on the device it was intended for; for my little Elf a lot was removed... But it's flying nicely.
PIN code prompt - I know it's minor, but every little bit counts; the PIN code prompt is always on top when the device starts up. With WM6.1 I had to invoke the 'phone' side sometimes just to put my PIN in.
Cons
Selecting files - Because of the tap-and-drag scrolling, you can't drag a selection box around a number of files in a window that scrolls.. If the window contents don't scroll, you can still do this though.
Compatibility - Many of the today screen plugins I used to use have had to be replaced with other apps; the WM6.5 today screen can be set to the old style (WM6.1), but it's your choice.
Other than those, I can't really think of much else that makes WM6.5 better or worse than WM6.1... The rest is really up to you to decide. For me, I'm more than happy with it and I have no intention of going back to 6.1 at all.
you got to try the cooked 6.5 roms to really know the BIG difference.
and you can still go back to 6.1 if you don't like it.

Too true... Try, try, and try again. Then try another one for good measure. Lol. I think I've changed between about 6 different ROMs in the last two weeks. I keep going back to Dsixda's Onyx ROMs though...

Thanks prervious posters for sharing their views.
So the question would be, for a similar ROM tried with each of both cores, and disregarding the user interface preferences :
Is 6.5 lighter than 6.1?
Is 6.5 faster?
Is 6.5 more stable?
If there are three "yes"....i´ll move to 6.5!
If 6.5 is heavier on memory, but more stable and faster.....I´ll check if my device memory and aplication usage allows to move up.
if 6.5 is either slower or less stable....I´ll stay at 6.1 unless i fall in love with titanium UI!

the answer is NO to all three... it's still in BETA so lets just wait for the real thing that will come out on October 6.
Test 6.5 and decide for yourself!
I have 6.5 on my Universal with only 64mb of RAM and I´m quite happy with it, so do not worry and go for it!
If you donñt like it you can always go back

I'd have to agree with the first part of TheRem's post here... (nothing personal ) But go with orb300's suggestion:

As I said, I'm running WM6.5 on my little Elf without any trouble.. Sure it's not quite as fast as some of the WM6.1 ROMs around here, but it's definitely faster than the standard ROM that came with the phone nearly a year back! Your Diamond should handle it a lot better with the higher amount of RAM available...
Either way, before you do any of that.... Make sure you install HardSPL first!! That way you'll still be able to flash a working ROM again if you find one that doesn't want to start up.
As somebody esle said, its all matter of personal preference. I think 6.5 is a bit sluggish than 6.1, but i cannot go back to using 6.1.

well, the user interface can be a matter of personal preference.
But the slughiness or not of the underlying system is what counts here.
So far I´m used to TF3D and intend to keep there. There are cookers which are tying Manila on top of 6.1, while others are moving to 6.5. Same happens with Mobile Shell.
So, if you are not going to use the new tytanium UI of 6.5, is it worth the upgrade?
B/R
PS: regarding Beta Status of 6.5......IT should be over now. Thats why i´m questioning now, not when initial betas were leaked.
