Headset fix in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5478361&postcount=333
What works:
Accel/Orientation, Wifi, SMS, Phone, 3G-data, Camera, GPS, MMS send/rcv, Speakerphone, Headset
What doesn't work:
BT, camcorder, SMS on some phones
Unknown:
Wipe recommended if you're coming from other ROMs. Do a nandroid backup. I'm not responsible for anything YOU do.
The SMS problem on some phones, I suspect it is in a place where there is nothing I can do to fix. I suspect it is in the HTC radio interface shared library, which is not open source (libhtc_ril.so). This ROM is using the version of that file from the leaked 2.1 ROM.
This is AOSP, so its up to YOU to take this ROM to where YOU want it to be. Please only post if you have a solution/work-arounds to problems, or if you found a new problem that is within this ROM as-is, and not something extra being put on. Please don't flash this ROM and then come and ask how-to/where-do-I get Gmail/Maps/Goggles/Youtube/wifi-tether/Market, etc.
Thanks!

Safe to assume this is still a .27 kernel?
I spent my morning working on BT. I made some progress in that it now turns on with no error, but it immediately turns back off.
Debug log just shows
Bluetooth state 0 > 1
Bluetooth state 1 > 0
After working with it a bit more my phone stopped booting. Breakfast and coffee time.
Edit: And thanks quiet!!
Is there any way to get mms working or is it a lost cause?
@Chuck -- yep, same old kernel. good thing 1.6 was designed to be used with either .27 or .29 kernel.
@Flipz -- for BT, take a look at how other 1.6 ROMs for HTCs do BT, its usually service in the init.* scripts. I haven't had a chance to look much...
MMS, I don't know really know what the problem is just yet, logcat says something like "service not available, will try again," etc.
Awesome work! I installed AOSP 1.6 last night & it was flying. Tried to install the Google apps, didn't make much head way, but I'm new to the how rooted droid thing so I'm learning.
I definitely will be playing with this ROM every night. (Got to love Nand backups )
sry i didnt read full contents my bad
One thing I noticed was a force close when trying to install the voice synthesis data through the settings screen. Something may be wrong with the PicoTTS.apk file. Either way I am going to try to copy over the tts data from another rom and see what happens.

Settings is trying to find the app in the market.
Get it here
http://andappstore.com/AndroidApplications/apps/210486
works fine.
I didn't need to install voice data at all, in fact, when I go into the settings screen for speech synth, it "blinks" for a moment and disables the install voice data option.

That's strange. Well, anyway, copying over the tts folder from another 1.6 rom works perfectly. Anyone have any luck with Google bits? I can get gmail to work but the Market and Talk both crash. I copied them from one of the Dream's 1.6 roms.
dont we have this already?

For Google bits, you need a bunch of apk's:
Gmail
GmailProvider
GoogleApps
GoogleCheckin
GoogleContactsProvider
GooglePartnerSetup
GoogleSettingsProvider
GoogleSubscribedFeedsProvider
gtalkservice
ImProvider
MarketUpdater
SetupWizard
Talk
Vending
And also in framework:
com.google.android.gtalkservice.jar
and in etc/permissions:
com.google.android.gtalkservice.xml
and finally in lib:
libgtalk_jni.so
Goggles is pretty cool, BTW

I've got a workaround going through the browser but something for the app would be nice.
Yes I have searched the threads.
What's the problem? I installed GV fine on my phone, and am using it for voicemail.
that's pretty interesting, I didn't realize mine was broke untill you said something.... interesting... hmm
now are you sure it's all 2.1 roms? darch's 2.1 aosp I could have sworn google voice was working on it.

My GV works perfect on Gumbo 2.1
If I need to dial out to somewhere it matters I gotta go through the web browser. Just like I had to on my blackberry.
it probally has something to do with the dialer in fresh, maybe replaceing that with an aosp dialer or cyanogen modded one would work.

How would I pull that out of the rom?
pull and replace the following
\system\app\phone.apk
\system\app\phone.odex
I think that's it... I'm not a rom cooker, so would need confirmation, there's probably other dependencies... my untrained jedi guestimate

It looks like Fresh de-odexed all the apk's so... none of the apps currently use the .odex. I think that causes problems when you try and push a file that is built to use both .apk and .odex. That's my guess. I was trying to push Teeter, but it won't work (I think) for this reason.
I'm having the same problems! GV decides if it's in the right mood or not to make outgoing calls. Sometimes it works, other times it's just nonstop insta-fails. Has anyone pegged down what this issue is?
Also, the SMS delay is much more severe. I was using double SMS workaround (SMS to GV# and Sprint# to force GV to refresh) with fresh 1.1, but that doesn't seem to be working now with 2.0. I'm updating to 2.0b, but I doubt that will quell these issues.
I'd really appreciate if anyone has any ideas on this one. Thanks!
I haven't gotten it to work once. Add this to the list of problems I have had with every Rom with the word fresh in it.

In my case, the GV issue is more severe since it's costing me $$. I use Google Voice to call family in Canada. Using GV, calls are free. I just checked my Sprint minutes usage and turns out that the last call I made was billed via Sprint. Sucks! 13 minutes, $6.37. This really does need to get figured out!
Measter, how are you making calls via the browser? When I try to access the Google Voice site, it sees that I'm on an Android device and tells me to download the app from the Market.

Never worked for me. Every time I tried it said the call was lost. Probably tried 50-60 times, as someone i think mentioned that it "occasionally" worked. Either way occasionally isn't good enough

suckage
I just checked this out and it doesn't work for me on Fresh 2.0b. I was running Darch's rom before and I didn't notice if it was working or not, no one I called complained that I was doing it from the wrong number (I use GV as my primary number) but that doesn't mean it was working because I only used it for a day or so.
Luckily it's hopefully only going to be a short wait for an offical 2.1, then shortly after that we'll have a nice new flipz rom.
For some reason the voice recorder app was corrupt, so I and looking for the stock 2.2 apk to use. Thanks

This is the same one that I had on the phone, but even after re installing it it gives me problems. The app icon is the generic one and when I click it, a different looking program comes up. Is there another program that I need to run? The htc one didn't download an my voice search is working fine.
I just want an an app that I can record with, for done reason switching from inc does mash up rom back to a nandroid with full wipes completely messed with my phone. I had to reinstall m radio because the internet wasn't working, also the stock email kept force closing no matter what I did, so un installing it and putting on a fresh copy seemed to work. Just weird all of this happened
Any info on this?
i don't have the stock one but the htc one above.
i am positive VoiceSearch.apk is NOT it. that is probably googles voice search app.

First of all, I can't take credit for any of this.
I just tried random parts until 2-Way Video Chat started working.
I got all of the info and files from:
[APP][ROOT] Google Talk 1.3 with Video calling, Now wifi optional!
This is tested working with JVH/JVB.
Edited 5/18 -- Simplified install instructions.
1. There are 3 files in this zip, gtalk.video.captivate.zip, which is not CWM flashable.
-Talk.apk is from Android 2.3.4 and is hacked to allow chats over cell data.
-GoogleServicesFramework.apk is from gapps-gb-20110503-signed.zip
-libtalk_jni.so
2. Use Root Explorer to move Talk.apk and GoogleServicesFramework.apk to '/system/app/'
-Rename the old files (ex: Talk.apk.bak)
-Paste in the new ones
-Set permissions of both to rw-r--r--
-NOTE: Replacing the GoogleServicesFramework.apk will force you to sign back in to Google Services
-Some builds don't require this GoogleServicesFramework, but in my testing both JVB & JVH won't work without it
3. Then move libtalk_jni.so to '/system/lib/'
-Rename old file if applicable
-Paste in the new one
-Set permissions to rw-r--r--
4. Reboot
5. Open Talk, click on your username, and check the box for 'Allow video and voice chats'
That's It.
Hopefully a flashable zip coming soon.
Bugs:
Video call only works in landscape. (portrait mode sends a blank screen from phone to pc)
Can only initiate calls from phone.

That was only for the Vibrant. You can retrofit the camera module that comes with the Euro Galaxy S onto it and flash a ROM that supports it and it will work. I remember seeing one of the MobileTechVideos where they did it and he showed you why it wouldn't work on Captivates. Part of the plastic body was in the way or something.

Ok, I love all of the new roms we've had our great developers dropping on us. But on most of the 3.5 roms sprints visual voicemail doesn't work, due to sprint not having an offical 3.5 rom we have to use other carriers ports.
Anyways I figured out a way to get vvm to work on any 3.5 rom, here you go;
1. Have a titanium backup of a working vvm (with a couple voicemails on it)
2. Restore it to whatever 3.5 sense rom you want.
3. Reboot into recovery wipe cache, dalvik then flash attached .zip file.
4. Once phone is rebooted, install the attached .apk.
Let me know if anyone has issues!, I've tested this on a few different 3.5 roms, works fine on all of them.
Note- I have had a couple of times after flashing different fixes that it breaks vvm, if you get force closes, just reinstall the .apk and it will work again.
*****DO NOT UPGRADE TO NEWER VVM, YOU WILL HAVE TO REDO EVERYTHING OVER AGAIN IF YOU DO!!*****
I don't quite understand the issue here. I'm running PrimeXL 3.5 ROM and my VVM works just fine. Unless you are referring to the text feature that comes along with it?
Is there something else to it?

Yeah, it's weird. I think some of the 3.5 roms are based on different baseboards, like I was having issues getting newtoroots/mik's 3.5 roms to playback directv's sunday ticket app, which I paid for so on sundays I'd flash back to mikg so I could use it.
But it seems like some 3.5 rom's have working vvm, and some dont. It will try to provision the app, but it ends up producing a "general failure".
This fixes that on the other 3.5 roms that it won't work on.
I dont use VVM but i know one of my friends that does. I'll pass the info along. Good work!!!
Sounds great man will take this into consideration man thanks.
It was my understanding that all you had to do was flash to a 3.0 ROM, let VVM provision, do a TB of VVM and data, flash the 3.5 ROM, and restore VVM using TB. So what are the 2 attachments for?
I'm not sure this really "fixes" anything, as once it flashes, VVM does a FC and I have to re-install. A simple backup-restore with TB works just fine, IMO.

David- That used to work on many of the 3.5 roms, but as things have changed and gotten upgraded in certain 3.5 roms, it somehow broke that way of restoring vvm services, but if it works for you or anyone else then absolutely stick with doing that, it just didn't work for me.
Gyro- I tried to just install the vvm.apk but for me on any rom I tried to do that on it wouldn't work unless I did it in the way I listed above, trust me I wouldn't of posted all of that stuff if it wasn't necessary.

Easy way to change that;
When you get one of those messages open it up and press menu, then click "block messages", then it will ask you for a password. Just enter any password that you want (make sure you remember it)
Then it should start blocking all of the 9016 messages.

No, it does not work with the new vvm app. It will give you the "generic failure" message if you upgrade and it won't provision your vvm.

I tried this fix on Radiance RC-2. Radiance came with VVM but wans't sure if it was working and what not. I restored from TB my VVM (the one updated by sprint) and then got a voice mail today, didn't work. So I ran the fix (had it sitting on SDCard) and it reverted it back to old voice mail, then asked me to update, so I went ahead and updated and sent myself a voice mail. No go.
As I can see in this thread that there is an issue with the new VVM and it not working on 3.5 anyhow. So how would I go about fixing this? Should I restore my VVM from TB (even though it's the New one) and then run the fix again and let it revert it back to the old VVM?
Thanks for the help and also the fix.

Yeah, do not upgrade to the newer vvm. And you should do what you said to restore vvm service, restore your titanium backup, flash zip and install apk, do not install update.
I will update OP so this doesn't happen to others in the future.
That worked Ron. Thanks for the help. Silly VVM
Worked perfectly, thanks!!!
I just couldn't get the stock vlingo app working with my bluetooth when the screen is locked. Anyway, I've been searching and finally found the google voicedialer.apk that has worked so great for me on my old i9000 that works with the i727's ICS.
I got rid of the vlingo voice command and pushed this apk into /system/app. Cleared cache, rebooted and now I can make calls from my bluetooth with the screen locked.
I also installed google voice search from play store. Not sure if that's required but most likely it is.
It's attached if anyone wants it.
Thank you
I was looking for it, and you just shared, a really nice one.

This is what i was looking for nice and simple.
Vlingo is a battery hog!
Thanks...

It's great isn't it? I use it everyday with my bluetooth headset. I got this from one of the many ICS system/app dumps I downloaded and this was the only one that worked for me.
So many thanks!
This might be just what I am looking for!
I am a noob when it comes to Android. Could you please post detailed instructions?
Many thanks!

GoJ,
There's a few different ways but you first need to be rooted. Use Titanium Backup to remove vlingo (since this app may conflict with voicedialer). Backup vlingo in case you want to go back to it. Then you could use an app like Root Explorer or something similar to copy and paste the voicedialer.apk into /system/app. Clear dalvik cache (you can use TiBu for this as well or go into CWM) and reboot.
Hope that helps.
I downloaded this as well as several other versions of it and all i can get out of it is fore close. It activates, i speak, and it recognizes the contact, says its dialing and then bam fc and sometimes my phone locks up. Any suggestions? I tried clearing davlick and cache.
Thanks

Hmm, try fixing permissions in cwm. Haven't seen this on either ics leaks. Works great for me.

I'd like to know if any brave soul has tried it in GB, as I'm very interested in this, since here in the states you can no longer use your phone while driving

Not sure if this version works, try it and let us know. I had a different version I was using for GB but it didn't work for ICS. I may have deleted it already but I'll see if I still have it.
Edit: Found it, here's the GB version I was using. Same instructions to install as before.
Thank you!

Thank you very much for sharing. Works great on my AT&T ONE X and my Motorola T505 bluetooth.
I use it as stock in the CM10 but it does not recognize any word in Italian it randomly chooses an action!

Hi,
I do not see the file voicedialer.apk i the zip file that you attached. Pardonmy ignorance. Also, can you provide a link for a root explorer application? My HTC One X doesnt let the application enter root.
Thanks.
