Manila "Today Screen" Softkey Change

Here is a step-by-step instructions on how to change the Manila Home "Today" screen bottom "Phone" soft key into "Contacts" soft key.
1. Download and copy the following Cab file onto your device SD card.
2. from your device install the downloaded cab file on the DEVICE memory.
3. Go to Start/Programs/System/Manila Config/Softkeys ( from the bottom tabs ), (Manila Config is also called Manilla 2D Customizer (M2DC)) Locate it and click on "Softkeys").
4. In the box under the "Left Softkey Name" type in Contacts
5. Click on the Right-hand box next to the 'Left Softkey Command space.
6. Locate the "Windows" directory and click it and wait till directory tree opens up.
7. Locate "RandomAccess.exe" file and click it; you will see it toward the bottom of the "Windows" directory tree.
8. Click on "Apply" at the bottom of your screen display.
9. it will prompt you to restart, click OK and you will have the lefthand soft key changed to Contacts. A much better setting than "Phone" command which you can access via the Green "Phone" hard button.

is it possible to use this to add "device lock" to the today screen? im running garmin dk.4.c if that helps. i dont like the slide2unlock.

... I downloaded the file. Copied it to my SD card and ran the .cab but it doesn't ask me where I want to install it (phone or SD) and just says it's installed. So I reset the phone look for the Manilla Softkey Edit in Settings/System... nada. Any ideas?
Just a thought... is it because I'm running TF3D? That's the only thing I can think of.

I am experimenting with TF3D but did not dive into key remapping yet. I suggest you copy the cab file onto your device memory and try to run it that way. Your initial installation could have taken place on your SD card perhaps, and thats why you are not seeing it. Try the Device memory and let us know.

See if you have M2DC ( Manila Customizer). If you do not have it then go to http://code.google.com/p/manilla2dcustomizer/
and install it.

Alternatively, you can have M2DC link the left softkey to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Contacts.lnk, no need to install any cab (other than M2DC, of course ).

it's easyier to use M2DC
Manilla customizer the latest build can change the softkeys
much easyier

Took the easy way out...
... I wanted to remap the right softkey to the RSS Hub... but I just used the PTT button instead since I don't use the voice recorder. Thanks for you help though... both of your options worked by the way.

How do i add device lock to the soft keys. By searching couldnt find anything..

Problem Cooking Manila2D

Hello,
Guys im facing problem cooking Manila into the ROM,i dont know y?? When i run im Manila2D cooked ROM it runs f9 just a tiny problem tht it wont add programs to launcher, cities to Weather Update and Contacts to People section When i click on the button used to add these thing nthng happens I tries using Different WM6.1 Builds, I have tried different packages of M2D, i have tried Update 18 and 19 both, same problem. Could you tell me what to do??

Update: I found answer to my question. "You must localize the .mui files to match that of the language of your firmware" Even that is done but still the same problem!! please help me
Update2: I installed HTC Home, it helped in showing the dialogs for adding cities, or programs but after i press ok nothing is added to Manila 2D Again Please help me. THNX

Try looking for the older HTC home plug in and add that to th e kitchen.
Run the kitchen to look for double files then remove th double files from the HTC Home folder. when all the double files are gone, remove all graphics from HTC home folder, bring over theregistry settings from the htc home rgu to the top of the m2d rgu, also move the remaining files from the htc home folder to m2d folder.
Maybe that is what you are missing.

how to uninstall an application on mobile memory

How can I uninstall a .cab file that I've installed on memory phone?
I cannot found this application on the list... I've installed a new Leo Today Screen and I would like to go back the original one...do you have the .cab of original theme....?

sounds like it is installed to the windows registry.

file explorer phone memory find the located file hold down on it till menu appears and delte if not mount ur phone as a disk drive on ur comp and search that way

If it's a .cab you installed, why don't you just uninstall it?
Slide to settings page > Applications > Remove programs
That should take care of it... (You might have to do a soft reset for the changes to take effect).

Possible to remove "Start" icon and text?

Apologies if this has been asked and answered elsewhere, I searched but couldn't find it: Is it possible to remove or at least hide the "Start" icon and text from the upper left corner of the screen on a stock TMOUSA HD2? Seems unnecessary to have it there when we have a hard button for the same thing.

At least in WM6.1 I edited "shellres.dll.041D.mui", 041D is the code for Sweden so you have to figure out what code is your country.

it's very easy to remove the start icon in 6.5.x versions..
don't know whether this works in 6.5
(6.5.x is the one with the big bottom bar and start on bottom left)

I'm interested in this as well, but it didn't work out for me.... I installed SDKCERTS.cab, so that's not the problem.. :s

The no start cab in dafunk's thread worked perfectly. Thanks for this. (This removes the test not the icon.)

has anybody given the reg edits a try on 6.5.0?
I to think its pointless having the start icon in the top left when there is a perfectly placed hardware button

The below works for me.
Run the exe of the installed program from your SD Card (In my case, SASHIMI), and a shortcut will be placed automatically in the Start Menu. Now when you try to add it on one of the CHT empty quicklinks (either 1.8.5 and 2.0), you'll find it in the programs list.
Hope this helps.

I have fexploreext installed which adds additional features to the file explorer. one of which is the ability to click on any .exe and create a shortcut in the start menu without all the hassle. you can then select it to be used in CHT.

and if you still want to know how to do it manually :
- copy an .exe file
- past as shortcut in : Device/Windows/Start Menu

Go into file explorer.. find the exe.. hold it down.. in a few secs a screen appears that gives.. add to start menu... as an option go back and it should be with al lthe other programs
