Tytn2 aka Kaiser error in turning off - General Questions and Answers

Hello there!
I have a weird problem with my Tytn2. When i try to turn it off by pressing for 5 seconds the power button, it displays on the screen the regular message, that power will be turned off and i may lose data if not saved. Press ok and the power seemes to be turned off completely, because the green led won't flash. But, when i press the power button trying to turn on the device, it doesn't boot for entering the system, it just suddenly display the Orange Logo and above it a tiny black bar with the proper icon showing me that i have no phone signal at all (see picture). By pressing the "x" in the right side of the bar, the logo dissapear and appears the home screen, but the same icon is showing that i have no signal at all. I have to go to the comm manager, press once the Phone symbol which is already blue (enabled), and it sticks on the Flight mode. Press once again the Phone, and i have phone signal. The fact is that the phone it doesn't turn off completely and it hangs in a weird state (sleep mode ?). Please help me if you can! Thank you very much !

turning off the XDA EXEC

Hello
How does ont turn off the XDA EXEC, i dont see any off button. the power button just turns the screen backlight on and off.
the reason why i wanted to know what it was is because i am porting my number across networks, and 02 told me to turn off my phone a number of times during the day, so that it could go into a boot up process.
There is no real way to trurn the device off, but what they will be wanting you to do is disable the phone section (do this by turning on flight mode, or by clicking on the green connections manager in the bottom and click on the phone button. Click the phone button again to turn it on.)
Start -> Programs - Wireless Manager -> All Off (This switches of the phone.
Then use the phone on/off button at the top of the screen there, to switch it back on and force your SIM to re-register with the network, which should have the desired effect your after.
Taking out the battery is the only real 'off' button.
thanks for the replies dudes
did you try holding the power button as well? that works on my wizard
not sure if it's true for all wm5 though
i held the power down button for some time and it blanked teh screen. when i held the power button again for a few seconds the screen came back to life, but this time there is no "back light(?)"
how do i get back the "back light(?)"

There remains a bug, it seems, that sometimes prevents the backlight from firing up when starting the device.
It used to happen on my XDA2i and still happens on my Exec.
I usually have to get it in a good light and go to settings and move the brightness slider to get it working.
Turning off the device, I find, is actually achieved by pressing the power switch before closing lid.
I find I get much more out of each charge if I do this rather than just close the lid.
That of course turns of the PDA functionality of the device. The radio (phone) service is still disabled via Flight Mode.
somehow i double posted...sry
thanks for the reply
i guess by pressing the power button, the pda goes ito some sort of sleep mode, since it does not boot up later, correct?
when it is charging up using a usb cable connected to my pc, the backlight is turned of, and no amount of pressing buttons seems to turn on the backlight, is that correct?
i checked out the brightness level sliders, there are 2, the
1. on battery which is somewhere in between
2. on power which is "slided" to the left, is that its correct position?
you will probably find it will selfboot at midnight.. this appears to have been intentional in the design of all the XDA's.
Thia can be a nuisance but it is probably to do with reseting timers. alarms etc
The backlight is configured to be on/off during external power and on battery in which ever setup you choose.
The actual levels you set it at are your choice ..
I set mine to be off after 5 mins on external power i.e. when charging except when i use tomtom and want it to stay on whilst externally powered.
On these occasions I change the setting before the journey
Your original question with reference to O2 making changes that required you phone to be off, in my experience, means not having the O2 sim in the device.
thanks for the reply dude
i think my questions have exceeded the remit of this thread. i will start another thread for the backlight questions

I ruined my VOX! I need HELP!

My vox keeps on restarting when the microsd card is inside, and when it's outside its just doesn't getting to the home screen. It's getting stuck on the second HTC logo.
It is after I did soft reset to my device after I used the SDA_ApplicationUnlock and the new comm manager style (list):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355490
I've tried hard reset:
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=255861&mode=threaded
And it doesn't seam to work... ):
When I push all the 3 keys altogether when the VOX is off the phone doesn't even turn on, just pushing only the power button turning the VOX on.
So, how can I rescue my VOX?
By the way, I soft reset my VOX by pulling outside the SIM slot and then pushing it back inside.
to hardreset you have to :
1. turn off the phone
2. press and keep pressed the 2 softkeys
3. press power button for about 2 sec
4. release the power button, but keep the other 2 keys pressed about one more sec
5. a black screen will aprear with some white text asking for hardreset confirmation.
good luck
Nothing happens… only when I press just the power button the phone turning on.
Maybe I don't know what are the two softkeys?
Help!
the sokt keys are the 2 keys between the home and back keys and the d-pad, ie the keys above "1" n "3"
hth
Well, I was wrong about the two softkeys. But its still doesn't seem to work.
When I follow the instruction above the phone is turning on, as usual, but nothing else happens (the phone still gets stuck at the second HTC logo).
when you press the power button even if the screen lights up keep the pw button pressed for 2 sec then release it but keep the other 2 but. pressed
Still doesn't work, its continuing to the screen with the "windows mobile" logo.
I had the same promblem, fixing by removing SIM and go ahead
1. turn off the phone
2. press and keep pressed the 2 softkeys
3. press power button for about 2 sec
4. release the power button, but keep the other 2 keys pressed untill...
5. a black screen will aprear with some white text asking for hardreset confirmation.

Hi It still doesnt seem to work with me.
Because i have the same problem and i tried to do all the things from above.
This is bad. man my phone doesnt work.
That's strange, if the phone can go as far as the second htc screen I thought it should be able to hard reset.
Also make sure usb cable is not plugged in while you try to hard reset. I just tried it and I don't get the white text on black screen when I have the cable in.
ן succeeded in doing a HR a couple of days ago, but I forget to write it down here.
The instructions are:
1. Take out the battery of 5 sec.
2. Put in the battery.
3. Press the two soft keys (above 1 and 3), and don't stop pressing.
4. Press the power button. The sec the green light blink, next to the HTC logo, you remove your finger from the power button (this is what no one told me).
5. You are asked to press the SEND button to confirm the HR.

Sorry, let me rewrite myself:
I didn't fully understand this instruction, and if I didn't understand it good enough maybe other people would understand it as me. So I wrote a farther instruction.

[Q] Screen not working after startup

Hi guys,
I have a peculiar issue. My nexus 5 displays the battery when charging when off, the android appears when selecting recovery etc. when power button and down volume button are pressed, and the phone when turned on displays the lights twirling and then the android symbol. So the phone appears to be fully functioning. After the word android disappears and the phone has started up there is no further display. However if I press the power button the 'turn off phone'will appear in the middle of the screen.
Has anybody any idea what the issue could be. I put the logic board in to another nexus and the same issue occurred. My thinking would be to reflash the phone?
Thanks for any input

Y6 hangs on switch off - have to remove battery

When I press the power button, tap power off, and then tap the "press to turn off'"circle in the middle of the screen, the turn off animation of the red dot going round the circle begins and the phone them vibrates at which point it should normally switch off, but the screen stays on and the animation continues - I have to pull the battery to get the phone to go off. It is as if an application is still running and not letting the phone switch off - but that is just my thoughts.
I have been trying to root the phone (people may have read my experiences in this forum), but haven't done anything else to it.
Any ideas folks? Be much appreciated. I do have a nandroid backup of stock.
Thanks in advance
