I've been searching for a while now and cant find a good app to use for volume control. I like the good ol htc volume control, but it doesnt work right in the latest releases. Ive used setVolume and volumeKeys but neither work all that well with the latest releases either. I would like to have the htc volume control working for the volume keys again, I was happiest with that. Any ideas?
Try Volumex by the same producer of PocketShield

Tried that. I get error messages while trying to save the settings telling me to try and save the settings again, lol. Its nice but is there any good freeware solutions?
I am using Volumex without any issues (Topaz WM 6.5 stock).
Did you already tried this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395695
yea in my first post. setVolume has some conflicts with the WM volume control and sometimes doesnt hook the volume keys.
P.s. tries using S2U2's volume control but that doesn't work period.
Just found a new fix. Lost the link but still have the file.

Hi,
I have a problem with the hard volume buttons.
When pressed they function as up and down buttons but with a few seconds delay. I want them to control the volume. I have probable installed some program that messed up the phone but can't get it to work the way I want even after many uninstalls...
Finally I found AEBPlus trial and I do not know what I did but the buttons now works. Afer uninstalling AEBPlus the volume buttons do not work anymore.
Does anyone know of a solution to the problem which does not include AEBPlus? Registry?
Edit:
I have a HTC Diamond with Windows Mobile 6.1
ROM: 2.03.413.2.SVE (latest original)
Radio: 1.09.25.23
It seems like it is a custimized taskbar problem...
what's installed on your device?

A lot...
Problem seemes solved.
I read about another guy who had the exact same problem and after blaming g-alarm for a while he came to the conclusion that it was an old htcvolumecontrol.dll that what the root cause. I did an update on my taskbar and now it works.
I finally customized my mega the way I wanted it to be when I initially bought it. I'm also running a 6.5.5 rom. Unfortunately I still have some issues with it and I was wondering if someone knew anything about them. First of them is if it would be possible to remove the start soft key in the bottom left corner of the screen. That would be nice since the mega already has a hardware start key and the one on the screen becomes redundant. It would be nice if we would just have two soft keys in the bottom corners
Also, I looked for a solution for the ugly volume manager in these last builds but couldn't really find one. I tried other volume managers like setvolume but that one is buggy even with answering phone calls. I find that unacceptable because most of all, it's a phone. So maybe if we could restore the default one or use another one without so many bugs that would be great. I saw somewhere that a solution was already available but for vga phones. Maybe that could be ported to qvga
I am with you on this. Would love to see these fixes.
I need theses fixes too!!! WM 6.5.5 has bad interface...
Why does the volume control must be so fat and ugly??
The most important thing is volume control in the youtube app sucks!
I wish someone can fix the volume control to use back the original HTC one.
Erm ok, the problem is even when the default HTC Volume control is implemented in the ROM, for some reason WM 6.5.5 overwrites that. I tried a few times. I think that sucks cos I'm a student , and my phone needs to be on silent. But the new volume control can be activated on the lockscreen so I'm afraid it would turn silent off. Any suggestions for this?

There's a nice app called SetVolume that does the trick quite nicely. Also, there's a cab that can remove the start button. I lost the cab but there's a registry tweak that does the job. You can search for it.
Hello.
I need a program which can control my phones volume but control screen have to open by taskbar icon.
One good example is VolumeX but this is only trial.
Just checked the Volumex website....but could not see if it opens from taskbar (in 6.5 ofcourse). Can you confirm?
You must set it up on the 3rd tab at Start > Volumex Settings

Yes, I confirm that I can open it from taskbar
Thanks....than I need to get Volumex....
Well the Volumex thingy really sucked for me. First of all, it's too complicated. A volume control program should be up-volume up, down-volume down and two other buttons for vibrate and silent profiles. I don't need the default volume and interval checking features. It's like programming your day once more for using the volume control program on your smartphone. And that's dumb. And it has some sort of fade-out feature that is really annoying because it runs so slow that you can actually see the steps of it dissapearing and when you want to actually change the volume it doesn't check for idle state because I was pressing the volume keys and the app was doing it's routine of fading out even as I'm using it. Paying 10$ for this app would be a serious waste. It seems like it's the easiest thing in the world to write an app for controlling the volume, yet there is no good one out there. Too bad as I'm stuck with the 3.1 look on the default 6.5.5 package.
I find the default volume and timer feature useful for work, I use min volume at work and max when I listen music with headphones... but when I end listening I always forget to restore it to min and my boss gets mad... Volumex reminds me to switch to default (min) volume.
Btw it costs 8.90 not 10
why dont just asine a mini prog on the one of the hard keys, like volctrl.exe ie,got one uploaded look @ me pfile

In WM 6.5.x we no longer have the HTCVolumeChanger, but have the horrible WM volume changer, which isn't finger friendly at all.
My question to you, is what alternatives do you guys use?
you could look at SetVolume app.
Also look in TAEL ROM threads as have some relevant posts on this.
Personally I use the volume button & also use a volume bubble app which allows volume to be increased in smaller % steps, not finger friendly but esy via d-pad & button mapping.
im using setvolume now but it changes my ringer on whenever i get a call on vibrate so im looking for something else
ill try the TAEL thread
do you have any idea where?
Another app you could look at is volumekeys.
Do a search for "HTC volume control" & you should find plenty of threads on it, I don't think it is easily resolved but you may get lucky.
I have a problem with Coreplayer and my HD2.
I have made three hotkeys in Coreplayer. Volume up (F6 play fullscreen), volume down (F7 Move forward) and telephone button (F3 Open files). Everything works perfect running Coreplayer. But when I close Coreplayer non of the three buttons work in Windows anymore. Volume doesn't respond to the volume button and the same with the phone button. I have to restart my HD2 to get the buttons to work again.
Anyone who have a solution to my problem?
not sure if it'll work for you:
in Coreplayer go to Tools/Settings/Advanced,
enable "Capture all buttons (like games)",
restart the phone and try then
Perfect! This seem to have solved my problem. Thank you so much!

Fantastic, I've been trying to get this to work for ages!!! Went though all the settings, but couldn't figure out what to do..... some phrase with "Wood for Trees" springs to mind!!
And here I am using LMT control panel from this site (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=629263)
