Anyone seen the Eclair 2.1 News and Weather App backport for 1.6? It's included in Dwang 1.15 and it is pretty awesome IMO. Not tech-savvy enough, but was wondering if anyone was interested in making a standalone .apk for CM and other ROMs, seems relatively feasible with all the dank Contacts/Dialer.apk backports. Thanks!

update: thanks to chuckhriczko we have an update.zip. googlebits included, livewallpapers are running, except for nexus ones, this is working on the AOSP 2.0.1 build, includes the new music app, youtube, new 3d gallery, its slow and glitchy but it does load,launcher2 is installed but just gives a black screen and force closes, most likely due to lack of openGL but the still wallpapers from it work!!!and updated host scripts to block ads.
Wipe, flash and enjoy.

Update:
i have the nexus LWP to sit on loading, no longer force closes, i have the nexus themed launcher installed, flan clock app, gumbo kernal installed, protected apps showing in market, will upload new version once i get super users to work right

I think this is a 2.0.1 ROM, not 2.1 but I could be mistaken.

its 2.0.1, openGL is needed for the 3d gallery, not lwp

batt life is not bad, although i havent kept them constantly running, trying to figure out the nexus papers
It looked like it put some serious lag when switching between the three homescreens. Did you experience that, or was it just from the quality of the video? Nonetheless, that is sweet

there was a little lag wit the digital rain (matrix) wallpaper
i am going to try to compile a update.zip later today, will include, AOSP build, googlebits,roaming fix, and livewallpapers

Awesome. We all will be looking forward to it. I do need to ask, is it possible to get this on the Hero 2.1 build that's floating around or are the files that need to be modified hacked to hell by HTC in those roms?
Is the camera and gps working on this build????
How is it that someone who can figure out how to get that running on his Hero has no idea how to get a camera to focus on something?
Does the Google Voice app work correctly on 2.0.1? That's the one issue that's prevented me from using the 2.1 ROM on a daily basis.
Hey everyone just wondering if it would be possible for anyone to theme the genie widget to match the desire rom? Since modaco latest rom coming with this app, it is one of my favorite apps but it sticks out like a sore thumb using it with the Sense UI!
If this would be possible it would be really awesome and maybe modaco could include this version with his rom so everything matches!

I posted this one in the Desire rom thread. Just delete the .zip from it's name. I found this in the G1 forum a couple of months ago. I'm sorry but I can't remeber who posted it there. This one has a transparent background.

Can the full screen weather lockscreen from Sense 2.1 roms be extracted as an zip mod?
I'm running Freshs 1.1 and would like to add it.

I was under the assumption that was a lockscreen.

Right, I think you're just looking for the HTC Weather/Clock app.
I would be intrested on this to. You can run nexus one weather widget on 1.5, I'm hoping its the same for the weather app on 2.1 it can be brought to 1.5

Dude....most people here still use 1.5 based roms because they still have a camara. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with having requests. That is what this forum is all about.....its not about complaining about what people ask for.

All I can say is WOW.....
I know I was using the Nexus One Weather widget with Darschs 2.1 rom before the whole eris leak. But haven't heard anything about it working for 1.5 or not. A good weather widget though I would suggest is snowstorm its on the market and has additional icon packs available for it too.

Its been discussed before. The frameworks are different.
legend roms only right now, make a choice. DarchLegend is a solid rom.

For me its either Darch or Flipz...the best roms IMO.
Friend Stream is such a nice widget for integrating facebook and twitter that I may have to go back to Darch.
I love that the Flipz rom is based off the sprint leak but I feel like its still lacking all the benefits of the Legend builds...

I meant when you said Flipz' rom was lacking all the benefits of a Legend rom, I just wanted to know what benefits besides the Friend Stream. I too think that Flipz and Darch make the best roms, I just haven't had a chance to try out DarchLegend v5 yet. I loved v4.3.
Friend stream was the main thing but some other apps don't seem to work for me right now like epocrates...
That said, both are solid...

Well one of the better features on the legend Rom is the browser that comes along with it. It has a very cool copy and paste feature that is also tied with easy dictionary and translation access.
Can't we just load the APK up ourselves?

Thanks...I gave that a shot but it just says "did not install".
I have allow untrusted checked off too so...maybe it needs to be resignedi don't know...
It's not a matter of getting it installed. It has dependencies on other apks images and framework files. It will never work on another Rom unless some ports all its dependencies over which well no one seems to want to do.
It cannot just be installed and work believe me. I wish it was that simple.
Does anyone have a working HTC Sense LiveWallpaper for CM7 or can make a version that works with CM7
Unfortunately, the HTC Sense Livewallpaper is ripped from HTC Sense Froyo.
So most likely you have to wait for a HTC Sense Gingerbread phone with the livewallpaper first. If I'm not wrong, you can't really hack the Froyo one to the Gingerbread rom because the libraries aren't updated yet.
Is musashiken's post the final answer with this? I too would love this to work with CM7/GB. It's one of my favorite live wallpapers. I'd be happy to 'buy a beer' - actually make that a couple beers to anyone that can make this work!
