USB Device not Recognized - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

i just purchased a CINGULAR 8125 but when i tried to sync it with my pc this error appears
"USB Device not Recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
i tried to sync my pda with 2 different pc's but same error...can anybody help me is this a hardware fault or software? and how to solve this problem ..
thanx

try another USB cable

i did.....with 2 different cables...on 2 different pc's...
by the way if i m not wrong i can use simple mini usb cable to connect the pda with pc...or theres some special cable for cingular 8125?
and yeah is there any way to know if my phone is CID LOCKED or not?

cid lock you can see from bootloader - it shows version of spl and ipl
I'm using normla miniUSB cable with no problem. But I had miniUSB cable to my BT GPS, and it won't run with wizard.

Did you install ActiveSync?
A normal MiniUSB-cabel should work!
Try to use WST (you will find it here somewhere). You can test if USB-communication works and if it does you can also check if your device is cid-locked or not.

That is not true!!!
If you unlock your G3 Wizard the IPL/SPL does not change! But you can see if you have a G3, a G4 or a G4 with HardSPL. G4 is never CID-Unlocked. Only a G3 can be unlocked and you will not know by watching the bootloader.

please reinstall activesync, i've seen same problem, but when i reinstall, allthing is ok try again!

well, i mean only hardspl you can see from bootloader... But, i think, wizard service tool can show cid lock ( wst )

Solution found: Unbricking tha Prophet (it doesn't even have to be able to boot)

this should be stickied !!!
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK, AND ONLY IF YOUR PROPHET IS ALREADY BRICKED !!! (I recovered my Prophet, so for me it worked - me happy little bunny)
After many hours of digging on this site, i have found a way to unbrick my G3 Prophet (i'm guessing that this could also be slightly modified to work for G4 - change ipl & spl .nbf files with the appropriate ones, maybe ?! )
Everything said here is also somewhere on this site (but not necessarily on the Prophet section, although most is), so i'm not bringing anything new. I'm just putting it all in one place.
After flashing the IPL from Wizard on my Prophet, it obviously didn't even enter boot mode anymore.
To enter boot mode (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=292667 for more experiences):
1. Cut charger cable (yes, yes, no more usable charger, but you can still charge via USB later)
2. Inside the cable you will find one small white cable inside a lot of strands of others.
3. The white one you will have to connect to the first pin of the battery connector (the one closest to the camera) and all the others (spin them all into one) to the 5th pin of the same connector (there are 6 pins in total on that connector) - take care not to touch any other pins
4. Plug charger into socket
5. Enter Boot Mode (reset while pressing comm button)
6. VOILA !!! - I have, btw, NO IDEA why this works
Now you just have to use the attached Update Utility (RUU.zip - taken from Professional Kitchen Core or smth like this, somewhere on this site) with the IPL and SPL .nbf files also attached. IPL has been taken from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315016 while SPL was extracted from RUU-Prophet-G3-AKU2.2-2.20-2.47.21-Jester-r1 ROM. Just copy them one by one to the folder were you have extracted RUU and run RUU. In order to write both IPL & SPL, you have to run RUU twice (once with IPL nk.nbf file and once with SPL nk.nbf file)
I think the KEY to this working (yes, yes, I KNOW, you cannot downgrade SPL, oh wait, YES YOU CAN !!!) is the RUU. Tried a few, and this one is the only one that actually worked.
Now all you have to do is flash your Prophet with your favourite ROM.
Your Prophet is now UNBRICKED.
Btw, i think this also CID unlocks your device
one question, have anyone tried this, and is it for G3 or for G4 device??
the files are for g3 ...
g4 have locked areas in the doc ... this is the reason why you cant CID unlock it!
anyone tried this on univesal too?

for the first i've flashed IPL and it's changed to 2.20... after that i've moved to flash SPL and my device turned dead while flashing
Works on g4 device?
please can you give-me spl 2.20 for g4 please? i haved that on my pc... but i have lost all of my files
i've tried on a G4, but doesn't work
anyone tried and success on g4 ??
thanks
thanks a lot, i just recover my G3 prophet
Hi,
So I can connect the charger to the pins AND have the USB cable attached to the USB mini port?
You connect he charger to the battery pins (that is you open the back and remove the baterry!!!!), and of course you have the usb cable attached to the phone!!
Just tried it on a Charmer (same pins config) but no joy. I think the mainboard must be dead. Thanks anyway, I enjoyed playing with wire (LOL).
thx mate
using your solution I successfully saved my S200!!!
you da man!
i have same problem, i tried this trick in my qtek9100 with prophet G4, doesn't work!
how can help me to bring in life my qtek 9100 please!
i have problem
IPL 2.09
SPL 2.20.0001
help me please
bootloader seems to work again thanks man
bizarre my prophet G3 boot with battery again end suddenly shut down how can i charge my battery ? Any suggestions ?
It worked on my Qtek s 200, but as I dont have charger I made this with old usb cable. Cuted usb cable isolated all wires just left black (gnd -) and red (+) i connected it red on first pin, black on sixth pin and i booted my s200 again . And for the battery I used old ac adapter on 6 V connected directly to battery (+ pin1, gnd- pin6) for about 30 sec (warning battery may explode this way I know coz my Nokia N95 batt exploded like that) and it worked. I had to do that because I did not use s200 after I got SE xperia x1. I messed with changing the rom and lived it like that (so as my xperia is a litle bit dead now and I am waiting the service to repair it) now I had time do deal with it and it works fine, brings back memories

Tilt Bricked?

Possibly the fastest phone brick in history... I did everything wrong...
AT&T Tilt, Windows Vista host machine
I ran the SSPL, NOT the Hard-SPL...
16% thru it failed
Rebooted, tri color screen, but not the same extact screen I had seen after running the SSPL on my Tilt.
Hard Reset, said yes take me to factory settings, back to same tricolor screen
Plugged it into a XP box, drivers installed, plugged in USB (it shows USB connection on the screen) Activesync of course wont go green
Loaded both the Kraiser rom and the Cingular rom, both fail at 1% and reboot the device and same invalid device ID..
Any ideas, aside from I'm a r-tard?
I ran the Hard-SPL on my HTC and it worked as it should. I'd say give that a shot, THEN try flashing the ROM of your choice.
-Mc
Problem is, when I run hard spl it expects activesync to be running, but in bootloader mode AS doesnt connect so Hardspl wont load =/
- Disable activesync usb connections
- Connect to bootloader with mtty and type the following commands to know your CID and Model ID:
Code:
Cmd>task 32
Cmd>info 2
Cmd>getdevinfo
Paste the output here, and also tell me which SPL version you have on your device.
Also, does the tri-color shows "RUURUN" or similar in the screen?
You should flash a ROM matching your CID to fix it.
Cmd>task 32
No card inserted
Level = FF
Cmd>info 2
HTCSCWS__001Ùü¤HHTCE
Cmd>getdevinfo
GetDevInfo: Get CID OK
HTCSKAIS1*00CS_0HTCE
Cmd>
Device screen says
RUUNBH
KAIS1*0
SPL-1.56.0000
CPLD-8
Flash this ROM, should bring it back to life.
I'm leeching it now, 40% done, also FYI, I've posted on the Official ROM forum new links to most utilities and ROMs hosted on my servers off the rapidshare, to share free of charge.
Ahh, life saver =) Thanks, I'll be sure to add that rom to my list of full Kraiser roms on my web server, now to correctly flash it back with the HTC rom.
Thanks!
Same problem as TS. Bigger problem ... does anyone have the Dutch ROM?
Tnx!
I got the same problem as Palmore. After 16%, stuck, then bricked. I am downloading the ROM pointed by POF (thanks man!!) hopefully will unbrick it. Now, how do we get the HTC Kaiser ROM on this thing? Anyone?
It's on my phone. Tell me how do dump it and I ll send it to you.

Run the Hard-SPL utility on your PC, and follow the instructions (sticky on this forum)
It will allow you to flash any ROM after that, I've flashed the AT&T Rom, the HTC rom and back and forth, pulling cabs out of the AT&T rom for the items I like (IM utility etc)

Bricked
Ok, so here is my situation. I have a Tilt and Vista.
I ran HardSPL and I am at the tri-color screen. I have:
KAIS1*0
SPL-1.JumpSPL
CPLD-8
USB (in the middle of the screen)
I tried disconnecting and reconnecting it several times. I cant get HardSPL to run again (it hangs at the first section looking for ActiveSync) I tried restarting Vista several times. I can NOT turn off my device, as holding down the power button does not appear to work.
I have tried just running a couple of .exe roms (AKU 0.7.0 ROMS) and I get the connection error [264]. I cant re-establish my ActiveSync connection. In device Manager I have Microsoft USB Sync for the mobile device, but I cant get ActiveSync (Mobility Center) to see it.
I have tried opening MTTY to run "boot" but it says USB Port Can NOT be opened.
I just need some direction here, as it seems like everything hinges on my ActiveSync connection. I have been up and down the Wikis for Hermes and all the similar ones, and I think I am SOL.
I WILL GLADLY DONATE if thats what it takes for someone to help me. Thanks guys, I cant wait for my HTC Rom to work.
Vista Problem.
First off, i had the same problem as you so i just found an XP box to use.
Second, even with XP i still managed to **** up because i did not read the directions all the way through. This device is totally different so make sure you read all the directions.
If you have no access to an XP machine then u can just "obtain" a copy of XP and dual boot just for flashing your device.
If you have no idea what I am saying then read some more. the hermes forums have some great information when it comes to flashing via Vista.
For all you guys that just saved between $300.00-$500.00. How about sending POF like %5 or %10 of what he just saved you...
I'm just sayin'
Later, Lew
Have you installed the XP activesync drivers under Vista? The Hermes Wiki mentions somewhere how to do that.

I got it working. I had to pull the battery out of the phone to get it out of bootloadr, it was just plain stuck. Then, in Vista, I needed to F8, disable driver enforcement, I replaced the wceusbh.inf in device manager, and relaunched HardSPL and there she was! Now for the BigStorage.
Thanks to all that helped, I will be donating pof for sure

OK lets start at the basics...... In bootloader mode (tricolour screen) what text does it say at top of the screen?
Have you DEFINITELY Sim Unlocked and CID unlocked?
it says these things
kais130 mfg
spl-10.0.Olipof
cpld-8
Ok that confirms you have the capability to flash. I have seen in the past some people have managed to flash one time only using jumpspl but then their device reverts back to original bootloader...I was one of those people
Next question then...Can you boot the phone normally and gain an activsync connection to it?
yes
i can use my phone normally
only i cannot put a new image in
Are you using Xp or vista? If using vista it may be worth trying a reboot... sometimes it goes doolally with its usb ports. If you cannot see the phone through WMDC or activsync after a reboot it is worth going to SYSTEM (on your PC) viewing non present devices through device manager,( Drop to Command prompt and type... Devmgmt.msc set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1 ) removing the relevant phone connection and then re attaching it so that windows re detects it.
If you can get a connection via actvisync (win XP) or WMDC (vista) to your phone then all should be ok. Uncheck the activesync/ WMDC "allow USB connections" and try again.
If this still doesn't work then search around here for MTTY. That will allow you to specify the usb connection to the device...amongst other things.
thank you for your time
i have win xp and activesync works nice
the problem is when bootloader starts
When you attempt flashing, do you do it from the device already booted into windows mobile or direct from bootloader?
Which ever way you have tried it, try ther other way.
Not teaching you to suck eggs but just in case you dont know.... To get direct to bootloader hold camera button and soft reset with stylus whilst holding camera button down and the tri colour screen should appear.
With device at the bootloader screen, Can you confirm that you hear the windows "noise" when you unplug and re plug the USB cable just as you would when plugging and unplugging the device normally. This will determine if the device has connection at the bootlaoder stage.
why not just flash using the microsd card. its much easier that way
yes it has connection
the thing is that i have already flashed as i told before with dutty's v4
now i can't
Usually Error 260's are related to the USB port functionality ( Port can't be opened etc).
The SD card method or MTTY should sort you out.
thx again
hope it works
at least the sd trick worked!!!!
now running on winmob 6.1
Glad to hear you sorted it.

disable USB connections in ActiveSync and flash.
This Link gives a list of eror codes for Hermes, and probably the same for Kaiser.
It's likely that you have a USB port error - maybe try changing the USB port you use or a different sync cable - or just stick to SD card flashing in the future - I keep an old 1gig card for this.
this IS the problem...i cannot flash...
it stays in the bootloader with the message i wrote

TYTNII Flashing problem

Hi guys,
Yesterday I upgraded from my Vox (running Gonzo WM6.1) to a Kaiser and started reading up on how to flash a custom ROM. Much more info and ROMS than for the Vox!!!
Firstly, before I even checked here, I upgraded to the latest WM6.1 HTC Rom.
Since that, no luck. I've read several pages, wikis and what have you, but I can't get the phone flashed with any HardSPL. Tried several versions of JumpSPL and there after only connection errors when doing HardSPL. On using JumpSPL1.93 the words USB doesn't come up on the bootloader screen - only on 1.56 and the 3.28 on the phone itself.
On that - most posts says on the bootloader it would show "...Jocky..." or "...pof..." SPL version, but mine everytime just says the standard "CPLD-8". The leads me to think that somehow it doesn't want to run the custom SPL version. I tried the SDA unlocker tool too, but it says "The device can not be unlocked"
After trying 2 hours I'm ready to throw in the rope....
the word usb will not appear on screen!
you need to unplug and replug your usb cable, to shift from serial to usb
or use force usb versions of hardspl

Yes it will, or it will not work. My Tilt has the exact issue. If I use JumpSPL 1.93, I will not get USB onscreen, and it will not communicate. If I use JumpSPL 1.56, I do get USB, and am able to communicate and flash.

If you load JumpSPL 1.56, and see USB onscreen, then follow the flashing instructions from that point (I don't bother with unchecking Allow USB Connections in ActiveSync), and HardSPL will flash successfully. If you get a communication error, switch USB ports; preferably to a different USB controller (i.e from front USB to back USB).
Thanks guys - I tried that all. Get to the stage where it shows the percentage bar and stays on 0% until the errors stops it all.

What error message? Each error number means something different.
Connection error. Tried various methods now and on two different pcs, but no luck. I think it's something to do with the phone being locked.
Is the SDA_Unlocker utility generic or is there a specific version for the Kaiser? I get an error saying "Phone is not unlockable"

connection problems while flashing SPL

Hello,
I'm realy going insane at the moment.
I try to degrade the SPL from SPL-1.0.OliPof (KAIS130 MFG, CPLD-8 <- whatever that means) back to the orginal one.
What I'm doing is:
1. connect the kaiser without sd card and sim card via active sync to my XP PC.
2. start the bootloader via button and stylus.
3. unplug the usb cable and replug
4. starting the KaiserCustomRUU tool.
the problem is that I always get an error 260 which means that there is no connection between pc and pda. by the way I already tried every possible solution mentioned in this forum.
What i figured out is that after I repluged the usb cable the computer detects the pda but is not able to install a suitable driver. So I have an unrecognized usb device in the device manager. I guess this is the issue but does anybody know how to solve it. I mean which driver is needed in this state?
can anybody help?
greetings,
macx
I must be misreading your post... you don't mention running JumpSPL/SSPL. If you're not doing that, then there's you freebie for the year, and also the solution to your problem.
sorry, my fault.
Point 2 is running SSPL of course. Version 1 leads to a white screen and the other two versions bring up the bootloader.
In the meanwhile I tried so many things that I was a bit confused when I wrote this post.
nevertheless I don't know what to do anymore to make it work.
