Japanese Input for HD2? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Is it any workable JP Input for HD2?
I've tried kind of method which work for diamond or even others WM6.5 machine.

I can install the cab file sucessfully but cant type/tap any JP charaters with it.
Is it the problem of my HD2 come with the chinese support from HTC?
my ROM is 1.48.831.0 (71294) WWE

The one from the second link (Advanced IME) works on my HD2 (Rom 1.48.405.2 (71294) WWE)
I installed LetsJapanWM61r07 and KeyTouchJapIMEr07.
Then, I installed Happy Taping Keyboard, which has an IME key to switch on/off the IME function. Then, I installed SIPChanger to make Happy Taping Keyboard as default. I also installed PQzII to see the status of IME (On/Off).
I put the regional setting to English (UK).
I have not tested the configuration for a longtime yet, but it seems to work with most applications.

Thx for yr kindly informations.
After few times of crash...hard-rest.....
Finally can tap Japanese after installed
LetsJapanWM61r07, KeyTouchJapIMEr07 and Happy Taping Keyboard,
But the others problems occur now,
I thinks its the problem in between mine HD2 is HongKong version,
HTC chinese support which have been installed by default.
without install any 3rd party software, we can read Japanese w/o any problem,
just lack of INPUT support.
Sure we have the chinese handwriting/taping support with it too..
After install the above tools,
i cant use the default ime to input chinese anymore....
>_<[email protected]#[email protected][email protected]%$#%!
what the ....
anyone have any solution?
PS,
in my point of view..
the fonts of HTC chinese support looks much clear, beatiful then others....

Sorry it doesn't work for you. As you say, there maybe some kind of software conflict....

Hello,
I hope you already found your solution by yourself, but I have also had similar problem on my HD2 with 1.48.707.2(71294)WWE ASIA ROM and found solution for mine.
I expect this information may help somebody else who wants to install Japanese IME into their HD2 (WWE ROM with HTC original Chinese support IME Touch Input 2.1).
First of all, I have already given up to configure this original ROM to make trilingual IME (EN,CN and JP) condition on my HD2.
This information will help ONLY for making bilingual IME (EN and JP) condition on your HD2.
I made it by flashing ROM (WWE EU/US 1.48.405.2) with Gold card method + "e-china for diamond" (with reloadnls.exe) produced by Asukal + "ATOK for windows mobile" + "ATOK update module" + "Fingerkeb2.1" + Japanese SKINS of Fingerkeb.
(FSKAREN also works instead of ATOK)
(installed .NET CF3.5 just in case)
I have attempted with same applications for original ROM but it had never properly worked at all ( I wasted more than 3days for configuring ).
If somebody wants to know whole story, I will explain it in other replay but the story is too long....
I DO NOT want anybody waste their time like me for this issue...
Thank you

well I'm trying to copy the JP IME from official WM6.5, which is how I made my WM6.0 WWE work with JP, not going well.
Where does one get ATOK for windows mobile from?

I was in the same situation more or less. Spent days after it and finally I got into something that allows me input but only in portrait mode since it looks like no wvga version is out yet.
My sequence (lol) brought me to have emoji too but still no true joy. The keyboard of FSKAREN in landscape is small and ugly, to say it all, so I was thinking about the "Fingerkeb2.1" + Japanese SKINS of Fingerkeb you mentioned.
I've seen the Finger Keyboard 2,1 thread but no trace of the Japanese skin so far.
Could you please link it here ?
Thanks in advance,
C.

I got it kinda working, but hiragana won't change to kanji
you must type, then select it and change...
I'll get another device to test soon.
another Q, what are
MsgStore.dll
helpstub.exe
imjp31u.dic
for?
When I made the Jp mod for WM6.0 I didn't need these files and it worked fine. But even then other cabs included them.

HD2 from HK, running WWE
It overrides wince.nls and thus it is impossible to install Japanese support on it.
I have programs that install Japanese support on WWE WM6.5 and inputs fine no the emulator but on HD2 it just crashes, or after install you still cannot select region settings as Japanese

Does it help?

Hi, I think that the problem is same as mine.
As you know that the wince.nls is always recovered by original ROM when each time of restarting your device. The reloadnls.exe is the program that overwriting nls file after recovered it by original ROM automatically. So you should have this (reloadnls.exe) shortcut file in you Start menu folder to prevent this kind of problem.
If there is no "Japanese" in list of region setting, means your modified wince.nls is not working correctly.
IME (Input Method Editor) crashes:
I am not really sure about the reason for this problem, but it seems be a conflict between Chinese IME and Japanese IME. It occurs on WWE ASIA ROM. If your device has the Chinese input support originally on soft keyboard, it must be a WWE ASIA ROM (I am quite sure that HK version is WWE ASIA ROM).
Can you check your "ROM version" from Start > Setting > About phone > Software information?
This is why I flash ROM with (WWE EU/US 1.48.405.2) on my HD2.
I installed ATOK and FingerKeyb 2.1 with WWE EU/US ROM, I don't have any problem about IME until today.
(You have to change registry - HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCMessaging\Setting - chenge EnableHtcRichEdit 1 to 0 for solving ATOK conversion problem).
I hope this info helps you.
Regards,

I got Japanese support set now.
Installed IME, but it can't load. So lacking writing, but I got gesture10 that does the kana bit OK...

great homescreen (very iphone)
celetask included (just press home key during 2 seconds but it's in chinese)
A very nice clock near the batery indicator.
Quite fast and stable.
i'll post more later for now it's time to reisntall my apps and games.
PS: please someone find us a way to have T9 in this rom...

What font is being used? is it the typical Chinese ac3 font or Segoe?
I'm afraid i don't understand your question beacause i don't know the fonts you are talking about. please explain!
Guys this really works,
Just installed it on my SP5 over an SP5m firmware. Its very quick to install too. it took 3 minutes to install.
I will advise if it worths.
any news on this?
This is the fastest rom I used on tornado without overclocking. Quicker boot, quicker logoff and menu control. It is very pretty looking like Iphone.
The only negative is that the default input language is chinese, so you have to press * a lot to write. Everything else is in english.
If you are a tech freak use it.
Cheers
I am confused about the language options. If you goto Settings you should be able to select Locale and change it to US and English right? If not then change the registry to delete every other language besides English. I have don that in the past and worked great. However, I am not willing to risk downloading this ROM if the language isn't right. Any other bugs with this ROM??

Not a big deal since we can change fonts easily thru Registry

anybody going to strip this down?!
would be great to get an aku3.x rom update for the tornado!
this one looks great. wm6 would be better though.
Wow, decided to quickly throw this on right before I took off to work this morning.
The very first think I noticed was the fix for my Motorola ht820 A2DP headphones! No more will I have to deal with the high pitched distortion/noise!
I'm assuming this was either just a partial flash, or it was built upon an imate rom because I still have my imate splash screen at the beginning.
I'm at work now, and I really should be working, so I wont have a chance to install any programs or tweak with the homescreen at all . . .
The iphone stuff is well done, but I couldnt care less about having a minimal looking screen, I'll go back to my previous settings . .
Also, hopefully I can search around here enough to find out how to get my t9 back. . . . not the end of the world but would be nice.
Would also be nice to get the midlet manager back.

Hi, i've already tried that solution but it doesn't work.
it's a diferent input software they used in this rom, it lacks suport for t9.
Can someone who knows how to speak chinese try to contact the maker of this rom (it's the guy in the link with screenshots i believe) and ask him for suport on how to make a xd-devs rom???
that would be fantastic.

WM6 and Maction Monster Chinese for Wizard

I have used Monster Chinese (Version 5 for WM5) for my Wizard (8125, G3) since I purchased teh device a little more than a year ago and have had much problem. The only difficulty I got was the Monster SIP keyboard won't pop up so sometimes it required a soft reset. Now I loaded several different WM6 ROMs I found here but always have problem - the system is slowing down, sometimes it get frozen/won't weakup...
I am not sure if this problem is caused by Monster Chinese. However since a lot of people here reported very stable/smooth experience with the same ROMs on the same type of devices, I can only question the apps I added by myself if I get the problem other peole won't. I wonder if there is anyone who is also using this Chinese software on a WM6 mochine (especially Wizard), and if yes can you kindly share some of your experience about it?
I know someone talked about CE-Star but for some reason I felt Monster Chinese is a better choice. Now I might reconsider it if CE-Star creates less trouble.
I've been always using one of the WWE kitchens here, replace with chinese wince.nls, add chinese fonts, add necessary registry modifications. And I'll get a stable WM6 ROM with English interface, but fully supports chinese.

Sounds very promissing. Could you provide some details about how you can do this - necessary files, hacks...
Btw, is there any Chinese input method included?
XDA WM6 with Monster CHinese and SIP
I tried using CE-Star Suite 2.8 Version R2a freezes all the time, and cannot connect to msn messenger live.
Monster Chinese and it's SIP works better, less freezes and msn can connect but still freezes with wm6, but I found XDA WM6 version best for Monster Chinese ....less freeze and the SIP keyboard popups faster and doesn't feezes as much, also I overclock too. But XDA WM6 does make a different when installing Monster Chinese.
This is the only way I got chinese working well, but it does affect the OS sometimes. Oh also install monster chinese as your last program is best cause I notice sometimes it conflicts with other programs, but if you install it last it runs better.

Thanks for sharing your experience. So it is confirmed that Monster Chinese will affect WM6 performance. Good to know you feel XDA WM6 performs better. I installed this one but moved to NBD7.3 for HTC Touch Today plugin. I probably will move back when a new XDA version is released.
I hope Maction can release a upgrade for WM6 soon (but I doubt). I like the hand-writing input for both simplified and traditional Chinese it has.
One thing I also want to try once I got some free time - I want to configure the WM6 to support Chinese as lilila posted and install Monster SIP only for Chinese input. Hope this is avoid the conflict Monster Chinese creates. This will be valid if the problem is from Monster Chinese but not Monster SIP.

My feeling is the keyboard has more chance to popup if you install the Monster SIP the first. This is the major problem I have had since I moved to WM5. We may need more testing on this. But I will try to load it the last and see if there is any difference.

Oh hey I install it that way too, first I install the IME keyboards first then Monster Chinese, then Monster SIP...works best this way when I install in these steps.

download Windows Mobile 6 Professional Images (CHT) or Windows Mobile 6 Professional Images (CHS).
Install the Emulators, and extract the wince.nls(CHT or CHS version) files from the windows directory. Also extract the mingliu.ac3 font file for CHT and the mingliu.ac3 for CHS.
Export the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink]
and
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\nls]
registries form the emulator for CHS and CHT.
Then in the kitchen, \SYS\WinCENLS_WWE directory, replace with the wince.nls you want: for CHT, copy mingliu.ac3 to the SYS\OS\ directory, for CHS, mingliu.ac3.
You can also prepare two OEM packages called nls and FonLink: the registry hacks for CHT and CHS that exported from the emulators. Or you can just import the registry after flashing the rom.
As for input methods, there are quite a few of them, either as OEM packages or in CAB formats.
Solution found.

Thanks for your advice. Taking the Independence Day break, I flashed my phone with NBD7.4 and tried several methods to enable Chinese support on an English ROM. Sorry I didn't follow your instruction since I don't know how to cook ROM and it seems not easy for me to learn . Luckily I found a simple way -
With NBD7.4 flashed into the phone, I simply installed a unicode font pack I found from the Internet, which includes multilingal characters, and restart (soft reset) the Wizard. The Chinese characters will be displaced nicely on screen. No need to reload wince.nls and/or change any registry key.
Later I installed Maction SIP (v5) with several input methods. Everything works fine so far.
This is a big issue to me since it resolved WM6 powered Wizard hangs up from time to time when Monster Chinese is installed. The only negative thing I can see is the font pack takes quite big space so if you need to load a lot of stuff in main memory, you may want to plan ahead.
DFUHMD.cab
Can you supply the link or file for DFUHMD.cab, How is your experience with is it more stable then Monster Chinese on wm6.

progress?
i'm really interested in this topic, i'm currently trying to get TomTom 6's chinese hardwriting/transcriber input to work, the pingying/zhuying work fine.
the handwriting/transcriber don't, though it seems to work fine with a chinese rom, so i'm trying to figure out where the problem is. i've tried installing monster chinese and CE-Star. both cause my system to hang...ALOT. so i was hoping this would work.
i'm just curious if anyone knows of the root of the problem, and if any progress have been made
i'm currently trying to make heads and tails of this

The link for the files:
http://rapidshare.com/files/45830591/CHtCHs.zip.html
I have built cabs for my packs, look at my signature.
The Chinese support pack includes all input method equipped with Traditional Chinese version of WM (Chajei, Phonetic, Writing Pad and Full Screen Writing. Chajei and Phonetic can use hardware keyboard).
The MUI pack localizes most parts of WM6, with shortcut names.
However before use, remember to backup your data, then apply the 2 security cabs, or you will get big trouble (Due to the fact that system DLLs are required to be signed, and it is not possible/feasible to get all DLLs signed with a valid certificate)
hey stark, i tried downloading the disablesecurity.cab from your website, the link doesn't work, says file isn't on server
is anyone else having that problem?
thanksss
Sorry, there is a mistake in the filename (CAB vs cab)
It is fixed now.
Remember to backup your Wizard before installing!

Problem with Touch Keyboard & Keypad

Hello folks,
I have installed the HTC Touch Keyboard & Keypad (from Duttys CAB repository) on my Kaiser. It has the standard german HTC ROM. The device has not been flashed or otherwise modified.
However, I can not input anything with the Touch Keyboard or Keypad. They do not accept any input, not even the touch of the screen is registered. Nothing! The standard WM6 keyboard works just fine.
What could that be?
Could it be that the Touch Keyboard and -pad only work properly on English ROMs? I have a german ROM after all.
Any thoughts on this?
I noticed that this happens once I select a different language from English.
Probably the dictionaries are not available.
OK, can I somehow get the Touch keyboard to work? Can I disable the dictionaries somehow? I would really like to test the touch keyboard...
Or can someone provide a german CAB file?

Thanks, but unfortunately that does NOT describe the problem I have. The guy there can not change to any other 3rd party input methods. I can do this.
I can select the Touch KB and KP as default input method. I can also open it with no problem. I just can not input anything using the Touch Keyboard or Touch Keypad!
I suspect this is due to the ROM version. I have a german ROM, the Touch KB seems to be a english (?) version.
Does someone have a german version I could try?
Or other ideas? I am open for pretty much any advice!
OK, I have my answer.
I have set up two emulated WM6 Professional, one German, one English.
--> In the German ROM I experience the problems described above.
--> In the ENglish ROM everything works just fine. The Heyboard behaves as expected.
=====> Therefore, the HTC Touch Keyboard found in Duttys CAB repository does NOT work with non-english ROMs.
Can someone cook a CAB that works with german ROMS?

I encountered exactly the same problem on a HTC Kaiser with German ROM - inputs work fine while having selected english, while selection of german doesn't give any reaction at all while typing. Interestingly, number input DOES work even "in german", thus I also suppose it must have to do with the english CAB version.
Therefore I'd also be glad to see some solution to this problem.
Thanx!
Hi! Does anybody have a solution to this problem jet?
It does not seem so.
I have "solved" the keyboard problem unconventionally: I have sold the Kaiser. Now I am waiting for a Touch Cruise from amazon.de
Thanks for the quick reply! Have fun with your Touch Cruise!!

Keyboard layout support for wm6 roms?

Hello,
I'm from switzerland, using a qtek 9000 with original wm5 Rom. I've tried several wm6 Roms yet, which all were fast and handy... the only reason to go back to my original rom, was the keyboard support (swiss german uses äöiü a lot) which simply wasn't there. I've tried tons of Registry hacks and all possible combinations of them, without success.. May it be possible, that the keyboard layout settings for swiss ger aren't even on these roms? Where are they stored? Since I've no experience on cooking roms, i dont know how to solve this problem. Any Idea?

I have an italian keyboard profile, after each ROM upgrade I usually change the registri key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty\Layout
Write down the value of you current ROM and set it after the upgrade.
This will solve your problem about the real keyboard (N.B. this change doesn't affect the soft keyboard, since I'm not interested in that one I never searched for a solution).
Marco.
Thanks for your help, but as i wrote in my first post, i tried a whole lot of registry keys (the one you mentioned now once again) without success.. I can get the original qwerty Layout to a qwertz, but the äöü.. are not to type as i can do in the original swiss german one (a+sym, u+sym usw). Any other ideas?
You need to edit \Windows\sym.txt (or sym.0409.txt or whichever one you use).
The file is simple text file and I am sure you will understand it's syntaxe when you see it.
This solution is for hardware keyboard only. It doesn't affect the onscreen keyboard.
btw. You can of course copy the one from your old ROM with working keyboard.

How can I read Chinese on HD2?

Hi, I recently got a HD2 and I've realized that it can't display Asian (specifically Chinese) characters. Everything comes up as blocks....I'm just wondering if there's a way to get around this? Is there any way to make it so the HD2 is capable of showing the Chinese characters? Thanks in advance
As far as I know, you need to flash a ROM that handles double-byte characters. My Hong Kong HD2 has an English interface, but also can read/type chinese characters.
I found the official English Asian version of the ROM at HTCPedia here, which is probably what you need.
search for a SUNGLOBE PATCH. then it will display it. even does japenese characters.
good luck!
Look for sunglobe.cab for a quick installation. This is only for viewing chinese characters; japanese characters will not be shown, and you cannot enter chinese characters without the proper input method.
And while unrelated to this matter, here is a manual fix for viewing japanese characters on WM 6.5 I had to make a few days ago:
1. Grab the files meiryo.ttc and meiryob.ttc from your PC's font folder (C:\Windows\Fonts), provided it has them (Vista or newer, I'm not sure about XP)
2. Copy them to your HTC HD2 (or if it doesn't work, copy them somewhere else on your PC then on your HD2)
3. Move them on your HD2 to the \Windows\Fonts folder
4. Use the following registry file (copy-paste in notepad, save as .reg on your device, execute):
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SkipTable]
"Tahoma"="00a5,007e,0391-03c9,2026,2116,221a,25a0-25ff"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink]
"Arial"="\\Windows\\fonts\\meiryo.ttc,Meiryo"
"Times New Roman"="\\Windows\\fonts\\meiryo.ttc,Meiryo"
"Courier New"="\\Windows\\fonts\\meiryo.ttc,Meiryo"
"Segoe Condensed"="\\Windows\\fonts\\meiryo.ttc,Meiryo"
"HelveticaNeue LT 35 Thin"="\\Windows\\fonts\\meiryo.ttc,Meiryo;\\windows\\tahoma.ttf,Tahoma"
"Helvetica Neue OTS"="\\Windows\\fonts\\meiryo.ttc,Meiryo;\\windows\\tahoma.ttf,Tahoma"
"Tahoma"="\\Windows\\fonts\\meiryo.ttc,Meiryo"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontPath]
"FontPath"="\\Windows\\Fonts"
5. Soft-reset your HTC HD2
Then japanese characters should show up everywhere and be linked correctly.
inputting chinese is not what he asked. that is related to ezinput and another ballgame. rhats funny that the sunglobe patch i have CAN do both chinese and japanese. so dont have to confuse the person who requested for it.
does anyone have the link to the sunglobe cab? i tried to find it but couldn't....

Maybe you didn't try hard enough.... a simple search of "sunglobe cab" in Google turned up quite a few results.
This link shows how to display Korean on the phone (I can confirm it works).

I am pretty sure you can substitute the Korean font for Chinese.
thanks i found the sunglobe cab, just waiting to test it out now

I read in the CooTek TouchPal forum about users complaint that the current version 4 has got a problem with Chinese input if the phone is running WM 6.5.
My suggestion is to read my post with regards to Traditional/Simplified Chinese input, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=647307

hi gregwee, so do you have the english version or the chinese version? i was looking at getting one shipped over from hk (im in australia) because i wanted english interface with chinese display/input like yours, so i asked them about that and they told me there is an english only version and a chinese only version and that i had to pick one or the other, but can't get both languages on the same phone...

Thats not true... I have both on my phone and its fine... but I use the ricky Chinese cab thats floating around somewhere... the 21mb version gives me full Chinese reading, sogou gives me a great ime (and i also have plumsip and touchpal but got rid of the A4 as it didnt work so well for me) and with the ricky cab I also get China PRC in my regional settings... before I would only get this with CE Star which I havent put on my phone as the others all do a better more finger friendly job...
