WinMo 5/6 Keyboard in WinMo 6.5 - General Questions and Answers

Is there anyway to use the old keyboard? The new one is a lot larger and doesnt support gesture feature. Those features are very useful (and i use it a lot).
btw i'm using touch2 with default ROM.

Keyboard

Hello all,
I am looking into purchasing a cruise, but before I has wondering if anyone would be able to answer a simple question. Is the typing on the virtual keyboard hard or is it pretty simple. I had an Iphone, is it similar to this type of keyboard? Any help is appreciated. Thanks,
Sergio
Well, standard the Cruise comes with the standard WM6 keyboard (to be used with the stylus). But also with a keyboard from HTC which is already much better to use with fingers.
Next to what comes on the Cruise standard, there are quite some keyboard applications available, to give two examples:
PocketCM (http://www.pocketcm.com)
TouchPal (http://www.cootek.com/)
PocketCM can be customized and quite some skins and keyboard layouts can be found. You can compare this one more to the keyboard similar as seen one the iPhone.
Cootek TouchPal is also a bit like the iPhone keyboard, but uses another method of input (can be compared to T9, but different ). This should enable you to type quite fast.
You have to try them and see if you like them...

t9 Support on WM 6.1 Professional?

I just bought a Samsung Epix. I love it. But coming from WM 6 Classic (Smartphone), I am very much missing the one-handed input speed that t9 allows. I have been searching long and far for a good tool that works well on a square screen, and the best I could come up with - TouchPal - isn't very usable on this device. I don't think the built-in skin works properly at 320 x 320. Or it's just too complicated for my needs. I want something more lightweight - something nearly as simple as xT9 for WM 6 Classic like on my Tornado.
Are there any tools that put a 6.1 Pro device into "t9" mode so I can use the number keys and have full works auto-suggested for me? It's very hard to use a full QWERTY with one hand!
If nothing exists, I'll probably write my own SIP. I know HTC Touch Pad does *not* work with a keyboard device (it just acts bizarre!), so that's a no go.
Help!

Software keyboards

can someone please tell me were to get the htc software keyboards from!!
i put 6.5 on my phone but there are no software keyboards but the windows 1..i need them please please help!
the default HTC keyboard is called "EzInput". Searching for that will yield you better results.
Also check out the new "FingerKeyboard" I find it works alot better then the default one. It is one I use currently.
Another keyboard I found worked very well was Spb Keyboard. It allows finger gestures for backspace and space. Helps alot.
Also PocketCM Keyboard is REALLY sweet if you can get it set up properly. This keyboard allows for "sloppy" typing. Using this keyboard, you don't have to press the keys exactly. It references your taps against a dictionary and is pretty accurate.
I like the look and feel of FingerKeyboard but find the way PocketCM Keyboard works simply amazing. Both keyboards allow skinning. A mix of the two would be amazing.

changing input method on android

Hi,
I'm about to order an Xperia X10, but i really hate using software keyboards (QWERTY).
Is there any way i can install/replace the QWERTY keyboard with a T9-keypad type input method like the one on my HTC Touch HD?
cheers in advance
Better Keyboard has a compact qwerty, and i`m pretty sure a T9 style as well. You might want to check out the leaked WVGA HTC_IME, it is considered by many to be the best soft keyboard available on android.
i found the HTC IME, it looks great. I havent recieved my phone yet, i'm wondering if its as easy to replace the IME on android as it is on Windows Mobile. I.E. will it feel hacked on or "native"? thanks
Changing input methods is supported natively.

[Q] tmo tp2 use 6.1 style keyboard on 6.5

i have a t-mobile touch pro 2, i just upgraded the rom to windows mobile 6.5 (official release from t-mobile's website) the only thing i can't figure out is how to get the old style on screen keyboard back. the tiny qwerty that looks exactly like a full size computer keyboard and has the keys that are about the size of the stylus. that keyboard was the default in windows mobile 6 and i was able to choose it under windows mobile 6.1 but now i can't find it anywhere. when i disable touch flo 3d or sense as they call it now i still have thier 3rd party keyboard app running. (click keyboard icon in center of screen and choose about)("touch input for pocket pc version 2.1 copyright htc"). i don't care if i keep thier app or kill it as long as i get the standard keyboard back. any help is greatly appreciated.
