BOUNTY! HTC Touch Keyboard/Keypad .cab w/Norwegian

Hi
There's a couple different HTC Touch keyboard/keypad .cabs floating about, but so far none with full support for my own language (Norwegian). I am a total newb when it comes to making cabs, but since there's already cabs out there with other linguas I can hardly believe it will be very difficult to make a cab with a few spesific languages.
So, here's deal. I will paypal this awesome bounty of 15$ aka "beer money" (not much but I'm unemployed, broke, my fiancé of 8 years and I just decided we'll go separate ways AND I'm horribly bored ) to the person who can make a .cab that installs the HTC Touch keyboard/keypad + English and Norwegian xt9 (additional languages might be an idea, but moderation please if you're really feeling like making a killer cab, size matters too) and so forth and makes it work on a Kaiser.
I will of course expect this .cab to be offered to the public through these forums.

I hope someone will be so kind as to look into this and become my personal XDA hero. Also I am sorry if I somehow have misunderstood the concept of a bounty, offended anyone or offered a ridicilously low sum of money. I come from a land of ice and snow, my brain is numb and thats my excuse!

I have tried to do fix that, I got a oem package with the norwegian files, even the scandinavian layout is in it.
But I have had no success, im no coder
But I upped the package, and if any guru will look into it, that would help alot

It must be pretty basic stuff, I figured I can make it work myself simply by some creative renaming and overwriting files on a previous install from one of the existing cabs, but its hardly viable when you flash your phone every week

Think I did it
I have managed to make an installable cab with english, danish, norwegian and swedish HTC Keyboard + Keypad layout, and with working xt9/t9 dictionaries. I have installed it on my own HTC Touch (P3450) and tested all four languages with success. When nordic languages are chosen, the keyboard (not keypad) have the nordic letters on them, so the bitmap files should be right as well.

keypad dont display æøå but keyboard is workin perfectly
i dunno how to explain this correctly, but in textwriting æøå works (in keyboard) but when opening them ouside like in.ex programs folder, it show only english qwerty, any suggestions?

I havent found a solution to my problem.
Keyboard has ä (FN + L) and ö (FN + o).
I updated Rom to Schap's WM6 Pro 4.31 ROMs WWE and then ä and ö keys stopped working! help

When i download that will my 16 work ok, but i have usede some cab's before but when my hardware keyboard on my dual write letters wrong when i press 2 i got e not a

Thanks a lot! I'm close to 100% on the keyboard issue.
Ok, this is what I've done:
Installed (in this order)
Scandanavian Keyboard.CAB
-Soft reset
Nordic Keypad Mapping.cab
-Soft reset
XDA_JCEspi2005_Norwegian_Input_Kaiser.cab
-Soft reset
Now the SIP keyboard layout are OK with æøå - working fine. I Had to install XDA_JCEspi2005_Norwegian_Input_Kaiser.cab to get my hardware keyboard right.
This issue remains: Word Completion is still in english. Any fix for that?
Also in Duttys newest ROM, the Touch Keyboard and Touch Keypad are without the Norwegian letters. Any cabs for this?

Try this: Change Curlang to 414 (414 Hex, 1044 Dec). Search up Curlang in youre register (should be in: HKLM/Hardware/Devicemap/Keybd), Soft Reset. DONE! Youre Keyboard is now supporting ÆØÅ and all the oter keys and so on, just as you were use to on Norwegian Shipped/Stok Roms.

I have just flashed Duttys May 22 ROM, and no ÆØÅ on the software keyboard. Any fix for this? (Will also post this in Duttys new thread)

keyboard problem

hello people
if got a little problem white my keyboard on my cruise
i did an update to wm 6.1 nld on the official htc site
everything works good but i think is much to slow
so i downloaded 3LIT3_VIII_Full_NLD and installed it
but now my keyboard doesnt work 100%
i can use the qwerty keyboard without problems
but when i want to use the xt9 keypad then i can only type numbers
character or alphabet doesnt work
can somebody give me an answer please

When you have numbers, than change to a other keyboard and write one or two words. after this, you change the keyboard again and it works.
If have the same problem with gullum Ez 1.5 keyboard. Now i have BJK Keyboard and german language pack and it works fine

SlideIt keyboard

I have been using Swype keyboard for some time and absolutely love it, but have been annoyed about it not having special letters such as used in Scandinavia.
Then Yesterday I fell over a similar keyboard called SlideIt and that works same way as Swype, it just have support for all European languages plus Arabic and Hebrew, plus you can make abbreviations and as a benefit to all those that don't use WM you can also get it for Android and Symbian.
Price is a reasonable 7.99 USD

Yes, I'm Danish.
Yes, as I wrote then it supports all European languages, you download a language pack of your choice, mine was of course Danish and you can just download the Norwegian language pack and in options you choose the language you want as Primary and which one you want as secondary and voila you have all the special characters for Norway.
The only issue is when you have used Swype for some time is that the buttons are a little smaller, but that only takes a day to get used to.

ok, and it works when u flip the phone to the side?
Have to check out the videos on youtube before i decide...
But if anyone else have used this, i would like to know about the feedback..

SlideIT is the no.1 keyboard for my/the HD2. Far superior over Swype IMHO.

Thanks!!! Certainly the new version kicks the hell out of Swype.

Im Norwegian and have been using SwipeIT since the start. Works fine, but the only issue i have is that it does not work in landscape mode. The keyboard turns all white and the letters are not visible.
Think this is a know'n problem since i have heard some other reports on the same.

it is fixed in the new version, works like a charm

It is really a great keyboard! One issue I have is that it does not detect text selection in HTC Messaging application. I don't think the problem is with SlideIT since it works fine on another text application like Pocket Notepad, and also Swype does not detect selected text also... So probably a problem with HTC Messaging app text selection method...
Anyway it is a great input method and works very good!

Double tap selection never works in HTC Messaging. Long press/hold on the word brings up the editing menu. It's stupid, in my view.

Yeah, I know about the long press editing menu. but even if I select a word with the little pointers (or whatever that things are called) SlideIT does not detect it, so I cannot add/edit/remove that word to/from the SlideIT dictionary like the video here: http://www.mobiletextinput.com/Product/SlideIT/Corrections.php

Ah, yes. I guess that is why so many people are disabling HTC Messaging and using the WM default client. It's better in these areas, but it looks like crap.

I agree! The HTC Messaging app has some serious issues that should get fixed. But it also has some nice features and is pretty

Have just installed SlideIT and i think if i give it some time i will use it before the HD2 original one. But, is there some better looking skins for it? Or at least one with slightly bigger buttons?
Have googled it but i can't find anything that points me in any way that says that someone is making or are going make skins for it.
Can it be done?

To do this, create a file containing the new words on a PC and then move the file to the device. The user must open the file and select all of its content. Next, tap on the indicator ‘+’. The bulk update is then performed. Note that the maximum length of the selected text is 1000 characters."
But which kind of file I've to create, where I've to put it, and how can I access to it from the keyboard ?

You can use an application like Pocket Notepad with a txt file...

Why is it so much better than swype? I have 0 issues most of the time with swype unless im trying to do a lot of mixed numbers/letters...

Dictionary needs fixing in Dexter's Froyo ROM

I've been following dexters froyo and recently took the leap and installed v1.3 of his ROM and am very very grateful TO him FoR helping us out with such great features and performance Of Android 2.2.1.
But my qualm is that THE default dictionary (in v 1.3) has some peculiar problems Of capitalizing some unwanted letters and wOrDs As you VSN (can) notice in this post.
This is proving TO BE a great nuisance FoR effectively utilizing my XT 720 productively.
MY PLEA:
Dear Dexter,
Please provide ys (us) with a clean and usable dictionary which would make this a great ROM.

You sure these words arent in your custom dictionary? There is no dictionary file at all with the included multitouch keyboard.

Yes. This is with a clean install Of Dexter's Froyo upgrading from stock 2.1 update 1 from Motorola.
And in THE language options in settings, I've tried both UK and YS (US) language options. Also removed all THE user defined wOrDs from within that menu.

Just try typing THE following wOrDs and let NE (me) know.

I get weird spelling suggestions too but it's the auto-correct that drives me up the wall. It seems to always want to put names in. Like "any" gets auto replaced with "Amy" etc. Really annoying but I don't know what to do about it.

Why not just use a 3rd party keyboard? I prefer SwiftKey.

There is a keyboard setting that says to use names from your contact list as auto correct suggestions, I don't remember if its in the multitouch keyboard or another Ive used though.

Using an alternate
Am using the Android 2.3 keyboard by Steven Lin available on the market. Looks good and is a pleasure to use

I've used like everything from the latest beta of swiftkey to swype to 8pen to gingerbread keyboard, but the multitouch keyboard has the best feeling and spacing to it imo - and I make the least mistakes with it. Wish dictionary would work.

Thanks for the keyboard but must say after 2 days of using it just can't get on when with it when it come to entering two letter words like sorry little and so on. apart from that a good keyboard.

read the manual. You have to write those letters once. To write the word "little" you have to slide as following l-i-t-l-e. The included dictionary will correct it

I did read it and yes that's how I typed it but unless I do words like it very slow it don't pick it up well. Shame cos apart from that the the keyboard is fast. Sorry is one word I played with and had to do it 5 times slowly to get the dictionary to pick it up.

Any chance of adding the "Microphone" feature of your android version to this WM version?
(I know the voice-to-text feature uses a google api/service that they probably wont allow in WM, but it was worth a shot asking anyway

Much better then the default one - give it a shot

To be quite honest, I prefer the default keyboard. For some reason I keep retyping words. Maybe I am just not using it correct.
