plan to upgrade to WM 6.5 but worry about campatiablity issue.
want to back up the rom and just in case I can roll back to original ROM.
any advise from your guys?
When you do the upgrade, the cooker have already ported all the drivers, then all will work.
But remember to do a hard reset after the upgrade

This is probably a stupid question, and I think I already know the answer, but I'm going to ask anyway. I have a G3 Cingular 8125 (Wizard). If I upgrade to a WM6 rom, what will happen if I do a hard reset? Will I revert back to my original rom, or will it reset with the upgraded rom? Also, is there anywhere to download the original Cingular rom in case I ever need it (for customer service or something)? Thanks!
it will reset to ur upgraded rom/
you can download the original cingular ROM at
http://www.htcamerica.net/support/8125/software-downloads.html
So if I upgrade to WM6 and don't like it/whatever, I can go back to origional with that ROM?
yes, you can.
So which ROM is the most stable, straight up WM6 rom? It doesn't have to have a bunch of extra stuff. If I want the extras, I'll install them.
Hi,
I want to upgrade the ROM of my HTC Tytn II to the version NoThrills WM61 NLD V3. I was wondering what happens to the software, which is currently installed on my device, by the phone provider (KPN Netherlands), like EasyMenu, after this upgrade.
I'm not saying that this software is that important to me, but I just want some more information about this.
Thanks for your answers,
Dennieku
everything will get erased as u will need to do a hard reset...u can back stuff up and do various backups to things u want but u will need to search for that
The phone will be wiped clean and the ROM you upgrade to will be the only thing on it. You can use UC to add stuff you want to the new ROM on first boot (provided that the new ROM supports it).

OK, thanks for your answers !!!!
yeah, technically it gets wiped clean, but mine still has some orange software that got installed the first time it started up after i flashed it.
I'm having trouble with my Tilt (it recently started being randomly unresponsive to commands (15-20 second lag some times). Is there going to be a new AT&T 6.1 official ROM with updated drivers? My device has the 8-25-07 ROM date, and before I decide what to do I'm checking on the status of official AT&T releases.
No, as far as I know, there isn't an official one yet. However, a lot of the cooked ROMs on this site will probably fix your problem.
If you can't wait for the official ATT WM6.1 release then you could try their latest WM6.0 release http://www.htc.com/us/FAQ_Detail.aspx?p_id=67&act=sd or as mentioned, could try a cooked ROM.
upgrade ur hardspl and the lags/freezes will be gone.

Looks like he is still using an old Stock ATT Tilt ROM (WM 6.0), so that is not likely the issue.
@ gmfeld. If you have had your Tilt for a quote some time, it is possible that you simply have some junk, or orphaned registry settings, or something slowing your system down.
I would recommend either upgrading your ROM to the latest Stock ATT Tilt ROM (as posted above), or simply doing a Hard Reset to get your current ROM back to its original state. Of course, do a BACKUP before you do anything that involves Hard Reset or Flashing!!!1
I just got my tilt and I think I have a newer official version.
It is
ROM 1.62.502.0
Date 01/17/08
Radio 1.27.14.09
I've noticed it has a bluetooth headset issue (not sure if it is exclusive to mine) where it will end the call, but won't hang up in the phone program.
gmfeld & vanisher,
I would suggest you at least run PPCPimBackup then a hard reset. If you have a little time this weekend you should read through G.W.E.N.I. then flash a nice cooked ROM. Play with your device and post educated questions in the proper threads. You WILL appreciate your device more than you ever did...guaranteed.

The above is a noob success story. I would recommend you go the same ROM route as he did as for starters.
There is no official AT&T WM6.1 ROM yet, but we're getting there.
Check the shipped ROMs section on the wiki to see how new / old your ROM is.

Thanks to all for all the suggestions. I've been running SKTools, so I'm pretty sure I've gotten rid of all the junk and orphaned registry settings, etc.
I agree with all that I need to flash a new ROM, or reflash my original ROM, that's the only thing left to do to clean up my Tilt. Just trying to get some info on when or if a new official AT&T 6.1 ROM is to be released, so I don't go through that process twice. If I knew that its a ways off, I will probably then go with one of the cooked ROMS now.
sry for my last thread but i decided to give Energy ROM 6.5 a shot at it but what im concerned is if i wanna go back to the Stock at&t ROM 6.1 will any mess up?? i already have HardSPL it can anyone help me out? thnx
no, there is no danger in flashing between roms specially after you've got hardSPL. Just recommended that once a new rom is done flashing and you get to the alignment screen, do a hard reset.
Hello there. I am about to buy HTC Touch Pro 2 from Verizon. And i really like the new WM 6.5.1 with Leo. But my question is do i always do hard reset before i even install a new ROM? And if i backed up my original ROM, do i install it the same way as i am installing a new cooked ROM? THanks.

No necessary to hard reset before installing new ROM, just be sure to have a backup of your personal data.
More or less is the same process.
Have a deep read to this section that is for CDMA TP2

Good luck,
What's more important is that you hard reset AFTER you install a new ROM.
Also not necessary, unless the ROM itslef performs a hard reset
