System panel is also a good app to monitor CPU usage.

[Q] Looking for an app "screendimmer"

Hi, Im using Android (Note 2) and looking for an app called Screendimmer from IOS. Here is the youtube about how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jB4VWhZtU5c
I use this for whatsapp. While Im chatting and waiting for a reply, the phone usually turn off and I have to press the power button to wake it up. My friend who is using Iphone showed me that he installed Screendimmer on Cydia and solved all the problems above.
I tried to use "tasker" together with "screen filter" but I failed to do that. So is there any app in Android that has the same function like ScreenDimmer?
Any helps.
Thanks

It'd be great if this was available for Android too.
Posting in app development forum will get better results maybe?

Thanks. However, both apps do not meet my needs. They just provide the ability to adjust the screen brightness.

Yes I also tried that app but it is not what I need. The main reason that I am finding this app is that I dont need to press the power button everytimes I am waiting an message/whatsapp/viber/facebook. The screen will automatically dim (it does not like the screen time out that auto lock the screen after x seconds) and it will come light when I touch the screen. It can save battery (by dimming the screen at the lowest brightness...nearly black) and the power button also.
waiting for some developers who can build an app like this :victory:
P/S: I have an idea that we can use Tasker and Screen Filter, and set a loop with a condition that when a specific app is open (whatsapp for example), if in 10 seconds, there is no touch on screen (I left the phone there for 10seconds) it will activate Screen Filter (that set at the lowest brightness) to dim the screen (not lock it); then when the phone receives touch, Screen Filter will be disable. In that 10seconds, if there is touch occured, it will recount another 10seconds again. I am not a IT guy so I can not do it myself. Can anyone try this?
up waiting for any idea
It seems that there is no developer interested in this app
I have emailed to the developer of the IOS app but still received nothing.

[APP][4.0+] Eye Relax

EyeRelax is a quick and easy way to keep your eyes healthy. Taking a break every so often while using your phone is important and can help prevent eye strain, and EyeRelax lets you do just that. Specify how long you want your breaks to be, and how far apart they are, hit the start button, and EyeRelax will give you a heads up when it's time to take a break. If you want to take an early break, just shut off your screen and it will be automatically recognized by EyeRelax. A progress bar runs discreetly in your notifications for a convenient way to check how long you have. EyeRelax runs quietly in the background, allowing you to get your work done until it's time to rest your eyes.

This is pretty awesome. Do you have anything you plan to add to it?
Now THAT'S what i call useful!
Good app! Now I know when I need to rest my eyes
I found this app actually very useful when I am on my phone for hours on end less than 4 inches away from my eyes. Great notification system. 1+
Do you wanna translate your app to many languages?

4 inches? I hope that this is a typo xD
I couldn't even focus the image at this distance.
Sounds useful! Is there any noticeable battery drain?
Someone needs to create an app like this for Xposed!
Looks great! How does it warn you when you're near the 30 minute mark? Will it be possible to play a sound when the timer is at 30 minutes / just before it goes off?
Edit: It didn't load the images correctly for me, so now i see that there will be a popup window.

What do you mean? If by xposed you meant the Xposed framework this app doesn't need xposed to work. Is there a feature that you want needing xposed?

The app will vibrate and post a notification 30 seconds before break and show the dialog when it's time for a break.
I've a suggestion for a future build... A "computer" option, where the timer can run in the background, and then give a notification after 30 minutes, then again after the 30-second break. (Or whatever time values one might change it to). For those of us that spend lengthy amounts of time staring at a large computer screen.
This app has potential, keep up the good work.
looks good, thanks for sharing
2.3.6
Is it available for android 2.3.6??
SGY rooted

This, I actually thought I would want it for this then arrived to see it was for using mobile device. Handy for many but myself I don't spend that much continuous time staring at phone, usually gets broken up with breaks cause I am mobile while using it thus forced breaks. Computer is a problem for long stretches no breaks here though.
Now thats very useful app. :good:

App not closing when lock screen

I only have allowed whatsapp, weather, and wunderlist app to run when screen is locked and i noticed for example when i run Instagram and i lock my screen the app still running for hours.....
The only way to close apps not allowed to run is to clean all apps under the "recent apps menu".
This does not happen in p9 lite for example, without need to clean the recent apps tab, when I turned off the screen all the apps not allowed closed completely
Is this a bug or its normal?
use greenify could be a wake lock
When you close an app, it's important to use the back button rather than the home button.
go developers settings and change background process to minimum might help you out to get less apps running into the background
but just for info . its healthy to keep apps running in background even if it taking ram it will stabilize your multitasking ! .
GD Luck .

I'm having the same problem. It's a shame that so many members chimed in with no solution but instead tell you that having apps running in the background is best. The fact is, this is a feature that can be configured on the Honor 8 but it currently isn't working whereas it used to work. I don't want to keep apps like browser, games, moviepass, or apps that I don't care about notifications anyway such as Snapchat. All I want is to just lock my phone and have comfort knowing that all the apps I wanted closed will be closed.
So the question remains, has anyone found a solution for this? Is this just a problem with conflicting settings configurations? If you don't have a solution, please don't respond.

Emulate missing notify LED?

Anyone a tip for a good app to emulate a notify LED? Like a flashing dot or so?

you can try this for flashing dot...( don't expect it will serve the purpose of an actual LED notification not sure why google got rid of it... meh )
free version - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ledblinker
paid version - if you think the free version gives you the comfort then... mostly you can add more apps to be included in notification

I don't get this as well! Thx for the hint. Will have a look.
It works alright, but coming out of the notification screen can be a bit glitchy. Also, after a few seconds the screen dims and the notification light can be a little hard to see.
Also I find the payed version quite expensive - but overall it seems to be what I was looking for.

Apps like these keep your phone awake and drain the battery. Just use the Pixel Pulse app in the mods and themes sub forum.

If you use AOD it is awake. This app is using that. If you turned AOD then yes, battery. I am most disappointed by glitches when I try to open the phone.

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing. The AOD function is not the same as what most 3rd party apps use to keep the phone awake.
Pixel pulse, is the way to go, and the customized colors makes it even better at 2 AM work email notifications, so i know wtf i need to fix in the morning hahahaha
