Still setting everything up and looked at Jetcet to set up my network printer. Unfortunately, I see the drivers are very limited and there are none for my Dell printer. Is there anything similar that would work with a Dell printer on the network?
I have not tried this myself, so bear with me.
I used to have Dell printer myself, and while looking for cheaper Non-OEM ink, someone mentioned to me that Lexmark manufactures Dell printer range and their ink etc usually works with Dell.
I suggest you try and find a like-for-like Lexmark printer driver; I know its not definitive, but worth trying.
Good luck and let us know how you get on ...
Unfortunately, they only mention some Canon, Epson and HP printers.

Did you try installing and using each of these drivers with your DELL printer ?
Unfortunately, you may not be able to use your printer if the default drivers do not work!
Hi, I have a Dell Laser Color MFP
and I put the HP Laser Color MFP driver and it worked great, try diffrent drivers for your printer, maybe one will work right with your printer
cheers

Similar problem
Your problem is similar with mine. I have a Lexmark wireless printer. Unfortunately this jetcet software does not support Lexmark. I really need a software for printing or a driver update for jetcet.

If you email the company and request that they add your printer drivers, they may do so in the next revision.

I just did a search on 4shared and found it there

the latest is version v5.2.1059 i guess !!!
I forgot to say it works with HD2
JETCET5_PPC_v5.0.904.5.131.CAB
I am not sure, dont use, dont have IE6. I use Opera 10 and that works. I guess that version presented by skoogee is satisfatory, if not, let me know..
Does no one, I don't believe it, can manage to get the Jetcet version from an HD2??!??!
Note that version is not 5.2 but 5.4.something...
Is that so hard to help anyone on this???
I found this here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5430440&postcount=3

Don't know if it's the real deal, due to rapidshare...
Tried to install that version but in the end of the instalation said unsuccessful

This will work I use it myself on my Leo
The actual app made for the HD2 is 5.4.1187
The cab was pulled by Dutty.
works a treat... nice one...
anyone know if there is a newer version than that 5.4 one which may have been released on a newer ROM.

Just kidding. What's wrong with 5.4.x? It's a fairly basic though well done, especially compared to the extremely stoopid HP iPrint. Well, iPrint is not THAT bad, but does suffer from one overwhelming issue: It uses every graphic file, from every folder on the device by default, and I'm not even sure there is a way to select a particular path. I didn't get that far, since it brought my HD2 to s crawl, reading in all those photos. If they just fixed "File and Folder Selection", such a basic thing, they would actually have something there.
Now that I think about it, I can see one REALLY good reason for wanter a new release... support of new printer models, "DOH!"
Which leads to a question (doesn't everything?) I have an Epson Artisan 810 printer, an all-in-one thing, but of course its not listed in setup. I just tried other models until I got a successful test page. This is VERY hit and miss (more miss that hit, LOL) Anyone know how to either add support for Artisan line, or which "Stylus" or Stylus Photo etc., would best emulate the Artisan 810?
I don't need it to do anything other than print photo's. In fact, that's all I want to be able to do, text is not important.
Any thoughts on this?
@smartassphone,
new printer model support is exactly what i am hoping for. Specifically Canon MF4xxx series. I tried each model offered by jetcet, one by one, and none worked.

Ugh. Yes, starting to see that is indeed the issue, although, my experience has been that you can usually achieve some basic level of printing, if only you can find a base emulation mode for the printer in question.
So far, I HAVE been lucky enough to at least get the Test Print page to spit out okay (but printer did not see the job as "finished" so I am still in that trial mode - I doubt I would bother to try EVERY Epson model, there must be 60 or more listed, but I am trying a few from each "family" of models.
DO not be afraid to step outside your brand, at least into the HP Models, I got this to work a long time ago by using a basic HP driver selection (ahh, for the days when MOST consumer printers did some level of HP emulation.
I will check back and provide a link if I find any newer printer support, in either a new JetCet or whatever.
Have you been successful in looking for a listed Epson-model that works for your artisan? I do have the german version of this printer and have tried some of the Epson printers listed in the jetcet-program ... I got results - but very, very bad ones
Epson Artison 810 Equivalent Driver
I setup JETCET using an EPSON Sylus R380 driver for my Epson Artison 810. Test Print worked well. So far, so good.

I'm looking at buying a wireless print server for my HP Colour LaserJet 1600 (USB).
Does anyone know if the Xoom can use HP Laserjet printers? They generally are happy running of generic drivers, so hopefully MotoPrint will use it?

I don't know if there are going to bemany people who are willing to crack open their TPs to test this. I would also doubt that there are going to be any android drivers since that would require that the developers have a TP with this installed. Very unlikely.
Thanks for this fox!! I was always wanting to see about adding a radio card to the TP. I knew the difference between the cell version and regular version of the TP had to be a simple module connected either via ribbon, coaxial, or both. Some simple empty space ready for a radio card to be plugged into it. I guess I was partially right. :3
I really will consider doing this. Although I am loyal to T-Mobile USA and it doesn't seem to support this Going to check out some disassembly videos and see what I'm up against. But it would be nice to have a cell-capable TP.
Bookmark saved, thanks again!
What about this one?
Ericsson F3307
Seems to be the same one used in epad, so I'm guess there are drivers for it; so I'm guessing it can be used on android, but for webos it'd need porting - maybe from the android version or the linux version (don't know what the dependencies are).
Or maybe others too.

I just want to save someone from damaging their TouchPad doing this mod. The modem will not work on a WiFi model since their boards are different. The 4G model has the connection for the AT&T modem whereas the WiFi model doesn't have the connection present. I've learnt this through swapping parts out for servicing my TouchPad 4G on a mule TouchPad WiFi.
Hello
I just orderd a Motorola Xoom 32GB 3G for 220€ and I was wondering if Motorola Xoom will work fine to complement for studies in example universety? What app's is then required that works fine for Xoom+studies? I understand that the Ipad is superior when it comes to handy apps for studies is there something likely for Xoom or should I cancel the order? Does any bluetooth keyboard+mouse work or is it only a few?
Let me hear your thoughts..
The Motorola BT keyboard and mouse work great, and I know that a number of others also do. There are lots of writing/note taking apps as well as apps that allow you to read and mark-up pdfs, etc.
It has a good wifi connection ability, and is very portable, as you know. You should update it to ICS as soon as possible.
a favorite or two
just quick... i am not currently a student but i am a teacher. i use Springpad a lot to take notes on projects and meetings and such. it is an essential for me. after that the essentials are thumbpad and an office program. I just saw a thread that looked like it would review the office apps. the only reason the ipad. is better is it got to the market first, it isn't actually better.

I'm using the Bluetooth Keyboard case and love it along with the logitech bluetooth mouse. But any bluetooth mouse will work.
And there are various programs you can use to do that. I like Quickoffice Pro personally.

Is Quickoffice Pro compatible with Microsoft's Word? If so then I dont thing i'll never find a greater laptop/netbook for the price of this Xoom with dualcore, camera etc.
Also is it neccesary to be a wirless bluetooth keyboard? regular wirless keyboard with usb-stick that goes in the usb-port in pc for example doesn't work in xoom?
Radio (RF) does it work with xoom?

Yeah Quickoffice pro is compatible, the only issue is that you might have to go back to word to do some final formatting (like the headers and such). Other than that it works great. I have all my schoolwork synced with Dropbox so I can edit it on the go with Quickoffice. It has built in support for Dropbox.
If you want to use a usb device you're going to have to order an micro-usb to usb OTG adapter. It doesn't have a full size usb port, which I'm sure you know.
I do not believe that radio works on the xoom...
My Xoom is great for what I do at school. I've had it for a semester so far, and I must say it's fantastic to just have to carry this around rather than a backpack full of stuff. With the Kindle app I can download most of my textbooks, and you can highlight and bookmark pages right in the app. Plus with the apps that support office documents (QuickOffice, DocumentstoGo, ThinkFree, and others) you can edit and even print (with compatible printers) papers and stuff. It's a great tool. I plan on buying a logitech keyboard/stand for mine for when I go back to school, that way it's easier to take notes in class.

I'll be able to test this soon. I've ordered an OTG cable from Amazon that should be here any day. I also have a couple of wireless devices so I'll let you know when I get it in.
One thing to be aware of is the increasing amount of homework that is done online now. You need very specific OS/software requirements to be able to do these online assignments. If the only computer you have is a xoom you will have to borrow a roommates PC or use a computer lab to do all your homework. Depending on your major there may also be software tools that you can only use on a PC. So just be prepared for that.

I currently use my Xoom for all of my online homework. The only issue it's given me is no keyboard pops up when in flash based content. But other than that it had been compatible with everything so far.
I do see where you're coming from as far as actual software goes. Just wanted to give a heads up saying that it works well for everything else.

I wasn't as fortunate. Every online homework program was different so I think it just comes down to luck. One application required me to open specific ports for communication, another only ran in explorer, ect. Just a real PITA. But like I said there is always a computer lab or a roommate where you can find a PC if you need one. If you live on campus its not an issue to get to a computer lab. I always lived off campus and did homework late at night after lab hours so I had a netbook that was portable and had 9 hours of battery, plus guaranteed compatibility with any required program. I was taking mostly science courses and document collaboration was necessary so using a tablet to make edits to a document would have been doable but not ideal. PowerPoint presentation would have been impossible on a tablet given the complex nature of the presentations. Like I say you just have to evaluate your specific needs.
I use my Xoom for graduate school class to take notes and for presentations at work. A cheap laptop is sometimes a better deal. I bought mine at launch and for that price it was a waste of money but if you can get one for less than 250 USD, it isn't a bad deal for that use.
Even with Office Suite Pro (I've also tried all the others,) the office like apps are lacking. You still need the desktop version of Word to do real work with it. It still loses some page formatting and references aren't robust enough yet. OneNote just doesn't seem to be happening. There is a program out there that sort of does it but we really need the attention that Microsoft gave iOS for the iPhone and iPad versions. The office emulators are worth waiting until Amazon is offering them for free. The development teams should charge more for the apps but integrate more features. It's cheap now, but it's hard to justify $10 when you have to go to the desktop anyway. You could have saved your money, used a free text editor and put the document on a desktop to finalize. Editing office docs is convenient but you still run the risk of losing things.
It still isn't that good for PowerPoint presentations. If you convert your slide show to PDF you get along a little better. The Xoom's screen is a lot nicer than what you'll be getting out of most projectors so you have to be careful. Plugging in through HDMI will not save it. This isn't the fault of the Xoom it's just what happens when you use cheap projectors. It's just more noticeable when you have nice visuals in your hands yet on the big screen it's a washed out mess for hundreds of people to see.
Just remember that this is a cheap stop gap measure until the technology catches up. If lightweight mobility in a device that you can use to organize your teaching work is the biggest priority, this isn't a bad option but if you really need the features and not a toy, you're better off with a cheap HP laptop. It can do everything you need even though it's a boat anchor.

I use a program called PrinterShare Premium to print to a Dell 1250c printer, previously I used the same software with a Samsung CLP-300 colour laser - this didn't work with the Samsung print driver. PrinterShare has worked well for me across several Android devices although with the above two printers it does require the use of a host PC controlling the printer and to control the inbound print processor. Google print also provide a free cloud-based service that works via the Chrome browser on the PC, although I personally found this to be a bit unreliable so I opted for the Market purchase of PrinterShare as I need a reliable printing option for business use. PrinterShare is available as trial option from the Market.
Alternatively, many low-cost printers now include wireless printing as standard, so if your printer's a bit old and you don't print too much, then this might be another option.
For info: I have no affiliation or association with the developers of PrinterShare, mine is an impartial opinion from a satisfied user.
~Mike
Edit: I see on the Play Store a lot more printer manufacturers have their own clients for Android, so it might be worth having a look there first.
A number of current HP printers are accessible with HP's own app in Google Play. I also recall seeing something in Samsung's app store that allows printing to HP and Epson printers.
Thanks for the help. I'll check out the play store. If the apps doesnt work too good i might give printershare a try.
Again, thanks!!
