TouchMark is just a quick application I wrote when I got my HD2 to get an objective idea of how accurate I was with the capacitive screen, compared to finger and stylus use on my older devices. I figured today I might as well release it to the general population, since there are so many petty arguements about sensitivity, with little to no hard data. Hopefully this wil help. This should run on any VGA/WVGA device (not sure about QVGA) with .net3.5 installed.
So what can it do? This application will run you through several test clicks of your screen, and your touch performance will be ananlysed and reported, giving you an idea of how accurate you are with your current device+stylus/finger+hand combination. You can use it to compare your personal performance between devices, or check how much accuracy you lose moving from stylus to finger control.
It can also be useful for checking if you are even clicking where you think you are clicking. What you think is a bad interface might just be you actually clicking a bit to the left of where you think you're clicking. This will show up clearly in the visual analysis of your clicks, which is available after benchmarking.
Yes, it's rough around the edges, but it was never designed to be released to the public, all I did really was slap a help file in there. In the unlikely event of major success, I may change that.
Screenshots:
Lower scores are better, as explained in the in-application help.
Version History
- 0.2 - Added application icon (thanks AF241), promoted analysis menu item, fixed render bug in analysis.
- 0.1 - First release. Private test application + added helpfile.
Q: So this gives me a number that tells me how good my touchscreen is?
A: NO! This gives you an indication of how good the interface between three items is. (1) The touchscreen on your device, (2) your hand, and (3) your pointing device.
Q: Do the numbers mean anything?
A: Other than that smaller numbers are better, no. Like all 'good' benchmarking tools, the numbers have no inherent absolute meaning.
Q: I need the TouchMark to do [X] and [Y]!
A: First off, that's not a question, secondly, oh well, never mind. Perhaps if you ask nicely, others agree, AND I feel it would be worth adding, it might be added.
Brilliant idea.
Pretty cool. I try it and it does what it does. My finger arent' very accurate! lol
This is great. Did it a few times and finger accuracy is now much improved! Thank you
Very nice! Thanks!
I can see this coming very handy when checking that the display is properly calibrated (apart from the ever-so-fun fooling around, of course ).
I managed to get about 7000 once, but in most runs I get about 9000 (with my index finger & HD2).
This is really useful, thanks!
I managed to get mine down to about 3000 after calibration. But that was just with my finger. When I then tried to type with my thumbs it was way off.
I have settled for calibrating the top points with my fingers and the bottom points with my thumbs. This gives around 6000 on your program but a better all round accuracy.
Heh, I can't get better than 18,000 on my HD2 (fingers only!) but I never seem to have any trouble clicking links or typing. How the hell you guys get it so low?
*EDIT* ok, did an alignment and just got 1,434!!!

My best "finger score" so far on the HD2 is just below 1500 I seem to be around the 3000 mark most of the time. I hold the phone in my left hand and use my right middle finger (at a weird angle because of my very long nails) never been able to use thumbs on any phone anyway due to the talons getting in the way lol
I got 1323... using stylus though Gonna try finger aswell...
Glad to see it seems to be going down well.
The interesting thing I found was that although I'm pretty precise with my finger (actually not that much less precise than on my old Touch Pro with a stylus), when using my thumb on the move, I was clicking way way to the bottom left of where I *thought* I was clicking (as in, barely even on the X most the time).
Usability on the go, especially with the keyboard, shot right up after seeing that and teaching myself to use my thumb properly. Hopefully others find similar benefits.
Using both thumbs I managed to get about 9000. Before the screen calibration it was 29000 . Here's a icon if anyone wants to use.
I got 1346 with my index finger on the hd2 after calibration
Lol, 227 TouchMarks on my Diamond2, using stylus
Nice tool thanks for sharing. Before calibration (with stylus), I was at almost 32000 touchmarks, and now I'm at ~1600 touchmarks. And my biggest intentional score, if anyone's interested, is 8,950,088 touchmarks

Great icon thanks, added to the application.
would it be possible for the application itself to calibrate the device based on the touches?
and i have one more idea - could the application calculate this:
i would call it "touchmarks if calibrated" or something like that. it would calculate the touchmarks placeing the X in the average of the pressed points.
ideally it would do both:
calibrate and show you the number of touchmarks before and after calibration.
other than that, thanks for the great app !
Hi Ray, and thank you for this nice piece of software.
I just installed it on Kaiser, and it works OK on QVGA, but fonts are too small to read. If you can do something about that it would be nice. Also if I may suggest, it would be useful to divide analysis screen in 12 or more squares and show graphic results for each part of screen, since we err differently in different regions.
A bit OT. I get a lot of 'dragging' when i try just to click, but WM thinks I am sliding my finger. Is it possible to change sensitivity on dragging? There are some settings for touch screen sensitivity in Advanced Config, but I don't know what they do.

Not really on the calibration point, especially since the app isn't really about the screen, it's about you. I wrote it when I got my Leo to see what messages I was sending to the screen.
I found out I was actually touching the screen below where I thought I was when using my thumb. I was fine with my index finger, clicking pretty much where I intended to. There's no way to instruct the screen that "if I'm using my thumb, interpret the cursor as being a bit up and to the right of where I'm pressing", especially since it can't possibly know what finger I'm pressing the screen with!
The lesson learned there is for the person, not the device. My index finger remains a godly input device, but my thumb has improved enormously. The phone saw nothing other than that sometimes I was good, sometimes I was bad.
As for the "if you had your screen calibrated to the average point" idea, I like the idea. There are certainly pros and cons, and I'll think about it at a later date.
Glad you found it useful.

==========================
OK the 5 row keyboard is REALLY worth it. Was doing a comparision of a lot of HTC product in a side by side with a few clients on Fri. The 5 row keyboard was the most wanted feature by all those who type seriously for meeting notes etc. The ability to produce numbers with out having to ALT - won this hands down for a few who ordered there and then.
Backlighting on keyboard - good and pretty even considering it looks like a point source is used to produce it. Numbers 5/6 are slightly brighter - the rest - evenly illuminated.
Battery life - I wish to clarify/confess to using the SaveBattery HTC Juno cab in creating the battery life figures I quoted earlier in the 24 hour review. I never even waited to find out how I did before.
I've been tweaking today with - Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v3.1.cab. Useful fine tuning tool.
Biggest annoyance - backlight going out 5 secs into a call. Real pain if you need to enter keys after call connects. There is a regitry tweak in the tweaks thread I'm going to try.

======================
Coming from my TYTNII yesterday
Based in part on answering other comments and my own observations......
Criteria - it has to earn a living - it has to be a miniature office on the move 24 x 7 x 365. TYTNII worn out after 14 months - replacement needed.
WARM - yes - a lot of electronics packed in a small package to make space for the large (relatively) 1340mAh battery.
Battery life - less than my TYTNII but not dangerously so in a 07:30 - 18:00 business day, lot of Direct Push, long calls, Bluetooth all day, WiFi OFF, Screen brightness higher than default, 4Gb SD card in standard power management, 10 minute top offs in the car when driving. Finished at 30% instead of my more normal 40%.
Stylus - nice magnetic "snick" as it is sucked into the holder. You would have to work hard to lose it. "Soft" feel top - nice.
JETCET printer configuration tool - Wow! If you are Canon or HP there seems to be a good range of drivers. It WORKS too if you know how to set up printing on a network.
Screen - STUNNING with the higher resolution. Looks Cleartype without the cleartype turned on (which only makes it better).
Bluetoothed to the car (BMW I-Drive setup) with no problems and the address book synched to car FASTER than TYTNII. Sound quality slightly poorer than TYTNII but still very acceptable and streets ahead of the old i-Mate K-JAM.
Touchflo - very nice, very cute, very hard on my big stubby fingers and disabled. Probably helps the battery life. I would prefer HTC Home but available CABS don't work on the screen resolution (well they work but look too small!). Anyone working on one?
MS Voice Command - I'm working the threads and registry hacks on this. There is an error on install which I'm trying to figure. (edit) - Just discovered it is non fatal. VC works fine to make calls - I don't care about the rest. Used the extracted 1.6.19209 CAB you can find on RapidShare (end edit). Hah! For the first time EVER with VC when I asked "What is the time" it told me the time - instead of the date!!!!
Only one assignable button folks. Button 1 (HOLD). Rest are presumably used to create the various actions on the zoom and shrink touches on the buttons and cannot be made available.
YouTube - well get hooked to WiFi first!! It will do it over Edge but only really in Low Quality mode. HQ mode (if availble) is a matching 640x480 and looks super.
Ripped 320x240 pixel DVD's in WMV rescale to the screen and look great.
Teeter game - addictive!
It is small, slightly heavy and smacks of quality. Build Quality is good. A good "heft" in the hand and good in the landscape belt clip (T-Mobile accessory for the Wing). Already got a lot of questions from those who noticed - "New Phone?" followed by "Nice" .
Overall - The extra horsepower and RAM, turn off the "fluff" and this is what the TYTNII didn't QUITE manage.
Build 19965.1.2.3
ROM 1.90.401.1 WWE
ROM Date 8/1/08 (US)

thanks for the review! i have a question.. the TyTN II is too big for me to slide out the keyboard and with one thumb reach the other side of the key board.. basically one handed typing.. how does the Touch Pro fit?
thanks!
Great review and I see you are in the US so I do have a question. How does the GPS work? Does the GPS updater work properly and does the A-GPS help with obtaining a lock? Just wondering how fast the unlocked version connects in the US right out of the box or if it requires tweaks to make it lock faster. Also, how long does it take to load a youtube on edge. I already know it degrades the quality like the iphone but I would still like to know how fast does it take and if it can stream on edge even with the lower quality. Thanks.

Well the form factor is smaller than TYTNII so my big (ex)sailor hands can push it open and single thumb type OK. Sitting in palm of hand, fingers curled around screen edge and keyboard nearest you. 5 row keyboard makes for smaller keys though - it is a good feel but I wouldn't want to do a lot of single thumb typing - but you can. Guess it depends on your hands!! But you are going to LOVE the 5 row keyboard - no messing around to get numbers anymore. This is already a HUGE plus for entering IP addressing etc.

GPS - Yep this is the UK/EU unit through Expansys/Mobileplanet. GPS lock time in my part of the world (USA New England) is 30 secs after running HTC QuickkGPS to get satelitte updates. Comparable to TYTNII and tested with GoogleMaps "Use GPS" feature.
YouTube - Well - first understand that a lot of YouTube videos are available in Standard Quality and High Quality. I'm not 100% sure - but standard looks like HEAVILY compressed 320x240 or REALLY heavily compressed 640 x 480. High Quality is pretty much low compressed 640 x 480.
The player in the phone has an option to autoselect or force High Quality streaming.
In High Quality on Edge it takes about 5 mins to get a 10 min video (from the few I have tested). There is a clear "loading" icon that is a circle running around with a % indicator in the middle. When enough of the video is in - it gets to 100% and will start playing. 100% does NOT mean the whole video - just enough buffered to get going. If you view ahead of available data then it stops playing and starts buffering again. Just like on a PC with slow Internet. There is no permanent cache to replay a video from. Close and reopen and you have to start again - but that is just like YouTube on a PC - I'm sure it is designed to stop you "acquiring" videos! While I am sure someone out of sheer intellectual interest will figure a workaround. It is WAY easier on a PC with capture tools and a ton of horsepower.
Let's put it this way - YouTube in a neat extra. Go back to MY personal criteria stated at the start of my original review and it is not really important!
But that Teeter game....... Now there is a real time waster. I suspect as much as BubbleBreaker........
Firstly, I've been following the leaks so far, and so I don't want to hear, oh there won't be a multitouch. The bottom line is, we don't know what the final product will be.
Secondly, it goes without saying, that I support any efforts by MS to incorporate capacitative screens. Currently, there are two known and upcoming solutions to replace the stylus, one an RF pen (a stylus that should work with cap. screens- google it!) and a solution that MS has recently invested in, called something like N-trig.
The purpose of this thread is to discuss, and make content those who are against multitouch if it comes to 6.5, or for that matter, 7.
Now, the main argument against multitouch, is that it is against single-handed usage. Here I will list why that is a moot/null/void argument:
- Using the iPhone as an example firstly (and pretty much throughout but it is not due to me having a liking for it, rather I hate it, but I hope to convey a more profound message), though there is argument over the pinch gesture in Safari (their internet browser), the double-tap to zoom is still available. So, the double-tap that we are used to in Opera, is also in Safari. So one can have it both ways. So, to sum up this point, devs would need to make sure that their programs are made for single handed usage, but that multitouch offers a different (and as some would argue, more enhanced) method of using the phone. So single-handed usage is still there, basically.
- Some games, require pressing of more than one button simultaneously. Now if buttons A, B and C are onscreen and are only viable via touch entry, then we're screwed once again as only one given button can be pressed at one time. If you're a gamer, you will know how big a limitation this is to your phone. It hurts in so many scenarios. If you're not into games, or your games are limited to puzzles: trust me, this is a biggie!
- A similar and relevant point; phones like Touch HD bear the brunt of lacking multitouch, as they don't even have a D-pad for games. So all buttons onscreen (D-pad inclusive) can only be pressed one-at-a-time!
- Whether you like this app or not, it demonstrates that some apps simply cannot do without multitouch. Why put limitations? If you want to argue it is against single-touch usage, then press one button at a time !
- Another app that is somewhat heartwarming . I've used it on an acquaintance's iPhone, and it's nice to swirl two of your fingers through the pond making multiple ripples. Again, just use single touch if you're against double ripples .
- Text entry for those of us that type at lightning speed would be hindered where we are required to press one button right next to the next one in quick succession. Why put this limitation?
- I will add more here onwards if something comes to mind. Maybe. Maybe not.
So all in all, single handed usage can still be there, and MS can enforce this in their SkyStore (app store equivalent), though granted it could be difficult. But most developers would do this, as most do what their customers want, not what I, the dev want.
LASTLY, this is not a WM bashing thread if you think like that, so stop hating! This is for improvements only!
Just to let you know...it's not all M$'s fault..Mostly HTC and the companys that make the devices. Just look at the omnia. It has a capactive touchscreen.
Good Points, and just because WM6.5 has Mutlitouch available doesn't mean devs or phone builders would HAVE to use it.
I'm a big fan of "many options."
Side Note: Moved to General Discussion.

Is this truly true ? If so, why doesn't Samsung advertise it as much? Also, doesn't the small buttons become difficult to use?

This is precisely my point! The only little niggle is that devs should make sure that productivity tools allow single handed usage as well. One way would be to enforce this through the SkyStore. Another would be to let the magic happen itself.
I really want to see what people will say against my strong defence of multitouch. Come on people!
It will raise the cost of the devices (both due to the much more expensive screen AND the need for a special, larger stylus) and create a further layer of incompatibility between WM devices (those with multi-touch and those without).

Which is why everyone should have to buy a new device when Windows Mobile 7 is released.
Seems people are forgeting WM6.5 is more like Vista, a stop gap before the better OS ie Windows 7
Why WM6.5 does not have mltitouch ?
I will try to answer this question.
The big hardware manifacturers are in the begining of producin multitouch capable phones (you all know that you need multitouch capable digitizer in order to be able to use multitouch). Microsoft communicated with manifacturers and they were not ready with such devices, which is the reason multitouch to be reserved for windows mobile 7.

Totally agree
I see no real benefit in multi-touch on small screen. granted, in games with on devices with minimal input buttons, but until device manufactures actually start releasing 3D drivers for the devices the point about gaming isn't of much substance because there will only be mediocre games.
I don't know what the masses want but I see little benefit in it on screens that one can stretch the thumb from bottom left of the device and reach the top right.
I rather draw a counter clockwise circle to zoom and a clockwise to zoom out.
the real benefit is in the screen response, not the multi-touch. aside from gaming, tell me what other real benefit is there? because I don't see it.

I think this depends on the sip you're using and have no reliance on multi-touch capabilities. I see myself as a very fast typist and this is thanks to the sip I'm using.
do this, ask your friend to do this with his iPhone: press 2 keys at the same time while typing the word "Quilts", so your friend would type it like this "Qu" then "il" then "ts" and tell us what's the result. I am pretty curious as to what the results will be. I would ask my girl to do it but she's at work now.
I thought I would mention the release of a new application called DynaInk. It works with both stylus and finger and allows you to draw on a blank canvas or over a file or photo. Has undo and different pen types and colours. You can save and email your drawings as well.

First, posting warez is not allowed. Second, if you look at my details (top left of post) there are stars, I support the forum.
Having tried other inking/drawing/note taking apps, they don't seem to do well with the capacitive screen so you end up with wobbly inaccurate lines.
Is this one better...I will give it a try, but would also value your opinion

Pleased you brought this here Nighthawk..... I was just about to do it myself.
Yes, it's a great little New Application.
Very clean and uncluttered.
Loves
1. Background Import:-
I rather like the idea you can import either as a Background or a File a picture.
What is interesting in the Background selection is you can select Camera. Next step take a Photo and it's automatically imported into DynaInk.
2. Multiple Undo's:-
This is brilliant and is a god send of a time saver.
3. Dynamic Brush Selection:-
Gives the Brush & Quill a natural drawing ability.
Dislikes
1. Removing unwanted ink strokes:-
If you draw to the edge (or near) of the screen and then select Undo then undo your strokes, after the Undo window disappears instead of clearing away all the ink strokes selected it leaves the ink on screen that was previously shown outside of the Undo window.
In other words it clears away any strokes within the Undo window but leaves the ones outside on the screen.
2. Finger Painting
It works but it's a bit hit & miss.
Maybe a Capacitive Stylus will help with this.
Queries
1. Portrait/Landscape
According to the Manual it states the program works in either Portrait or Landscape.
I can't find anywhere in how to make the program change to Landscape?
Improvements
1. Zoom Feature
It would be great if we had an option to zoom in on the work.
This would certainly help with the finger painting in help getting the finger in the right place.
Notes:
1. Well, we have 7 (seven) days trial use.
The web site needs a Forum but in the meantime I've left a few questions on the Support feedback message box.
Happy Painting all.........
I did give it a try and as a drawing application it is excellent, even just on a few minutes playing. I have the artistic ability of a small, sun-hardened cowpat (or say Tracy Emin) and the pen mode can even make a few of my daubs look reasonable.
However, I primarily wanted a scribbler for notes, for which it works up to a point if you are prepared to go slow and steady, but even then it sometimes loses the plot.
If I was a sketcher I would buy this in a heartbeat, but I don't rate it for note taking, at least if you only have your finger handy

Just received a reply back from DynaInk to this one.
Hi,
Thanks for reporting this problem. As I see it only occurs when you undo all your steps. This case DynaInk does not refresh the screen.
I will correct it ASAP, until that you can use File/New to undo all your steps.

Trust me... you won't be disappointed.
Yeah, I got responces from DynaInk last night after I posted a couple of questions to them and such, about 2 hours after I sent them. I am really impressed with that.
I can mention that the software supports WVGA, they just didn't list it in the overview.
As for rotating, could it be a HD2 issue? I'm going to fiddle with registry and will let you know.

Yes.. I've now sent two messages and both came back within the hour (or thereabouts).
As to the rotating, the manual doesn't give too much info (apart from actually saying Portrait/Landscape).
Would be interesting if there is a reg key.
The developer's going to send me an email very soon with the update to the problem I found on screen refresh. I'll post it here as soon as it comes through, along with any other snippets of info.
I've done the registry hack, but it didn't work (created CAB). I suspect it has to do with the value needed for the HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList >>>
Registry String: DynaInk
Value: ????
Anyone know what I should use here as a value?
*** Tried MunichWinClass, DynaInk - no luck
***UPDATE *** I have got rotation working, you can grab the CAB below for making the change.
The (SC) version is for using if DynaInk was installed on Storage Card. Having not made CABs before I wasn't sure if there is a way to set it up (WinCE Cab Manager) to recognise where app was installed automaticaly, so I made the two seperate ones.

Also, thanks for looking at a registry hack for the screen rotation.
I'm busy right now but will try it out later tonight and get back to you.
Cheers.

It's a good thought and one that I may just follow up on, thanks.
The main problem seems to be that the fine movement and close curves required to write is misinterpreted, so you seem to get random straight lines joining what I'd guess was two points detected as having been pressed on the screen.
If you write big and slowly it's mostly ok, but I wonder if the screen can ever work properly for notes without a stylus.
Certainly not the software's fault though - it's a tidy bit of kit!

Not had chance yet to try this out Nighthawk.
Can you tell me what it actually does to the software or how it's rotated?
Is it done automatically as you rotate the screen?
It's just adds DynaInk to the GSensor Whitelist (registry), same as we had to do for TomTom.
HKCU/Software/HTC/HTCSENSOR/GSensor/ModuleName
Key: DynaInk
Value: \Storage Card\Program Files\DynaInk\DynaInk.exe
HKCU/Software/HTC/HTCSENSOR/GSensor/WhiteList
Key: DynaInk
Value: #NETCF_AGL_BASE_
!! FUN APPLICATION, NOT INTENDED TO BE USED IN REAL WORLD AVIATION !!
For all those flight-sim enthusiasts out there: I have created this PFD (primary flight display) which shows the speed, the altitude the coards and the attitude similar to a real PFD display in an airplane cockpit.
Although the application has been created and tested on an HTC HD2, it might work on other devices as well. Internel or external GPS and the HTC G-Sensor are required. It is planned to add a serial communication channel to a PC server component which allows to use this little proggy with MS Flight Simulator displaying the flight parameters so you can get rid of the cockpit panel on your primary display.
Just keep in mind that this is the first version of the program, so there might be *some* improvement potential.
A screenshot of the program is also attached.
Pls let me know what you think about it.
Thanks.
As a pilot I cannot find any sense in this, sorry m8.
Useless for aviation.
Useful might be an HSI-App, an RAIM-availability-check-App, a NOTAM-APP and so on. An artificial horizon on a handheld device... No, not good...
Title correction...
It is just for fun, not intended for real world aviation.
I will change the title so that it becomes more clear.
As an airbus pilot I like it! Lots of scope for further development, keep up the good work !
when I read your discrip, I had something totaly dif pictured in my mind. guess Im falling back on my sail plane lesson days.
I had round face dial and a yaw bubble pictured.
While this is cool, I would prefer to see the old analog style with an altimeter that you can set your start altitude and a yaw bubble, rather than the HUD style. just IMO.
And yes this is just for fun.
Keep it up, I will follow your project with intrest.
cheers
Good Work mate
While some are critical in their opinion I'm pleased with your app.
Keep up the good work mate and for all others who are not so encouraging ...... what do you want for an app a full blown flight simulator, the guys making an effort to develop something and sharing it for a free with us so to help him out at least .... I mean at least encourage him and make some constructive criticisms.
It doesn't cost to be nice and help to motivate others...........
Customize it
Just as a hint for those of you, who would want to use other bitmaps. I have designed the application in a way which allows you to modify or extend it. If you look into the applications program folder, you will find an XML file describing the layout of the display. You may also change or add bitmaps. The bitmaps are all located in the
HTML:
resources
subfolder. If you change the size of the offset of bitmaps, you will have to adjust some values in the XML file as well.
As you can see there all items are drawn in 3d space.
However, I am working on a HSI as suggested before. I will post it later this week.
Known issue:
- After running the application 3 or 4 times, OpenGL is not working properly anymore (not able to create rendering context). This is an issue of OpenGL. You have to restart your device for OpenGL to work again. If anyone has a solution, please let me know.

That would be awesome!
Cool app
Certainly would be better than no attitude information in the event of a vacuum and/or elec failure.Even if just to make flying the performance instruments a bit easier.
I would defintely like to see a HSI app possibly with an open (editable)waypoint database.Anyone interested!?
Keep up the good work!
I love it. Thanks so much...
I just wonder if settings could be made permanent until being changed again so as to start the application without my having to select REAL and AVERAGE everytime.
And as a proud HTC HD2 owner, the display could me made much
larger indeed...
Congratulations and thanks again.
This is a fine app with a lot of potential esp. for UL-pilots as an emergency backup if UL-airplane-pfd fails.
Would be nice if indicators are bigger and the layout equals to Flymap, Skymap or MGL-layout
There is enough place for a nice big yaw indicator. Maybe You can get some code from GPS-tracker V2.0 (MooNah) in this forum, it already has a full working PFD incorporated.
Good luck with further devs., when next version is online I will try it in my gyroplane.
I think it's fun!!!!!
next step: build a flightsim for wm where we could use this
You will be in real danger....if you do so.

As you will easily see, this PFD horizon responds to gravity, that is, to the accelerometers installed in the phone.
It has no gyros, no way to provide PITCH ATTITUDE, WHATSOEVER.
If you keep the phone perfectly vertical and quickly move forward (accelerate) it will SURELY show a pitch up...pretty much the same effects that a stand-by compass shows when changing speed (remember that?...accelerate-north, decelerate-south).
You will have the very same pitch information as the one given by a bottle full
af water suspended from a string, or a can of Coke : and it will KILL YOU as well as your passengers (if any), not to mention people on the ground.
The only usable parts of this FUN APP (as named by the author himself ) in aviation are:
1. True track (not magnetic heading).
2. Altitude (neither QNH, nor QFE related, but of course; unless your flying field happens to be at sea level and actual atmosphere matches the ISA atmosphere parameters exactly). Remember that QNH variations as well as heat will make the GPS readings very different to that of your altimeter, as height of the air column will vary a +/-4% every +/-10 degrees Celsius.
Example. Airplane flying at Flight Level 300. QNH in the area 1023. Terrain at 2000 feet. Atmosphere is ISA+15.
Therefore if we move the 1013.25 setting to 1023 there will be a reading increase from 30.000 feet to 30300 (calibrated altitude, QNH related).
That is 28.300 feet above ground (we start with this as the air column height for the calculation). Since ISA is +15 we add 15/10 times 4% and we have 28300*15/10*4/100= 1698. True altitude is 30300+1698=31988
So we are cruising at FL300, 30.000 feet pressure altitude, 30.300 feet calibrated altitude (QNH related), 31988 above sea level, 29988 feet above ground level.
GPS WILL SHOW 31988 FEET.
3. Ground speed ( neither IAS nor CAS nor EAS nor TAS), as provided by GPS system. Remember that your airplane aerodynamics are related to calibrated speeds....you will stall if too slow ore destroy the airframe if to quick !!!! But you can navigate and make good your track, of course.
Hope I have made myself understood....and that you read this at the earlier !!!
Hi!
It quite very good if the second part under we have the route. I am using the Oziexplore program, it can creates the route, and apear on screen. if this soft applied to that once, could be perfected!
Thanks
great app mate..just for fun...
Nice work thank you. On future can you make like pilot cocpit with all dash boards like in Flith simulator game if this possible. Thank you

Indeed as an Ultralight-Gyroplane-Pilot I like this app and since the Horizon-tab in GPS-Tracker by MooNah doesn´t work right now this could be alternative as a a last resort-backup if glass-cockpit instruments (MGL-Avionics) fail ...... (better to have this than nothing at all and I also have Flymap PPC on my HD2 if main Moving map Nav. fails)
This app has great potential since it reads the infos from G-sensor and GPS.
For the future dev. if I might add my wishlist:
1. Add to screen: slide-indicator and compass, Altitude
2. slightly more refined graphics
As a start: BRAVO, hope You have the patience to go on developing this nice app ( like Dunc001, that made in 100s of hours of work a professional weather app - Duncans Weather Panel - see there - that is more reliable than many professional aviation weather briefings).
I bookmarked this thread and hope for further developments by U
Congratulations

Hey guys, I've released my first app on the Market and it's made and tested on the Transformer.
I want this app to be as close to writing on real paper as possible. I'll be using this app myself to take math notes when school starts. Let me know what you think!
Features:
Smooth writing experience: no lag and no jitter between the stylus movement and the screen response. This is the most important part for me; having loads of features doesn't matter if I can't write well! It works perfectly on the Transformer and I'm testing it out on other tablets.
Smart palm detection. Only records the writing from your stylus! (note: only works for right handed people now. will add the setting for left-handers later)
Export page and notebook: share the page as PNG file, or export the whole thing as a ZIP file to your dropbox or gmail. Share works with programs like Evernote. You can also export it as a PDF file!
Paper type: comes with four familiar paper types.
Stylus calibration: Instead of drawing where the stylus touches the screen, it will draw where you *think* the stylus tip is. Good for those thicker tip styluses.
I use a Griffin stylus: http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Techn...0K1Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1314056598&sr=8-1, modded with the rubber grip from a Pentel pencil: http://www.amazon.com/Pentel-Twist-E.../dp/B00006IEH1
The main thread is over on the XOOM forums. You'll find the APK there for a trial version (expires October): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204885

I look forward to using this app when I get a stylus. Palm detection seemed to work well from resting my palm and using my pinky/other hand to write.

I definitely recommend the Griffin stylus. The tip is a bit fat but once you do the calibration it works just fine. I was happy to be able to write subscripts and superscripts (exponents) clearly. The Transformer's screen is really sensitive. Just loving it. I don't know how it compares to other tablets though.
I am using a rocketfish stylus I picked up from bestbuy and it works beautifully. One thing I would like to request though is a landscape mode.
Writing in portrait is kind of akward... Also there is a small amount of lag, keep up the good work and I would like to let you know this is the best App of its kind in the market!

Nice app! Will try it out when college starts!
Not that impressed
It is an excellent idea, but my stylus left gaps in the letters, it was hard to differentiate between a c and an e for example. Now it could be that my stylus (there are no thins ones for capacitive screens, right?) isn't good enough so I ordered the Griffin from Amazon (OP you should get a cut). We'll see.
Can it also convert handwriting to actual text?
any free version to try ?
Free version in the other thread. Just download and install the APK
Good looking app.
Thoughts:
- Love the palm detection.
- Add Landscape mode.
- Lags a bit.
- FreeNote picks up my handwriting better (i.e. not all stylus strokes are being recognized.)
System Used:
- Asus TF w/ Prime 1.7 & Netformer
- Targus stylus. Very similar to the Griffin if not the same.
Thanks for sharing
Great app use it for school everyday. Would love to see in the future the ablity to copy a page ( like a graph ) so I don't have to redo it over and over. Also it would be cool if we could import text documents ( online teacher notes) and use the stylus to take notes in the margins during lectures. Landscape mode would be wonderful and improved response time too. Also one bug I noticed not sure if anyone else has noticed but occasionally strokes will disappear immediately after making them. Thanks so much for this app it is really amazing.

I purchased this app to possibly further development because I think it has potential. Will you add pressure sensitivity similar to how AutoDesk's Sketchbook works? I use that currently to take notes but I really like the palm recognition with this app. I have used this application for note taking for a few weeks prior to purchasing it. Thanks!
one more thing i'd love to see if possible, could you add the option to change the color of the pen stroke.

What is this palm recognition you guys are talking about?

Palm recognition is where when you place the palm of your hand on the screen as a rest for writing the screen then does not detect the palm as a 'touch' for writing/drawing.
Basically how it works is the same on many TabletPC's in where the 'touch' point area is smaller before registering a hit on the screen.
So, a small area of say a pen or finger is registered and shows on the screen, whereas a larger area of say a palm is not registered and as such does not show on the screen.
Pretty decent. Im using the Targus stlyus.
A few complaints- I tend to be a small writer so it sometimes doesnt recognize my w's, e's, etc.
Im not sure if its the stylus but there seems to be a small bit of lag when you write.
Also, I'd love if zooming in was inegrated- this way if you do any math equations, its not HUGE and you could easily write a fraction of sorts. Maybe like on the left side next to where you can scroll, add a scroll zoom bar or + - buttons in a corner.
Im really wanting to use this and possibly get rid of paper completely this semester and keep it all digital. Teachers even said they want to and want us to save paper.
Keep pushing updates and ill be happy

Great app i think i may have used the trial in my exploration for an app that supports my needs.
i was wondering if the "left hand" update is available and what it may include?
what i would like (not sure if other lefties would be interested) is,
have the phone in landscape
the writing pad on the left
the digital paper on the right (in portrait view)
If you or any other developer is able to do this, it would be worth double your current $9.99 asking price for the app for me.
(a 7 day trial would be awesome just to make sure its the app that suits me.)
Thanks in advance.
Has anyone tried this with a Jot?
Is there a limited trial version available?
Can it convert from graphics to text?
