I currently have a rooted g1 and loving it but my GF wants to get me a new phone like the mytouch or cliq. Are those phones even rootable and if so any advantages over g1.

Cheapest option for AT&T 3g Froyo phone?

I'm working on a project, and I need an Android phone that's compatible with AT&T 3G, and running Froyo. The obvious choice is the Nexus One for AT&T, but the project's not really worth spending $500+ on. Are there any other phones out there that are compatible with AT&T 3G, unlockable and capable of running Froyo?
your best bet would be a t mobile phone, i was looking in to the same thing for a while and my best bet was buying a g1 or a mytouch 3g, as all att phones are very locked down and wont run froyo

Need Guidance

I am about to upgrade mine and my wifes phone and I need some guidance on what phone I should get. I will prob get my wife an iphone or windows7 phone, just because I want something easy and painless for her.
I am looking to go to either ATT or Verizon. I have a Samsung Captivate. My biggest problem with this phone is the lag. I can't seem to get rid of it no matter what I do. So the biggest thing that I am looking for in a phone is no lag. I don't really care about custom roms so much because if it runs my apps correctly then there is no need to run a custom rom, so locked boot loader is ok for me.
I have been looking at the new Droid X2 or maybe Droid Charge. LTE is not in my area but will be by the years end, so is getting an LTE phone now what I should do? Do you think it will be better to get a phone off ebay/craigslist and just wait for a newer phone?
I have been a faithful ATT subscriber for years, but they have been pissing me off lately so thinking about switching to Verizon, but if I can get the phone I am looking for on ATT, I will stay.
I am in need of some guidance.
Thanks,
Keith
Buy it on ebay and wait for a phone with ice cream dual core speeds
If you make the switch to Verizon. I would say the HTC Thunderbolt. It almost made me change from T-Mobile using HTC G2. I just like the G2's keyboard. The Thunderbolt is a powerful device that will do anything you want it to. I used a friends Thunderbolt for a few weeks. I never had a problem with lag. It really is a nice phone. That is just my opinion though.

[Q] Best way to un-root a Samsung Galaxy S 4G

I switched from T-Mobile to AT&T yesterday and I want to sell my Samsung Galaxy S 4G but the store I usually sell phones to won't accept rooted phones. I doubt I ever go back to T-Mobile so the phone is pretty useless to me and I figure I might as well get some cash for it.
The last time I un-rooted my Samsung Galaxy S 4G I took it back to a ROM that did not have 2.36 on it and then updated through T-Mobile. Is this the best way to un-root the Galaxy S or is there another way?
The last ROM I have installed on the Galaxy S is Black Vahilla (Probably spelled wrong)
Yes. Flash pure stock ROM since you are on VB. If you were on stock ROM with root you can unroot with SuperOneClick.
Pure Stock ROM
You could also unlock the phone for use on other carriers such as AT&T. FB has a great unlock tool here.
Thanks! That should be easy.
We debated on which phone we would keep as a backup and since my boyfriends MyTouch 4G has less issues than the Samsung Galaxy S and gets better cell phone coverage we decided to unlock it.

[Q] looking for a new phone

I have the samsung infuse 4g and was wondering what a good phone would be to replace it now? I like samsung but i want a phone that can get ICS and has a lot of development here? im planning on getting an unlocked one most likely and im probably just gonna pick it up through kijiji. Thanks
imo the galaxy nexus is the best bang for your buck as far as unlocked unsubsidized phones go.

Unlocking / Carrier Choice on Moto Droid 2?

So, I recently acquired a Motorola Droid 2 Global... I rooted it, installed a nice version of ICS on it, and the phone is quite decent for what it is... instead of selling/trading it, I am looking to possibly use it for my OOPS phone... I do a lot of kayaking, some whitewater, and need a phone on the boat but need one which I care not if it dumps in the river... Problem is... I have a rooted beauty of a Samsung Galaxy that is my every day phone thru T-Mobile (and LOVE IT!)... This Moto is thru Verizon... can I make it compatible w/ T-Mobile so I can sim card swap and call it a day??
