How do I use my phone camera to more complex applications? - General Questions and Answers

I have a HTC 3600 and I want to do use complex applications:
1) How can I activate the camera in a video recording device and work on other applications while it camera? Right now, I go to another application the camera stops the camera saves the file alone.
2) I want to conduct video calls using one software: Skype / ICQ / Messenger with the camera inside. How is it possible?

Using the Front Facing Camera with a flash application in browser

How do I access my front-facing camera and mic of my transformer in order to use it on streaming video websites like ChatRoulette or TinyChat etc.
I press choose webcam and the camera doesn't show up as an option.
Is there anyway to fix this? Is this something that should go under app requests?
If a developer can figure this out he could sell it for $$$$$.
I was disappointed in this aswell. Also google chat not working to call landlines.

[Q] Rear camera only with Skype

I have a Samsung 7.7 P6800 and I use it as a video surveillance camera with Skype.
In Skype settings I set the automatic answer with video and everything works fine.
The front canera is used by default but I would like to use the rear camera only since it has a better definition.
during the video call there is an option in skype for selecting the camera but working in automatic answer mode it's useless.
I don't need the front camera and I am ready to desable it but I need to keep the rear camera working.
I didn't find any app, can somebody suggest something?
Thanks
I don't think you will find any solution for this. I know g+ you can use the rear but I don't think there is an auto answer?
Sent from my GT-P6800 using xda premium

It's a pity beacuse I can switch from front to rear camera during skype video calls therefore there must be a way for keeping it on rear camera only by default either Android or Skype software modification.
Any expert here who can help?

Instagram Picture/ Video Poor Rear Camera Quality

Hi guys,
I am using latest global stable rom (7.5.1) and i noticed something wrong with instagram. As you all know instagram released new update and you can use the instagram like @snapchat which you can upload your story. I liked the app. But the problem is when you upload a story you have to take a picture or record video inside of the application. When i try to do that simply the rear camera picture or video quality is amazingly poor.
Any other one faced the issue? And any solution you you can provide?
Btw I tried global developer rom latest version as well (6.7.29) which came back to same issue as well.
Waiting for your feedbacks. Thanks.
After few tries..
Well ok what i found out after few tries is quite funny and simple. The problem is not the camera drivers or device specs.
Instagram app is automatically selecting the lowest quality video recording option. What i am trying to say is; since rear camera has recording options ( sd, hd, full hd, 4k) the app is making the lowest quality selection by itself. When it comes to front camera since there is no option to choose the quality of front camera video recording then instgram takes the fixed one which is already full hd ( you can find video recording settings inside of camera app for both rear and front cameras) I believe this is done due to decrease the data consumption.
So now the case is if we can simply remove the option of 'SD Video Recording of the back camera' then we can post good quality videos on instagram
So if someone know, how the camera recording quality can be removed from the system please let me know
Thanks in advance

[HELP] Can't record videos with rear camera.

Hello and thanks for any help.
Device
Moto G5S plus
Android 7.1.1
Ton of free space (13GB on internal, 57GB on SD card)
Rooted (Unlocking Bootloader, TWRP recovery, Magisk) following https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g5s-plus/development/root-moto-g5s-plus-t3673287
Problem
When I try to record a video using the REAR camera, the camera app just freezes. Then I have to restart the app. No file is created.
I can record videos with the front-facing camera without problems.
I can record short videos with instagram and facebook's messenger using the rear camera.
I have tried
Cleaning cache and data, Restarting in safe mode.
Changing storage to sd card on camera app.
Using third-party camera apps (open-camera, a better camera). None of them worked.
Using some other apps with video record capabilities:
Instagram and messenger can record without problems, but the videos are limited to 15 seconds duration.
Whatsapp and Telegram did NOT work.
As in whatsapp the duration is limited to 2 min, and in telegram there is no limit (I think), this made me think the problem is related to the duration/size of the video. So I tried Open-camera with restricted video size and low resolution, but did not work either.
Or maybe instagram/facebook do not save the video in local, and just send it, so the problem may be related to writing permissions?
I can download and see videos without problem.
If anyone has any idea about what to try next I really appreciate it.
If more information is needed please let me know.
Thanks.

Default Camera App - OneUI 3.0 - Android 11

Recently I have updated my Samsung Galaxy A70 from OneUI 2.5 to the latest update OneUI 3.0 based on Android 11.
The most common usage I do on my phone is recording lectures in my university using the Samsung Notes app. While the lecturer is talking, i use the attachment button "camera" to take a photo of the powerpoint slide and add it to the notes at the same time i am recording the lesson so I can find the timestamp later.
I cannot record the audio and open the camera at the same time. When the camera app opens, the recording stops. But when I open another camera app (not the preinstalled Samsung Camera app) then the recording doesn't stop.
This is why I have installed and made default application for camera a third-party camera app, the GCam port for my phone.
Everything worked fine until the update.
Apparently based on the following post, in Android 11, I cannot choose a default camera app.
How Do We Set the Default Camera App in Android 11?
In Android 11 Beta 3, Google is blocking the ability for third-party camera apps to handle photo/video requests on behalf of other apps. Interested developers can read the release notes for the rat...
android.stackexchange.com
-Is there any way to fix this?
-Maybe Remove the preinstalled camera app and add GCam in its place?
-Any other program that takes camera photos and records at the same time with a Notes Replay feature (similar to Notability? Samsung Notes has this feature)?
-Any way to set the default camera app?
Anyone any ideas?
My workaround is to open the 3rd party GCam app and take a photo..this way the recording doesn't stop.
Then go back to Samsung Notes app and insert the image that I just took.
But it is very non-productive and slow.
