mines is a rectangle near the bottom of the batttery with X's ?

there's one on the battery and on the phone. the phone one is solid white. white with red x's is okay on the battery ldi. if there's no white (aka pink or red) then it's damaged.

Where is it the one in the phone? Is it possible to see it with out disassembling the phone?

for magic/mt3g there r 2 , one on the phone in the battery compartment and other where u put the strap on the bottom, i remember changing the batery compartment one wen my phone was bricked and i tried to damage it so that i wouldnt show vodafone logo and wouldn't start, the phone workked after pouring and draining litre of water while starting it and i accidently touched the indicators, got one off ebay for $2 and $35 shipping and white painted the less visible one and got the phone changed

Quick help with AT&T Fuze, por favor

The water sensor sticker on the battery for my AT&T Fuze is checkered red and white, is this normal or has it been tampered with water? I looked up an OEM battery online and my water sensor looks exactly like the one in the picture. I know for sure that my phone has not been water damaged by me, just afraid that the authorized AT&T dealer pulled some shady business on me, ie switch the battery with a water damaged one (box was not sealed). The other sticker that's on the phone (bottom right where the battery sits) is still solid white.
Thanks!

Same thing on mine, the battery sticker is checkered red and white and the the sticker on the phone (bottom right) is solid white.
I think the sticker turn solid red when it gets wet.
same thing on mine. Never exposed to water. I think it's due to the moisture.
My battery also looks the same, and has never been within 10 feet of water.
Thanks guys. I'm sure I have my answer now.
On a side note, when I talked to an AT&T rep, they told me that there's only one water sensor sticker, and that's on the phone, not the battery. But I wanted to make absolutely sure by verifying with you all.
On to problem number 2, my screen has an air bubble. It looks like the weird rainbow color in beef in the middle of the screen (about 1"x1.5"). When I push it, it moves, and when I let go, it moves back. I've only had the phone for a little bit less then 6 months. I will be working with AT&T warranty dept for this one. Wish me luck!

Good Luck. I have the same issue and they told me it was Physical Damage, and therefore out of warranty, so I would have to pay full price to get it replaced. My advice is to just call them and tell them you have dust under the screen or something like that, and hope that they don't find it.

water damage?

I got the tb on 3-28-11. From day 1 it has been in a protective case and has a screen cover. Today I took it out of the case and got in the phone for the SD card. When I pulled the battery out I noticed a white sticker on the battery with small d'a thru it. Then to the left while looking on the back on the left side I see a small black sticker with a white word saying void.
My question is does this mean it has water damage? I'm not sure how that's possible because I have kept it excellent condition. I have not once had the phone near water and pretty much treated this phone like gold.
Am I just reading it wrong or is there damage? I have not had any problems with the phone but I'm concerned.

Did you buy it from Verizon or best buy?
I'm pretty sure the void sticker is covering a screw that must be removed to open the case. Hence if you open the case this void sticker will be gone and Verizon won't honor your warranty.
Edit: there should be a white sticker with a red dot or line that will bleed and turn pinkish if there is water damage

When I worked selling phones we used to use stickers like that to tell if there was water damage and sometimes they would be activated inadvertantly by customers who would take their phones into the bathroom, close the door, not have a window or fan on, and take a very hot, steamy shower. Mind you though, these were POS flip/candybar phones at the time, nothing as sophisticated as a Thunderbolt.
I bought the phone from a Verizon store in fenton Missouri. I am 99% sure it was a corporate store. I searched the back of the phone and there is no other sticker. The only one seen was on the battery.
As far as the steam in the shower the phone has not entered the bathroom once with me. I know what the white sticker would look like cause I've seen it on the back of other phones I had but not this one.
This is puzzling me and I don't want an issue exchanging this phone out in the future I have a true malfunctioning issue.
Hmm usually the sticker turns red on the battery when activated by water the void sticker is covering a screw to get to it you must tear this sticker showing you have tamper with the phone. In my opinion the phone should be fine you can buy a new battery if your worried.

This is true. The sticker you see is for unauthorized disassembly.
There is another indicator for water.
Kk just double checking. I've had great phones in the past but this is the first time I spent this much money on a phone. Maybe I'm just being paranoid just wanna double check just in case. But other than that I love this phone.
U don't have water damage. That's how the strickers look on the TB. The comment about the void sticker is right. Verizon uses that to make sure the casing of the phone wasn't opened.

This is the easiest void sticker though I've seen to remove its not recessed like most. If you ever need to get into the phone the sticker is easily removed with a safety pin and care and replaced just as easy.

[Q] Battery compartment consists of film?

Allright. Ever since the last time i've taken out the battery of my Sensation, i've been slightly annoyed.
I've noticed that a small bulge developed in the battery compartment. I've also noticed there are a couple of streaks/scratches.
Why the hell is the battery compartment so susceptible to scratches? Also, should this bulge be of concern? I can even feel it if i run my finger over it.
Is the battery compartment back side actually a black film? You know, where the disposal symbol, and the FCC logo are.
If so, that would explain it, sort of...
not sure if serious. i really wouldn't worry about that, fella.
Oh, i'm serious. It's been bothering me. And i wanna know if the compartment is made of a film of some sort, or if it's plastic.

Regardless, anyone know what the battery compartment is made of? Not the surrounding area, but the back of where the battery sits. Just as i had described before.
Does ANYONE know?
And can you get a replacement for that part?
It's the same type of metal that is on the exterior of the casing. You can buy a new battery back door housing if you'd like. They go for about $10-20 on ebay or amazon.
MMmmmm... No.
That's not what i'm talking about.
The place where the battery is fitted.
Right there. The spot with the largers amount of surface area in the battery compartment.
There's a disposal symbol on it.
I've got a little bulge there, and some scratches.
It feels soft.
What is it?

It's made of aluminium, the little silver grounding pin is part of it, it has a square shape, and that aluminium part is connected to the lcd back by other sort of 4 pins. I opened mine to try to clean the dust under my screen, then i realized i needed a heat gun and glue, so i left it like that. The pins that make contact with the lcd may be another possible cause of the touch problem...

No no. Ok. You take the back cover of the phone OFF. And you take the battery OUT. The area behind/around the battery. It's black. It feels softer than any other part of the phone. THAT is what i'm talking about.
I ran my nail along it, and it left a mark... . And i kinda feel bad about it. Although it's inside... and the rest of the phone is in perfect condition.
That's the area on the phone i'm talking about.

This we overlooked while troubleshooting touchscreen problem.
Thanks
Ahem... eerrrmmm. Is anyone NOT clear of which part of the phone i'm talking about?
Are you talking about the black sticker in the batter compartment? I believe its just a plastic sticker. The bulge is probably either air that got trapped or a bump in the aluminum casing beneath. Either way the bulge and the scratches are purely cosmetic. There is no "replacement" for each sticker has several unique numbers on it. Also why would you even care?

[Q] Nexus S water damage indicator colors

Hi,
recently I got my Nexus S washed during a big storm and it started malfunctioning.
There is a water damage indicator under the battery contacts that was white with red/pink crosses on it before the storm and now it got white.
My question is, is this the right behavior? I searched the forums and other sites and many users are reporting exactly opposite, that it was white before the water damage and after it it turned red. This would be also supported by iFixit's teardown of the Nexus S, which features an image of a disassembled Nexus S with a white water damage indicator:
http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/kpCFHLEYQK6MIuXO.huge
So, does anybody know, how should the water damage indicators look like?
Thanks in advance,
FrantiĊĦek Nesveda
That is odd... my indicator is white and my phone isn't even 3 months old
if it was water damaged ... those red crosses should have appeared after
my i9023 (Vodafone Australia) is white with crosses (no water damage)
odd...
neither of mine have an indicator
stuck there [NS4G]
there is a little white panel
beside the contacts ON THE BATTERY....
nothing visible on the phone in the battery compartment
the first one i got is my contract phone
new from sprint
fwiw
I have disassembled it and found out that the inner indicator is white with crosses. I'm fairly confident the water didn't get to this inner indicator, which means non-damaged is white with crosses and damaged is white without crosses.
Anyway, as each indicator has a different image / pattern, it is obvious some water damage happened with the phone and the warranty is void.
By the way, the difference can be in our models, the i9023 could have different indicators than the i9020 or the NS4G.
If you could post the info about your indicators and the model you have, it would be certainly helpful.
My model is i9023 and the indicators are supposedly white with crosses before water damage and white without crosses after water damage.

So does the NS4G have a water damage indicator on the inside? Like would someone have to take the phone apart and remove the screws to see?

[Q] Looks like battery acid on the motherboard

So i inherited this asus tf101 from my brother. He rarely used it and then after a few weeks of use i get black bars across the screen and then it just wont turn on so. So i read up and see that the screen cable often comes loose, that silver ribbon, which it was, but that didnt fix it. Looked up another thing to check and noticed that down by the battery plug the orange ribbon coming out of the battery plug terminal has what looks like battery acid. Blue powder all over the motherboard along the black and white twisty wires along the bottom. Also where the white twisty wire meets the metal cover edge the metal is heat marked (little rainbow oil slick looking spot). Also where the ribbon is connected to the motherboard there is a black mark in the cream plastic which houses the teeth.
Is the motherboard fried or is there a chance its just the ribbon?
Thanks for any insight you can lend,
Chris

Here it is:
Does look like a leaking battery type acid covering, but it also looks like it is right up to the edge of the TF, are you sure it didn't get dropped into a liquid or liquid spilled on it ?
