HTC-Diamond2 / Acer F900 / or X1? help! - General Questions and Answers

Hello, all
To start off I've always favored touch screen phones.
i've had devices like the iphone (who hasnt?), htc diamond, amongst others.
Currently i dont have a touch screen phone however i do want one...
and i am debating between these three...
please note where i am now (baghdad) the devices available that i can get are as follows and are the ones i am debating ...
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 which runs for $500 dollars
Acer F900 for $600
HTC Diamond 2 $700
So those are the only ones available to me...
please advise which choice would be best?
also, i'd be VERY interested in running android on whichever one you select...
Thanks
((edit: lets remove the HTC D2 from the list above for reasons such as no camera flash, and there was another reason which i forgot. also the htc software which everyone seems to love i really hate. this leaves us with only the acer and the se x1.)) please vote?

If you are going to pay for an HTC Diamond 2 for 700 bucks than you might as well get the HTC Touch HD2 for 800 bucks on ebay and that phone is much better.

actually i tried to re-do my message but the message boards werent loading.
after doing careful reading i found the d2 was bad as it had no flash, amongst other things leaving my selection to only the acer and the se.

I think Acer F900 is better...at least the screen is bigger. To me 2.8/3.0 inches are not enough for me especially when viewing doc and pdf

In Italy you can buy F900 for 200€.
Your $ are U.S.A. $?
bye.

Go for D2 definetly!
You´ll have the support of this site if it´s an HTC device which is an important point, at least for me

I went ahead and bought the X1...
its a very nice device. (so far )
and it doesnt have that stupid "bevel" people keep talking about. at least it doesnt bother me when it comes to tapping the start button

What i should buy?

Hi all..
again this very same question..
my first PPC was a QTEK 9090 (from audiovox), it was so fast and reliable that i have fallen in love with it, but its only CDMA and i needed GSM, so i decided to move on and upgrade to one more complete, the HP hw6945 (AKA Htc Sable), and i'm so disappointed with it.. its freacking slow, it hangs all the time, and now out of the sudden it stopped working.. the complete opposite from the QTEK....so, i'm going to buy a new one, this time, with more research .. and i hope to have more good times with this new one..
what i'm looking foward is a good sized screen, fast cpu, gps, reliability!!.
so, what u guys recomend to me?
i have seen some on the net..
htc touch pro
sony xperia
nokia n97
what else??? please give me your opinion and suggestions.
thankss
Welcome to forums

Depends on Carrier.. You said GSM So its either ATT or TMO
If TMO Get the new MyTouch
if ATT Get a HTC Branded Magic
There basically the same phone except that the Magic branded device has more ram & will work on ATT 3g Instead of TMO 3g.. & Although I would like the extra ram its not worth giving up 3g since I am a tmo Cust..
& If android isnt your cup of tea then get the Touch Pro or Diamond (or the #2 versions of each, but I am not a fan of the new styling & love the pocketability (is that a word) of the original diamond).

Neither.. I assumed you were in the US.. Whatever carrier you get should use the Same bands as AT&T though so my recomendation for them follows.. Also the hero is a solid device with identical specs but doesn't have the trackball.. Personally I like the Magic styling better..
If you can hold out for a bit, I suggest you wait another 3-4 months. Right now, most of the phones that you will see are ~528 mhz. By the end of this year, the SnapDragon chipset will come out (1 GHZ). Mostly all the phones mentioned above are all 528. If you can wait a little longer, you can get double the speed for ~$200 extra.

Phone to buy?

I've been thinking of selling off my Xperia X1 and thinking of getting me a HTC Diamond 2. Bigger screen than the Xperia, plus I found myself not liking to use the keyboard. So hmmm.. Any other recommendations you fellas would recommend? I'd like a phone that has a big screen, of course, good hardware to last me at least 1-2 years. Doesn't need a keyboard...
Cheers fellas!
Wait till the HTC Thoth comes out

HTC X7501 would be a nice couple with you all
strong hardware, big screen, optional keyboard
thanks guys for the quick response. I am thinkin between HD and D2 right now. Checked out both HTC X7501 and Thoth. More interested in Thoth, though I've read that it's actually HTC Leo? Could anyone clarify more?

My spending limit would be around 500usd. What phone would you recommend I get? I really love the EXPERIA X1 but I'm not really sure. Thanks!
Current Main Phone: iPhone 3G 16gb
Secondary Phone: HTC Kaiser
The HD2 Leo if you want to stay with WM...

I suggest Rhodium if you need a great hardware keyboard, and if not Leo, I would maintain on WM for now.
Let us know what finally you got
The HD2 would make me nervous to own as its such an expensive phone. What do you guys think of the Experia X1?

i decided to change my phone help me!

well i'll always go for HTC... i'm a kind of WM fan but no matter what i'll always choose HTC over samsung or sony ericsson... just my thought...
thank u for your idea. Yeah i learnt that htc is very very pretty brand. But in Turkey, HTC's technical support is very bad. i broke my Hero's screen and i searched a service that can repair it for a week. finally i found one but it was very expensive. because there isn't any screen to be changed. so they bought from another country. luckily my parents can afford this. i'm a lucky kid in Turkey economically. but samsung and sony ericsson, there are lots of technical service for them ! :S i love HTC too, but in Turkey it's not popular...

well u think i should buy an htc. which htc can it be ? desire ? nexus one ?
Desire and Nexus is pretty good.
If you are willing to wait for a couple of months, you should probably get the HTC desire HD aka HTC ace.
Sent from my HTC Desire
my hero isn't working full function anymore. it fell down from my hand :S screen is ok but everything is not ok ... i can't wait couple months i think ... =/
I've been looking at new phones for the past month lol so here are some ideas:
Acer S100 Liquid E: Cheap/mid to high range phone/underclocked 750mhz snapdragon/LCD/256mb ram (350$) "its the poor mans decent android phone"
HTC Desire/Nexus One: similar good all around phones/1ghz snapdragon/AMOLED/512~546mb ram (550$ newish 400ish used)
X10: insane camera (8mp)/1ghz snapdragon/256mb ram (490$ new)
LG Optimus Z: not yet released but a beautiful phone
Acer Stream: expensive and the same as the X10 =\ (600$)
Samsung Galaxy S: fastest and best phone on the market currently
personally I'm getting the galaxy S on contract soon since in the long run it'll be cheaper and better than buying a new nexus one
If you're intent on getting a HTC manufactured phone I suggest the Nexus one, since it will probably get software updates quicker than the Desire

there are no contracts when buying phones in Turkey and there aren't any Galaxy S with official selling. If i'll buy it, i'll buy it from another country.
What about samsung Wave ? It's very sexy
htc desire - a no brainer android(you cant go wrong with it..just close your eyes and buy one) but i dont like the pinkish tint on the AMOLED screen and i am not a fan of its look.
xperia x10 - by far the best looking smartphone (according to me)..the screen is gorgeous..but 1.6 is outdated and lack of MT may be a deal breaker..
in the end, it comes down to your personal taste..i went for xperia x10 because of the looks and better sony tech support in my country.. and yes, this was when desire wasnt OFFICIALLy available..
and about samsung WAVE..it has bada OS..if thats not a dealbreaker for you..this is one of the best VFM smartphone iv seen yet..

[Q] GSM Android phone with Keyboard

I Currently use the HTC Touch Pro 2, but i want to change to Android.
i've done my research but i can't find a good GSM Android phone with a Keyboard.
Can I please get some help in the matter?
Thank you
Alejandro
Are you looking for high end mid range or cheap?
Hey, thanks for answering, I'm looking for the best I can get.
Now I have the HTC touch pro 2
the HTC Desire Z? Coming soon, was announced the other day !
HTC Desire Z or, if you absolutely can't wait, Motorla Milestone
Htc desire Z (Out october) or The motorola Milestone 2 (Out this month so dont get the first one )
UHm... thank you!!!
now question, why wait for the HTC when the motorola is available now and has 1000mhz processor instead of 800?
it seems like a better deal, what am i not seeing?
I guess Motorola quality and support is less than HTC's is

although the desire z is only 800mhz it uses the 2nd generation of quallcomm snapdragon technology, its said to be nearly twice as fast as the standard desire that also has a 1000mhz cpu, it also has a much improved gpu over the first generation of snapdragon
Ok then, I decided to go now with the Motorola MIlestone 2, but can't find it anywhere to buy!!! just this random website that was selling it for 699 dollars...
any thoughts?
It isn't released yet It's coming soon
Expansys
Clove £350
Assuming of course your buying from the UK. As already said, its not out yet.
Its a real shame though as in my opinion, the Samsung Galaxy S PRO is the daddy but there are some serious issues with the non-keyboard Galaxy S. I hope that when (if) the Pro S gets released here these are resolved. The Samsung Galaxy S seems to be rated as far superiour GFX and processor on many websites compared to the current range of HTC and still rate just slightly above the Motorola and the new to be launched Z and Desire HD. Its important to note though that these "people" are only guessing and comparing against what they think the new chips will do so it could be inaccurate - until a device is really launched, no one of us can really tell its true performance (hardware alone does not do this).
Like you, i'm in desperate need of a Qwerty phone and sadly, there seems to be no real phone for me. I want a 4+ inch screen with ALL the bells and whistles and am happy to pay for it!
I keep searching in vain .... I think the nearest so far *MAY* be the Dell Lightining..... maybe...
edit: sorry, forgot to say that the Dell is WP7. Android still doesn't support Exchange properly (DYOR, im fed up with explaining). Having said that, I keep reading that WP7 will offer full Exchange support but until its released, won't truley know.
In my experience, do not rush into buying hardwares. Unless your rich that is. Just wait a couple of days after the release and read the reviews or go play with the thing first hand.
On that note, you should probably get a Desire Z.
Sooooooooo I see the Desire Z is already on Ebay, any ideas when the milestone 2 will be?
I want to buy this phone Asap, all the reviews and info seem to point at the Milestone like the better choice
