Clearing contacts and calendar entries only

How do I clear just the contacts or just the calendar entries from my WM 6.1 tytn?
I could not find any tool to specifically remove one or the other.
Any thoughts?
a semi automatic solution
use pim-backup's delete all option...i'm just not sure if it will work without at least single contact
this is how i would do it,make a backup of single contact and a single apointment, when finished run restore and select to delete all existing contacts and apointments...when finished manualy remove thoses 2 entries...
when i have doubled entries because of syncing...i just restore backup with delete existing option
or you can delete pim file...but you will lose all personal information data...maybe even more
try playing with pim backup...you can't loose anything...except your contacts maybe

But, with PIM Backup you can get them back instantly!
There's this: http://oldsap.blogspot.com/2008/06/os-clean-calendar.html for the calendar entries.

yes it's true but it takes only creativity for solutions like this...well if you dont have an app
and the app seems to be modifiable...because it's probably just a few code lines
maybe we could change the target
but it would be easier to find a real app to do the work
hey what about deleting the pim file from windows folder...you would lose all personal data (contacts, apointments, tasks, messages, mails) which is why it's called pim personal information...something

Best free PIM back up for contacts!!!!!!

This is a great little app for all winmo devices, its called XML Backup, best of all, its free. If you, like a lot of other people here at XDA, like trying new ROMs and apps that cause you to hard reset, then this app is for you!
Install the cab. find it in your programs list, start the app and then it will ask you if you want to back up or restore. For first time users, back-up your contacts list to your memory card (as so it won't get erased), you must press destination folder! Create a folder called "Phone Back-up" or what ever you want to call it, go back to your XML Back-up app, back-up your contacts to the newly created folder, press select all, then start! You're done! Now you can re-flash to your hearts content and never have to worry about losing all contacts again!
Even better PPC PIM Backup, this does all your messages as well as contacts.
Personally, I don't see a need for saving messages. If anything, being able to save 300+ contacts is enough for me! But, PPC Back-up PIM is a really good app aswell, my preference lies in XML Contacts
For me its the ability to retain SMS conversations over a ROM flash that means i have gone the way i have. My contacts are saved on-line anyway as I have a mail2web acount that does OTA sync of all the PIM data.
Just remembered PIM Backup also does your calendar, which again i don't need, see above, but others might.
I'm not going to dispute the fact that there are but apps for PIM back-up! I have tried some of them, but, XML is simple and easy! 'm sure as you know, the more stuff you keep on your phone, the more memory it uses and seeing as how I enjoy having as much free memory as possible, just keeping my contacts backed-up is fine!
For the newb's and the faint of heart, XML is a lot easier to work with and my personal choice for PIM back-up!

try vufone.com - syncs contacts, calendar, messages, pictures, videos and music to the web.
Rafi
Dashwire does the same thing, but, it can also send text msgs from your pc/laptop for free! I tried it out for a bit, decent app, but, stays active in the backround, therefore, killing your battery!

Backing up Mail Account settings?

Is there a tool that allows the saving and restoration of mail account settings.
Would save some time after a hard reset.
Try app Microsoft My Phone!!
You can use Makisu to store your mail settings in an xml file and use Sashimi to restore your settings after flashing.

You can't backup your e-mail with MyPhone? Or are you looking for an extra option to sync e-mail setup information? AFAIK MyPhone will not only save your e-mails but your account information as well! But I'm not a big fan of MyPhone (it always messes up syncing with my PC), so I'm not sure.
YAAAAY! My 1000th post!
I have contacts, calender, tasks, sms, favorites, photos, videos, music, documents and storage card. Nothing more...
SPB backup does the trick for me!
I like the fact you can pick and choose what you can restore from a previous backup, hence if there where anything conflicting you can leave it out!
Awesome piece of kit!
spb backup can backup/restore the email-setting and/or just the emails?
That's a good question! +1
Yes it does!

When I first got it I wasn't sure but sure enough, After a hard reset and a full back up everything (and I mean everything) was back to how it was! great piece of kit!
Only thing I had a problem was had a couple of errors with SPBtv but still seemed to work fine.
So I Can confirm it will back up:
Registry
Mail accounts
Wifi settings/configurations
mail (both sms & email)
Bookmarks in Opera
and so the list goes on..
One word of warning, when it asks if the time is the same as on your phone, you need to make sure it is as only made that mistake once
Phone kept glitchin away till my next hard reset...
No long term damage done tho so all is good!
Well worth the money personally!
Is there no simple tool to back-up and restore only email account settings?
No tool? ;D
Okay. Wherre are the mail account settings stored.
Eg accounts and server settings?
SPB Backup works for me.

SPB Backup
I installed SPB backup and had a play.
There is no option for backing up just mail settings.
Do I need to perform a system backup or email backup? Note I don't care about the emails, I just want the account settings.
When I do a restore does it give me more options?
you could use provisional xml to backup email only. It's a bit complicated but after you do it once you'll get the hang of it.
Not interested in the email.
After a flash I find it a pain having to re-setup my email accounts (3). Would be cool to just restore the settings only. They all sync via Exchange and IMAP so no need to backup.
Provisional XML backs up the settings, not the emails themselves
Thanks McKenna
Followed these instructions
Thanks for posting you guys, Complete noob to this,
1. So I install vinny's app ( Storage Card )
2. Copy & Paste Shogunmarks files to pc
3. Edit xml files to include my info
4. Copy to same folder as 1. on ppc.
5. After Hard reset just run Vinnys app.

Will MyBackupPro or Titanium Backup do this?
Lets say i get a new android phone, and want to backup/restore contacts with contact the contact thumbnails. Going to be a drag adding 200 pictures each time i change phones

"Yes, MyBackup Pro will also backup the contacts icon picture."
Found that on android forums.
http://androidforums.com/htc-desire...pictures-before-factory-reset.html#post854116
Seems MyBackupPro will do the job then.
If anyone can confirm this, id be greatfull.
Also found this:
"If your contacts are Google ones then the details and photos will be re-synced back to you phone after the update, Have a look at your Gmail account on a pc and check. "
Any way to easy convert phone contacts to google contacts? (Cant find Contactsync anymore on market, this app should do the trick)
I have alot of contacts, and dont want to do each one manualy. I tried to set up contacts sync to make it sync with gmail, but it will only sync google contacts it seems.

How to completely backup data and apps on your sensation?

Can someone point me in the direction of a guide, or list a way to completely backup my sensation.
Say I wiped my phone and I need it back as it was, the apps I have on the phone are, app2sd, app backup & restore, Titanium backup Pro, ext4 backup.
also, how do I backup my contacts online?
Hi
Concerning your contacts, when you do the quick-configuration process at the phone start, your contacts are restored on your phone, check that your contacts are "Google" contacts not phone contacts, because they're linked with your google account.
With titanium (root required) you can restore all your apps with data (settings and savegames for example).

Google has integrated contacts with android very well. I suggest not to use any other applications to backup your contacts just leave it on android.
It is little difficult in starting but then it will make your life lot easy
Just open Gmail in your pc browser then all your contacts you can import to gmail by your pc. edit first name and numbers as you like...... here we go your all contacts are saved to google accout for lifetime whenever you flash new rom or get new android phone first time when you login in to your google accout in phone all contact will be syn. within 30 seconds.

That's right! You can merge your contacts, they doesnt have to be "gmail" contacts or anything, you can simply change the "contact type" when you edit a contact then make it "Google" on your android phone

Alot of contacts equals alot of editing, eh?
Lucky me, I only have "regular" contacts and export the lot to the sd-card.
Stupid or paranoid, you decide, but I want to be in total control of
who/what that can have access all my data, don't want to Googlefy to simplify.
But good to know the above tips'n'tricks if my mental state changes
I have uploaded all my contacts onto googlemail.
But I have a few duplicates, is there a way to only show the googlemail contacts and not the duplicates on the phone, or sim?

Yes, with Sense 3.6 by touching the "Phonebook" on the top of your contacts lists.
Maybe with the menu button in previous versions i don't remember..

I prefer to use 4ext recovery backup. You will have a nandroid backup of your whole phone. incl. your installed apps, contacts, etc. In case of a wipe you can easily restore the backup and your phone will be in the same state as it was. It is a good idea to do a nandroid backup before any change on the phone

And my way is the senior-citizen way, but IMO the BEST way
I use mybackup pro to backup apk+data at the same time.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
go to your gmail account, go to your contacts, delete the duplicate contacts, I had the same issue a while back, this fixed it. ENJOY!
