Issues with SDK (please help) - General Topics

Hi I've installed the latest version of SDK and for some apprent reason I can not find the usb driver that's needed to install, so that my phone will recognise my computer? Also having another issue when trying to open SDK setup.exe nothing happens? I've actually reinstalled this 4 times and still nothing seems to change. I've followed everyone's instructions to a "T" on multiple different sites. Everyone's instructions are the same and still nothing changes. Ive been struggling with this now for over 3 hours... which in my opinion is way to long as I'm not an idiot and something like this is extremely simple. It just won't work! Also when I go to download the usb drivers that are posted on some of the threads on XDA, I get redirected to download what looks to be the newest version of android-sdk_r3-windows.zip (which I'm currently running). I am using windows XP if that helps. I know that there are 3 different files and I know that I've downloaded the right one. If anyone has any advice at all on what I haven't done, need to do or am not doing correctly please, any advice will be greatly appreciated.

[Q] ADB & Windows 7??!!!

I am currently running Froyo 2.2 Red Glass Nov 2 Update using the Firerat Partition Mod. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate and I can't get ADB to work. It's something with the drivers. Does anyone have the drivers needed to get ADB working on Windows 7. I think it may be the updates Windows pushed down but it could be something else. Also I wanted to know, if there's a way to flash a recovery without using adb. My recovery is f*cked...I had RA-1.7 (Darch Unofficial) working properly, but wanted to see what was the benefit of using ClockWorks and I went from Clockwork to 1.6.2 and now I can't boot into recovery at all. If you need a log let me know. Thanks!
SN: I know this is in the wrong forum but I can't get my phone to boot into recovery nor use adb on my pc to flash a new recovery image. I need help because I'm gonna go crazy...AAAHHHH...wouldn't you do the same for your Hero???...lol...but seriously, I need help like yesterday if anyone has a solution please PM me or post. Thanks Guys...
I can't remember why but that happened to me. I'm running windows 7 64 bit. Try using the flash_image command and push a new recovery I always use amon ro 1.6.2. You can do that from terminal on your phone if you have to. I don't know if your s-off but if worse comes to worse then you could use a HERCIMG.zip Also another guy wrote about this in the q&a section. But it could have been deleted. I remember I ended up running the ruu at the end. It's not the computer it's the phone

I need x32 not x64...so I'm back at square one. Plus I did post in the right section in addition to this one. I got 41 views and no replies...that sucks right...
Try using Rom manager to re-flash clockwork?
Plan C: RUU your phone, and re-root and go from there...
There is no reason for him to reflash any recovery, as adb connectivity starts in recovery and drops when you pass it or reboot the phone and picks up from the rom itself (the adb communication interface is built into all versions of android)
Win7 32bit works fine with the 32bit ADB drivers, but just like the 64bit win7, it has hickups sometimes. That's your problem I am sure. Sometimes when you disconnect and reconnect a device (or it reboots) in windows 7 the drivers crash, and what win7 does as opposed to xp or vista, is sort of blacklisting the driver to stop it from crashing the rest of the windows system.
Ergo, you just need to reinstall the drivers you already have.. Have you tried that?
BTW, HTC Sync drivers are completely different than ADB drivers, and will cause conflicts. Did you install HTC Sync lately?
One last thing, you remember where you installed adb? Or rather your Android-sdk-Windows directory? From there it is in the usb_driver folder.
i.e. if you installed to the root of your drive, it would be in:
c:\android-sdk-windows\usb_driver\
The name of the file is android_winusb.inf
Well when you do, or either way, someone move this to the q-n-a section.
Problem solved.

Hows this going? Try pming carbon kang he had the same issue back in May it's happened to quite a few of us after using a different recovery and flashing this one rom. I know it sounds crazy and shouldn't be happening but it did. The thread that it was in got deleted probably by mistake.

[Q] CM7 usb mostly not working for pc :(

So I just got the latest version of CM7 for my Droid 2 Global and apart from all of the awesomeness there seems to be a fairly big problem: my pc will not recognize my phone being connected. It used to work (I used it to unbrick my phone, flash CM, root my phone, unroot it because GB raped my root, and I just used it to charge my phone on a daily basis). I've looked for this issue everywhere, and I either can't find somebody that has the same issue, or the way they resolved it doesn't work for me. What's interesting though is that if I plug in my phone then reboot it, my pc recognizes it... But if I unplug it, my pc won't recognize it if I plug it back in again. Hopefully this is simple enough that I can solve it (with anybodies gracious help of course) but not too simple that I feel stupid (even though I know almost nothing about what I'm actually doing).
Any helps and/or flame is greatly appreciated.
You probably would have much more luck solving this problem by heading to the forums where people actually work on this CM7 port.

Same issue
This is a known issue.

I don't know about the above advice, but,
I do know that I have read many many posts where the problem was resolved by getting the most recent drivers for your device. Unfortunately, I don't have a link to these to post, and I am not sure this will solve your problems but...

Could you be a little more specific? I've got the latest version of the google USB drivers installed available on the Android SDK tools.

It's not a problem with the latest drivers. It works fine when the phone is connected to the computer and then the phone is restarted. When it comes back up it is recognized perfectly fine. It's definitely something wrong in the build.

Installing Drivers for tf300t

OK first off I know this probably shouldn't be in general but seeing as how I cannot post in the forum that this pertains to I am forced here. Now I am trying to use the root method by sparkym3 however when I look at the drivers from the .zip I downloaded I have no idea or clue what to do to actually install them. I feel like a complete idiot and have been searching around for about 3 hours now. I have read through all the posts and even the guide by miloj and not one explanation is available as how to go about installing them on a windows 7 64 bit computer. Any quick and detailed answer would be most appreciated. Also I am working towards getting closer to the post limit so I can post the reply in the correct area. However this problem is literally eating me alive and I have no other idea what to do.
Alrighty then. Now I feel like an idiot I did find a way to get it to install and I feel like an idiot I didn't try this before. But if you need here is a link to the video explaining everything and what to do.

I had a similar problem. I ended up downloading and installing the Asus Pad Pc Suite from the Asus website. It will install the drivers. Only problem doing this is you need to make sure you turn off the Asus Sync application on your PC before you run the Sparkym3 method.
You could have always tried this. Keeps ya from installing all the bloat from ASUS.

[Q] Can't update to 4.2 at all. Please help?

I've been browsing these forums all night and I for the life of me cannot just find a simple answer. This update came out a while ago and I had no idea about it, so hopefully someone can help me.
Literally, all I'm trying to do is upgrade to 4.2. I've never done anything at all to my phone, it's always been stock. I'm looking for help because the OTA won't work at all, it said I was on 4.1, so it checked for updates and downloaded like a 400mb file, and it turns back on and I'm still at 4.1??
I went to HTC's site and saw that I could just manually install it, but of course it's never that easy. I did all the steps exactly, but when it starts to download and gets to the black HTC screen, my computer always says it doesn't recognize it and can't install drivers (error 170), and then it fails to update. I've tried this on both machines that run windows 8.1. I feel like I've tried everything..I tried running it in different compatibility modes, run as admin, and then I read somewhere that you update it when you're on the fastboot screen. So I tried that but when I'm in the bootloader my computer doesn't recognize my phone at all.
I'm stuck on what to do at this point. I can borrow a computer that has windows 7 on it, if that would help at all. Any help is appreciated!
Not enough info. What carrier version is the device? What region/country are you in? What is your current software number (not Android version).
When you say "manually" update, I think you are talking about RUU. What is the RUU version (file name)?
WIndows 8.1 is probably your main issue with the RUU. Win 8.1 is not compatible with HTC drivers. Anything before 8.1 should work. But again, you need to provide more info.
Hey man thanks a bunch! I should've provided more info, although I just tried it using a windows 7 laptop and it worked with no issues thanks!

Upgrading a G3 For Dummies

I've been getting help in the Newbie thread, but it's time I start a new topic, since it's getting harder and harder to find replies.
All I'm trying to do is upgrade an old LG from Android 5.0 to 6.0. That's it.
I've got the drivers installed. I've downloaded three different versions of Flash Tool. The only one I got to do anything was "Flash Tool 2014".
The first time I ran it (following the directions on the web page where I found it), I picked "CDMA", "DIAG", and "CSE Flash". I was able to pick "Other Country" and "English" and got the phone to start installing. However, it only got as far as 4% and gave me an error. Now, when I run it, I pick "Other Country" and can't even pick a language. They're all blank. If I continue, all the messages consist of Question Marks, however, it still gets as far as 4% before stopping.
The phone is bricked in Download Mode. I have tried two different USB cables, two different computers, one of which has Windows 7 & 8.1 installed. I've tried all different USB ports to make sure I'm on USB 2.0 and not 3.0. I've tried running in Administrator Mode.
I see many posts about the 4% Error. The solution involves downloading a "wx.dll" file and putting it in the C:\system32\LGMOBILEAX\PHONE folder, but that didn't work. I also so one that said when you get the error, take the battery out of the phone, unplug it, put it all back together, and then Continue. That didn't work either.
What else can I possibly do? Thanks.
Hey, I have been trying to find a rom for 6.0 and I can't find anything. The only way to get to 6.0 is through ota. If you have 5.0 then your lucky. Ota can only be used if you still have a sim card that's active in the phone. There isn't roms for stock android 6. I would try and help but I can't.
If anyone finds away to get stock 6.0 please let me know.
Talking about your issue of your phone being bricked, there is many unbrick methods. I personally used https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...n-qualcomm-hs-usb-qdloader-9008-mode.2933853/ it helped and fixed my issue. I still had my device info wiped off my phone somehow but at least it works. Your at a issue with a flash tool, fresh reflash with that method I sent if you can use it and start over. I can guide you through it if needed.
You might be stuck at a stand still, tell me what your phone says in device manager. You probably flashed a bad firmware. In that case I used the method above.
