I have no idea how, but my voice search is gone. Even when
I do a restore its not there. I'm guessing due to Apps2sd.
Anyway, any chance someone could post that apk for me to
download .
Thanks.
Forget it. I found it. Was lazy using the phone browser and
didn't search first .<slaps hand>

Hey,
I've seen this video and the Google Search Widget (at 2:30) doesnt have the "voice search" button.
I don't really use it on my Nexus One and would like to remove it.
Someone knows how to change it?
Thanks in advance
well, I guessed it wouldnt work but since I'm still a n00b with the system apps I just tried to install GoogleSearch.apk, enhancedgooglesearchprovider.apk and htcsearchwidgets.apk and it didnt work.
no one? Please..
just rename VoiceSearchWithKeyboard.apk to VoiceSearchWithKeyboard.apk.bak and the search widget will look just like that. there wont be a voice search at all on the phone tho.
at least, thats what its called on the droid, might not be the same on the nexus.
omfg! That's way easier as I thought! Thanks mate, worked!
glad to help, i guess these phones have a little more in common than i thought.
Wow, this really gave me a fecking lot force closes of launcher2! I removed the .bak and everything was fine again :\
Update if anyone is interested:
I tried it again and using it for 2 days already and without Force Closes! Not sure why it happened before but it works now.
That's crazy:
I can't find VoiceSearchWithKeyboard.apk anymore in System/App/
Just wondering if anyone has heard of such a thing. With all of the issues with protected apps not showing in the market with some roms, it would be neat if there was an app like the Music downloaders, that let you search and download apks.
Some apps poof from market and it would be nice to have a quick way to find them.
Does SlideME work? I used that back in the vogue android days, but I haven't used it since.. That was just a different market app basically
See if any of these work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=536317
I honestly don't know. My protected apps all work. And honestly the only times they haven't is because we were using developers roms. It's all fixed now though, and our official obviously won't have that problem.
Search the market for "APKtor." It's an app that'll let you add repositories filled with android apps. It's essentially Cydia for Android. As far as where to get your repositores, you'll need to figure that much out.
there a few others that i will not post here lol
Appbrain ...
Search google for an app called "black market"..
Then you will have to search for the right repositories.. If you download GMOB chat and go to the rooted users chat someone there will help you out..
*also in GMOB chat there is a room where there is nothing but posted apps, and a request room..

Don't want to steer the thread too far off topic, but is this true for all roms, or just certain ones. I haven't been able to spend much time on the forum the past few days, but if there's a complete fix for protected apps, I'll definitely set aside some time to seek it out...
i honestly havent dl'd anything from the market since my g1, cept to go grab linda and get acess to my sd right away...
anything the market can do, google can do better *singalong voice*
i understand the market is google, but i mean the search engine

fresh rom 2.0d.
Can anyone find Digital Clock Widget v1.8 in the marketplace? Says it's copy protected, but it's a free app. I have v1.7.6 and can't find it to update. Found a website with a zip of v1.8, but it's not signed. I signed it, but it won't install because it says it's missing classes.dex.
Also, flipz, is the market fix available as a standalone update? Currently running DCv2.05
Oh ****! APKtor is god!
is anyone else aware of a problem in android market where certain apps cant be clicked on but downloaded, comming up with the message :
sorry, details page for the requested item could not be found.
has just happened for me trying to get skype and various other apps .
I got that message too when I'm trying to open the XDA-Developer Premium page as well as many other apps.
Anybody have a possible explanation for this?
Yep. Everyone seems to be having problems.
wonder if it is anything to do with your googlemail account ??
A google employee has posted on the support thread for this problem that they've made some changes and paid apps do seem to be working again for me.
http://www.google.com/support/forum...cd&hl=en&fid=2a65bdb41d02f7cd0004a224e70b0261
Yup all fixed now.
I'm kind of relieved that it is as I noticed the problem just after rooting my transformer and I really wasn't looking forwards to working out how to undo it
jus gotta try and remember what i wanted to get from app market lol

So for my phone to work similar to the phone in the video, with it "popping up" first display result instead of the stupid browser.
I have to:
1) Freeze Browser
2) Change settings to "google.com"
3) Use US Voice
4) PROFIT???
Why can't we just have a simple google now that works without the freezing of the browsers? I'd like it to popup whenever I ask it something once, not direct me to the browser. Its just a pain, when your using Google Now and also want to browse something and you have to unfreeze the app....
Is their a work around yet?
ROM: Adam G JellyBelly 0.4.3, stock kernal
I'm sorry but I'm not too sure of what your trying to say. Please rephrase it?

According to everyone here, for us to use Google Now like shown in the youtube video as per OP. We have to
freeze browser (using titanium backup), change setting of language to "US English" (to not get that robotic UK voice) and redirect the search queries in the settings to "google.com" instead of "google.ca". It's just alot of steps to take to get this to work properly.
Essentially, If i do not do the above steps and use Google Now,
if i ask for "tallest building in the world" It will show me a list of browser searches....which is why Browser.apk is freezed to disable that feature.
Hope this helps clarify things..
I don't have to freeze browser or anything? I get the cards for searches. Are you running a ICS or JB rom?

Its JB, AdamG's rom. I get the browser searches as if I was searching in a browser...I want cards...
edit** ah, it seems like the "cards feature" only works for specific type of questions for me...more indepth questions sends me to a browser search...thats normal? and the voice doesnt speak back to me...how do i get that working?

Well, I tried this, restart the phone, it still pops up the browser (unless I freeze it)
rock with nexus s with xda app
I'm running chromi-x. My chrome browser's address bar search feature is somewhat hijacked...
<search term> goes to google/yahoo/bing (as set in settings) but it searches for: http://www.search-goal.com/?q=<search term>&affID=<somenumber>&babsrc=amob_ait
Has anyone seen an android browser hijack? Any idea how to fix? AVG A/V hasn't had any luck....
EDIT/PS: This is not happening in the default android browser.
Oops. Didn't read properly. Sorry. Forgot you said it searches the correct engine.
Edit: after a few Google searches, I can't find anything about search-goal.com, and the site has no information about itself either. My best guess is an app you installed is doing it. Uninstall anything you may have installed in the last week or so, and see if the problem goes away.
My suggestion would be to uninstall reinstall if that doesn't work, reflash the rom. I just went to search-goal.com on my pc and it looks dangerious. Im wasn't aware the homepage could be changed without user input, if you've installed any root access apps (essentially any apk files) id uninstall them.
Thanks for the suggestions. I tried uninstalling chrome. Got it uninstalled but had a heck of a time re-installing. It would NOT wipe /data/data/com.android.chrome. I finally removed that with TWRP. After reinstalling chrome it's still doing it. I've done an "install over" rom install (install, no data wipe) and it's still doing it. As much as I've tried to avoid it I think I'm going to have to wipe/reload/reinstall apps one by one. My last shot is I'm trying to find where the search engines are set up if it's a file somewhere to see if I can edit it.
Definitely malicious given the one time I tried to open it on a PC that I knew I could clean if I needed to it came up looking like a google clone.
Thankfully it's not actually loading that site so it's not doing anything but being annoying when I try to search.
same in my case -> solution
I had the same issue at my tf101 (at Team EOS rom) - and I was able to find the reason: in my case A.I. type keyboard app and the so called customized web search capabilities. When you remove this "feature" chrome search is back to normal.
Happy camper!

Many thanks be to timbetu! I shut off all my extra keyboards I was trying out. (FloatNSplit, GO, Hacker's, & Perfect Keyboard Free). That left the Android, ASUS, and Google voice typing turned on. Sure enough it went away! I was actively using FloatNSplit at the time. Will do some experimenting to find out if it was that one or another.
You have saved me from having to resetup my tablet!
:highfive:
EDIT: Also, dude, that's pretty awesome that your 1st post to XDA gets a thanks! Welcome to the forums!

I'm using floatnspin keyboard and that seems to be my issue. There is a setting for web searches and once I turned that off my browser worked normally again. I guess thats a new "feature".
Had the same problem, uninstalling the app fixed it. Please flag this app in Google play so Google can know about this! If you ask me, changing the default search engine without notifying the user is pretty nasty and malicious.
FloatNSplit and A.I. keyboard seems to be the same app.

I recognized this problem at my tablet and searched for an solution. During my search I found this topic here - but unfortunately without help. So I tried everything at my Asus and as I discovered the guilty app I just shared this finding with other affected users (because I knew of this thread).
