Photo saving - General Questions and Answers

I have an HTC Fuze which I updated about 3 weeks ago to WM6.5, Running X ROM from Shep. I can't seem to find any of the pictures I take. I've tried every option with the album, I've tried to delete the DCIM folder on my storage card, I've tried to locate the pictures in other folders, and nothing seems to be working. I even messed with the settings in Advanced Config and Diamond Tweak, and still nothing. I've now reset to the default settings in Advanced Config, and yes, still no pictures saved (or at least not where I can find them or see them. Anybody had this problem?

Camera software partialy broken

On my TD I've installed the advanced config and have been playing with settings and also with those of the camera.
Result is that now my camera doesn't save the picture anymore. After a picture is taken, the 'please wait" icon appears for like three minutes and afterwards the picture I just took is either not saved at all or completely scramble ( jpeg encoding error style)
But when I add a caller to the TF3D speeddial tab and take a picture, that picure gets saved perfectly.
I already tried to put the setings back to default, uninstalld Advanced config, swapped the save location (main<->card) but nothing has worked so far.
Does anyone have a suggestion other then a complete reinstall
tnx
have you tried to play with Diamond Tweak? it's almost the same as Advanced Config, but maybe it will help..
I would guess the easy solution would be to do a hard reset to restore everything m8...
First save all your contacts and sms's through PIMbackup or other similar software.
That's the easiest way...but he said that he don't want to reset the device..
Ok, if he doesn't want to reset the device...
But personally that's what I'd do. It's easier. It takes 1 cple of hours (reinstalling everything), but at least he would be sure that everything is 100% operational again...
I have tried Diamond tweak and of course a hard reset is in the end a possibility, but not for the next few weeks. (working abroad, no connection to exchange server)
I was hoping to solve it so I could use the camera again the next few weeks (and after off course)
And I find it intriging that through contact picture it will save the pictures the right way.
I have this exact same problem. Did you find a fix?
I take a picture and the rotating circle eggtimer pops up for a few minutes rendering the phone inoperable for the duration. It eventually resets and no picture is saved. I have Advanced config and Diamond TF3D config loaded.
Don't know why but I think it might be something to do with file save location conflicts. On the second camera config page it's set to "Storage Card", but on Advanced config Camera Save location is set to DCIM (having tried both DCIM (Default) AND My Pictures) and under Locations, Default storage location for image files is set to \Storage Card\DCIM. Wherever I point the image files, it's still exactly the same.
As the original poster mentions, contact photos still work fine, as do MMS pictures. Freaky huh?
Someone tell me I don't have to do the whole hard reset thang. I've made so many tweaks and programme installs I just cba.

[Q] Strange camera problem

I've searched for this here and Google and can't find anything similiar. Two days ago I tried to use the camera to take a pic and the phone locked up. The rotating "working" ring icon just went on forever. Reset the phone, and tried again, same result. I changed the image size to the smallest and it would take a pic, and the preview looked fine, but the image itself when viewed was a scrambled mess of green and purple. Kept messing around with it and it and discovered that ONLY pictures are affected. Contact pics are fine, burst mode fine, panorama fine. Even video is no problem. The preview in album is even okay. Took a couple of samples off the phone and viewed them on my PC and they were either the same corrupt image, or wouldn't open and I got an error saying "Invalid JPEG file structure: two SOF markers". I'd figure I screwed something up, but I have changed absolutely nothing about the phone in weeks. Thanks for any help you can provide, I greatly appreciate it!
try another memory card, or back up all the files on your current card and format it.
chances are your memory card is corrupted.
I've tried saving the images to the phone memory and get the same results. Also why would it only affect the full picture jpegs, and not the contact pic jpeg? I'm stumped. I've got another memory card at home, I'll try that and see what happens. Thanks!
If youre getting the same issues on your phone memory, you might need to update/reflash your phone.
If the problem happens even after that, look into Task29: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670358
Of course try the simplest fix first (different memory card) and then try these other solutions.
Are you using Advance Config? If so, or even if not, check under the camera settings and see if "encode portrait" is enabled. That seems to lock up our devices similar to how you describe it.
I tried the spare card last night and no change. I then tried SDreamer's suggestion and instant fix. Thank you sir! I really really appreciate all y'alls help.

Nexus S (FW 2.3.1), issue/bug deleting images/video's from gallery, keep reappearing

This is going to be a challenge trying to get my point across, but here goes.
Lets say i have one image/video in the gallery and i wish to delete this image/video, i mark it for deletion then select delete, the image/video seems to get deleted, i hit the home button and then re-enter the gallery and the image/video has gone, or has it? now, while still in the gallery if i press the back button to exit the gallery then start the gallery again the image/video is now back, it doesn't matter how many times i delete the image/video, it allways comes back, even afer a reboot, now here's the really strange bit, when i check to see if the files have been delete from the USB storage using a file browser i find that they infact have been deleted, but they still show up in the gallery, this behaviour occurs with all image and video files, camera files, received files over bluetooth, etc.
I hope you all can understand what i am trying to say and i hope i got my point across ok, btw, this is the second Nexus S i've had that exibits this issue, i've also done a few factory resets on both Nexus S's i've had, but this issue just wont go away.
This seems to me like it's a bug in Android 2.3's gallery app, does anyone else see this very strange behaviour? could someone test this on thier Nexus S? does Google know about this issue?
BTW, this issue only seems to occur when i delete all images and videos in all folders, or if i delete all folders that are in the gallery, i would have mentioned this earlier but i had only took one video and one pic to test the camera.

Phone wont see SD card/remember ringtone setting after reboot

This is a new problem... i originally deleted the settings for media storage after reading that that would get rid of the 3 times my ringtones were showing up in my selection list (when they only exist in one location.... i tried to make sure they werent duplicating themselves, the first 2 were silent and the 3rd was the real file.). so deleting that got rid of the 3 times thing, and i thought i had it licked. but every reboot, my phone forgets my ringtone setting... when i go to repick it, its not in the list, only the factory ones are.
Now, i *know* there is the work around of putting the one i want to use on the internal memory.... but thats kinda not the point... id like this to work properly. as it should. as it did before i reflashed. i reflashed the exact same rom and am using the exact same SD card.
upon googling and reading advice, i put a new folder on my sd card called media, and within there, ringtones, and notifications. (the site i read also recommended making one for alarms but i never use my phone as an alarm, ever. and the very rare time i will ill just pick a factory sound). As of right now, every reboot, i have to move the ringtone i want to use out from that folder, and then put it back in, causing media scanner to re-run, which then finally, once that is done, allows it to show up in the list along with the factory default choices.... but doing this every reboot just to have the sound i want is a ROYAL pain......... before i reflashed, it would forget what i had chosen on occasion, but at least then i could just go into the list and reselect it before... it didnt forget it existed, but only that i had chosen it. at the time that was a royal pain.... but now, id take that over whats been going on.
before reflashing i had a folder called "sounds" that it was able to see, all the time.... i had left it the same... but when my phone couldnt see that anymore, i looked for other ways of making it work.
Not sure if this is related but i have on occasion (2 or 3 times now) had my gallery forget about ALL of my pictures on external (whcih is where i keep all of them). deleting gallery data at least fixes that, and that doesnt happen every reboot either.
and before anyone asks, there is no ".nomedia" file in with my ringtones, or in with any of my pictures.
advice anyone??
anyone?? Ive already tried everything google-able

[solved] Ringtones and Notifications mysteriously missing

I have several custom "Ringtones" and "Notifications" files inside these folders and they would always be included on the list of available sounds whenever I wanted to select one as a default. Suddenly they are all mysteriously missing on any of the lists.
I thought perhaps I denied a permission somewhere that is preventing my Pixel from seeing them, but I combed through everything. I went into Settings - Apps - Reset app preferences, but that didn't fix it. Toggling on a few more permissions for storage didn't fix it either. I rebooted after everything and still no change. I also checked the permissions on both of these folders and they're correct. I even defrosted everything I previously froze in Titanium Backup.
Odd thing, they were all working just a few weeks ago and I can't for the life of me figure out what changed aside from the 7.1.2 update.
Does anyone have any idea what may have happened or where else I can look? It's not worth the bother of a factory reset, but I sure would like to have Pink Floyd back.
SOLVED: Well good grief, all I did was delete the files and then copy them back in. Now they're all showing up like they should.
