Trouble with Hard SPL - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hello this is my first post I'm writing because I'm having trouble putting Hard SPL
on my ATT Fuze. I have XP and I connect the phone to the computer and sync it
then open the SPL program go through the prompts then my screen on the phone turns off, the phone I believe also turns off and I get the error 260 a screen pops up on the computer saying it found new hardware. Any help with what I'm doing wrong would be greatly appreciated.Im kind of freaked every time I get up the nerve to do it and think I bricked my phone.

Did you install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 first?
Here is the link to follow steps incase you didnt see it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008

Hey thanks for your help after further reading I know I should have posted this in the right section and yes I have framework 3.5 installed I guess one question would be that I installed 3.5 to the computer do I install it to the phone? Also I have been reading the hardspl post I think one of the ideas is to first install the SSPL manual
to the phone is that correct? Then do the hard spl? If this is corect what do they mean by install it? run it? active sync? sorry just want to get this right

This is from memory - so if i miss something, sorry!
You shouldn't get any error messages when you connect your phone to the pc, regardless of what boot state the phone is in.
The manual jump SPL is to be used if your phone doesnt enter the correct state automatically from the RRU.
If you want to use the manual jump SPL, do this:
1) Connect your phone to the PC (ensure it can sync correctly - no connection errors)
2) Copy the SSPL_manual to the phone
3) (on the phone) run the SSPL_manual file
3b) Phone should now go to a blank black screen
4) Run the RaphaelHardSPL-Unsigned_190_1_3.exe on the PC
4b) Follow the PC on-screen instructions
**However**
you say that the phone turns black / screen off when you run the exe normally - this is supposed to happen. You shouldnt get an error here. (this screen off part is what the manual SSPL is going to do anyway).
**
If you still get problems, ensure you are connected to the computers USB port - not via a USB hub, take the SD card & sim out the phone. Maybe try a different PC, different USB lead - always make sure you are following the instructions very carefully - and if you still have problems, let us know & we'll try harder! - remember to tell us everything, if you try 2 leads - tell us! If you get something different, tell us what! You can never give too much technical info when asking for technical help - and the more you have tried, the more interested others become (we all like figuring out a problem!)

Beeble
Thank you so much for your help just to give you an update either way I do it
Manual SSPL or just run the Hard SPL by itself the screen goes black and I know
thats what it is supposed to do. Just to clarify at first I did not know the screen was supposed to go black so thanks for that. Again either way it disconnects and a screen comes up saying it found new hardware from that point at first I was scared to do anything else but but eventually I just clicked YES install the hardware hoping that after I did that it would not disconnect but even saying yes to the Found new harware it would say it could not install any hardware and I'm stuck
from there still getting the error
Again I cannot say enough how helpful people have been even if I have not been able to get hard spl on the phone yet

Mda compact with serial v1.02 screen

Hi everyone.
After much searching I seem to have got nowhere. Can someone please help.
My mda compact 2 starting playing up yesterday, rebooting on its own, so I tried to install the upgrade from tmobile (ruu charmer). The upgrader stopped and my mda now has a screen that only either says serial v1.02 or usb v1.02.
I've tried rebooting it several times in several different ways without any joy, the screen just remains the same. I tried connecting to my laptop via active sync, but its like it doesn't exist anymore!
I'm about to give up after hours of trying to fix it, so any assistance in very simple terms would be much appreciated!
problem solved
Seems like my problem must have been too basic or too common for anyone to bother to help, so I did some searching myself throughout this site and elsewhere.
However, what I found was thoroughly misleading and unhelpful.
The error messages are also inaccurate and totally misleading. Error 274 might mean pc can't connect to pda, but it also means other things, like your using the wrong upgrade firmware!!. Having serial v1.02 or usb v1.02 on your screen does not mean its a grey and black brick(useless), its simply the upgrade mode screen.
Basically, I made an error in choosing my upgrade. I chose the wrong firmware package from t-mobile thinking what I had was a mdacompact 2, when it actually was just a mda compact. This error was the main issue, yet from this forum I had the idea it could have been a number of things.
One important thing to remember is adhering to all the instructions regarding the installation of the new rom.
Don't bother unless you do the following:
1) Make sure you have a good connection via cradle or usb lead when doing the download.
2) Make sure you close all unnecessary programs on your pc.
3) Dont touch either your pc or the mda during installation.
4) Don't give up after you read misleading rubbish on the web.
5) Make sure you download from the web the correct upgrade firmware!!(very important in my case!)
6) Active sync is not totally necessary during the process.(I turned off usb connection in its setting during my installation).
Hey
I have the same Problem
i tried updating the software on the phone but now i get that screen..
Im still stuck on what exctly to do, I've been googling it for hours!! HELP!!!

HELP

Hi all I know there's been many a post about being stuck in the bootloader and I even went to the wiki to see what to do.
Firstly, when following the wiki (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Uni_Stuck_Bootloader) on the mtty_utility there is no option for USB only comm 1, 2, or 3 (am i being stupid?).
Secondly, I had a guess and tried all the comm's and eventually comm three seemed to be the only one working, but when I type in the commands it does not do anything.
Any help would be greatly appriciated as I would hate to see my uni go its been so good to me.
Thanks in advance
Jo
Please help
The USB option is at the very bottom of the list. Unless your PC isn't registering the ports, you should be able to get MTTY to work for that part at least.
Thanks for the reply but there wasn't a USB option, I've tried everything, I think it may be to do with vista continuously wanting to run mobsync.exe whenever I plug the uni in but there's no way to stop it.
I've tried ending it as a process but mtty still doesn't have the option of USB.
If you have any ideas please post them, am I right in beleiving that you cannot charge in bootloader mode? Or is that just off the USB?
Thanks
Jo
P.S. The laptop I'm using can read other things through the USB ports, and I have tried every port just to double check that they are not all on the same line (ie an internal hub).
I think it may have something to do with Vista... I'm not sure as I don't have a Universal...
If you have access to XP it may be faster and easier...
I think you may be right
I shall wait untill my housemate gets back in, if it doesn't work in safemode!
Cheers for your help anyway!
I shall keep all informed just in case anyone else ever has this problem
Got it working!
Right finally got it working! It took some time but I managed to revive it!
1) Connect your device in bootloader (Hold light button, power button, and reset),
2) Open Windows Mobile Device Center and in connection settings uncheck Allou USB Connections,
3) Goto contol panel-administrative tools-services and start windows mobile device connectivity and windows mobile device 2003 connectivity,
4) goto device manager and find your device and update the driver to the one that can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=313001&highlight=vista (it is the one in the modem folder, do not follow their instructions, it will not work in this case),
5) Open task manager and kill wmdc.exe, or anything with wm infront of it, also kill mobsync.exe
6) Goto: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Uni_Stuck_Bootloader and follow the instructions (you should be able to see USB as an option now).
In mtty it took a couple of commands before it actually executed then once finished it looked as though it were completely dead, but connect the uni to the comp again in bootlaoder mode and all should be well!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291723
PS could someone put this in the wiki under the title "If mtty does not have the USB option in vista" I'm being a dunce and don't really know how to do it

Unable to make phone calls

Hi,
My girlfriend recently bought an XDA Orbit 2 which has WM 6.5 install on it.
Everything else on the phone works perfectly and without issue but she is unable to make phone calls correctly;
The phone will be able to dial out and establish a connection but no sound can be heard by either party even though both phones say the connection is there.
This can be resolved by a hard reset, however this only last for about 10-20 minutes before we lose all sound once again.
Can anyone shed some light onto this for me?
One thing that always screws up phone calls is the radio on the phone it should be a 1.59.xx.xx to check it go to start => setting => system => Phone Information => Software Information. Will find it there also while you are there what 6.5 rom is she running on it as if its not a stable one it may be worth updating it...
Should the .xx.xx be anything in particular or just stay as .xx.xx?
anything in particular i use the stock one (with the default rom) which is .42.15 any should do the job though...
Ok the radio on it is 1.58.25.14 which im asuming is wrong. How do I change it?
This a custom flash thingy ma bob wont hard reset the phone when you flash it => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376119
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426203
Is the radio i am using and imo the best for signal/ battery life.
How to do it.
1.Download both
2. Put the nbh file in the same directory as the custom ruu
3. Put the phone into bootloader (Start + OK + Reset whole on bottom, hold the buttons until it show a red green white blue screen)
4. plug it in to computer (let the drivers fully install)
5. Start up the Polaris_Custom_ruu.exe
6. Follow the instructions, shouldnt take too long to go through and flash
7. it will reset and you will have a nice shiny new radio and hopefully no more call problems.
All i will say now is what an idiot for selling the phone in that state... (may actually be the reason it was sold lol)
Im going to sound ike a total idiot now but I have no idea what ruu is or nbh or where to put it or what a bootloader is.
Could you possibly put it in moron speech Chris?
LOL well honestly i thought that i had already done that....
Have a look at the files that you download and then it will be explained.
The RUU is the thing that will do the flashing to the device
The nbh files contains the information of you download the stuff and follow the instructions you will have the result that you want honestly i cant think of a simpler way of doing it
Ive also put 2 screenshots to try to help you (one has a different radio but you get the idea...)
Also give this a read but i feel it may confuse you more..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381600
Its a noobs guide to flashing and has all of the info that you need to have.
It does give one point that it has to have SPL-2.20.Olinex on the screen but i would guess this is there as you already have 6.5 on the phone.
Awesome, thanks chris I will get it done tonight after work and let you know how it goes, if it fails I have no doubt I will be back complaining about my lack of phone savvy.
Hey Chris, just to let you know that it worked perfectly, thank you for your help it was much appricated.
No worries glad that it worked as if it didnt then i would be out of ideas...

new to flashing phones...

and i have a few questions before i get started so i dont end up bricking my phone.
first, i tried to hardspl my phone WITHOUT a hard reset on the phone and it would not connect to the phone - kept giving me errors. do i NEED to hard reset my phone before i flash the hard spl?
second, i have read in a thread (i forget where or which thread) that you need your phone in the "flash" mode (i forget what its called exactly, but to get to it on my HTC TP2, you press and hold the volume down button and then press the power button (i believe the hang up button is the power button))... do i need to be in this mode for hard spl and/or when i flash whatever rom i decide upon?
third, the ONLY reason im doing this is to upgrade touchflo 3d to version 2.5. my verizon touch flow is very lack luster and monochromatic. i see these screen shots people post of the new touchflo 3d (manila) and wish to use this instead of what i have now for touchflo. has ANYONE made a cab of touchflo 3d 2.0 or better yet?
thanks and happy flashing.
Welcome aboard
Have a deep read here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540
If you follow instructions all should be ok.
Good luck,
thanks, but i have read that and that is the thread i read where it said something about flashing the hardspl after a hard reset, and it confused me, because no other hardspl threads mention having to do this.
i tried following along without the hard reset of the phone, but it would not connect to the phone. i have the phone connected via usb and in windows mobile device center, so i dunno why it wont connect.
Check in settings-connections-usb to pc that you have unticked the 2nd and last option, reboot pc and tp2 and try again.
On simpler terms you have to have checked only the 1st option
Hope it helps,
you mean change those settings on the pc in windows mobile device center, right? or on the phone itself. i just checked my phone in the settings where you said, and it does have a usb to pc applet on the phone, however it does not have any of the described options to uncheck.

[Q] Galaxy Ace (S5830i) headache with stock email deletion

HI guys, I'm hoping you can help me with a problem that's led me to start threatening my galaxy ace (S5830i) with a hammer.
Actually it's not the phone's fault it's purely my own stupidity, but none-the-less I'm here for help because I've spent all day and night trawling the net, trying to figure out how to proceed to resolve my issue on my own but I simply cannot make sense of the conflicting information I'm finding.
I promise you thing thing if nothing else, I have tried my very best to read around a hundred other forums, pages, and how 'to's but I'm finding that I have no resolution that I can work with because either:
- The tutorials turned out to be for the S5830 - not the i model - when I got to the forum
- The youtube videos all seem to be spoken in accents I cannot understand or not explained clearly, or are too technical
- Links I go to to get apk files etc are broken, wrong or leading me up another path I cannot follow
- Software does NOT look on my screen as it does on tutorials or websites (SDK for example)
- The people explaining the resolution type with such poor English I cannot understand what they're actually saying
- The solutions that work for others are too technical or advanced for me to understand and I'm finding it difficult to learn as I go (apart frm the root instructions which I found quite easy)
Anyway, I'll start at the beginning:
I have a samsung galaxy ace (S5830i) running:
- Gingerbread 2.3.6
- Baseband version S5830iXXLK1
- Kernel version 2.6.35.7
- Build number GINGERBREAD.XXLK3
I've already rooted it so I have superuser access, and I managed that perfectly well on my own
I installed titanium backup and somehow I managed to uninstall the stock email that comes with the phone. I think this is my problem because I now cannot download anything from google play, nor can I add a new gmail account to do so, so I'm stuck in no mans land not able to use googleplay (because my gmail account is now missing from my phone) nor can I seem to figure out how to get th apk file directly into the phone so that I can start fresh.
I'm also absolutely stuck on how to flash the phone and start again because nothing I seem to read is explaining it in simple clear terms that a layman can understand. When I do find a simple explanation, I find it's only for the non 'i' version of the phone, or if I find a simple instruction it's zip files for the rom do not contain all the files I need to use with odin v1.5
Also, there are conflicting explanations on flashing the rom on different forums/sites so I dare not use one over the other because another one contradicts it. I do not want to ruin my phone as right now it still basically works for now as a phone.
In my phone menu, the gmail icon is still there, just not the icon/app that said "email". The icon is now missing from my menus and with it there is now no way to use the play services without a gmail account on the phone.
When I click the gmail icon, it stats to open and then just shuts off quickly, not opening gmail, so I'm pretty sure all this is due to me deleting the email app using titanium backup.
Make sense?
What I'd really be grateful for is if on of you guys could help me out and explain in very simple terms what I need to do to either install the apk directly (preferred) so that I can add a gmail account to the phone and get access to google play again, or failing that a simple how to flash the rom with stock gingerbread, together with links to software that's known to be bonafide.
I am literally being driven mad going around in circles on forums and sites to keep going back to square one.
Any help will be very gratefully received. Or I'm afraid this may mean I'm going to smash my new phone int a wall and never use a smartphone again, because obviously I'm too stupid to play around with them on my own.
I really appreciate your help if someone would be able to invest a little time here.
Thanks very much for your time, guys
Jobeeey
additional info
Right, these are the instructions I found on this forum, but I'm unclear if I'm approaching this right..
Flashing s5830i with Odin v1.85
1.Turn off the phone and put it in Download mode by pressing Power+Volume Up+volume down.
2.Open Odin v1.85.Run as Administrator!.
3.Put the files in Odin and don't touch the settings
4.If it's a one-file firmware put it in PDA section.
If it's multiple put the files in the correct section.
5.Click start and don't touch the phone!Don't turn off computer and don't unplug the phone! It will reboot automatically and the first boot will take some time,so don't panic!
Click to collapse
I've found a rom (which is a single file) and if I'm reading this right I place that in the PDA section of Odin after installing the usb drivers onto my pc (done that and windows recognizes my phone in the sense that it isn't now hassling me for drivers every two seconds).
Ok.. so I seem to have got the correct rom for my specific ace model.. and the instructions seem to be that I now:
1) Connect usb cable
2) Boot my phone into download mode (I can do that I think).. but at what point do I press vol down to download a new os.. before or after pressing start in Odin?
3) Open Odin and add file as in my attached screenshot (I can do that)
4) Click 'start' in Odin
5) Wait for my phone to reboot
And that should be job done, the phone should be flashed with the stock rom again and that should get me back on track, right? Or am I about to screw up my phone and ruin it even further?
Thanks for reading. I hope someone can advise if I'm doing this right as I've seen other forums say that I should tick the 'Re-partition' box, and other that say I shouldn't, and this one says nothing about it at all.
This is one of the tings that's confusing me, and once I'm now flashing a phone for the first time it's flippin scary to do it on my lonesome!
This is what I mean..
I've just tested going into download mode with odin ready, and the phone gets there (vol up+down + power on).. but each time it gets into download mode it seems to disconnect from odin and no com port is open. I get the windows device disconnected/connected beeping and the connection seems to sever.
What the Fffff...
This is exactly what I'm talking about.. nothing seems to be working like it's meant to be and I'm getting nowhere with any instructions I can find after god knows how many hours researching this.
:crying:
update (lol)
Mornin all,
So, just in case anyone finds this useful..
The flashing problem is kind of irrelevant now because:
A) Odin (tried several versions) simply will not stay connected to my phone when it boots into download mode, and having checked many tutorials for this it sees that this is a problem some of us cannot get past.
Anyway, one of the methods to resolve this was to wipe the cache and clear all data etc, which I did, and now my phone is stuck on the "pres the android" screen, and my phone will no longer get past that. Tried pressing clockwise in all four corners but still nothing.
No probs.. so we move on to a new step of trying to split the roms via cygwin, but guess what? Every single time I try to download the cygwin files, that freezes at about 98% and will not download, no matter which mirror I select.
So, this is what I call a curse that isn't going to be lifted by me no matter hat. It's not not meant to be.
Therefore, what I'm going to do is take it to a local shop that unlocks mobiles and give it to them to flash back to stock rom for me.
If that doesn't work, do you know what I'm gonna do?
Nothing. Because there's nothing you can do when the processes do not follow the same progress as they do in the tutorials.
I hope other novice S5830i users save themselves all his time and trouble and don't bother following the same process and become locked out of their phone at the touch android screen.
Update
Yipee,
Right, I stumbled across a solution that worked for me.
What I did was get my 2gb msd card that came with the phone and slapped MindCR v1.0.12 on the card and whacked that in my phone (this bypassed not being able to get a new rom on the sd card as it wasn't unmounted before the crash, so my pc wouldn't recognise the date to put it on via the pc).
Then I updated the rom from that 2gb card (vol up + menu + power to get into recovery mode) and it took it a few minutes to update the firmware and give me back the full use of my phone, and with a shiny new os on it. Whoop!
I didn't bother with CWM as I'd forgotten to add it before flashing, but it worked none-the-less and I'm now back in business (wiped it manually).
As it turned out this version of MindCR works really well so far as I can tell. I realise there are updated roms now but I've come to the conclusion after the scare I had that if you're not entirely sure what you're doing, it's best to leave it alone if it ain't broke.
SO.. now I have a phone with what seems to be a better os than the stock and less bloatware on it, no phone problems I can see after thorough testing... and from what I can tell it turned out to be better than it was before the disaster.
And I learned a bit in the process. Like for example, don't feck around removing apps from smartphones with titanium unless you've backed them up and you're prepared to stress out for over 20hrs wondering what to do about it.
And, also, don't expect much help from a forum because you may not always get it. << That' not a dig at xda by the way. It's just a BIG forum so your threads may not be seen by the right person before they get buried in past pages.
Hope my little journey helps another unsuspecting S5830i user who comes across the thread.
