I just installed W7, and after a lot of googling, still can't figure out how to flash my phone from it! I downloaded and installed Windows Mobile Device Center, and it syncs successful. How do I flash my phone with it?
I tried the regular old way, but with that RUU doesn't go past the progress bar screen. It's stuck at 0% for some time, then gives me an error.
Please help.
In my Windows 7 everything is ok while I'm flashing ROM. You must use this version of Windows Mobile Device Center:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=46f72df1-e46a-4a5f-a791-09f07aaa1914
Hmm, yes I'm running the same version.
Do one thing, connect your phone Active Sync mode, and open Device Manager and check whether your phone comes under 'Mobile Device' or 'Portable Device'.
It comes under Mobile Device
This Guide works flawlessly, i just did those steps half hour ago as i reinstalled my win7

Make sure your device is in bootloader mode and connected to your PC BEFORE starting all these steps!

In the guide it says: "Expand the 'Mobile devices' section and click the 'HTC USB Sync' (or similarly named) item."
My phone comes under 'Portable Devices'. Because of that there's problem installing the drivers.

Hello guys!
I've got a bit of a problem here, because now my mobile refuses to connect with activesync and therefore making it impossible to flash it.
I read the readme in the cid bypass folder, and didn't quite understand it, but as keen as I was on getting a new rom I did it all wrong.
I actually copied the cid bypass folder to my sd-card and ran haret.exe from the phone. A friendly penguin appeared along with some green text, and it rebooted and went black. I waited for a while, but had no patience so I rebooted it again. But after this it has been impossible to connect it with activesync! I've tried hard reset and different computers but nothing works!
I'm hoping someone on this forum can help me!
best regards
Try this.
turn your phone off and press the camera button in then plug it into the USB port
you should get a multi color screen. If you do then you can flash.
But go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330909
Go to where it says EDIT and follow what it says.
Oh and when a dos box opens up and ask you things just press the return key each time.
good luck
hey man, I tried reflashing the original rom to my vox, with the manualstyle sd card flash. So now it's flashed with the original rom, but still activesync doesn't work! anybody have an idea on how to make this right?
somebody tried running haret.exe from their phone, then flashing the Uspl with ruu flasher and then flash the new cooked rom?
My phone is not able to connect for flashing while in black state (after running harET), is it stupid of me to reboot it and start it by holding camera button while plugging it in to the computer? and then flash it with the ruu?
somebody please help me?
go into settings then connections then more till you see USB to PC
in there un-tick the box which says enable advaned network.

I am confused..is it working or not? one post you say it is but you cant sink..then you say its not.????
and dont use the flash off the mem stick..use windows..
ok, sorry for making confusing posts! I'm just excited about getting it to work.
So here's the situation:
From stock phone used with exchange (turned off the exchange part before doing anything)
1. I ran haret.exe from my phone, and it rebooted into a "black state" after which I rebooted it again
2. I tried to connect it to my computer using activesync, to be able to flash, but it wouldn't connect. Activesync doesn't respond to my phone.
3. I flashed the shipped rom to my phone from my sd-card in good hope that it would reset the whole process, but it still won't connect to activesync.
So here's my problem; I want to flash a cooked rom to my phone, but I'm unable to connect it to my computer via activesync, what to do?

tried with both ticked and unticked, still nothing
Turn off your phone then keep the camera button pressed in at the same time plug it into the usb port
your should show diff colors on the screen..if so follow what it says in this link.

and do it from the pc not your mobile...
it's restored, but no activesync still
Is the cable you are using ok? or is it a new one you just got.
does windows see it when you plug it in? if so un-install active sync then reinstall it.
I'm having the same issue with Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM, activesync simply doesn't work ;/

Have you been into settings and un-ticked the box in USB to PC?
Also if you are trying to sync to office you must create a new partnership
google is your best friend.
I have no problems with sync in XP/Vista?windows 7 and office 2007
I am using FMs 1.1 WM 1.1

I failed to mention that I've tried the hard reset as well, no luck.
I thought about the same thing Deuse, but there's no mobile device registered, so I'm not able to delete it.
It seems that you have tried every possible method! Anyway, my suggestion is install activesync in some other PC (friend's) and connect your phone there. See if it registers the phone. If it does then it is problem with the PC and not with phone. In that case, connect phone to PC and open controlpanel>System (icon)>Hardware tab>Device Manager Button in your PC. Unfold Network adapters and see if your phone is detected properly or it is detected with an "!" mark in "Unknown/Other device". If so, delete the device and disconnect phone. Reboot PC, reboot phone connect again and let the PC reinstall your device and see if it recognises your phone.
One more way (I think you might have tried this)- Uninstall Activesync and reinstall and connect phone.
By the way if your phone is not recognised in some other PC then it seems trouble with the phone.
Thanks.
Looks like your cable is faulty. Try activesync connection through bluetooth (for testing, ofcourse you cant flash from bt ).

(I posted this in the guide to installing s-off etc etc but yeah I don't know if anyone's going to pay it any mind there :S If I was wrong to create this, I'm sorry ><)
Hi,
I keep getting a Communication interrupted error. I don't know if anyone else had this problem and can help me? I'm a n00b with this s-off thing and I triple checked with like 4 different websites to make sure I'm going the right way with this.
Doing this on Windows, I got the HTC driver, removed anything that would sync the phone to the computer, everything going well up until this point:
Zerging Root... this may take a minute or so..
Sending in Caroline...
Cleaning up...
Rebooting to fastboot...
Whien life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take back the lemons
Waiting for fastboot...
Rebooting to fastboot (again)...
Communications with phone unexpectedly interrupted. Try Again.
Press (almost) any key to exit.
What's wrong with it?
also:
I put on the USB Debugging, I turned off Fastboot, and yes, I checked - it is still S-ON *sad*
HTC Sensation 4G (pyramid-1.17.0008, Android: 2.3.3, ROM version: 1.29.531.2)
I have tried with the fastboot on as well
As for these troubleshooting methods, I've been through it over and over:
Revolutionary Hanging on "Method 3"
1. Make sure you have installed all the drivers from above.
2. Please Make Sure you have HTC Sync uninstalled and Droid Explorer uninstalled.
3. Install These Drivers HERE:
4. Basically anything and everything that will allow your phone or other phones to automatically connect or sync to your computer has to be uninstalled
5. Try another Computer or Factory Reset your device as a last resort.
I've tried 3 different computers (I have no access to anyone who has a Linux computer) I've factory resetted my phone twice + my SD card. I really don't know what else to do
I've tried it in Charge Mode, and HTC sync mode as well.
Can anyone help me? :S
you have to do it in charge mode, make sure fast boot is off, and here is the tricky part, ANY app that could sync with the fone, needs to be uninstalled.
for me Zune kept messing with the install cuz it kept trying to sync...
Also, make sure your HBOOT is compatible with the version of revo you are using
so try this:
1) uninstall itunes (and other apple device software), zune, and any htc software (plus the stock drivers)
2) reboot
3) clean the registry (regclean or something similar)
4) reboot
5) reinstall stock drivers then plug in the phone (charge only) and let the pc detect the hardware.
6) unplug the fone and reboot the pc
7) NOW try to S-OFF, should work, this is the process i had to take
Thanks, i tried everything you told me and it still won't work. I'm running out of ideas. Isn't there another method I could go through so I can just flash a custom rom. Lol...
if its unbranded, you can try the HTC method, but im not a fan of their approach to it...revo is much more user friendly in the long run...
also have you tried disconnecting all usb devices other than the keyboard, mouse and phone? also try doing a battery pull and leave it out for 10-15 seconds, and give it another shot
also, what ver of revo u using? the latest? and whats your hboot?
EDIT nm, saw your hboot etc in your first post long night at work
also, this may be a super stab in the dark, try another cable if you have one, just try to eliminate any possible issue
This exactly what I had with my Win7 tappy lappy. Its the "sucky usb stack".
Then I used a win xp 32 bit machine no problems.

yeah, apparently win7 is giving different users this problem, i used WinXP SP2 32bit with no issues
Yup. Definitely related to Win7 64 bit version for me. Although the user didn't report what version they were using.
It's also worth remembering that all USB ports aren't all the same.
I have to use the ports on the front of this particular 32 bit XP workstation for some operations and the ports on the back for other. Magldr for my HD2 never works on the front.....
Like Rev say in their FAQ... there's something about the USB stack on windows that sucks. Not surprising really when we're talking about interop between such dissimilar operating systems (Android vs MS Win). Its gonna be a headache sometimes.
I'm on Win 7 32 bit, when I tested Revolutionary my device wasn't detected at all.
Rebooted many times, installed drivers and did lots of things and still nothing.
I changed USB port, and it worked xD
Try different USB ports and another USB Cable in-case
Gd luck
Edit: Just found out that you tried 3 different computers... Sorry then, if I come up with anything I'll tell you
Edit 2: Can't he try it on Safe Mode? Maybe it would help?
safe mose wont work, the usb stack works even less at that point :/ go windows!
worst case scenario, get a liveCD of ubuntu and boot it from BIOS, thats the easiest alternative to trying on windows

I'm having the exact same problem as with the poster of this thread. I've tried a fresh install of xp sp3 via vmware on my macbook pro. I've also installed Ubuntu but can't even get the revolutionary.exe file to open. Linux is too foreign for me, can anyone help me with that?
I had to use HTC sync mode in order for it to work on Windows 7 64 bit.

listen to this, his situation was WAYYYYY worst than yours, and he got his fone working perfectly and S-OFF'd
By flashing, I assume you do mean using the revolutionary program? I will try this process a little later and will post results. Thank you
i also had this problem when i wanted to set my sensa s-off. i run the tool several times and i always got this error message. So then i plugged of the phone, plugged it on again and then the tool says my phone is already s-off.
i boot the phone into bootloader and yes, the phone was s-off, on top is the revolutionary text and the bootloader version is 1.17.1111
So I was following this tutorial: youtube.com/watch?v=jcp4pP5hJIc&list=FLtqiX2Ucq289tObh2PMsn5g&index=1
and I had no problems till 4:21. After the bootloader screen my computer doesn't recognize the device and in the cmd prompt is says "waiting for device." Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
And in my device manager I have: Android Devices
> My HTC
if that helps.
It's usually safe to stay away from YouTube tutorials for our phone..can you link me to the Rom thread or say the title of the rom
Here is the thread I was following: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952038
It was sucessful up to step 6. And it loaded into bootloader but once in bootloader my device disconnects.
basically when my phone enters the bootloader menu my phone isn't recognized.
You have the att one x right? One sec lemme look at that thread
yup
Did you get the set acid message that was mentioned in step 6?
yea i got everything and everything works but as soon as it rebooted into the bootloader screen my phone disconnects and the computer can't recognize it.
use this app and uninstall the entries for your phone, the drivers probably just need to be reinitialized. the app does not uninstall the physical drivers just how they are setup this will work for any usb devices you are having trouble.
USBDeview v2.21
So after trying to find a straightforward guide for installing the USB drivers for my OPO, almost every link says to use the OnePlus One toolkit, so I followed the 'manage drivers' section of the toolkit but for some reason, whenever I come to use my phone with my PC, the drivers seem to wipe themselves out! After I've done the initial driver installation, everything works fine, but after a day or 2, when when I plug my phone in, it will show 'unknown device' or it will show 'A0001' but with an exclamation mark next to it in the device manager and my phone isn't recognized. I'm using windows 7 x64 and the original red OPO cable.
I must be doing something wrong with these drivers, does anyone have a guide for deleting old drivers and reinstalling drivers for the OPO?
Edit: Ive reinstalled them again using the toolkit guide but I dont know if they will keep again, either way, im flashing blisspop now, maybe its an issue with 5.0 stock rom or something?

I had similar issue with lollipop ROMs, didn't find any solution except flashing fastboot images of CMOS12 or simply downgrading to CM11S.

Fair enough, well i'm thinking I may move back to CM11S if things don't work out on Blisspop. If I turn off USB debugging and then switch to camera (PTP) mode and then back to MTP mode, my phone then connects fine. I wanted it to connect so I could copy my Titanium backup files off the phone and onto the PC. In the end, my mate told me about Airdroid and I managed to download them through that as a ZIP file. For some reason, the titanium backup folder isn't visible from your computer, I tried copying it to the DCIM folder and it just gave me a 1kb file. I also tried a new folder called backups and it was empty when I looked on my PC, but the files were visible when using Airdroid and also when I used a file browser on my phone.
Weird stuff!
Just wanted to bump this and see if anyone has a solution or even just an explanation.
Whenever I plug my OPO into my PC (with the original cable), the device, A0001 is found but is shown in Device Manager with an exclamation point. If I then right click on it and chose uninstall, and then reconnect the phone, it will connect and work fine for MTP/PTP modes. If I put USB debugging on, the MTP doesn't always work after. But no matter what, if I shutdown my PC, and then come to connect the phone the next day etc, I have to do the uninstall of the driver then reconnect for MTP to work. Pretty frustrating!
Anyone know why the phone isn't remembered by my PC correctly? I'm on Windows 7 x64 if that means anything.
I'm moving back to stock ROM soon so I'll see then if its something to do with the unlocked bootloader or using a custom ROM. I'll report back if I have any luck
Bumping this again, its still the same on 6.0. I don't fancy moving back to stock ROM, I like CM over Cyanogen OS, but this problem is really frustrating. Every single time I connect the phone to the PC, it will come up as A0001 but with an exclamation mark next to it in Device Manager, if I right click and uninstall the driver, then reconnect the phone, it works fine then. But if I restart my PC, it does the same thing where it cant find the right driver for the phone.
Is there anything I can try to fix this?
Similar questions to this have been asked before but got no replies so, in desparation, am asking again.
Bought my phone second hand. On starting, it shows the Vodafone logo so assume it's branded.
About Phone -> Software Information shows:
Android Version: 2.3.5HTC Sense version: 3.0Software number: 2.10.161.5
HBOOT shows:
*** UNLOCKED ***SAGA PUT SHIP S-ON RHHBOOT-2.00.0002
Now for the problem:
I'm trying to set S-OFF and root the phone but my PC, running Windows 10, is unable to communicate with the phone when it's in Recovery mode.
The entry for My HTC under Android USB Devices in Device Manager disappears once I start the phone in Recovery mode and connect it to my PC via a USB cable.
At this point Device manager on my PC shows under USB Controllers an entry for an unknown USB Device (Device failed enumeration) and the Hardware Ids show as USB\UNKNOWN.
I'd really appreciate someone familiar with this area throwing some light on what could be going on here and perhaps giving me some pointers on how to resolve this.

Thanks for replying but, following the links you gave they all ended with a brick wall. Using VirtualBox I tried using Window 7 and even Windows XP. All attemprt failed miserably.
In all cases Device Manager showed the MyHTC driver installed under Androis USB Devices and working normally. Running command 'adb devices', when the phone was running normally, worked fine but USB connection is lost every time when booting into HBOOT, making fastboot etc impossible.
I've reached the point where I can't waste any more time on this having wasted far too much already. I don't like giving up but this has got me.
