When my phones running and I press the power button once, Windows gives me the option of turning the phone off, it doesn't go into sleep as it used to, and should. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it? Thanks.

after updating my t-mobile compact with latest JAM firmware power button wont turn off screen.. Light ON/OFF is working (while hold) ? but when i press power(no hold) it do nothing ... so i cannot switch screen off
I am having the same problem EXCEPT that I have not installed anything. What is wrong with the device?!?!
I know this doesn't solve your problem, but as a temporary solution to switching off your device, check out my program VJKeyPress

you can use it to switch the device off, although I imagine the hardware problem is more of a concern.
Try backing up and then hard reseting?

Searched around for a few hours and I haven't been able to find a solution, so I'm turning to XDA as always.
I was using my phone earlier today, and like always, tried to "sleep" the phone by tapping the power button at the top of my phone. My screen stayed lit and for whatever reason it wouldn't sleep, so I'm trying to figure it out.
I can't deduce if it is a hardware issue or something weird with the software or ROM that I am using. I've never had this issue before, and I'm not sure how to diagnose/fix the issue.
Sliding the keyboard awakes the phone, and I am able to use the touchscreen and keyboard with full functionality, but I am not able to turn off/sleep the phone with the power button. Any and all possible help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all so much.
does the power button work?
does the phone drift off the sleep when you set it to sleep after 1 min of inactivity?
take out your battery put it in see if u can turn the phone on with the button if u cant its broken.
I have a Fuze that wants to shutdown all the time. I usually run EnergyRom on it and the slide to shutdown screen keeps popping up. When I run a stock rom on it, it also shuts down, as if someones holding the power button.
has anyone ran into this issue or have any idea how to fix it? I've searched for a while and can't find anything.

Opening up the phone enough to get to the point that you can remove the power button itself and clean that area of the phone should fix the problem.
This even helped me on my previous phone where I thought the button was losing sensitivity. After reassembly the button worked beautifully again.
I had the same problem...and then all of a sudden my power button stopped working altogether...its weird because it works fine to turn the phone on, but once it boots it doesnt turn off the screen or bring up the shut down menu or anything
how did you manage to remove it to clean it out?
All of the sudden today my htc with cm9 stoped turning on with the boot button, the only way of turning it on was taking out then putting in the battery, does anyone else have the same problem? and i know the boot button is working, because it worked in the morning
i think i broke my button somehow, but it was working just fine... and forsome reason my phone knows that the only way to turn on my phone is when i put in the battery... it just turns on byitself i need help :S

new edit: i think i jammed it because, in the bootloader when it askes me to use the power button, it would go by itself, how do you unjam it..? i can still press on it and feel that im pushing it.. but when im on my phone it doesnt randomly turn off so it cant really be jamed...

I've only had The Razr HD (Telstra Australia) for about 4 days. Whenever I put the phone into sleep mode I have no idea how to wake it???
I press the power button nothing happens. I hold down the Power button nothing happens. I press the power button a few times nothing happens. Wait a minute or two and press the button again still nothing. Eventually it decides to wake up when I press the button at the correct time... Though how this is determined I have no idea.
A) I'm doing it wrong?
B) I'm too Impatient (When long pressing the option says "Sleep Low power, instant on, wireless off" Am I misinterpreting the "instant on"?
C) My phone has an error somehow?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, The phone is standard don't have any apps on it that I can see that would cause a problem, have experience with a Nexus one and Galaxy S1 which were both rooted and running ICS so feel I have some idea of what is going on and this doesn't seem right?
