I found this the other day, it works great, just assign it to a hardware button and while you have the program who's calss name you want to know open, just push the button you mapped it to. Works like a charm

I have an app which autoclose if any other program is launched so the app indicated is no worth in this case. Do you know a solution to discover that program's window class?

I suggest Dotfred's TaskMgr (http://www.dotfred.net/TaskMgr.htm) to find the window class. It's very reliable.
In the Processes page, tap-and-hold the process that you want to find the window. A menu will appear... select Details.
This Details page will show the process' Modules, Threads, Windows and Heaps. Select the Windows tab and browse to the window that you want to find the window class.
I use this method to create my personal scripts in MortScript.

have any of you run into this problem...where you receive double or triple text messages from someone and visa versa...its really irking...if so is it the provider or is it the phone??? thanks in advanced...
I've heard that programs such as SPB Pocket plus that actually close programs instead of putting them to background mess with Palms messaging app. You have to blacklist that from any close button software and the problem *should* go away.
@marsonist
what do you mean by having to blacklist that from any close button software? i'm facing the problem as well which is annoying...
I guess my suggestion only applies if you are using software that really closes programs when you hit the 'ok' button or the 'X' symbol on the top right.
Normally when you hit either of these the program doesn't really close, but instead it is sort of minimized. You don't see it, but it is still actually running in the background. Programs like 3rd party programs like SPB Pocket Plus make the 'ok' button and 'X' symbol behave like they do in windows... when you hit them the program process is killed.
These programs have system function processes on an ignore list so that you don't kill something important. Palm's messaging application is unique to Palm and doesn't show up on these ignore lists. So, if you have one of these tweak apps installed and go to close your Messaging program it throws it out of whack.
Most of these tweak programs, however, also give a way of manually adding programs to an ignore list (name of the list or setting will be different from program to program.) I believe Palm's app is called messaging.exe... add that to the list and you should be in business.
If this is still not making any sense, post a list of installed software and we'll see where we can go from there.
I get you now, Thanks marsonist! will try your solution and post the result
Thanks again
Hey Marsonist, thanks for the quick reply...well i have magic buttons, smartkeys, and X-button...i also get an error report message when i receive a text from time to time...i usually use the smartkeys to close an app...can you point me in the right direction to solve this...thanks again...
RiNo808 as far as I know each one of those programs when used in conjunction with the Palm Messaging app will cause problems. For Smartkeys, there should be an INI file in the same directory where it was installed. At the bottom of the INI you should see this:
; if you set CLOSEAPP to 1, the program will hide the following
; apps (by title) instead of closing. Other apps will be closed.
; maximum can set 16 apps
[EXCEPTIONLIST]
APP00=Text Messages
APP01=Outlook E-mail
APP02=Hotmail
APP04=MMS
APP05=Contacts
APP06=Calendar
APP07=Camera
Add "APP08=Messaging" without the quotes to the bottom of the list. This should keep smartkeys from closing the Messaging app.
I am not familiar with the other programs and recommend you go research their individual settings on how to exclude the Messaging app.
FYI: Smartkeys uses the title of the running program in for its exclude list. (i.e. The name you see next to the windows start menu flag) Other programs often go by the name of the running executable. (i.e. the name of the EXE file as you would see it in File Explorer) So for the case of Palm Messaging, "Messaging" is the title and "messaging.exe" is the name of the executable (located in directly the /windows/ directory). What I listed above for smartkeys should get you started. This info might come in handy, however, for the other two programs.
Let me know if any of this helps.
thanks Marsonist, so far so good...no complaints of multi texts...i guess we have to keep the sms open on the treo...thanks again...
A free simple utility for automatically closing applications when you return to the home screen. More details here: AppCloser v0.1
tried it, it doesn't work for me for some reason.
i put it in the program files folder, made a new folder called AppCloser and then dragged the program there and put it, hit home - then opened an application and then hit home. then for testing purposes, i checked the task manager, the program was still running.
is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Is your phone completely application unlocked?
To install it (just to recap):
create the folder \program files\appcloser and copy the .exe and the apps.txt into it (like you did )
check out apps.txt, add or remove exes as required
start appcloser.exe, and press home to return to the home screen (not ok, as this closes the program)
appcloser should now be running and will close the programs in the list that are running when you return to the home screen.
It could be that there are bugs but I dunno.
i've just tested this on my Excalibur and it worked great for exe files that are in the \Windows folder.
i tried adding appcloser.exe to the list so that after closing the other programs it would close itself...it didn't. i also added Explorer.exe which resides in my Storage card and it wasn't able to close it
Suggestions:
a separate white/blacklist would be great
add a kill all option except the whitelist
Thanks for this application.
uccellino thanks again
What I've actually done was I made the app folder as per the readme, then I've placed a shortcut into \windows\startup, which is actually pretty useful, it still asks you to press the 'ok' or 'home' key at start up, but at least this way you don't have to browse to the app's folder everytime you want to run it.
Thanks for your feedback dark0 and oldsap I'll try and see if I can make it a bit more professional when I next play with it
I thought it would be good if I press red (disconnect) button then the program or folder is closed but if I press home button then the program is minimized to run on background.
I could choose to automatically close it or let it run. Normally both buttons let programs run in background while returning to home screen which is kind of confusing to understand why it operates like that.
i know that there is a program out there that does it havnt tried it but a friend of mine that has the dash has tried it and says its a headache...
i think its calles "vito something another"
is there anyone that knows of another program that integrates it into the menu?
eg. u press menu then see "select" to go into selection mode then hit menu again to "copy" or "paste" is there anything like that out there?
Vito Copy&Paste. It works excellent. Inside of a text box, press and hold your middle d-pad button, it will bring up a menu that allows you to make a selection of text to copy. It's freeware.
And don't forget smartoolkit . The copy\paste function in it is very good.
But running only Vito might be more stable.
I use both SmartToolKit and Vite Copy&Paste since Vito is easier to use, no issues with stability here.
ok guys ill give it a try
thanks
Is there any way to map vito copy/paste to other button except the press'n'holding the central joystick button, because I use xBar as a task manager assigned to that button, and author of xBar didn't release new version of xBar to support copy/paste in wm6.
Or is there any alternative to xBar till they will release new version?
What are you using as a task manager?
SmartToolKit has a built in task/processor manager. I use that, it's bound to the right soft key and lists all running applications, processes and allows you to kill them.
I don't like SmartToolKit, is there anything else?
I have over 100 apps installed on my Leo.
When I need to uninstall program, sometimes I need to waste much time until I find that program in Uninstall list, because there it usually begins not with a name of program but with Author's nickname or Company name.
It would be very useful and convenient, if there were small window for typing.
Type in one word that you remember from program's name, then press button [Filter], in you see only programs which name contains that typed word.
Can anyone create this?
use sktools, that app has filter/find feature
Yes, SKTools Installed Programs feature can do that easily and because it also shows the program icon you will find this issue is a thing of the past.
I'm trying to make my first android app with kivy...
I made a simple window with a textbox, a button and a list: the user type something in the textbox, press button and the list is refreshed showing the new item (textbox text)
it's very simple, but it's just a test.
I used sqlite+sqlalchemy for the db because i plan to grow the app in complexity and the kivy storage api does not fit my needs.
This program works on my computer (classic... hehe) but crashes when i package with buildozer and deploy on my phone.
The problem is that I'm creating the db with
Code:
engine = create_engine('sqlite:///test.db', echo=False)
but if it's ok for desktop, it is not for android...
where can i create the db?
doesn't the app lives in the /data/data/com.blah folder?
why can't i write there?
thanks all
How to use Kivy + Sqlite on android mobile?
I am stuck exactly as the same stage as you were in 2015.
Since no one has replied to your post, I am guessing that you must have either worked it out yourself or you must have got the solution from another forum.
I would like you to share it if you have the solution.
