Blog program for Leo? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Anyone who knows about a blog program for Leo? I used iPhone before, and had a genius blog program innstalled. But I cant seem to find anything for WM 6.5/Leo.
Any ideas? Thanks for looking/helping

I would like to announce that I am a new proud owner if the HD2.
secOndly I would also like to know of blogging software as I hve a blog at http://blog.levifreeman.com

That is because on iPhone there is an app for just about anything and for windows mobile nothing, i too made the mistake and switched from an iPhone 3GS to an HD2 and regret the day i did it. On iPhone i had all kind of great apps, games etc and now i cant find anything equivalent for windows mobile. The marketplace is a joke. I am searching for a week now for a good financial program with nice and touch friendly interface and i cant find anything. If you look on the appstore for such a program you can find hundreds of them. I will definitely switch back to iPhone, but the only thing i regret is that HD2 is such a marvelous device and is let down by windows mobile.

I agree and not agree with you savvase. I love my iPhone and the apps on it, but I think its to earli to get so hard against HD2 and windows mobile. I only use mac, and until now have I had iPhone, since 1 gen. (upgraded to 2gen and 3GS) When the 1 gen iPhone came, the app store didnt look like it do now today. It didnt take long time before the programs came, but I think we should give W marketplace a chance to build up. Even if iPhone is big on the mobile market, its many WM users also. I dont says it will turn into a big sucess, and it will overcome the iPhone. If the "wanna knowers" are correct, the WM 7.0 will release next year. Who knows? It might be a big surprice for us?
I miss a lot of the apps on my iPhone (the reason to this thread ) but I think I will manage without a lot of them, while I give the HD2 a chance. For me the HD2 has so much other goodies, that I will keep it for a while and test But ! I will also keep my iPhone in backup
If my english is broken or bad, I'm very sorry. Its not my national language
But ! Is there anyone with a solution to my problem?

Unfortunately i don't think you can find such an app on windows mobile and if one arrives it will definitely not have the same functionality and user interface as the ones on iPhone but since you kept your iPhone you can continue updating your blog from your iPhone.

Thats true !
But until it shows up something, I belive...
And ! keeping my iPhone for blogging...

There are also tons of financial apps for Windows Mobile. But unlike on iPhone, you have to search for them on the internet yourself. The marketplace for WM just started and you shouldn't expect to find the same amount of apps as you do in AppStore.
I think both platforms have their advantages and disadvantages.
If you use iPhone you can download anything from AppStore real quick. But on the other hand you are limited to AppStore, unless you "hack" your iPhone.
On Windows Mobile you don't have such a nice AppStore (not yet, might come, who knows ), but you're also not limited to it. You can download and install anything you find from any source you like and from any developer you can find. That's also nice.
And with more and more "touchable" Smartphones based on WM, you'll also find more and more fingerfriendly apps.
You must see, that the iPhone is only one kind of device, which developers create apps for. WM is found on tons of different devices, each with different ways for data input. Some have touch-abilitys, some don't.
It's quite the same thing as the comparison of Macs and PCs.

What about MobiBlogr - not sure if its compatible with HD2 but its here: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-mobiblogr-v1-3-3.html

Thanks jengla, I will have a look at that.
I used Blogpress on iPhone, and I hoped for a similiar app for WM. I have tried three blog programs for WM now, and two dosent work propably, and the last one, is to simple.

Marketplace is going to be for Windows Mobile 6.5 phones only, not back-ported to Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.0 phones. That's right - the millions and millions of Windows Mobile phones out there today (40+ million I'd say in the past few years alone) will not have access to this forthcoming software directory. Only people that buy brand new phones, or perhaps a tiny percentage that will get a 6.5 upgrade for their phone, will be able to access this. They might as well made it available only to unicorns - both are mythical at this moment in time.

... Apple made the App Store available to not only new iPhone 3G owners, but first-generation iPhone owners, and owners of both first and second generation iPod Touch owners. For developers, that means millions and millions of customers that are only a few taps away from trying, and buying, their software. Overnight millionaires were made by the Apple App Store because Apple put it in front of so many customers at once. This is the right way to do it.

... They finally get around to doing an application store after an early effort got deep-sixed by their own corporate culture, and what do they do? They make the choice to limit it to users of phones that haven't even been made yet - with Windows Mobile 6.5 not due on phones until Q4 of this year, and with phone networks (in North America at least) carrying seemingly fewer and fewer Windows Mobile phones than ever, it seems like the Windows Mobile Marketplace is going to have a rocky start. ... This was Microsoft's best chance to woo developers back into the fold, and they've botched it - badly.

Lastly, some of you may know that an XDA-user initiated a WindowsMobile Apps store some time ago, codenamed "Gecko" (an unfortunate name they just wont give up, despite it heavily branded connected to Mozilla's web rendering engine that's been around for years)

I followed this for a while, and there was UI development from various contributors, as well as underlying code. Not sure where it stands.

I appreciate all the wonderful information but I'm not looking for it in a consumer capacity. I already have 6.5 loaded and running and would like to see the WinMob Market Place as a "research project", for lack of better words.
I'm not sure I quite understand what you mean by research project?

iphone App to Windows App search

hi,
I recently recently left WM (Touch HD) for an iphone (32GB 3GS)....however, I'm going to be switching back to WM as soon as the HD2 is available because as much as the iphone is an incredible interface...I find it's functionality to be lacking.
now, sadly...I have fallen in love with the apps store. I was amazed at the range and quality of the apps available...like the advert says, 'there's an app for that'. and it's true there is an app for just about everything...and I've found some great ones that I really want on my new WM device.
so, is there a site anywhere that will let me find WM comparable apps to the iphone? I can type in a name of an app available on the iphone and it will give me WM versions?
if not...should I build one? would anyone be interested such a site?
Microsoft is going to open their own "AppStore", called Marketplace for Windows Mobile, in two days.
The HD2 will already have it preinstalled.
However, it is not known currently how many applications will be there when it launches.
Apart from the built in Marketplace, you can find applications here at xda-developers and at sites like handango.com, mobihand.com, pocketgear.com, freewareppc.com and many others.
There's not as many applications for WM as there are for the iPhone, but since I recently switched back from the iPhone 3G to the Touch HD myself, I can tell you that I don't miss anything.
I think with WM6.5 and the Marketplace, the number of quality applications for WM will grow rapidly.
I am looking forward to the MS app store, as the iphone one is a dream to use. so I REALLY hope it's up to scratch.
I can think of a few apps that I'm going to miss hugely though.
1) facebook....considering how much MS paid for a piece of facebook, you would have thought that they'd built a decent app to give access to it
2) Sky tv. I have an iphone ap that allows me to scroll through program and then just select one to record...simples....however there is no such app available for WM sadly
Windows Mobile 6.5 actually has a decent Facebook app built in.
And the newest version of TouchFlo 3D, as you'll find it on the HD2, will take Facebook a lot further than what you can have on the iPhone, with direct integration into your contacts list (same for Twitter, Flickr and Youtube). This, like so many other things, will never be possible on an iPhone, because of Apple's restrictions.
Notice the Facebook logo among all the other WM apps:

I don't know what Sky tv is, so I can't help you with that one, sorry.
thanks for the pointer...I will have to apologise for mentioning the iphone so many times in my recent posts...I am a WM fan at heart, but I just hope it can become the all conquering OS that it should be.
and apple would be all conquering, IF they let people customise their phones instead of locking them all down.
still...come on HD2.....I am ready and waiting with cash!!

[REQ] Windows Mobile 7 UI for HD2

I think the biggest difference between WM7 and WM6.5 is UI. Picture Gallery, Zune Player and XBox Live aren't a big goal.
I hope somebody can modifie SPB Mobile Shell 3.5+ or write a new UI and we'll see WinMo7 UI in our WinMo 6.5 devices
well if WM7 does come to the HD2, this won't be needed
but i'd like to see this as well, if possible!
WM7 with htc sense, one like in android with loots of cool widgets, spb mobile shell lacks lots of widgets.

I belive HD2's are supposed to get a free upgrade to wm7...?
We all know what Microsoft are like tho, if there is any way they can squeze any money out of us, they'll try
Wanted to ask, will it run ok on the HD2 when its released? I've heard thats why they've beefed up the new US version (basically everything x2 plus 16gig on board mem ect..)
Any ideas anyone?
Hello There,
if WM7 UI avaible for WM6.5, we'll have all cool things of that two OS.
WM6.5's Multitasking and customizations + WM7 UI (ohh sorry... does WM7 has good things except UI )
SPB is launching MS 5.0. Saw its alpha working, pretty amazing 3D quality desktops and loads of widgets. They are skipping 4.x releases.. Expect something in May....

From what I understood from the webcast conference from the Barcelona mobile event was that WindowsPhone7Series has been re-written from the ground up. All brand new code designed to run on the specific hardware that Microsoft has required for partners to be elidgible.
I may have mis-understood <shrug>

actually, they're not exactly "skipping" the 4.x release. They just skip the number 4 because it's bad luck in Asia.... But really, really looking forward to MS 5.0!

Well, would be easy to just put a fullscreen pic of wm7 on the hd2 and take a picture though :/. Smells fake?
Indeed bluebird!
I now realize that (i) the homescreen that was displayed yesterday on Microsoft booth is not even exactly this one.... and more importantly (2) in Barcelona 3GSM where this phone is supposed to have been spotted there is no '3G T-Mobile NL' network!!!
Not to mention the fact it says Foto's instead of Pictures

[Q] Lack of tablet-optimized apps frustrating

I really want to embrace Android tablets in general and the Asus Eee Pad Transformer in particular, but I'm really on the fence here. You definitely get more hardware bang for your buck than with iPad, and I appreciate the relatively open ecosystem and freedom from iTunes. However, what really frustrates me is the apparent lack of tablet-optimized apps. If I'm shelling out $500+ for a device, should I really have to scour the web for lists of apps that run on it in tablet mode? I definitely see the allure of the iPad with its slick user experience, despite its closed ecosystem.
I know, I know, Android Honeycomb is new and there will be optimized apps for it, but a successful tablet experience is more than just the hardware, and many, if not most, users won't want to buy an expensive tablet for its potential, they want something that works now, with easy access to apps that they can trust will work on their device. It's a chicken-and-egg story, really: without Android tablets becoming more popular, dedicated apps will lag behind, but without the apps, will Android tablets really take off and be a serious competitor to iPad?
</rant> ;-)
Thoughts?
Ron (wanting to buy an Android tablet, but being wooed by iPad 2)
There were no tablet applications for iPad at the beginning either (and phone apps are mostly worse on iPad than on Android tablets because they don't scale). You have to wait until developers get their hands on tablets - right now only Xoom and Transformer (sort of) are out.
Just like everything else that's new...
Blueray didn't have very many Blueray DVDs on the market the during it's inception.
HDTV as well. I was quite dissappointed to have bought a new HDTV when most of what I was watching was only available in non-HD.
But anyone developing software will for the most part follow the money trail. Ipad has been the #1 choice, but it is very apparent that Android tablets are catching up quickly. And when the market trends change to favor Android tablets, then so will the development base.
There are only a handful of apps that are really useful and the rest is the Android tablet experience and the community that encompasses it.
They didn't name Apple's hack "Jailbreak" for no reason.

there is nothing slick about a boring experience, and ipads are boring to use, with rows of apps that you can scroll from side to side and when you click on them they open! boring ,boring, boring, outdated and getting more outdated by the minute.
I think IOS is about the same that android 0.5 was back in 1941
I have a Xoom and have had it since launch day. Trust me, we have already come a long way with tablet apps and compatibility. Day 1, I think there were around 10. New ones are released almost daily and developers are announcing that they are working on others. By this time next year there will be so many, you will not be able to easily decide which ones to install
You can help expedite tablet optimized apps by writing the developer of your favorite Android app and requesting an update. You may be surprised that many of them will respond to you that they are already working on it.

Will audio MMS ever come to Windows Phone?

Really WTF?, I am amazed by the fact that something as simple as this can not be done on a so called smart phone that is supposed to be leaps and bounds ahead of WM.

I miss sending simple MMS to people and don't see what the big deal is with MS not allowing this, I mean you can send video which includes audio but not audio it's self does that make any sense? I mean they even have apps in the market place that lets you down load free ringtones, are the developers at MS smoking crack?

I would too but I would never go iPhone nor Andriod; I think that if I were ever to jump ship, I would just get a cheap talk and text phone. I just don't get why MS is trying so hard to be like the iPhone when the real competition is from Android
Seriously Microsoft? You can't send video MMS either? What the ****? Jesus Christ !!! What the **** can you do with this phone?

Never say never...come to the dark side lol....why not? they jumped shipped on wm & it users. MS only competion is themselves, they went iphone clone to get beat out by an wm clone, have crappy marketing, dont have alotta devices, & wp lacks many standard features. They shouldve scrapped the windows name and/or had commercials like to they did for pcs showing how easy is it to use.
Not to mention setting up MMS to work for an unlocked Windows Phone is almost like impossible. I think I will regret buying the Radar and will just be better off selling it

I don't blame you, there is a large amount of people that are going out and buing WM devices and ditching WP, if this doesn't open up MS eyes then I don't know what will. For one they need to stop fagging around and stop trying to be like the freaking iphone, 2 they need to get their heads out of the cloud, most people don't want to use that **** and 3 they need to listen to what people actually want, their answer to every question is "That is not possible at the moment".
