How to remove stock apps - G1 Android Development

I am in the forum for my phone and there is not a QandA forum as I was told from my previous closed thread. The QandA I need would obviously be within my phones section which is here. Either the mods are incorrect or the forum is organized incorrectly.
How do I remove stock apps such as Amazon, calendar, gtalk, etc. ?

dont it can stop you from getting past setup screen and other probs..
But this is the wrong section im not sure if you using a dreaming or some other non-htc andro phone.

posting a second thread after the first one is closed is not the greatest of ideas .. try the Q&A section and search bar .. but some of them should not be removed .. but not even sure why you want them removed

Post What Where:
General - general technical discussion items, news, anything else that does not fit into the other fora categories.
Q&A (Questions and Answers) - all questions, irrespective of type, get posted in here whether they be theme related, accessory related, technical, etc.
Accessories - any items to do with components and/or accessories relating to your device.
Rom Development - only meant for very advanced technical discussion directly related to ROM development activity and the delivery of actual ROMs and ROM components ONLY. Nothing else goes in here.
Themes & Apps - anything to do directly with the development of themes and/or applications. Nothing else goes in here.
EDIT: BEFORE POSTING ANY THREAD IN THE DEVELOPMENT SECTION, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:
If you have developed a ROM, or are working with others to do so, the development forum is somewhere to discuss and share ideas, post useful feedback and logs or crash dumps, and to discuss a common goal developers are trying to achieve.
It is NOT the place to post your question because it gets higher traffic, or because more experienced users frequent it. Doing this just annoys those who are working on the device, and drives them away. Developers don't want to wade through 20 threads of "Help me urgently" to find their threads for porting and fixing camera issues etc. Similarly, if a thread is designated as discussion for developers say, porting a camera fix, please do not post in there asking "When will it be ready?", "Can I flash this yet?" etc. This is both completely disrespectful to those working on the project (you evidently haven't read the important posts in the thread), and also is making it harder for developers to find comments from other developers or testers when required.
Similarly, don't make loads of "Thanks for your work here" posts in an active development thread. It's just as annoying to developers as asking when something will be ready. If a ROM is complete, then go ahead and thank the developer if you wish, but don't go into threads for devs only, and interrupt it to post "thanks". It's basically spamming, and is treated as such.
If you are posting in development, you should have read every sticky and notice there, and should be actively developing or helping in the development of something. Developing isn't installing a ROM, or using a tweak, it's creating a ROM or other hack or tweak. If you haven't read for several days before starting out on XDA, you are likely about to ask something already solved. I registered on XDA when I first wanted to post, and that was to join in a discussion on something. Sure, join up and ask a question, but read the information available in General and Q&A first, as your question will have been asked before. Search is your friend here, become familiar with it.
Regarding when to post in development if you are not actually developing something, there is one occasion where it's acceptable. If you find a leak of a new ROM, which isn't already posted, and you verify it's legitimacy via either running it, or based on the source you obtained it from, then this is assisting in development, and should be posted in development. If you want to ask when a leak will be available use search first, then if not already in discussion, open a thread in general or Q&A.
If you have a problem flashing a ROM, this is NOT related to development. It's up to you to determine if it is specific to a particular ROM, and post useful information in that developer's existing thread for the ROM. If it happens on more than one ROM, and isn't a known issue (remember you should read several times more words than you post), then find out what you are doing wrong. Check guides written by others, try to repeat the problem and see if it happens every time. Something needs to be reproducible to be fixed effectively.
Once you have identified what you need help with go to the device Q&A forum (general if device lacks one), and make a clear, informative thread that explains the issue, and what you have tried doing to fix it. Did you re-download the ROM? Did you ask a friend to flash it for you, to reduce chance of user error? What steps (exactly) did you follow? What errors did you see (exact wording)? Did you double check all the steps? Did you do a wipe or hard reset?
If you make a clear, concise, yet detailed post, you will find help forthcoming, and should get the problem sorted very quickly. If someone suggests you try something, report back on what happened, did it work etc. Then, next time someone has this issue and searches, they will find this and have a verified and tested solution.
So remember... before you start a thread in development, ask yourself what you are developing. If you can't answer, then stop, step away from the post button, and think about where you are posting. Would it be better in General or Q&A, or is some more time with your best friend, search, required?
Did you post and now you can't find it?
1. Try looking at your previous posts by using the link below (replace *userid* with your userid)
Code:

or go to your profile and it is under statistics.
2. If you can't find it, it was probably deleted.
3. If you think it was deleted DO NOT POST about it. PM neoobs (me) and I will try to find it. If it was deleted by mistake I will recover it for you.
If you start a thread asking where your post/thread went, I will delete it. If you start too many of these threads, I will ban you for a week.
I am locking Tutorials to try and keep them clean, Please try to add a page to the wiki or add to another page (all hero tweaks under the page for their specific rom) with what you posted.
If you need a support question answered PM me and I will reopen it.

So, this is some epic idea. Now I need to spam in different random threads to get 10 posts so I can post feedback in rom thread that I've just installed on my HD2.
I know an answer to this question. I also happen to know other forums that have 0 spam and don't have this "epic" idea. Some don't allow to psot for 24 hours after registration and that is all...
What I fail to see is logic behind this. I need to spam in general sections to post legitimate feedback...
okay.jpg
We get complaints about that rule all the time. However, it is in place for a reason and is not going anywhere. Furthermore, 10-post spammers always have their junk posts removed, and by creating this thread you've only managed to flag yourself as an account to watch for such spam. Simply answer some questions or contribute to the forum in some way and you'll be to 10 posts before you know it.

I think the moderator has to, you can edit your post and request the delete and mark the reason why.
or you can report the post and request it be deleted...

ok thanks guys.
Thanks for the help.
Contacting a moderator just to have one's own post edited or deleted? That is a far more 'suboptimal' procedure causing more work and wasting more time of both members and moderators than what is necessary. Every other board on the planet has a simple button for editing or deleting one's own posts, so what is supposed to be the 'reason' behind this peculiar restriction?

Threads do not get deleted here, they can only be opened or closed.
The Moderators here do delete posts, but only under specific conditions, they don't delete posts just because you want it removed.
You can edit your own posts to remove whatever you want from your posts but you have to leave at least 2 characters.
The way I do it is I delete what is in the post an leave .. in its place.

Hmmm ... looks like a case of «what are all the other boards on the web doing wrong and only we doing it right?», because it would be cleaner and leave threads with less clutter if one could cut for good what is no longer needed/correct and will only confuse people, would it not? nevertheless and be that as it may, thank you for the explanation and suggestion.

The Reporting Feature is also used for closing a thread as well...
There's really nothing wrong with using the reporting feature for a thread and isn't negatively viewed by a Moderator/Administrator to just to simply close it.
The following steps are the best way to have a thread closed by a Moderator (and they prefer to be asked by the specific member who opened the thread... that's you).
{FYI... The Moderators prefer not to delete a thread unless it's necessary to do so. Closing a thread keeps the information available for other members to learn from it as well.}
1) On the first post, select the bottom left triangle (reporting a post).
2) When the next page loads, select the reason on drop down section (at the bottom left of the text area), then select the one that states "Thread/post moving or maintenance".
3) If it's because your question was simply answered, then type the reason within the text area. Something simple like "Can you please close this thread because my posted question has been answered." (you can also tell them that "Ibuprophen is awesome" LOL!).
4) Finally, select the "Send report" and you'll then be taken back to the thread. Your all set!
The report is then listed on cue for a Moderator. It typically takes anywhere from 10 min to a day or two. The Moderators are very good and are pretty much on top of things.
Reporting a thread isn't intended as a bad thing. It just elevates having to send call-outs and PM's to a bunch of Moderators till one is available.
You've now graduated from the "Closing a thread 101" course! LMAO!!!
Good Luck!

UNLESS asked to do so, PLEASE don't PM me regarding support. Sent using The ClaRetoX Forum App on my Enigma Machine {aenigma = Latin for "Riddle"}.
Thanks, that was a nice tutorial on an indispensable functionality on any discussion board. Have a sunny afternoon.

That's all well and good for closing threads, but having posts deleted isn't going to happen unless the post violates one of the XDA rules and gets reported to a Moderator, if there is no violation, the post does not get deleted, even if reported. Instead, it must be edited by the poster.

That's the shortcoming of the system, for which your little « ... » edit is probably the best workaround under the circumstances. Nevertheless, simply being able to delete one's own posts would leave threads looking less cluttered and be a quicker and more elegant solution -- especially when information provided in a guide or tutorial becomes outdated and leads to confusion.
Well, since there is nothing we ordinary mortals can do about it, I thank both of you for your input, maybe one fine day the powers that be see the light.
The best solution in this case is to be silent

[Completed] [Q] how to quit participated threads?

Hi, i wonder how to quit participated threads. I am using xda premium 4 app for catching forums, and i am usually use participated tab. But there is some unnecessary thread like just wanted to ask is it for my devices. So i am all time seeing this unwanted threads. How can i unfollow them?
You may think its related too app, but it uses pc sites rules. I can see my participated thread on pc site too.
Thank you very much.
Hi,
You can't. That's just how the site works. But the subscription section is made to track only what you want. Anytime you respond to thread, it's added to the subscription section, but unlike the participated section, you can un-subscribe to anything you don't want to follow.
Hope that clears it up. ?

There is some buttons in participated threads in pc site, like silence buttons. What's their purposes? Is there for silence thread but don't work, or there is just not option?
I recommend you ask about it here, cause I know no way to quit participated threads.

[Discussion] General discussion thread for all custom ROMs

Hi Fellow Members,
Seeing many post on the development threads in all section which are not completely relevant with the development but sometime due to normal bootloader unlock, FRP unlock, root issues, even normal discussion on OTA etc which flood the development thread sometimes and if a new users come up with any issue or any question, they need to repost as the thread is long and extending multiple pages and they could not find the solution or answer of the same in all those pages, even though answered few times but due to more number of pages or just because new users are not aware of how search works on XDA they repost the same thing.
So, I though of creating this new thread so that we can discuss all development related and little off topics related with ROM in this thread and keep the development thread clean enough so that it is purely for development related questions and really critical and important stuffs with sufficient logs etc.
Please continue discussion on any ROM, recovery, TWRP etc in this thread and lets keep the development thread clean enough.
I know its probably irrelevant to Rom discussion. But i need serious help here . For past few days whenever i fry to open a page for browsing it is showing an error msg
