Question about video playback on the Leo - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

I saw this video a while back
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14iRsFcN1Qs
and noticed that the htc gallery was playing videos. Are all those videos in mp4 format? I thought they were originally AVI and thought that HTC put in DIVX support for the Leo, but on my Leo it's not finding any of my DIVX vids in the album. Any ideas?
Coreplayer works alright, but without graphics drivers it does have a hiccup in the framerate every so often even with the might of snapdragon.

HTC's albums have never played DIVX I'm afraid.
The ones in the album are probably MP4 or 3GP files.
Search for a utility called MP4forHD which someone on here made - it converts anything to MP4 - specifically for the Touch HD (which is the same resolution as the HD2).
Works a treat, and wasn't laggy on the HD - so I imagine it'll be better on the HD2

Yea guess I was just fooled by the DIVX watermark on some of the videos that were played in the link i posted. I thought I read somewhere that the HD2 played DIVX videos natively, but oh well.

Coreplayer is playing fine for me now - no skips once I increased the video and audio buffers (2048/512 I think).

Core Player
On my HD I could play AVI files using Core Player, on the HD2 the same files play the audio but the viseo is:
1. In small screen very "liney" and doubled, 2 images side by side.
2. In full screen the screen is blank.
Any ideas?

Change video output to GDI from Coreplayer settings.

Now Coreplayer works for me. Thanks for settings

I did the test and played the same movie:
- in Avi with CorePlayer,
- in mp4 AVC with the HTC album
And there is absolutely no comparison. The Mp4 played through the HTC album viewer is far better, thanks to the hardware acceleration and the Snapdragon processor.
I uninstalled CorePlayer, and convert all my .avi movies with XDA HD Encoder, or directly with Xilisoft Ultimate.

core player stuttering while playing avi

hi.. I've just bought a D2 and installed coreplayer. I dun seem to be able to play anything smoothly. Can some one provide their settings for a smooth playback please ? thanx for your help
It's hard to help without having any info about your ROM,Coreplayer version etc. I guess it's a bitrate problem that is just too high. Generally, DIVXs downloaded from internet or DVDRips are meant to be played on PCs and I never managed to play them smoothly directly in Topaz. My solution is to convert (everything is automatic) video files with HTC Touch HD Video Converter. You'll get a smooth and detailed playback on Coreplayer and HTC Album.
My Coreplayer 1.3.0 b.6213 video settings are:
Video output: QTv Display
Video quality: High
Smooth Zoom: On

Core Player

maybe u have to set "directdraw" instead "qtv" in video settings
Actually, I do not understand why people want to keep on using Core Player.
The best movie player is already embedded in the HD2 itself in Photos/Videos album, because it has hardware acceleration.
CorePlayer is now a very old-fashioned software (2007) and the latest versions (1.35 and 1.36 are quite buggy).
Play your mp4 with the HTC video player and you will really see the difference.

yes true but to play divx or xvid files, coreplayer is still the best one,you dont need to convert it in mp4 and 1.36 is working just fine on my leo without bugs
where is the HTC video player located on the phone & will it play AVI files?
where are these setting changed?

menu/tools/preferences
select page
/video then change qtv to raw framebuffer
i got coreplayer to work perfect only with these settings
in preferences-->select page--->video---> than select GDI and smooth zoom
any different setup would show pixelated image(video)
While we're talking about CorePlayer, can it show subs? If so how?
Have searched through every settings now but i can't find any settings for subs.
If not, is there a player that plays DivX Xvid's with subs in srt or sub format?
CorePlayer plays almoast everything i can think of, and are working fine on HD2 here to.. Is CorePlayer dead now or what?
i don't think coreplayer can play subs , but tcpmp can...however i didn't try it on my hd2 and don't know if it works
tcpmp works fine set to either gdi or rawframebuffer
not tried subs but they should work too
biggest benefit of tcpmp over coreplayer is the price

Tcpmp works, you can use srt (and I think smi) subtitles. You have to use GDI as video driver to see them.
Colors
Do you like the colors of coreplayer (or tcpmp) out of the box?
I had to change them to custom, raise the contrast a bit and lower the brightness.
I find HTC album images a bit too dark instead (but I can't change)

ummm......ain't wma files audio only files?
For those who might be desirous to buy CorePlayer 1.36 I strongly recommand to be patient.
Indeed CorePlayer 1.36 is a dying software. CoreCodec is currently finalizing a version 2.0.
It would be useless to waste €30 on v1.36 now and probably have to pay later for v2.0.

AVC/h.264 Playback

Hi.
Is there a way to watch AVC/h.264 Videos on the HD2?
I've tried it with different Videos from nfl.com, for example this http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/09000d5d814c6a83/NFL-GameDay-Patriots-vs-Dolphins-highlights - ripping it from the website first and saving it on the storage card of the HD2. Core-Player says it doesnt support AVC/h.264. The default Multimedia-Player on HD2 freezes on loading the videos.
It would be great to have a way watch this kind of videos on the hd2.
Thanks in advance and regards.
strange you say that. both coreplayer and the default player from HTC can play AVC video for me.
Strange... then maybe is something special about the videos on nfl.com. They arent playable on both on Core and HTC-Player.
I re-encoded the clip. Its still AVC - but a different profile. The HD2 now plays it.

Viewsonic 720p MKV File Lags While Playing

Hello Guys,
I have used both Vegant and Latest TNT 2.2 and both lag while I play 720P .mp4 encoded videos downloaded from youTube, I'd like to know if its a software or hardware limitation? Does anyone else have the same problem with 720 .mp4 files from youtube? Does it lag (as in audio and video lose sync - audio plays faster than video).
ive incoded some 1080p bluerays using handbrake normal preset H.264. container mp4 also had to do this with 1080p .mkv files couldn't even get them to play otherwise. after that they played great on my tablet
The Tegra 2 chipset cannot handle h264 encoded as high profile. Main profile works fine. I know this confuses some people, but grab the excellent "mediainfo" tool (http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en) and you can see how your file is encoded.
MP4 containers seem to work best, although I believe Rockplayer can play MKV's with hardware acceleration.

[Q] Medium bit-rate HD h264 playback

Hey folks, I was trying to watch a video on my TF101 that I made with my Galaxy S II today, it's a 1920x1080 17Mbit/sec h264 video file. MX player won't play it in hardware. Any way to fix that?
Try Dice Player with the tegra plugin.
Freemake Video Convertor
Easiest converter I've used....take your 1080p file select 720p mkv or what ever other extension and press convert. Might look into the audio settings a bit more tho. (I haven't yet) but the audio comes out not as loud...
Then use MX video...with HW video and SW audio.
Also this might save you time if you try the converter...don't use the Android setting...didn't work for me...wasted 4 hours (slow laptop).
Swyped using my Pinky
I really didn't want to have to transcode the video.
Diceplayer didn't work, even with the plugin. It was a stuttery, frame dropping mess. At least in MX, it plays in super slow motion.
For me, BS Player seems to be the best for playing HD mkv files.
It's not an MKV file. It's h264 in an MP4 container recorded by my Galaxy S II phone.
Did you try playing it in S/W mode? I've had to use it for 1280x720 videos on my TF101 and Captivate with MX.
Sent from my Captivate

Argh, sorry. I really suck at multitasking.
I was just transfering a mkv file over to my Transformer when I wrote that comment. lol
What I meant to say was that BS Player seems best for me to play HD movies (with big file size).
