Sound Problems on my Magic. Help? - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Hey all, I am having some trouble with my Magic and I was hoping the community might be able to help me out.
I have a rooted Rogers Magic, and I have no sounds, system wide. No ringer, no notifications, no sound in youtube etc. The earpiece volume in a call works, but speakerphone doesn't. Unfortunately, I bought the phone and immediatey rooted and modded it without first testing that the device worked, so I'm not sure if the problem I'm having was a pre-existing problem, or something that came from my modding.
When I boot into fastboot mode, this is what is shown on the screen:
SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32A ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.33.2005 (SAPP50000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-3.22.20.17
Apr 20 2009,15:30:43
For a Recovery platform I am using RA-magic-v1.3.2H
I have had this problem with Cyanogen 4.2.4, Cyanogen 4.2.5, HoFo Community 3.0.7, and with the base Rogers files that Nandroid backed up before I loaded anything custom.
Any thoughts on how to fix this? I remember back from my WinMo days that flashing the wrong radio could cause sound problems on certain devices, but I'm too new to Android to really know.
Finally, if there's no software fix and it seems that the hardware is to blame, is there a way to restore the phone to a virgin state to get it serviced?
Thanks in advance for any help or ideas.

More Info
I have determined that the sound issues I am having with my Magic are not caused by faulty (or at least COMPLETLY faulty) hardware. It seemes that after a few complete restarts and shutdowns, I am able to coax sound out of the device on both the base Rogers ROM which I am restoring through Nandroid backup, and within the HoFo Community ROM 3.0.7.
The strange thing is that after a few minutes of playback in the HoFo ROM, the phone suddenly goes silent, sometimes in the middle of playing a sound, and only a complete restart will fix the problem.
I am also wondering why the device shows as SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN in the fastboot and hboot menus?

I think I solved it. Seems I may not have been wiping ALL data when changing ROMs. Prowess wiping technique seems to be key. ;-)

Vodafone G2 Magic 32A always reboot or crash with any rom version above 1.5

Hi, everyone:
My phone is Vodafone G2 Magic 32A, a problem has confused me for a period. When i tried 1.6, the problem occurred.
With any 1.5 rom, the phone work well. But with 1.6, 2.0,2.1 rom, the phone always auto reboot or crashed, whether i use the phone or not, and i think the reason is not a specific operation or software. I have tested all the rom i can find, and change the spl and radio for several times, but the problem still have. And the same problem also confuse other people. We have a group to discuss how to solve the problem, we all think the reason is not the hardware error, because the 1.5 version always work fine.
Here is some infomation of my G2 phone

Very sad about it.
me too!
but,I have changed my phone SPL2007 did not crash when the FLASH ROM.
which kind of rom did you flash?
The same problem i had, as lots of people.
Unless rom 1.5, other rom include 1.6, 2.0 and 2.1, it made the G2 crashed and auto reboot.
We have doubted about the recovery img, spl, radio, and so on. And someone have tested all of them, the problem have still being.
This is my G2 information:

Same problem!
HTC G2
, is anybody can help us?
Or teach us a way to find the really problem
for example: a program running in our Magic phone, when the phone crash or reboot, it will record some useful infomation.
I had a similar problem, my G2 freezed totally when used other roms.
In my case, it seemed to be the kernel. Using 2.6.27 worked fine.
so vanilla android 1.5 worked, and GyD and MyHero worked, but not others.
When I ran MyHero, I also noticed that my CPU didn't seemed to scale.
I ended up substiting my phone for another of the same model.
using "adb logcat" didnt give me any information, the error did never get logged.

do back up
wipe- data/factory; davlik-cache;sd ext partition,
no partitions on sd card,

Hello, iv got similar problem, on 1.5 work fine too but on on ROMs above 1.5 reboot my phone when i i use my camera i can do 1 picture but when i want to delete it phone just reboot, on google goggles too. I try Cyanogen ROM, SuperD and 1 ROM on android 2.x version. Someone maybe have same problem and fixed it ? or someone know how to fix it and btw i wiped data i try to install same ROM several times too and nothing helped
I'm having big problems with my 32A and any 1.6 ROM. Never tried changing the SPL though, but I've tried anything else: partitioning, installing different ROMS, almost every combination of wipe/reset and so on.
How could changing the SPL affect stability of a ROM?

Desire stuck on boot screen with Oxygen ROM - please help :S

Hi All
Yep, there are a lot of posts about Desire's stuck on boot screens I know - and I've read them all but nothing seems to fins a solution to my problem sadly.
I'm having an issue running Oxygen 2.0.3 signed release on my HTC Desire, spec as follows:
Radio 5.14.05.17
HBoot 0.93
PVT4
S-ON
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.7
I did all the data, boot, and system wipes/formats recommended before installing new ROMs, and installed the zip from my SD card through ClockworkMod.
All is well on first boot - had it running happily for a couple of days. Then I turned the phone off and on again and it only boots as far as the white screen with the green HTC text, and progresses no further. When I go back to my Nandroid backup of the rooted stock ROM things appear to function as they should, if that makes any difference to a diagnosis.
I've tried reinstalling this ROM twice with the exact same result.
Can anyone help? I've had crashes with pretty much every ROM I've tried so far and, apart from this one considerable problem, Oxygen had been looking the most promising. I'm starting to wish I hadn't rooted at all - can't get a stable OS running at all since doing it, and getting really fed up
Thanks very much for any help.
Mark
I know this is an old treath, but I have exactly the same problem. Does someone knows what could be done to resolve this issue? I did the same thing as the topic starter.
Some info about my phone:
RAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON
- Oxygen version 2.3.2
- HTC Desire GSM
- HBOOT version 0.93.0001
- RADIO version 5.11.05.27
Thanks in advance!

[Q] hardware or software problem - no pattern

Hello everybody, my first time here. Right to the problem:
Bought htc desire s for Vipnet, Croatia - previously unlocked and S-off by I don't know who.
Phone worked normal for a couple off days, upgraded, then started freezing after call - black screen, no leds, non responsive to buttons. Unlock method - called myself from another phone, ringed with black screen, after call ended phone unfroze.
downgraded hboot from 2.00.002 to 0.98.0000
downgraded radio from 3822.10.08.04_M to 38.03.02.11_M
unlocked bootloader
Till now installed several roms, cyanogen, gingerbread, icewitch, energy, sense mod, bliss mod...and others - some off them work fine for 2-3 days, then problem reoccurs. I cannot unfreeze the phone with a second call anymore, only by taking out and reinserting the battery.
Problem occurs with or without the sd in the phone (but I also tried formatting it). Factory restore doesn't work, and I am completely out of ideas.
Is there anything else I can downgrade and how?
Thx ya all

[Q] Audio Failure - openDSP?

I picked up a used one s (s4), so I dont know what was done with it before i got it, but it looked stock with the 1.08 radio flash w/rom and stuff (1.14 hboot). After a few hours the audio died, speaker, ear speaker, headphone, and bluetooth audio would cause a reboot. I have tryed rooting/flashing just about everything kind of combination of things. After a new wipe/flash the audio will work for a bit (sec to hours) and sometimes after reboots. This makes me think its a software bug. I have yet to downgrade hboot (next step?) and play with the radio. But i think openDSP in hboot may be related. can someone point me in a direction to find our more about openDSP? i tryed to google it, no sutch luck. Is there a way to flash openDSP? Any help would be great!
[Q] what is openDSP? can it be flashed?
Bump-same issue here-
Please help me i don't know what to do!!that phone drives me crazy!!
plus i can't lock the bootloader for some reason and can't flash RUU
EVERYONE WHO SEES THIS FORGET ABOUT THE RULES FOR A SECOND AND HELP ME PLEASE! :crying::crying:

Constant dropped calls, regardless of ROM/Radio

I'm sorry to say that my fist post here is one asking for help, but I would like to say that I'm humbled by, and very much appreciate, all of the work and support that everyone in this forum does!
I recently acquired an Inspire 4G from a friend and I'm having hell with it. It was already rooted and running CM 7.2 with the 12.56.60.25x_26.10.04.03_M Radio, and CWM 5.0.2.0. Apparently it was working fine... I used to call her on it all the time and she never had any issues with it. The problem started when I, in all my wisdom, decided to upgrade it to ICS or Jelly Bean.
Regardless of what ROM or Radio is used, I'm having several problems sending/receiving calls:
- If the phone is locked when there's an incoming call, it will ring, and when answered, there's no sound on the caller's side, as though the MIC is faulty.
- If the phone is unlocked when there's an incoming call, it sometimes rings, and other times the caller will get voice mail. In the event that it rings, and the call is answered, sometimes the caller will have sound, and other times the caller will hear nothing.
- If the phone is unlocked and a call is placed, the initial call will not go through. The second and/or third attempts are usually successful.
In each of the scenarios above, the calls are always dropped. The longest that I've been able to hold a call is 2:13
I'll detail everything that I've done, in chronological order, so that you can see whether or not it's something that I did that caused this. For each ROM that I've installed, I followed the developers' instructions on how to install it.
- Enter Recovery, wipe partitions, install a Jelly Bean ROM
- Discover call audio has a "metallic sound"; Flash "inspiremod-0.5.zip"; "Metallic sound" solved, but discover call issues.
- Attempt to upgrade Radio and failed, whether by fastboot (remote not allowed) or Boot Loader with PD98IMG.zip (nothing ever happened)
- Attempt to gain ENG S-OFF by following this guide: "Gaining Engineering S-OFF" section. I read several articles which said that this was required in order to flash the Radio
- Thought I bricked the phone, only to discover that I flashed a Froyo hboot instead of a GB hboot
- Followed this guide to resurrect phone, and it worked... THANKFULLY! Thank you attn1! :good:
- Install several different ROMs, only to discover that the same thing is happening with each one
- Reinstalled CM 7.2 thinking that I would only be able to use GB with this phone... SAME problem!
- Attempt to upgrade Radio via Boot Loader, one more time, and it worked! Not sure why it worked this time. Perhaps due to the new hboot from attn1's tutorial?
Here's a list of the ROMs that I've tried, latest release for each, except for CM:
Blackout
CM 7.2
IceSense
Jellytime
Mokee
Moonraker
NikRoms
The phone is currently running this ROM, with the 12.59.60.26P_26.11.04.21_M Radio w/RCDATA from the second post in this thread. The only thing in this ROM that doesn't work is video recording, which I can live without. Other than that, it's flawless, which is why I reinstalled it.
ANY suggestions that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated!
