Hi guys
My Girlfriend got herself a Nokia E71 - nothing to be jelous about, if u got a Topaz
But there was an APP i really miss on my Topaz. She has an APP for Internetradio Stations, where she can search for Genre and/or Name and stream it directly.. pretty awsome.
Is there an app like this for Pocket PC for free? Or is it possible to make the Nokia app run on WM6.5?
OR does someone got Tips, how I can stream Internet-Radiostations on my Topaz? (but I really prefere an app like the nokia one)
[i tried the search funktion, but doesn't got what I was looking for]
thanks
greetz Vashi
Try Resco-Radio. It's not free but a great app.
Yes, Resco radio is the best one....
I would happily pay for a good internet radio app, but Resco still doesn't support wma streams (which unfortunately excludes all my favourite stations). This, in my opinion, severely cripples it.
If you're in the UK and want to listen to the BBC amongst others, MyPlayer is suitable.
Otherwise, any other ideas are welcome...

Thanks for that, it looks good. They're a bit shy about the price on their website, but googling elsewhere it seems to be about $10. It does seem to have a very comprehensive worldwide station listing

I can also recommend Wunderradio, I think it supports the most radio stations worldwide.
Hey guys just as a follow up
I was intrigued by the description of Wunderradio
I already played with the Hardware FM radio in my Pure/Topaz
And results, where as can be expected for a pocket FM radio
But Wonderradio generally has a large channel selection not limited to
the local stations and signal quality had been very good
(as good as your data connection in your area)
I'm visiting Tucson and its been very good around town
They have a 15 day free full feature trial and after that its price is
actually U$15. Give it a "look see" you can't go wrong
I will very likely keep and register this one.

I tried WunderRadio and was very impressed with it. Pity they don't have access to Howard Stern on there, that would have topped it off.
And what about SPB Radio?
Kinoma.........
Not sure if its any good.... but this is free...

mp3 only
It's a bit crude compared with a dedicated player, but if you only need a few stations (as I do), then you can get the links from this website:
http://www.listenlive.eu
If you browse to this in Opera, you can find the stations you want and then click on the relevant MediaPlayer links. Save the files somewhere on your device or storage card. You can then open them from file explorer and stream the station in MediaPlayer...

I love my XDA II.........it protects me from stealth charges, tells me where to go, gives me email/sms/phone etc, plus it's great for MP3's.
I want to use it as a Hi Fi around the house though as well...... is there any solution such as big powerful Bluetooth speakers that I can drop into the kitchen or any room I think suits?
Just an idea.....
Oh...also the ring tone on the alarm clock isn't good enough to wake me up......so any ideas here are appreciated too....!!
Many thanks
David
i agree with the alarm thingie..
heres what i did.. got an mp3 with really load music ( which i like ) opened a sound edit program like cool edit pro etc then increase the decibels.. it works like a charm

Alarm Clock
Hi guys,
For the alarm clock:
pTravelAlarm is the best I have found (I am not an early bird!)
http://www.burroak.on.ca/pta.html <<< for features
Available from Handango - can't remember where I got mine from though as I didn't pay that much!
You can use your own music files for the alarm sounds (just dump the file in the correct directory)

Hi guys, just something along the lines of what is being discussed in this thread, concerning music around the house - I wanted to stream music off my home network using my XDA2s's WiFi connection....and then wirelessly send it to some bluetooth receiver with a line out socket....connected to an amp + speakers....thus i would be able to CONTROL the sound using the XDA and PLAY it on my existing sound system, instead of getting seperate speakers...
Has anyone had success in implementing something like this? In principle this seems relatively simple, I guess if there is any bluetooth headset on the market with a line out facility it could also be used for this purpose...
What do u folks think?? Has anyone tried this out or know of any such bluetooth music receivers that can synch with the XDA2s??

Remember seeing an application somewhere that allowed you to use your XDA as a remote control for your PC, to control a media player, via wi-fi.... can't remember where it was though........
This is the route I will be going to control my Windows MCE via Wlan.

Works
only my Umts/gprs is capped because of T-mobile
so Not much streaming tv for me
works very well and excellent info.
Works fine, yeah. Plays better in WMP than in pIE by a long way, though.
Is there an easier way to play in WMP? At the moment, I'm viewing the source of your site and finding the .asx link to type in manually.
It was rather late at night, perhaps I just missed something obvious?
Hi,
thank you echo, eye finish there combo - boxing on playback in IE - MP, then will you can choose.
Now page decides where divide stream according as will announce IE.
MSIE 4.01 play in WMP (WM5-) and other MSIE X.XX play in IE (WM6)
IE store info in registry:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\Version = "MSIE X.XX"
sorry graz to be off topic. can you tell me which keyboard app are you using. i saw it up on the image posted in your 1st post.
And yes anyone know how to use Media streaming. . Can one use the tv url and watch it there.I tried but got errors.
It's Resco, no?
works good for me! used wifi to connect. seemed to be a little choppy tho.
also ...sky sports and bbc didnt seem to work
works good for me
I am running this on WM5. It works fine especially ABC NEWS. Is there a way to play the TV using TCPMP. If I use WMP, the screen is too small.

Hello.
i looking for apps to add to my phone, and i really want an imdb mobile app.
After searching i have came to the conclusion that non exists (please correct me if im wrong).
i then found this site
Code:
http://nolanbrown.com/imdb

it redirects if you use IE , using chrome it appears to work.
after reading the about bit
"Since being released January 5, 2008, IMDb Mobile has been raved about as one of the best web applications available for the iPhone. It was voted a "Staff Pick" by Apple, made Apple's Most Popular page in Entertainment and in a mere 15 days, IMDb Mobile received more then 20,000 visitors."
it appears it was designed for iphone viewing and i guess the creator set it up to check for the browser and have a blacklist (it appears his blog not updated in some time, maybe chrome wasnt out when the he had the blacklist??? i dunno only guessing) so i assume changing the user agent on one of my mobile browser would make this site visible (unless anyone has a quicker solution).
i dont really want to change the user agent everytime so anyone know a imdb mobile app / quicker solution to use that site.
thank you for your time.
larry.
+1 for a IMDB Mobile App...would definitely be a nice app to have!
I would also like to get one...
Just as an alternative solution you can use the ebook-reader TomeRaider3, as they have the imdb database as a free download on their site (approx. 158mb) to read offline
Will give it a try...but I think an online app would be even better
Nevertheless thanks for your share!
Ascenca
i used to use it
i thought it was rather poor though, and if i remember correctly it is quite limited in what information it gives you.
the proper site works not too bad though.
Just downloaded this for my HD2 its an upgrade of a slightly older one and runs great once you go into the settings and assign a video player for the trailers to play on. In my case i navigated to windows/ windows media player

Cool, didn't know it was on here too. Didnt want to post a link incase it got in trouble!
Hi guys, I´m looking for some aviation software, espacially a weather program that shows METAR, TAF and SPECI weather reports of aerodromes by the ICAO location indicator codes.
Additionally I´m looking for an aviation calculator, some kinda E6B thing or so...
Concerning the weather thing it might be also easy for a skilled programmer to create a little app, because you can grap the necessary weather information easily by the web. There are certain sites like
weather.noaa.gov/weather/coded.html
or
de.allmetsat.com/metar-taf/index.html
and several others (via google)
that offer the needed weather information...
Regards,
insi
I want this too, plenty apps available for iphone...
Plz
Can someone plz make an apps for this service - I really need one.....
Is this something you would pay for/there is a market for?
Also where does this information come from? Can it be easily syndicated?
Let me know and I might be able to cook something up (though it may take a little while).
I would give $10,- for an aviation weather-app!
Google is your friend. Search for WXSYS That prog should do it.
Yes, it looks good.
However, after entering my e-mail address, I still can not send any query.
It does not work for me.
No problem on my HD2 with EDDF. It even gave me satellite images
there is definately a market for that ;-) And I would pay for this kinda app - I think I would pay up to 40 Euro for it.
I know wxsys very well but for german aerodromes, especially the smaller ones it is quite bad...
regards, insi
Hrm,
Ok, maybe I need to canvas an aviation forum to see what kind of response I get.
This is something I might be interested in developing but it might take a little while. I'll keep you posted.
Something similar to aeroweather on the iphone would be great.. Count me in and my $10!! flyingmarvo
Maybe you could have a look at SBSH PocketWeather. It includes METAR aso. Using it for quite a long time. Don't know if that's the right thing for you - maybe a beginning...
After migrating from an iPhone, i am desperately waiting for something along the lines of PilotWizz.
It was great for Calculations, and decodes the latest weather (TAFs and METARs) for easy and simple viewing.
TBH im fairly disappointed with whats on offer on WM in general....hope someone is able to sort something out!!!
I´ve been using the program that´s been said before with good results for Europe:

a little trick i've been using for a few weeks to enable listening to offline bbc radio shows
extremely easily. works for PC users with android, blackberry & ithings via Dropbox.
Radio Downloader allows you to subscribe and download any BBC iPlayer radio content or
RSS podcasts. Simply set the download target to the Dropbox folder and the content will be
available on your mobile device for download & offline listening.
links
Radio Downloader (pc only) | Dropbox Account (2.25gb free*) | Dropbox Apps
* - you'll get an extra 250mb on top of the standard 2gb cloud storage using this link.
since this is a multi-OS topic i guessed this is the best place to post.
That's a rather good idea
that's the same crap as using the BBC player to play the contents directly
if you are able to download stuff from dropbox account
might as well just download the show directly to your phone
why go through so much trouble to accomplish the same thing?

To my knowledge you can't save what you're listening to with the iplayer app (on phone or PC).
So for instance if I want to listen to the Now Show or the News Quiz, or even Any Answers, I can do so when I'm on the tube in London.
I've missed so many good programs simply because I'm not near a radio/computer at the time that they're on.
@AllGamer.
because this method allows you to play content offline & as far as i'm aware the iplayer doesn't allow you to download unencrypted content - or any at all on the android app.

You'll wake up sometime in the future, in a pool of sweat screaming "Mornington Crescent!" after a flash back
