Hi guys, I´m looking for some aviation software, espacially a weather program that shows METAR, TAF and SPECI weather reports of aerodromes by the ICAO location indicator codes.
Additionally I´m looking for an aviation calculator, some kinda E6B thing or so...
Concerning the weather thing it might be also easy for a skilled programmer to create a little app, because you can grap the necessary weather information easily by the web. There are certain sites like
weather.noaa.gov/weather/coded.html
or
de.allmetsat.com/metar-taf/index.html
and several others (via google)
that offer the needed weather information...
Regards,
insi
I want this too, plenty apps available for iphone...
Plz
Can someone plz make an apps for this service - I really need one.....
Is this something you would pay for/there is a market for?
Also where does this information come from? Can it be easily syndicated?
Let me know and I might be able to cook something up (though it may take a little while).
I would give $10,- for an aviation weather-app!
Google is your friend. Search for WXSYS That prog should do it.
Yes, it looks good.
However, after entering my e-mail address, I still can not send any query.
It does not work for me.
No problem on my HD2 with EDDF. It even gave me satellite images
there is definately a market for that ;-) And I would pay for this kinda app - I think I would pay up to 40 Euro for it.
I know wxsys very well but for german aerodromes, especially the smaller ones it is quite bad...
regards, insi
Hrm,
Ok, maybe I need to canvas an aviation forum to see what kind of response I get.
This is something I might be interested in developing but it might take a little while. I'll keep you posted.
Something similar to aeroweather on the iphone would be great.. Count me in and my $10!! flyingmarvo
Maybe you could have a look at SBSH PocketWeather. It includes METAR aso. Using it for quite a long time. Don't know if that's the right thing for you - maybe a beginning...
After migrating from an iPhone, i am desperately waiting for something along the lines of PilotWizz.
It was great for Calculations, and decodes the latest weather (TAFs and METARs) for easy and simple viewing.
TBH im fairly disappointed with whats on offer on WM in general....hope someone is able to sort something out!!!
I´ve been using the program that´s been said before with good results for Europe:

Hi everyone, what do you say on the new T-mobile's homescreen for HTC Shadow device (http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2007/11/01/shadow-homescreen.aspx)?
It would definitely be worth having it on other phones, do you think it can be done?

As far as i know it is for Windows Mobile Standart (Smartphone) only, but can not be sure until i try it
Sure it can be done. The only thing you need is dumped T-Mobile shadow ROM. If you can get that, you can get the homescreen.
What i wanna know is if there is a reg edit to get the to take myfaves away from the first tab on the home screen so i can see the date and time there instead like in the first picture. That would great.

As written in linked article, myfaves are only enabled on T-Mo SIMcards, others see the clock instead, which is great. Now, where to get the ROM?
Let's just hope that someone will dump their phone's rom
To all shadow users: Who can dump their phones rom ?
I'm not sure how to dump my rom, but I hope someone figures it out because I hate this my fave on my homescreen. I would also like to keep the neo interface but be able to add my own apps to it...I wish I knew how to help..g
Clock instead of MyFav
Take a look here to get rid of MyFavs. I haven't tried it but the person who posted it did. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343000

Worked like a charm thanks for the link.....g
If you're not on a MyFavs plan, can you still use the MyFavs on the interface as a poor-man's photo dialer to five numbers of your choosing?
May be someone could help Gottifour to dump his rom? I don't know how to do this for sure..
Indeed... A dump would be really great!
What do you guys think about the ever growing eyecandy that is being used in all different mobile devices? Is it doing something good for the usability or just eyecandy that blinds the user?
Greetings from the Netherlands,
Peter Vrenken
How about some pointers to instructions on how to dump a rom for those who might be interested.
How about this...
Try using this tutorial on the xda xiki: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_HowtoDumpRom
as far as I know, you can use itsme's tools for all htc devices. Sorry that i can't try this myself on the shadow. I have the t-mo MDA and an ancient mpx200
If anyone gets this to work, please post the dump online
I think it helps to create Neo to ather devices =)

disco era is gone, man...
lol but it would look cool
We need to get some people working on a program like that.
is any way to emulate nokia Xpress-on Fun Shell to get something like this on air:
I remembered VJAY555 made something similar to this just for fun.
He did vjplumbum that plays a Christmas song and the leds "dance" accordingly and another one to appear like the movie "close encounters of the 3rd kind" main theme...
Both of them must be offline, because I cant find them...
With these, you probably can find a tool that make them run (they are both EXE's) as soon as the phone starts ringing. Take in mind that all these are for wm5/6.
Now, about that nokia airtexting i never even heard of, but it looks very fun... I made a small test in flash, but i cant find more technical informations about it, I need to know the timing and sizes for the display to show a message... All the gadgets I found on youtube had accelarameters, but I don't think its needed...
I'm attaching the small tests i did to appear a heart on the screen, one is sideways and both dont really work...lol

Just make a search in:
instructables
wikipedia and
google for the term:
POV (percistence of view ) *not the pr0n POV =P.*
its the basics of cinematic....
i believe that you can make it flash something like 12fps...
I did... nothing usefull came up.
Nokia-like wave messaging seems really cool, but I don't know if a phone's screen is bright enough to achieve this effect.
I can try to make a small Win Mobile utility that does this, maybe using the accelerometer, but right now I don't really have time for this.
I'm searching for a certain PIM. Now I'm using Agendus Profesional editio. It's a great one but it's working too slow and it's going on my nerves! If you know what to do to make it work faster, please tell me (but I doubt if anyone knows this )
Well there is only one condition which a PIM must have, a week block view with the possibility to display different appointment categories in different colors or with different icons. Here is a picture what does it look like in Agendus Pro

}
Well the Outlook Calender on WM 6.0 has this great week view but it doesn't have the feature to mark different categories. I would be really happy If anybody would have or know a hack or knows what to do about it. I know the registry hack to display names of appointments in the block but it doesn't come in handy.
I've tried out:
- Pocket informant 8 - it has the week block view but it sux!
- Agenda One
- Agenda Fusion
- SBSH Calendar Touch 2
- SBSH PocketBreeze
- Spb Diary
(The last two are actually today plugins, but can be used also as PIM)
Thanks for your help folks
Still no suggestions?
Oh I see. xda developers is another forum where no support is given on a tiny bit complex questions. All this cream de la cream developers of software for mobile units here on xda and no answer, how pityful for such a well known site. They are breaking up HTC's and Cooking ROM's, do lot's of great stuff, but no one tried to write something for this damn outlook calendar to display categories in colors! No rather then that they are always playing with this TouchFlo crap and so on...
Oh well. Thanks =P
It may well be that there is nothing else to work the way you want and instead of a series of "Sorry don't know" ,people are staying quiet. I was one.
Personally i use ThumbCal, doesn't do colours but does do diary stuff well and is finger friendly.
1 and a half year in this forum and 5 posts.... Whats YOUR contribution to the site buddy? May be you could have tried what you are looking for and shared it with us?
Think before judging....
Just a suggestion, no offence intended
Thank you deedee, but unfortunately I've already tried this out. It's really a great PIM or better to say calendar, but I really miss the week view :aww:

jup you're right, I don't do much on this forum. But even if my contribution to this forum would be bigger I seriously doubt that it would be a bit better with answers to my questions ;P
Hello world!
As a developer, i know that you have always wanted to see all the comments of your applications.
This is quite difficult with android market, because you can only browse data in the langage of your phone.
With appstats, you will be able to browse all the comments of all langage ( 6 for now) and know what people think of your application.
My application was buggy last month, but now all is OK and you can browse now all the informations you want.
Please consider leaving good comments, because after the problems last month, i see my application loosing it's precious stars.

Hello, i just rewrited the application with an API and I do not depend on other website.
This app is now working alone and pretty fast.
I will continue working on it, feel free to send me feedback!
Note:
I am connecting with a dummy email adress and I don't know how Google will accept that, maybe this account will be blocked soon, I don't know how does Cyrket, androlib and all website make their connection, but I hope I won't have problem.)
So maybe my app won't work in a few days!
No feedback? O know that the app stopped working for month and I lost all my stats in the android market, but I have now 800 active users and still no feedback and my ratings on the market didn't change for month?
Please tell me if something wrong happen while I will be working on the UI.
New update in the Market: allow you to see the total number of rating and some bugs corrected.
Still no feedback
Please tel me something about this app...
It looks nice, how do I add a bookmark? BTW, you have this bug, when loading the comments and changing ur phone orientation to landscape or portrait you get a force close.
The easy solution is to add this to that activity:
android:configChanges="orientation|keyboardHidden"
This happens also when searching for an app.
Hope this helps. Another thing is that the comments loading takes some time, it would be cool if this would be faster if possible.
Nice Tool.
Why is it limited to the last 10 ratings per language?
PS. There is a typo when choosing the language. (it says: Choose your langage)
Please add more languages and make number of comments configurable. Otherwise it's a useful application.
Would be also nice to have optional background periodic updates with notifications. Google translation on comments tap would be cool feature too.
Pity there is no source available, I'd fork it otherwise and add the features I need plus more cleaner UI.
I finally finished my first Android app.

Basically SudoTape lets you mark up images on your device, images either saved on the device externally or using the built-in camera intent.
I found that being a code monkey most my life my writing with those ancient things calls pens and pencils sucks. Recently I found I needed to take some notes for measurements of things in my house and found I couldn't read my own damn writing so I thought, "Why can't I just take a picture of what I want to measure and just draw on the picture"?
This is the premise for SudoTape.
Here is the market link: https://market.android.com/details?id=net.pixelsystems.sudotape
Here is a link to the documentation: http://pixelsystems.net/?page_id=66
The app is free so it costs nothing to try it out. Your device doesn't need a camera in order to use the app even if the market suggests a camera is required.
Just curious what became of this app? I'm looking for an app for photo markup and this might have fitted the bill. Not available in the Canada play store though.

I haven't had time to update the app, it was frozen in time on Android 2.3 or something ancient. The entire camera functionality changed since I wrote the app so much of the camera functionality didn't work, or didn't work well enough to keep it in the store. I was getting tons of negative reviews so I just pulled it.
Not sure if I'll ever get back to updating it.. last I looked there were a bunch of similar apps out there so maybe you'll find something that will do what you want.
Funny thing is, it's harder than you'd think to find a really good photo markup app.
* SnapMarkup comes close but lacks text boxes
* Nimbus seems a bit overboard....

Too bad, I liked how the app worked.. Since I can't read my bloody writing anymore I used it a lot when doing some changes around the house. Sadly the SDK around the camera was in TERRIBLE shape, Android 2.X was a mess at the time with each manufacturer doing their own thin in regards to retrieving images from the camera. It made it a nightmare to try and debug and hack through all the different odd behaviors.
Chances are though, even if I managed to rewrite the camera portion to use the new SDK the whole UI is also frozen in time with the notion of having a menu button (which almost no phones do now).
Maybe some day, but not anytime soon. Thanks for the interest though.
