Does anyone know how to enable the Manila Start menu as opposed to the 6.5 start menu? I tried to look in the registry for enlarge menu etc etc but not luck getting it to work.
I think that the start menu you are asking for doesn't have much to do with manila. So the one you are asking for belongs to windows 6.1 and I guess there is not much you can do to get that in windows 6.5.
As far as I know they removed it since the WM6.5 startmanu was better...
Maybe this will do the trick:

I'm guessing you mean WM5 on a smartphone and changing the grid view back to the list view as in WM2003

is it possible to install this WM6.5 home screen from cab file on wm 6.1?
I've got BA, and there is wm 6.5 on ba, but i want only this today screen, not whole new ROM.
I tried to use this cab, but it not work. Is installed, the registry settings are in the right place, but it doesn't show on today screen's items list. I tried to enable it from registry cause I saw that was disabled but no difference. And I cannot uninstall it.
It's not real.

Well the start menu was redesigned.
Manila has it's own special start menu that is opened by tapping in the top left corner (where the Start button was). It is very similar to QuickMenu.
The good thing about the stock start menu is it is highly customizable. If you search the threads you can find start menus that contain 2 rows... and even 1 row (list) similar to Quick Menu... but without any third party apps.
I wouldn't be too quick to avoid the WM6.5 start menu because it is something you'll have to eventually get used to. I would recommend you get familiar with it and start looking up some of the tweaks to get it to where you want.
I am not finding this manilla start menu. Just the regular windows mobile start menu.
I am using htc sense. When i click the left i get the regular start menu.

If you are using Sense 2.1 (stock WM6.5) then you can use this:

Finally there is a way to disable the startbutton and/or the close button on winmo 6.5.x builds (i'm on 23544 right now and it works!)

Lauren, I guess my more specific question was, if you have windows default selected, how do you determine what windows default is?
My problem is I keep having it to where when I turn off the phone then back on, "calendar" disappears from home screen until I go into the home screen settings and exit/save. It's annoying.
