I have an HTC Fuze (Touch Pro) running on AT&T's network. I am using SPB Mobile Shell 3.5.1 instead of TouchFlo. When making or receiving a phone call, once the call disconnects or I hang up my phone freezes! No response to button presses or screen taps, just frozen. This lasts anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds before it releases everything back to normal. Any thoughts out there???
What Rom are you running? The stock original rom?
2 suggestions:
1) If you are incessant about not upgrading your ROM to something a bit more colorful, faster, Do a hard reset (BACK UP ALL DATA AND SETTINGS TO EXTERNAL DRIVE) by holding the volume up and the center button on the front of your phone, and then insert your stylus into the reset button on the bottom (i find holding the phone power-button into your gut works best for keeping the phone stable) - keep holding unil the reset to factory defaults screen comes up.
2) Flash your phone to a much better ROM and enjoy a better way of life. (I'm all about the energy roms, but many people swear by others)
Thanks for the tip. I'm actually running the latest official stock rom the HTC released a five or six months ago, for AT&T WM 6.1. Maybe I'll give another ROM a try sometime.

It's probably Mobile Shell. It seems to have some bugs. For instance, when I am done with a call, it sometimes it just hangs on the screen where you can choose which number to call for someone. I have to go into the Task Manager and kill it, which doesn't kill the entire program, just that window. I'm so annoyed by it, that I am probably going to get rid of it.
I'm running energy ROM, if it matters (don't remember which version).
it can also be your radio. When I was originally flashing radios, I found out that some give me stronger signals, but it crashes my phone right after the call. look into that as well.

Greetings,
I just upgraded to the 2.02.00 ROM last night but still have the occassional lockups. I need to do a soft reboot to get the phone to respond. I believe when it locks up, the radio is still running since I see the blinking Green LED for the GSM. I have to switch off the POWER MANAGEMENT option of "Turn off in x min in not used" for battery power to be able to use the device for calls. The only level of battery saving I am stuck with now is the Backlight auto-off and the beam settings.
Is this something others are having as well or are any applications the culprit?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Regards

All buttons..including the power button...no response.
try holding down the power button
or setting the backlight to atleast one notch.
Urm... uh... ah.... eeee... aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.
I can confirm this behavior on my MDA Pro (G3).
All ROM versions the same like Bhameed's on my MDA, ...except bootloader of course.
Anyone else noticed this on 2.02.00?
Hold on, can you guys be more specific with this? Are you absolutely sure it doesn't come back on when you PRESS AND HOLD the power button??? Really sorry if I sound like I'm being pedantic, but just from what you've written it sounds like you don't know how to turn on the phone???
hahahaHAHAHA!!! awesome reply spyder
ok, yeah i was thinking this is an issue of not being able to turn on your phone.
yeah what's going on that was different from before?
There have been only few moments where you think "Surely not"... I hate those moments, I'm just hoping this isn't one of them! If it is a genuine problem it's pretty serious and needs to be addressed, but if not.... well, I don't think I should say much more
Please please please say this is all a big joke. I'm tired, please excuse me.
I confirm this behaviour!
And more!
My Qtek freezes... freezes... and then PUFFF. Dead.
I wait some minutes (30 minutes) and I can turn it on again.
I'll send it to qtek.
Mine has a thing sometimes where there will be a pause between pressing the power button and it coming to life... sometimes if I get impatient and press the power button again it will turn it back off before it's come on.
I don't really get it though. Does it freeze while it's still on, or while it's turned off? If it freezes when on, there's plenty of info about how to prevent freezes (mostly 3rd party apps + reg tweaks).
If it really does freeze when off, then please let us know anything more on the issue that you can.

Mine freezes everywhere. Bootscreen, Pin code menu (when u type your pin). It depends.
then pda doesn't turn on.
Many problems.
Just go to the assistance. :\
1.Sometimes it freezes while its on. For Instance I had program opened and then whenI tried pressing X to close nothing happened. I had to use the red hardware button to close. Wonder why.
2.I too agree while the phone boots and is searching for network, it takes very long, Meanwhile when the pin enter screen come up, unless the network is fully searched one cannot enter the sim pin code, it has few freezes. or at time the phone signal icon disappears on top bar and again you need to reset the phone.

Again, I don't have this problem for some reason... I get very few freezes at all.
I think we're getting away from the original point of the post though... and normal freezing is well documented in most OS threads with means to prevent it.
Same here...Confirmed. Tried all button combinations to get the display back (short presses and long ones), but then end up having to do a soft-reboot to finally get the phone to work properly....

And then you don't have other problems? Like freezes?
EDIT: I flash the original rom but the problem still here
I wonder if this could be a memory leak like someone suggested.... I'm sorry guys, I haven't experienced this problem, and I haven't seen any posts about it until this thread, is there any chance you guys with this issue can keep an eye over your memory status over say a couple of days to see if there's a leek and keep us posted? Once we find out what the problem is it should make a solution easier.
I experienced this problem as well using a cooked WM5 ROM on my HERM200 the only fix I found was migrating to another ROM. I'm currently using CUSTEL_Cing_v1.3, the battery life sucks but I love WM6, it is so much faster, I'm still tweaking and trying to resolve some other issues but other than that I am quite happy with it.
If you are experiencing the lockup I would suggest moving to another ROM as an option, that worked for me. Although a clean install usually fixes a lot of problems.
I have just one issue after switching to Windows Mobile 6 (at first "Faria real thing", now "Crossbow Reloaded"). Sometimes the phone behaves as if the sound was switched off.
I read various discussions about which radio ROM is better etc. for not missing calls, but I guess it is not that problem. The call gets through (so I guess radio rom is ok). When having the phone in such state, I checked it by calling from the fixed phone on my desk - the call got through, there was message on the display that somebody is calling (just the ring was silent).
Once in such situation I tried to switch on/off the phone application - no change. The one thing which seems to cure it reliably is to go to the phone settings (I usually try the ringing tone I use - it works ok - and press ok). Afterwards it is normal (the phone rings).
I have not found yet any pattern when this happens... Is it possible that the phone somehow loses setting (about the set ringing tone, or about volume) and it is fixed by going to phone settings?
Has anybody else such experiences?
Othewise I am happy with WM 6 (especially I like "Internet Sharing", quicker booting and the fact that when running "Opera Mini" in "Midlet Manager" it no longer ignores hardware soft keys). Just this think is a bit of nuisance.

I've seen this a few times myself, and yes, just playing your ringtone via the Phone Settings will fix this issue. I can say that I haven't seen this issue in some time, and thats since I stopped using the press & Hold of the CommManager button (upper left side of the phone) to switch my phone in and out of Vibrate mode. I used to use that to do a quick switch and it seemed sometimes after coming back out of vibrate mode, this issue would happen (not always, but a few times). I've now quit using that button that way and I don't think I've had the non-ring issue since.
Thanks you for the information, I will try it. It may have been the problem with that button - I mapped there task manager which I use often and pressed it sometimes a bit longer...

Hi guys,
When I get a message the phone vibrates 3 times, like normal. But sometimes randomly it vibrates 1 time and then unlimited vibration. Until I get it out of my pocket and press the powerbutton so the screen goes on again. When the screen is on again the phone resumes the 2 vibrates. Very strange. I had it on multiple roms with different radio's. I don't use TF3D but HTC Home Plugin VGA edition.
I've experienced the same issue you speak of with the stock ROM, and I haven't found a solution or cause yet either.
I think it was this what caused my phone to sometimes go out. Because the vibration consumed all the power.
Do you use Touch Flo?

That would be the angry bee. It is something that just happens. I've had it so bad that I have had to soft reset the phone. It only happens to me every great once in a while. However, I haven't run the stock rom since about 2 hours after buying the phone.
has happened to me twice now.
ive had the phone about 2 months.

I've had it happen to me a few times and had to soft reset it to make it stop. It doesn't happen too often, so I haven't been too worried about it.
I've had it happen when I launch an application just as it is starting to vibrate to signal a notification.
Do you guys also always have it as the second vibration? When it hangs it always is the second vibration at me. And when I press the screen again he makes 2 after it again.
I had a similar issue with the initial stock rom - my wife messaged me in the middle of a meeting and my phone would not STOP VIBRATING. Since it was on the desk, it buzzbuzzbuzzed really loud.
Now I'm on the Energy 3.0 rom and have not had an issue. Even with the updated leaked stock rom I didn't have the issue.
I discover that it only vibrates wrongly when I have the screen off. Pretty annoying though.
Don't we use some kind of stuff in common?
I use:
HTC Home VGA Edition for front end instead of manilla
HomeScreen++ for the handy shortcuts
I checked some things again, I am not 100% sure but I think it was HomeScreen++ that caused the problems here. The exact settings: at the Tools tab "Lock if Display is Off and vice versa, which didn't work anyway at the touch pro (did work on htc's I had before though), but I checked it off and now it still rings 3 times and no less or more. Hope this was it.
I do not use HomeScreen++ and it happens to me at least once a day, sometimes twice. Mine always seems to happen on the third vibrate, it will do the first two and then the third one just stays on. I press the power button for the screen to come back on and it stops.
I have it too sometimes.
EnergyRom 3.0
And you guys have something that auto lock the screen when you press the power off button? Or do you lock the screen before pressing the power button? Because here it seems to have something to do with the locking in combination of the standby mode (screen off)
I recently bought a used htc touch cruise. After a few days the phone wouldn't get any gsm signal and windows media player and other programs wouldn't work. I installed WM6.1 and now everything is perfect. the phone works great.
There was something interesting that happen. i tried to open the phone by pushing the power button bat no response( the phone was on last time I checked) , no button seems to work, just the green flashing light was running. I had to pull out the battery and put it back and switch on the phone., and now is working. The phone was off in that time where no button would work because I try to call my phone put was unreachable . The curious thing was that the green light was flashing. This is the second time it happen this,
can anyone tel me what is wrong? could be some settings? could be the WM6.1...or some hardware problem?
you've got a ppc. that means it's a little computer, as you know, computers can crash.
sometimes if the phone crashes it can lock up with black screen, no buttons work, but yes, sometimes the led light flashes still.
to the left of the mini usb/charge point is a small hole. if the phone crashes, poke your stylus pen into it to perform a soft reset (restart the phone).
it maybe that you flashed an unstable rom or had too many programs running at once. try changing the 'X' button function to close the program, rather than minimize it to the background (this you'll find in settings)
if that doesn't work try a re-flash. sometimes roms can become unstable because the original ('shipped') htc rom wasn't flashed first. then flash the custom one. sometimes i even double flash the custom rom to make sure all is set right.
hope this helps - if you're still having problems, that is (i see the post is a little while old)
Howdy folks-
I'm having some issues with my Nexus 5 and hoping someone has some insight. During phone calls my screen becomes inoperable-it is completely dark and nothing I do aside from hanging up the phone with the power but does anything. And even that takes three or four pushes before it wakes up again. When I'm using bluetooth and have the phone on my center console (laying flat) I have use of the screen for in call actions etc. but then and only then. I've used several different roms, kernels, etc. and am on the second screen. Problem has been consistent but sometimes worse depending on rom (sometimes I have to completely reboot during a call to regain functionality).
Also having a problem with YouMail completely leaving the phone useless and inoperable during and after use. I can use the power button to eventually end everything and often have to reboot the phone to use again.
Currently using Bricked Kernel and Droidkang V18
Any help would be much appreciated.
Am having similar problems on a rooted Nexus 5 running stock rom and T-Mobile.
If I need to use the keyboard during a call, the keyboard flashes on and off making it impossible to enter sequential numbers. Makes the phone unusable.
Yep-been there done that. No bueno. Would love some help.........
