[ROMS] dwang v1.13, cyanogen v4.2.5 w/nav,fb,wifi tether [11/22/09] - G1 Android Development

Didn't want to steal anyone's limelight. So here is the deal, these roms are purely for the newbeez that just want to do everything the easy way. As you already know dwang's current rom v1.13 navigation already works. However I added Facebook, and Wifi tether. Nothing a person cannot just push onto the rom, but nevertheless this is just another option. I am also including cyanogen's 4.2.5 with Navigation and Facebook, and WiFi tether. Nothing most of you probably do not already have, but like I said another option for the beginners that just want something that works.
Hey guy's I did this because I was bored and waiting impatiently for Eclair.
*I understand a lot of you cannot download these files, if any of you have the time and know another media sharing option please include them for others to use*

Cyanogen 4.2.5
Just flash everything the same way you normally do with cyanogens roms.

Note: Just thought I would mention, everything works on the cyanogen rom, just seems like the setup time for the navigation takes longer than expected. Just have some patience.
Please give thanks too:

dwang for the rom

Thankss dude!!! bout to flash asap!

Thanks for the contributions. I am looking forward to seeing something like this on a rom that does not make use of the 10MB hack.

Yes I can explain go to ip894's tutorial, that is how to do it without doing a fresh install. I merely followed his tutorial, used the fastest donut rom on the planet, and made the changes accordingly, put the maps app from the droid dump, into dwang's donut rom, changed the build.trout.prop to make the dwang donut rom think its the verizon droid. I then resigned the rom, and uploaded it for everyone to try it out.

THANKS bro greatly appreciated

just flashed this ROM. looks like it's working. haven't tested it on the road, but the navaigation launched successfully. thanks so much for this.

same here it worked on my mt3g

Thanks

Hey bro thanks a lot.... downloading right away.... it 12:05 am.... got office tomm bt cant wait to flash this

Downloaded and flashed at work, and it's beautiful. Thanks Tommy!

As I found that this is a complete ROM that would erase my theme I prefer to setup the navigation manually.
Through adb in Recovery mode you just need to push three files from this package:
build.prop and build.trout.prop to /system/
and Maps.apk to /system/app
Just to be sure I've erased the dalvik-cache directory content.
Maps app is working fine although I can not use Nav cause it is not working outside US (for now ).

help help please
hey i um had cyanogen mod 4.3.2.1 right then i wipe then flash with this rom but the android logo pops up but um it doesnt boot up??? please help what do i need to do please help

OP it would be awesome if u just made a patch. So it wud only replace/insert files needed for nav to work. Just my 2cents.

Read the topic - it clearly says GM w/N on DWANG.
This package is whole Dwang 1.11 ROM with modified files to enable navigation (that is only active if you are in US network).
Have fun with reinstalling CM or wiping the settings to have Dwang's ROM working.

Hey this is the steps I took to get this rom working.
1. I mounted my sdcard, and erased everything off of it.
2. I did a wipe data/factory reset in recovery mode.
3. I wiped the ext partition
4. I wiped dalvik-cache
5. I repaired ext partition
6. I then wiped the data partition again
7. I then flashed the new rom
8. I then rebooted
If you follow that, I pretty much promise it will work.
Do not bother with any of this unless you have the correct radio, and spl!!

Now we need to get Voice search working so we can say "Navigate to Blah blah"...and it opens up google Nav

[ROM-DEV] Android 2.0.1-r5v0.6 (Dead)

Android 2.0.1-r5v0.6
Dead:
==============
After spending some time and looking over this rom and ways to make it work with out any legal issues. The most viable option was to build something like what cynanogen has built. His process takes the proprietary bits (all google apps including sync) and copies them off onto the SD card before doing a update. After the update it copies them back to the newly installed rom. This method basically does a automated backup/restore of your licensed applications. I can't do this for several reasons including that we are supposed to be coming from a 1.5 OS to a 2.0.1, which isn't compatible with the older application set.
Temporarily Offline:
==============
I am sorry to have to do this but we are now having more then just a small handful goofing with this ROM and I need to take this offline while I inspect each of the parts and make sure all licensing is in order since its a bit more then the google Opensource framework. I know that several other ROM creators have not paid much attention to it as I am going to now but I really don't want to upset any IP holders like what happened to Cynanogen a couple months back.
I will put it back up but I want to make sure that I am totally covered and don't have any issues.
version 0.6: download (offline)
==============
-fixed wifi thanks to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=593620
-Now starts up with Android stock keyboard. (No longer needs HTC_IME.apk for second keyboard)
A few have asked for this ROM so I thought I would put it up here for anyone that wants to contribute to or take from it.
This ROM is only compatible with the Sprint CDMA HTC Hero. It is not finished and still requires some work but its good enough for my day to day use and I am sure others may find the same potential.
This ROM is vanilla android and what it takes to actually get it running on a CDMA phone. It is built off of this GSM variant. I am going to try and work to remove the google bits so that you can use Cynanogens method of extracting your own and then doing a follow up update to install them. My efforts for this is not to build a better rom but to build a cleaner base that has limited to no proprietary IP.
Credits to all on this forum how have helped or contributed in any way to building the roms that are here. I would point out names but there are to many to name. I am positive that anyone that pays attention to this forum will know who you are. I used many parts of these ROM's and many others on XDA to build this one.
This is my first ROM and was primarily made for myself to help me learn how to create a custom ROM.
Here is the link to my blog where I originally posted about this and a video of it booting.
Here is the Youtube video of it booting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRTh-rXKe-E
*Warning*: Don't attempt to flash this ROM onto anything else unless you know what you are doing! I am not responsible for any device malfunctions or "Bricks".
Notes on Installing:
- Run a Nandroid backup before you do anything.
- Make sure you do a full wipe first. (Sorry )
- Run the update zip found * Version 0.6 *(offline) from the recovery console.
To get the HTC keyboard installed: (Now Optional as of Version 0.6)
- Follow the instructions here.
Things that don't work:
- Gallery some times has issues.
- Camera
- Wired or Wireless Tethering (Now Testing)
- Orientation
- Trackball light
- Trackball click (Rolling and moving are fine)
- (Let me know if something else needs to go here.)
Possible issues that are not repeatable:
- speaker not working on out bound calls? I made 30 test calls to my home phone and was not able to replicate this issue. Needs to be verified (see here)

So you installed both the HTC_IME.apk and the Clicker.apk? Did you do a adb push or a adb install?
Try and go into settings --> Language & Keyboard --> Touch Input --> Text Input?
I think its a force of habit with out really thinking to go there and calibrate but just going there may help.
Try that and let me know.
i just flashed it and pushed the keyboard and calibration app through adb and all is well. its working awesome. Thanks!!!

Thanks, but I really can't take to much credit. Its a "Pick and Pull" from several ROMs. This one actually came from our GSM Brothers and then I used the CDMA tricks in this form to make it work.
I keep watching and playing with the Google Nexus Dumps. I would really like to get one of them up and running.
Based on your posting and replies I assume you are re-using the 2.6.27 kernel like the other roms?

Wow thats allot in a little space.
What I gather is that it originally booted, then after trying to install via droid explorer and then astro it now just dies after the lockscreen.
I am not sure where to start. I would just say to do a full wipe, then a clean install. Then if you have the sdk try the ADB install method as Cynanogen's post talks about.
I am working on trying to get the stock Android keyboard to work. If we can figure out that then we don't have to mess with the HTC one.
ok i got it i just adb pushed them to system/app works great

Yeah, actually some of your work if I remember correctly, thats why its got the same issues. My first goal when I built this for my self was to get past the blasted google bits sync loop. The more I worked into it the more I moved on to the 2.0.1 build with some of your stuff in it.
Your welcome to anything I have learned, its really not my work.

[ROM][32A RADIO 6.35] WG-Build Y-2.6 - 26/01/2010

All credit goes to other devs... I'm just combining other peoples works to make your lives easier (i.e. i'm making a VERY basic port and sharing it with everyone who doesn't know how )
I would like to thank sanpei and cursordroid for their work on the new radio.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated, I'm new to this but i will do my best to fix any problems you guys may have.
Prerequisites:

Now without further ado...
WG-Build Y-2.6 Single File Update UPDATED LINK
Changes
-Now using cursordroid's kernel as sanpei's gave me issues with some games
-Using proper libgps.so --> it works (i think i got it searching didn't test it outside)
Features:
-so far nothing changed from the original WG rom other than the kernel to get it running, just a straightforward port... i might add things later view the original post for feature list and change log.
-haven't noticed any bugs in the short time i've been using it... enjoy
nice to see more ROMs coming up for the 6.35 radios. i will download and test this ASAP.
Looks like we're gonna have more ROMS based on the new radio soon
Testing it right now. So far so good.
Haven't checked everything though (wifi, bluetooth, GPS).
I didn't tried the original ROM but I like the bootscreen
Thanks for the port!

No Apps2sd?
Hey, just loaded the ROM, haven't really looked at anything yet, loaded ok. If was hoping for apps2sd, anyway to get this activated? I don't know much programming, I did notice the apps2sd script has a line basically saying not to activate if installing ROM on MT3G. Did i read this correctly, is there anything I can do do activate it?
Edit: ok, so I believe apps2sd is installed, looks like I have files both in data/app and system/sd/app, so I think apps2sd could have worked, just have to figure out where new programs go to install, and then hopefully i just need to get rid of the files in /data/app

I know the Magic doesn't really require apps2sd, I just find it makes things easier when backing up/restoring apps, and I have become obsessed with keeping my internal memory down (mostly because I am coming from a G1/Dream)
first thanks for the port, everything is working except GPS
anyone else????
gps works just fine for me
GPS does not work for me either. I believe this port suffers from the same problem as cursordroid's Magic Fender Edition.
It seems there are no GPS kernel drivers for 32a 6.35 radios and 1.6 builds.
hmmm... i'll look into the gps issues.. could be just a simple lib that needs to be changed.
I'm giving this ROM a whirl right now. I'll report back on GPS. So far everything else looks good.

[ROM] Pancake 0.1

Here it is! Pancake! Based off Gumbo, it's one of the fastest Cupcake ROM's for the Sprint Hero! It includes some must-have applications, like wifi-tether and a file manager, and has apps2sd enabled. In order for APPS2SD to work, you must of formatted your SDcard to fat32 + ext2 + swap. To do this, simply boot into recovery, copy all the files you want to keep to your PC, because this WILL FORMAT YOUR SD CARD! and then press 'Part SD: fat32+ext2+swap', copy your files back onto the SD card, and reboot. This boot might take longer than usual, while it copies all your applications to your SD card. Enjoy the ROM!

Basically, if you want the pretty stock home look, you want SenseUI. If you want android's stock home screen, get the nosense package. You could pretty much try both and see how you like each one.
Could we drop all the sprint apps except sprint navigation? Believe it or not I use that on occasion because so far I haven't found a google maps app for 1.5 with TTS. Also if you wanted to integrate 'swype lite' as the keyboard, that'd be cool too, otherwise I'll just install that later.
I'll be flashing this for the first time later tonight, MoDaCo + Gumbo's kernel has been working for me, but I'm feeling the urge to switch it up again, and anything faster is good!

@MadMic So this rom is very near at the stock htc rom and so of course it contains sense.
No Mirrors pls.
Install with recovery mode, as usual.
Flash on your own risk.
Don't need to do a wipe if you come from a stock rom.
if you get any problems, then perform a wipe.
Edit2: Some user reported problems with Root/SuperUser.apk, they had to reinstall http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682828.
So if your SuperUser.apk doesn't have root after installing the firmware, pls install it from the link above. (Just flash it via recovery mode!)
(This one is the right version of SuperUser.apk: http://bit.ly/brI0EV)
Edit3: I think the root/SUperuser.apk problem is happening when you wipe before/after the flash. However, if you get have any problems, just flash http://bit.ly/brI0EV and you will be fine.

Edit: Seems to be not working.

you have to ask dsixda
Don't know really which one his kitchen does add ... but i think the normal App2SD .. not the plus version.
Evilandi666 -- Thanks very much for this! I hadn't quite got my head around post-root upgrades and have been trying the 1.21 OTA update since 5pm both through the phone OTA interface and the Desire recovery mode. This brings the firmware back up to the O2 number (or possibly above)! I couldn't see that anyone had got back to you on the integrated apps2sd, so even though I might not use apps2sd I gave it a whirl -- just finished installing and looks good. I'll update after a play around.
Must I root again? I installed at 1.21 stock ROM before this then I found out that i lost my Super User Access.
Tested the A2SD version and got a boot loop with wiped ext4 partition. Wiped partition again in Recovery, got a boot loop. Reformatted partition to ext3 using gparted, got a boot loop. Currently downloading non-A2SD version.
Been running the version without APP2SD for a bit over a day now and it hasn't given me any problems yet
Thanks again

Most people have 3rd Party apps they use.
If options you need were removed,
this ROM may not be for you.
::: SD Setup :::
Swap
Fat
ext - optional - only has Froyo app2sd
::: TO INSTALL :::
- Do whatever you do for backing up, example: nandroid
- Wipe with this method:
---- While USB plugged to the computer,
---- run the bat in this post and format this way:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6855422&postcount=3
---- to ensure full format, I also use AmonRa recovery wipe options
---- just to be safe
---- If you are comfortable in ADB, then just use it to run this command:
adb shell mount -a; rm -rf /system/*; rm -rf /data/*; rm -rf /cache/*;
---- You can skip the bat file if you do this
- Flash ROM ONLY
- Reboot Device
- After that, change whatever settings you would like. DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING.
- Just Setup CM settings, wifi, etc (optional)
---- I like to enable wifi and put in my network key
---- so my wifi is going when the market begins
---- to sync my apps
- Reboot Recovey
- Flash GAPPS
- Reboot
- Unlock after reboot and you will be prompted with the Google sign in.
---- After unlock, I usually plug it in, have wifi enabled,
---- set it up under 'USB Debugging' to "stay awake when plugged in"
---- and leave it alone for a bit. This way, you aren't stressing out your system
---- while the market is downloading 100 apps at once lol
---- This is also why I reboot and setup PRIOR to installing gapps.
---- A reboot or three may be needed to ensure everything is settled in nicely
---- If you are wondering where your responsiveness is, look at your downloads
---- in the market, see if you are still syncing. If you reboot during some downloads,
---- you may need to cancel and restart them.
Fully Tested on my G1.
Current Phone Specs:
- Danger SPL
- G1-radio-2_22_23_02
- Dithering OFF (CM Options)
- 96mb Swap
- 512mb ext3 - just in case, this way, if I need an ext partition, I dont
-------------- have to re-format the entire card.
I am not responsible for any outcome
due to your use of this ROM in any way.
Use at your own risk.

Like I said, I use 3rd party apps for that.
I use Camera Zoom FX and mAPPn360
Those apps are much slower than the stock camera app imo. What's wrong with the camera app included in CM6? Snappy for me

If you want the app that bad, extract it from CM6 and install it on here.
Or, not use this ROM. Simple.
Great work Marlo, nice light ROM. Keep up the great work and I do appreciate your hard work and thanks for sharing your work.

I knew I wasn't the only one who didn't want all the other junk!
Hey marlo, I have a problem. I've never modded my g1 before and decided to do this rom first off. I went back and rooted it and then installed amon ra recovery and did radio update to 2.22 and danger spl.
I flashed your rom through recovery and it booted up fine the first three times but for some reason now it wont stop rebooting. It gets to the home screen, "press menu(my bad) 'swipe' to unlock", for about a second or two and then screen fades as if I did a battery pull. Then boots right back up.
I'm going to try some things when i get home, in recovery, when I wipe before install, am I suppossed to wipe all options in that sub menu? Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you and all others in advance.
Alright still having the same problem. I loaded in recovery and wiped everything except the sdcard partition, which I dont have my sdcard partitioned, so I didnt want to do it and wipe my rom zip.
After wiping everything else I reflashed the rom from sd. And rebooted from recovery. Rom loaded up great and worked perfect on first boot for about an hour until I decided to reboot it to make sure everything was working great and it started again.
Will load up to "swipe to unlock" and once its done preparing sd card it fades like I did a batt pull. Help, please?
Ok, sorry I wasn't following forum rules. I didn't know the meaning of the term "search". I spent a good 45 straight minutes searching just now as well as searching earlier today, but you guys are right, it pays off. I had wifi on, and only after a reboot would it go into the wifi reboot bug because on first launch with no wifi on it would connect without rebooting.
Hey marlo, I have some questions about this build and about a stripped down version of android to run games. Answer on here if you like, but I'll PM you about it.
Sorry for the delay. Your bug may have something to do with cyanogen, or what I removed. CM has been known to do similar things.
I never experienced your scenario, but I'm not saying I doubt you.
Games ran fine for me, I played robo defense all the time.
Thanks for trying my version of CM.

Great Job
Great job Marlo. I like what you did with the Mod. Without all other stuff on there my battery last longer. Now i can add the .apk that i want.
