dear fellow users,
i can't revert my unbranded HTC TyTn II to factory settings, which is necessary, as i need to make use of the warranty.
i tried to stick to the "idiot friendly" guide in this forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335568) but already the first step fails; i cant reinstall the HTC factory ROM, neither the 6.0 nor the 6.1 version.
everything starts normal, and then it gets stuck at 73% and says Error 262. i looked up the error, (disconnect, reconnect, it supposedly resumes) but what was told there didn't help.
my bootloader says
KAIS130
3.56.Hard
CPLD-8
i now managed to install ChrBeck's german wm 6.5. that worked, but it's obviously not what i need.
I tried the whole thing under Windows 7, 64 bit. and windows xp, 32 bit
Any suggestions?
thankyou for reading!

thx mate,
but unfortunately nothing i googled or found here solved my problem; and as i indicated before, upgrading to newer roms seems to work, just the downgrade fails at 73% with that error.
any more ideas?
EDIT: i'll try mtty... (only thing out of 5 threads regarding the subject i haven't tried
EDIT2: after endless tries i successfully flashed a second (Tejak's) WM 6.5, and was, only after i did that, able to downgrade to HTC original. they way it's supposed to be. no reason nor rhyme, if you ask me, but it worked. FINALLY

Hi!
Can anybody help me?
I was upgrading with faria's roms.
It all went ok until it reached 99%. after waiting for around 5 minute at that point, it sad that there was a communication error with the phone, and i need to do some recovery actions(remove from the usb, remove the batteries) It said that if i can see 3 bars, then everything is ok.I could see it, so i restarted the upgrade utility. But it did not want to do anything. It said to get a newer version of the upgrade utility. and my phone remained in that 3 color state, having 3 messages on it: IPL 2.16 then on the other corner saying RUU, then in a next row SPL 2.16
Can anybody help me to fix this phone?
Thank you in advance

Mine did something similar - PC Blue-screened about half way through the upgrade and left the Wizard at the Bootloader screen. I tried to re-run the upgrade and it said I needed a different version of the upgrade utility. I just re-installed the WM6 MB version and this worked fine, once it was back up and working I re-ran the Faria upgrade and it worked fine.
I think if you just copy the 'nk.nbf' file from Faria's ROM and use the upgrade utility from the MB version it will work.

ok.. here are the steps.. its very easy.. i had the samething..
your phone is probably CID locked.. so what you need to do is just download the original tmobile ROM.. and connect the phone and install the original ROM.. You didnt birck the phone because you get the bootloader screen.. which means, you can still save the phone..
anyway.. connect the phone via usb and install after you install the original wm5, download the shelltool from here and follow the instructions.. and install the ROM via shelltool.. Then you should be good to go with the new
wm6.

DR.P'S UNLOCKING THREAD worked wonders for me.
BTW, after following Dr. P's instructions and loading Faria's ROM, my MDA took approx. 13-15 minutes at 99% before I hit the glorious 100%. Like a wise person before me said, patience is a virtue. I waited until the 5 minute mark, got up, used the restroom, grabbed an ice cold Pepsi and then waited some more.
Yup, first time disaster. I followed the guide here, installed the necessary Cert_SPCS.cab/EnableRapi.cab files, rebooted, and then started the Shelltool update...only to belatedly notice a notification screen on my 8125 asking if I wanted to run one of the programs.
I said yes, but even though the update completed, my 8125 is stuck at the boot screen.
Worse, I reset the 8125 into boot loader mode and tried to flash back, only to get a 300 error. I tried to use an updated RUU and ROM set, only to get 264 or 274 errors.
Any hope here, or did I just manage to brick my 8125?
Are you trying to flash an offical rom while in bootloader mode?
Yup. Tried to flash the official 8125 ROM from HTC. Tried to flash a number of different ROMs, actually - I always get a 264 or 274 "Communication" error, except for the official ROMs, which gave me a 300 error.
Not looking good here...
this has helped me with bad flashes

Been there, done that. In fact, that was the thread I first read. I've tried to flash to Wizard_love, but I get a 264 error.
From what I've read in the RUU Docs, a 264/274 error is rare, and fatal in this case. It's not looking good...
(On the bright side, the iPhone release has created a flood of used 8125's on eBay )
I did a little searching for you,

I read some were how to flash a phone that has errors, I couldn't find that post. Maybe someone else here knows of that post You didn't mention is your phone G3 or G4 I did find this post, doesn't look good. I hope someone has a better answer for you, good luck.

Another post I found for you.

Thanks for the links, unfortunately it's still a no-joy situation here.
This is a G4 Cingular 8125 - sorry I forgot to mention that earlier.
ActiveSync was set to allow USB connections, and I've tried using the official RUU update utility from HTC for the Cingular 8125 with the 8125 in Bootloader (3 color) mode - I get an error 274.
I then tried the Wizard_Love version - error 264.
Next, the MB WM6 ROM - error 300.
Finally, in desperation I try the Shelltool app method again, even though I can't copy over the necessary bootloaders. It hangs up mid-flash, as expected.
Can't go forward, can't go back. Looks like I've got myself a brick...sigh...
upd: ahh, it is g4.....
so ignore whats below
it IS NOT brick ,trust me i had exactly same prob while testing cooked ROM - all yyou need is to download chinese rescue ROM, THEN flash it by its RUU, then RUU wLOVE, then flash ..anythin(g3)...and then flash IPLSPL, as it will be unequal, usually.
its unclear, why RUU cant do flash sometimes, but i believe, that you do not have brick( i had same situation 3 times = 14 flashes..;/ but machine is alive !)
of course, you may have same errors with chinese..if connecting, reconnecting etc is not working, then...use any rescue ROM closest to original, old hogs. check your firewall, and remember - SR device before EACH try - oterwise you surely will have 300 error - 1 try for each reset, no more.
chinese rescue ROM(you MUST flash wlove after that 1), or shelltool will lead you to...3bars.;/

wizard love rescue ROM:

Just a "happy ending" update:
Was just about to buy a new 8125 on eBay, when I gave it another try - hard reset the device twice in a row, then tried again to flash back to the original Cingular 8125 ROM -- it worked!
Then, in a fit of flashing madness, I went ahead and flashed one of Faria's latest WM6 sets -- and it worked as well!
So, not only don't I have brick, I actually got it upgraded. Whew...
pls help for flashing rom

Kindly confirm its a G3 or G4 before flashing. This will help you out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613
wizard G4 boot ok but jump to B/L screen
its aliveeee its aliveeeeeeeeee
First off I'd like to apologize for what must seem like a duplication of a thousand other "stuck in boot loader" threads, but I've got what appears to be a fairly unique situation here and none of the fixes I've found searching the forum have worked for me.
Yesterday I flashed Dutty's WM6.1 ROM using JumpSPL, everything went fine. Today I went to install one of Niki's radios using JumpSPL again, but it got stuck at 99%. I went through the recovery process (several times) and each time after that got stuck at 0%. I've tried soft and hard resets, every time it comes back to the tricolor boot loader. MTTY doesn't give me the USB port option, even if I disable any and all tasks related to Mobile Device Center. Stock AT&T ROM won't load, says "This update utility cannot be used for your PDA phone." I can't flash HardSPL, after I hit enter it doesn't do anything. I tried the Vista fix available on Modaco, but it's not compatible with 64-bit Vista so I'm SOL there too. I'm really at wits end here, could someone please point me in the right direction? I've read time and time again here that as long as you still get the tricolor screen your phone is not bricked, but I seem to be all out of options and nothing has helped.
The boot screen displays the following:
RUUNBH (Top right corner)
KAIS1*0
SPL-1.56.0000
CPLD-8
Please, any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
I don't believe JumpSPL is intended for radio flashing. Flash HardSPL and reflash with a shipped AT&T ROM.
I can't flash HardSPL for some reason, when I press enter in the prompt it brings up nothing happens.
Good job there slick! Did you purposefully ignore all the posts about safely flashing your device?
If you don't mind a little berating & a ton of sarcasm, I may be compelled to take an interest in helping you to fix the device (or to see how badly you've f'd it up & if it can be salvaged at least). Anyway, find me on MSN IM if you want & I'll walk you thru the steps for diagnostics & if possible, recovery.
You'll have to promise not to rush into doing any more stupid things though.

Yeah, yeah, gung ho, help the newbie, man this is getting old.

owner , when I am big I will have Tytn II
Managed to get it straightened out, for some reason MTTY 1.42 wasn't working properly with my system but 1.16 did the trick- Rebooted through there and flashed HardSPL then loaded my ROM without a hitch. Thank you everyone for being so responsive and helpful!

Ahhh, one more staisfied customer! Glad I could help out srdjank. Just remember that you can't treat a Kaiser like it's a Wizard. Similar yes, but there are different processes for safely flashing.
So far I've seen that Flashing Radios with JumpSPL is a sure recipe for bad memory blocks. Always, ALWAYS, HardSPL!
i also had the same problem when i tried to sim unlock my mda vario iii in progress screen the progress stuck at 95%. i would appreciate any help to recover the phone. thanks in advance
Hi everybody,
maybe anyone can still help me.
It seems it kind of f''''d my Device by installing SPB Software, at least it doesn't boot anymore, neither does Hardreset work out.
So the last Solution might be flashing the ROM via bootloader.
When starting the Update-Utility i always get stuck with a Connection Error (262).
yes, yes, i use Windows Vista (get the same error with XP btw).
I also installed the latest USB Driver and upgraded WMDC to 6.1 using the HowTo in the Hermes Section of this board, but unofrtunately it does not work either.
Still Error 262...
Any advice highly appreciated :-(
p.s.: i started another thread since the other one mainly deals with my hardreset problems and seems ppl dont read it anymore. excuse me if i get annoying, but im getting a bit desperate
Hello,
before I get into my problem description: yes, I did read all (or most of) the upgrade and troubleshoot guides in this forum, but I still can't figure out what's going wrong when I try to flash a 6.1 ROM. So any help is appreciated.
Device: G3 S200
here is what I did:
hardSPL
flash the ROM with a 6.1 ROM found in this forum (I tried 4 or 5 different ones by now)
hard reset
the problem: the device is stuck in the tri-colored bootloader screen after the upgrade (I still have the USB connection)
I can go back to the old AKU2.2 image, but any upgrade to WM6.1 seems to fail.
A more bit of info: I did successfully upgrade my device to an AKU 3 image a year (?) ago (following the instructions from this forum). That worked like a charm.
My PC runs XP SP2 and ActiveSync 4.5.
Does anybody have any idea, what could be going on? I would hate to have to go back to an AKU 2.2 ROM :-(
Thanx a million!
Katrin
successful upgrade
Hello,
just wanted to report back that after some more trying, I finally managed to get a 6.1 image working. I used the "alternative lazy tool" mentioned in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=353547 with a pdaviet rom.
Thank you to everybody on this forum for all the great work and for sharing it with the rest of us!
Thanx,
Katrin
- I am so glad that I can continue to use my S200 -
