I've just ordered a HD2 and have only now realised that my favourite email client Profimail will probably not work on the HD2 (because of CPU incompatibility!)
So is there an email client anyone can recommend that lets you:
- Store and insert pre-defined signatures to save repetitive typing
- Flag / Star certain messages on IMAP servers
- Connect with IMAP Idle
I assume the built-in email client doesn't let you do the above?
There's Flexmail
I have no idea how good the WM 6.5 mail client is.
Thanks Gajet. My HD2 has now arrived and I've tried Flexmail. It works OK but is not as good as Profimail.
I've also tried the free QMail application but that's very unfriendly for capacitive screens.
This for me is a huge negative point for the HD2 / Snapdragon phones, that they can't run all software a regular ARM chip can. And I'm left without a good email solution that I had previously.

well i think the term "good" is extremely subjective. I am thrilled with my email capabilities with the built in app. I see your point as you are doing waaaay more with email then the average user would. But i didn't reply to merely state you are an overachiever haha
not sure how old this site is but it has a list of a few you may want to try out

Thanks for your reply mallman (I read that as mailman at first )
I'm getting to grips with Flexmail more now and it's not too bad a profimail replacement and is even better in some ways. I often wish I had the skills to write my own dream email application...

skills never magically appear get the skills and hook us up with the client lol
I get major lag problems when I use the HD2 with Flexmail. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to solve this problem?
And I do not use other software with the phone when Flexmail is in use.
I've had no big issues with Flexmail running 3 IMAP accounts but mails come in it only vibrates and tones don't work.
Anyone else with this issue?
Play in the settings with the viewing settings (one window view) and the lags dissappears for me - and it's more fingerfriendly to change the font to size 9.

I have also a question:
If you go into the contacts and wants to write an email from that everytime pocket outlook opens.
Does someone managed it to get Flexmail integrating in TouchFlo?

JLowe...have you continued to use FlexMail with the HD2.
Are there any particular limitations or do you consider it useable.
The official FlexMail website doesn't currently offer any prediction for improvements. I think it's a great program and would gladly contribute for a current version that is updated for the HD2.

Hey all,
I'm sort of interested in looking at Flexmail over the stock email program. I'm hoping that it will notify me when I get new mail in sub folders, unlike the stock program.
However, I also use Mobile Shell and I understand that the two don't real well. Does this mean that new email notifications from flexmail won't show up in Mobile Shell or is it just a matter of Flexmail not launching when I hit the new mail notification box?
If its the later, couldn't a modified version of spbWatcher be used? Instead of starting the NOW screen every time the Today screen shows up, it would launch Flexmail when ever the default email program tried to launch. Would this work?

Nobody? Is there something as SSMaPa for Shell/Flexmail?
Please post in the correct section. Thank you.
Moved to Q&A
Anyone able to think of a way to have it so that messages would be marked as read when previewed in TF3D (similar to text messages)? Sometimes I've already read an email, or it's short, or it's not something I care about and would rather not have to open the message to mark it as read.
Thanks.
use flex mail it is much better than the standard outlook and you can mark mail's sms's as read or unread...you'll never go back to outlook again
I've actually heard good things about FlexMail before. My only concern is that I really do like TF3D, can FlexMail replace Outlook for the mail tab and still work with the fancy (lol) previews and such?
you can try Samapa programe to change the default tmail.exe to flexmail i never tried it..but i tried and changed successfuly the all contacts soft key in touch flo to open icontact and the calender button on the home tab to thumbcal ..so try it and let me know what happens
I'm sorry... Samapa? Google'd to no avail (well, as far as phone-relevant things go).

I think I am going to chicken out and not try it. Other than sounding a bit complicated (maybe just because I am a noob on my first WInMo device), but I also don't see anything where it would be able to maintain the preview functionality (and allow that preview to mark the message as read, which is my actual "issue" or whatever).
Thanks though!
I'd also love to be able to mark emails as read from the TouchFlo preview pane, without opening up the mail app (whether that's Outlook or something else). I do like the idea of the preview, but it would make a significant difference if I could use it to mark unimportant and short emails as read in one step.
Anyone?
I previousely had a Nokia E50, that is not considered "Enterprise" enough by WM6 users, But it had some basic features missing in WM6 Smartphone, does any one know how to overcome them:
1. I can not only Send mails, its always send & Recieve.
2. I can not send mails to a group of mail ids, I have to select contacts individually.
3. I Can not assign a assign a specific ringtone to a group of contacts.
Is Microsoft Stupid or What? Or do they keep everything for PPC version (I dont know since I do not have one)? Or do they think that they are giving the smartphone edition as a obligation, a social service of sorts?
1. Why do you only want to send mails and not receive. Its not possible as of now.
2. Use the software EssentialContax Pro that can send mails to a group.
3. You can assign ringtones to individual users. To do it for a group try using photo contacts pro. It has many additional features too.
Both features might be supported by one of these softwares, so check on the developers website for that
Re: Softwares
Thanks for the infor, but my point is, when you are buyig an enterprise device, these features should be inbuilt. Why do I have to pay extra for getting some basic features (the price of HTC S710 is double that of Nok e50)?
I have checked flexmail, but its pretty expensive! (in Indian Context).
Re: Why I just want to send mails: GPRS connectivity in India is exceptionally slow, so If I have to urgently send a mail, I wont have to wait for the downloading of all the mails thats in my inbox!
in the advanced settings of a mailaccount you can choose to send/receive or not when you click send.
i don't know if it is only a wm6.1 option, but on mine you can choose that!

Why? Because you feel those features are 'basic'?
I've looked at Nokia E devices, but they lack certain functions which I feel are essential. Main problem for me is that Nokia is not able to sync all calendar / contact information with Exchange. Does that make the E-series 'dumbphones' ? No. It only means that I am not satisfied with the functionality I get in *my* situation.

Correct me if I am wrong, but dont you think there are a lot more people who prefer sending sms or mails to a group of people than those who has an exchange server in office for syncing contacts etc?
Thats how I went about getting the S710... defined some "must haves"
1. MUST sync with outlook (exchange) Calender, mails, contacts.
2. MUST have a normal keyboard somewhere
3. Must look pretty much like a normal phone (size/dimensions)
Now that I have my s710 some new demands are added:
MUST run photocontacts pro (the profiling is simply awesome)
MUST be able to easily have more functionality installed (WM)
Thats about it

But it does run Photo Contacts Pro! BTW I am not using the official ROM, using WM6.1 Clean ROM
I know it does thats why its a new "must" for my next phone
Hi folks,
my first post here, this is a greaaaat forum
but let's face my problem, Nimbuz is a really great tool, but if you have the facebook account, he'll download the friends profiles photos, and when I want to see my photos in the HD2 I have those pictures downloaded.
Has anyone solved this problem yet?
yes I've noticed that too.
Solution?
Use Palringo, or pay for Im+ (which is crap). I await a truly ENJOYABLE messaging client for WM. In light of the fact that Android and iPhone OS apps seem to have so much more finger friendly and snappy apps (Nimbuzz on the iPhone is a lot nicer to use). I hope that the new year will bring with it a plethora of non-clunky, smooth and lovely apps to rival those of other OS's. Apps such as TouchTwit are a step in the right direction fo' sho'.
Hi!
I did it!
Thank you luxxa. I had this problem too and your post prompted me to try a solution. It was annoying me.
Folow the tip 64 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4935500&postcount=3 to exclude the Nimbuzz folder present in \My Documents\My Pictures\. (By the way, it's not really necessary to soft reset. You can just use Task Manager or something alike to restart only the program HTC Albums)
Open the photo albums list, select an album, and Set it as Favorite.
leoni1980, do you prefer Palringo over Nimbuzz? I tried to use it about one year ago, but I didn't understand its interface. Before I used to use Talkonaut, but it started to fail sometimes. Currently, I dare to say I like Nimbuzz. I just miss a finger scroll for it.
guys the problem is that the nimbuzz does not have a notification icon to notify if you have massage or missed call so you need to open it all the time to see if you have a massage and it only have a small beep sound
Palringo has the notification icon showing in the todayscreen if you have a massage but nimbuzz does not have this
that the only thing stopping me from using it
anyone have any solution for this ???
Nimbuzz has his advantages, for example supporting Skype..

but does not have a notification icon and cant run more that 1 msn account in the same time
And Nimbuzz collects as many personal data from you as it can get.
I would recommend to read their privacy statement. For people with a general privacy need it´s horror.
Anyone figured out how to login/logout of individual accounts. Whilst at work I prefer to have google talk on desktop and facebook & MSN on phone (nimbuzz).
I cant see anywhere in nimbuzz to logout of google talk but leave facebook and msn connected.
I much prefer Palringo but their facebook support is dodgy at best.
Is it just me or does the HD2 email app suck. The SMS app isnt great either....
Though im much happier with this windows phone that my previous garbage Iphone.. i have to admit that gmail and sms works better on the iOS..
What are my alternatives here.. i did try to search and couldnt really find a good way of replacing these features to something which is clearer and that works better. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.. also if there is a cooked rom out there with a good sms and email application let me know PLEASE !!
also .. if theres nothing good out there.. is there any way that I can get my phone do always download full messages as they arrive, rather than getting a lame half email and then always having to wait for the rest of it to download ?
thanks !
No you are not!!! I hate it too and exchange is not any better. Using Imap they show the day I sync my folders as the received date and they are all out of order. Because of security reasons they do not allow html picts and other attachments. The only other programs I have found that are better are Profimail and flex mail. Both of them have problems too like flex mail does not support finger scrolling and Profimail has notification problems on PPC. I like and use Profimail but I will not pay for it till they fix it.
i also hated the stock email app, searched a lot, ended up using Profimail, which is much better though quite pricey. now use android, having amazing gmail and exchange support

I have never experienced that problem, do you have to manually download the whole message? Have you checked the download options, download whole message? (not just 50kb or some such size)
What other problems / dislikes do you have?
