I just put Donut 1.6 on my MT3g! I love it, very fast and simple, could not ask for more BESIDES wifi Tethering.
It has the app, and i have reinstalled it, but i keep running into a problem with Superuser.
Every time i go to use tethering it comes up with SU request. From what i have searched, i am supposed to have a Allow and Deny option. These options never come up.
I have put on Shell and typed in
ID
SU
ID
Now, from what i have seen it is supposed to say Rooted in here. It does NOT say rooted, and when i press menu to select "Request Superuser" it says i do NOT have it installed, even though it clearly is.
What are my options i have to get my wifi tethering working? I have searched and tried EVERYTHING but redoing my rom, which i cant do by myself. I had my friend do it for me.

And I'm quite confused!
I rooted my phone using Modaco Custom Rom 3.1 Core.
When I try to do anything that requires Super User, the request always hangs and doesn't do anything. I get no option for allow access etc, for ANY application.
I'm not sure what to do..because some apps out there which I would like to use, I can't, because of this problem!
Does anybody know a solution please?

Superuser Permissions program hangs (usually with a black screen or even a force close) at the “SU request” screen?
1-Select Settings > Applications > Development.
2-Make sure that USB Debugging is checked. If not, check it.
If that fixes your problem, you are done. If not:
1-Select Settings > Applications > Manage applications.
2-Find Superuser Permissions on the list. Tap it.
3-Tap “Clear data” and “Clear cache” if they’re enabled.
tested on the HTC Dream (T-Mobile G1), and My HTC HERO
i tried setting usb debbuging on and also cleared the data and the cache, still the SU request screen is still blank.
any help is appreciated
OK kinda another problem...
While waiting for a reply, I found a tutorial online to fix it. It basically instructed to CHMOD using the ADB, which potentially let any application have root access when it wanted it.
I realise this is kinda dumb now...is there any way to reset this change that I have made?

thanks man, this really helped my phone, even my live wallpaper that were laggy got a lot smoother with this, thanks so much.
This is perfect timing, I ran into this same problem last night and thought it was a problem with the app I was installing and didnt make the connection to the fact that I disabled USB debugging yesterday. Thanks!

Please pardon my "Noobness"
I have a captivate 1009 with 2.1 update1
I am not real savy with command line edits, so, I went to the app store and downloaded "Ryan's" one click root (free). Downloaded the free TiBu, a terminal emulator, clockwork recovery, and I guess I was not sure what to expect after. I had tried some of the other 1click root programs on here but they did not seem to do much. IF I were to try some of the latest version of the 1click root, can I put it over "what ever" I have on the phone? So far I have used the clockwork recovery to help with the back up but really don't want to disable the phone doing something wrong.
I am probably over my head already, but would like to enable the phone to most of it's capability and remove the AT&T stuff I will never use. BTW, my GPS works good on sat signal only disabling the cell function and I have not experienced the shut downs like some others (lucky!!)
I would appreciate any basic help to put this phone on track.
When I rooted, I never got the "update.zip" option when I went in to recovery mod, but I had "SU" icon in apps.
I have scoured the forums for weeks now only find contradictory information and workarounds !!!
Also, my first smartphone, hence my screen name !!!
Thanks
Never had that problem, you did go to recover to actually activate the root from ryans right? That has worked on three phones that I have done so far.

ok, so I've combed the internet, after work, for days, trying to find an answer to my problem. My problem? I recieved a backflip from att. I like the phone. i previously had an HTC excalibur, which i loved, and had internet sharing, contact synching, and cool software on. Clearly the MB300 can do all this and more, and i'm google fan, and big open source fan, so i am excited about using android.
I was TOTALLY offended to discover my phone had yahoo and att bull**** everywhere that is difficult to remove. Anyway, i updated to 2.1 (eclair) and rooted my phone using rageagainstthecage. here is where my problem evolves.
My phone is rooted after rage against the cage (using # in connectbot). but, after a restart, its back to $. damn. if i redo the ragecage business, i can get the # again, but only until my next boot. fix?
the more pressing matter, is that it is an utter pain to code on the phone itself. when i connect via adb, i can't seem to run adb shell as root. Is it possible to run adb shell as super?
even when i have a # in connect bot, I get an error when i type su? cannot link executable etc...
super use runs, but obviously not well since it doesn't confirm when i su in connectbot.....tried to update in recovery mode, but the zip isn't listed.....why must this be difficult....i blame att.
am i not really root?
i would have tried visionary, but it seems to have dissapeared off the internet.
i am trying to install jrods rom, but i can't get su, even though i successfuly did the ragecage business....
help?
i really want to get this att crap off my phone. (the phone defaults to google, which i appreciate, but i really need to destroy the att stuff)
thanks,
S.
Just got done rooting my Droid Maxx, this will be about the 8th phone that I've rooted so I'm not a complete bozo when it comes to rooting. I appreciate those that have come up with the root and have donated when ask for. This last root has done some weird things to the phone
1. Bluetooth commands wont work, answer and call cancel work, but no voice commands. When asked to choose what program I want to use, which it shouldn't, I press google voice and it says program illegally installed.
2. I've change the entitlement to take advantage of my grandfather rights, but it seams like I have to on/off airplane mode to reconnect to 4g to get internet pages to come up , this happens anywhere frome two to 10 minutes on the internet.
3. I've also installed Titanium back up. want to remove allot of the blot, [I never get rid of proprietary programs] after removing programs like NFL football and the like, those programs come back and are re listed in the app pages.
Any thoughts to whats going on. ?
Here it goes, I have a Verizon Samsung S4 i545 that received the 4.3 update shortly after I got it, like less than a week. I have followed droidmoddderx for some time now and was able to root my galaxy nexus thru wugfresh and his tutorials. So I go to his you tube page and find a video titled " root anything android" or something close to that. It is a simple process and it is called Kingo root. I followed the instructions and viola I get root access, I get SuperSU , root checker basic and it says I have root access. I get Titanium backup pro, terminal emulator, ROM Manager and more root apps. So, I go to settings find the appropriate box to check for WiFi tether and...it pops up a window stating that it has looked for subscription and I need to contact my provider, which is obviously out of the question since free wifi with my unlimited data is one of my biggest root uses. So I get on here search a few threads leave messages with you guys, some with droidmodderx and I get some suggestions to download a wifi toggle cause it works on theirs.I follow the suggestion and I explain I still have no hot spot . One of the toggles when activated will show a pop up in the upper message bar stating hotspot, but it drops back down and I have no hot spot, I left out that I tried the press the home key as soon as it says its searching for subscription and it has zero affect. I'm at a loss at this point and nothing I've read provides much in the way of confidence that anyone knows what they are talking about when it comes to this problem. I'm guessing the phone is too new and developers just haven't got to it yet, at least that's what I'm hoping. But I'm still willing to listen to and try other suggestions.
Thanks,
