Android 2.0 Eclair. - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

I was wondering these few days that whether HTC or Google itself will release Enclair for our Magics or not. Seriously, i was so excited after i watch the google nav beta vid. Enclair seem to work flawlessly. what do you all think about?

I'm excited for one.
I think before we see custom ROM's on 2.0 HTC has to release their own so dev's can start working.

You do know google navigator will only work for the US right?

Nah, only at first.
As time goes by and the maps have been re-written, they will come out everywhere else also.
What good is US-only navigation on a cell phone? No good if you ask me.

oh that's a shame I didnt' realise it wasn't available outside of USA...... same with Google Voice :*(

Wow I was wondering the same thing too.
this does not have anything to do with sapphire rom development

Must be the next update Enclair

Guys,
why there are no 2.0 unofficial ROM yet?
I remember long time before 1.5 was released for common users, It was possible to compile and install it from source.

Google hasn't released their source and the devs are hard at work trying to fix the million bugs while porting it. Fix one, 5 more appear.

yeah, we still need to wait for the original htc source b4 we can do anything stupid

I've thought that Motorola (which was released last Friday) supposed to have the 2.0. So why google still hiding the sources?

Cupcake US Release Date: May 11

I received an official notification that cupcakes US release will start around may 11 and be rolled out in waves.
More info can be found: http://droiddeveloper.com/
so late :-(
From what i have heard they wanted to put some last minute tweaks into it to make sure that it was more user friendly.

I believe it was to give developers time to get their stuff compatible, so that t-mobile service wasn't swamped with calls from people having problems which stem from incompatible apps.
how are updates going to work if i have a modded rc33? w/root

- Because they didn't have to make sure Amazon Marketplace, MyFaves, Yahoo IM, MSN IM, & AIM would work on it.
- Because a different management team controls Europe than the one that controls the US, and they made different decisions about how long to wait before releasing it.
Pick one.

You will not receive normal OTA updates from T-mobile. You can either upgrade manually or download the JF Updater from the market.

i think so because the one on htc was also for developers
so there should be a little more stability i think and that's about it

Of course it will. The one on the HTC page is for the Android Developer Phone, not the US G1. The US G1 version will take away root and add MyFaves, Amazon Market, and Yahoo, MSN, and AOL IM.
i find the htc's 1.5 still really choppy and laggy.. kinda dissapointed with it
I wonder how much of a difference there will be other than Tmobile apps of course.
I got tired of waiting and upgraded myself last night,I also got root access.Tmobile and HTC can shove it up their ass.....we US users pay the highest prices, get the phone first and we have to wait.
The new 1.5 cupcake comes with some nice new features but still kinda laggy, but it´s worth it.
I also see absolutely no reason to wait. JF1.5 ftw.

Having the update coming out first doesn't mean its good, the US may want to modify its update by looking at the other updates to make it perfect
Something that a really like on the 1.5 is the option to select high quality on youtube.
The on-screen keyboard is nice too for quick texting but the buttons are quite small.. since g1 screen is smaller than the iphone.. other than that scrolling is still choppy.. battery still need A LOT of improvements.. btw i dont really know why g1's battery sux so hard since the cpu is clocked at mediocres ~240mhz - ~380mhz max instead of 528mhz.. oh yeah gps is better now.. works even inside buildings for the most part.

Cupcake delayed until june now!!!!

Not sure if this thread is up yet but reports all over the web saying that
T-Mobile has delayed the release of the 1.5 Cupcake until June.
What a bummer!
Fresh as a Foghat concert.
Or a Clueless quote.
Why is this such surprise? It's been delayed for how long now?
Yup been reading about it. Delayed again.

About a week, right? Or are you referring to the numerous rumors on random unofficial blogs? T-mobile US officially announced it and then said it would be delayed about a week. I would say its not that long of a wait.
http://phandroid.com/2009/05/18/t-mobile-usa-g1-cupcake-update-delayed-1-week/
I am sure I am thinking about the rumors. However, it seems like there is always some delay.

With software you can never be 100% sure it will be on time. Most companies would rather delay the launch of software then put out a buggy one. Besides why are we complaining here, we have had cupcake for a while now.
I guess I should have added some sarcasm tags ( /sarcasm ) to my first post.

I guess I'm glad I wiped my phone and went JF 1.5 last night. It wasn't my plan to, but the no wipe upgrade to 1.42 didn't work. unionfs app2sd seems ok, knock on wood.

[REQUEST] Where.apk

Does anyone have the apk for the app called Where? It comes on the backflip and is available on the droid but I cant seem to find it in the market with my ATT N1 due to some kind of firmware issue. Any help is appreciated.

Hmm, weird. I can download it off the market on my N1 just fine.
Lemme know if that link the other gentleman provided doesn't work, ill try to up it to my DropBox.
google is aware of the problem. its only the att versions that are having issues seeing all of the apps in the market
Isn't ATT 'controlling' certain things about the market? Maybe that's why it's not showing on your ATT N1?
i think they may be because i read somewhere that if i put a t mobile sim in the phone i wouldnt have a problem. hell i dunno.
I don't have these issues with my N1 on ATT. *shrug*
having the same problem with ATT N1 missing Market apps. Attached is a newer version of Where app, 1.88, i think. 1.90 is newest, but can't grab. would appreciate if someone could UL the latest.
I emailed with Tech Support at Where. They said there was a contract issue with AT&T. Appears that if you want where, you have to pay AT&T each month and have one of the approved where handsets.
Could someone that has access to a newer version of Where 1.9 post either a download link or attach the file here in the forum.
We ATT folks would much appreciate it.
Thank you

You guys really find the app that useful?
The only useful stuff I found it did, Google local search already does.
Any who, here is Where 1.9.6
Where is the only app I've seen that gives a decent listing of gas prices nearby, anyone have any better suggestions?
I'd be happy to take back the 5-6M of storage it takes up..... Yikes.
Zipcar
It is also the only zipcar app for android.
If you use AppBrain and the new fast web install they have, you can install it from the AppBrain website. It still won't show up in the market for updates, but you can probably get it updated the same way.

Google Wallet

Anyone here using Google Wallet? Would like to know how well/not well it's working out. And would it be possible to use a regular Nexus S?

At launch it will only be for NS4G, but I think it will likely come to the T-Mobile version very soon. I'd just as soon let the Sprint guys work out the bugs for us, anyways
It's not out yet. It's supposed to be live this Summer. You can sign up for updates at http://google.com/wallet .
Ya, hopefully all the bugs will be fixed before its available. I can't wait, going to take a pic of my drivers license and I'll be all set. Lol.
Already signed up .
The new Google Shopper requires NFC permissions.
Hmmm, I didn't notice that when I updated the app. Thanks. Things are moving along .

Android/Google starting to piss me off!

I know everyone is going to say,"just root and install custom roms", but I am starting to get really sick and tired of no communication from Google about ICS updates. There's got to be something we can do to get their attention.
Google is the master of ****ty customer service. You will not get anything from them.
Yeap, it's true!! It really piss me off also!! But even so, once they come up with an update...I'll probably wait for a DEV from XDA to put his hands over it

End of April.
I totally pulled that date out of my ass, but apparently it's more important for people to have a date, even if fictive, than a product working properly. I'm sure there's a reason, mind you.

i don't know about you guys but my phone is BEAST! Rooted, oc'd, and themed... no update will make ics run like the rom I'm running now.
If you have a non-rooted ns and you're waiting for an update, maybe you should consider another phone BC stock will always be crap compared to a customized rom and kernel combo. If I was going to stay stock, I'd get something with touchwiz, sense, or even weaksauce apple.
If you are rooted, what the hell are you complaining about? Have you looked in the development section? Do you not see all the freaking options we have? There's only one other phone in America thats running stable ics... and guess what... its a nexus.
As far as I'm concerned, Google showed love by allowing me to run ics for the past 4 months while phones that have hit the market since then haven't even gotten a whiff of real ice cream. So just chill out and take comfort in knowing that the best is yet to come
You without me is like Harold Melvin without the Blue Notes...
The only reason I am waiting for the damn OTA is for a new preferred radio and a damn fix on my 3G connection going down after being in a bad area for a long period of time. This is why I went back to GB because I need to use my phone reliably.
